    Hello Friends,

SANDY - The diffuser and humidifier are two different things. I think a humidifier would really help your throat.
I use my diffuser when I meditate and its just a little vapor that comes out. A humidifier has a steam that releases.
I hope you feel well soon.
Lin - Yes we do have a trip planned to Jamaica in February for 10 days.

I am doing yoga now at least twice a week sometimes 3. I have moved my bike inside and use that too.
I was supposed to go to brunch on Sunday but we had freezing rain and I had to cancel my reservation. Too dangerous for driving.

We are babysitting Isaac on Saturday and hope to take him to their Santa parade. Always fun seeing him he's such a funny guy. My daughter and her husband have had the flu so I hope all are well when we get there.

Well that's all for tonight. Enjoy your evening.

    Shirley

Lin, the only thing that confuses me is that plan F will be discontinued in 2020 unless you are grandfathered in. I pay nothing out of my pocket now so going with an advantage plan scares me. Oh well, I did email a broker for some answers so we see where I end up. Yes, I do have prescription insurance but because I didn't take it when I went on Medicare (which no one explained to me) I have to pay a penalty for the rest of my life. So right now I have Humana Walmart which was $23 a month but my penalty is $40 a month which means I pay $65 a month.
Sorry Sneakers, I just wanted Lin's opinion. I didn't mean to bore you with US insurance.

    Sandy

They may not take new applicants into the plan, plan F, but you would not lose it as I understand it. It is the price of that plan that concerns me.

My agent did a comparison of his father in law’s surgery and hospitalization under plan F and the Medicare Advantage plan he sells in our location. Overall the out of pocket costs were very similar. The Advantage plan far exceeded the conventional supplement plan when it comes to rehab, physical therapy, etc.

It is confusing and it feels like going to a casino. I don’t know what my health will be going forward. Life is full of surprises.

Sorry for more boring conversation. ❤️❤️

SANDY, before it's too late, ask your broker if he/she deals with United American. It seems that although they dont advertise, they are very competitive. I was amazed at the cost of my new Plan F (covers everything, and will be GRANDFATHERED in!) at my age (92). It was hundreds more with every other company!
LIN, I've been on Humana's HMO for many years, but I can no longer get the specialty treatments , like physical therapy, here where I live, so for me, medicare has to be my choice. However, on Humana now, I was transported in a terrific taxi, WITH wheelchair, free to my dermatologist, 30 miles away! Medicare does not give transportation. It will probably cost me an exra $3000 a year at least considering the prescriptions, for which I did not pay on my Advantage plan! Just remember your choice of Drs is limited to those IN THE NETWORK! Yes, USA has a very confusing medical program, all because our Conress is beholden financially to the insurance companies! They call the shots!
By the way, my wonderful dermatologist could find nothing on my scalp but the remnants of what was a simple pimple, now completely gone! He says he will see me in my apartment if I need to check anything!
JACKIE, fabulous shots! ANNE, great poems! JERI, great attitude!
Fingers have gone numb as has my brain! So good night ,my lovelies...

Hello dears. I am so crazed, I can’t remember if I posted today or not. I am trying to finish up either trying to internet shop or decide what Santa will bring my good little boys and girl.

I am downsizing my decor, so that has been another ongoing decision. Mainly not wanting to tax John any more than necessary. Our storage room is downstairs. We both love the holidays but hate the disarray before and after.

I am trying to get some holiday dvds together for us to enjoy leading up to Christmas. If there is a big new interesting release on dvd, I will get that as a substitute for football. Thinking of Christmas Day, Board games are fun but they can get a bit tedious after a while. I have been listening to wonderful Christmas classics as I go about my chores. I am in the spirit today!
Stay safe and warm and know that you are in my heart,

Good morning. Lots on the schedule again today including several monthly discount days and I love to pick up needed items on those days. Mah Jongg and Cribbage the remainder of the morning. Yippee.

My decorating, so far, is a lovely amaryllis bulb (growing nicely each day) and another blooming Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus. Very pretty, the three I have are all blooming now.

Patsy, DVDs are wonderful! I try to watch a handful of Christmas/Holiday movies each year. I always enjoy them. Oh and I am listening to the Christmas music FM station when I drive. They start on Thanksgiving Day. Love that as well except when I hear the same song each time I start the car. 😂

Buzz, great news from the dermatologist. So glad! The insurance market for USA Seniors is very much a local market when it comes down to it. My agent studies the networks of all the major players in our area and makes recommendations but will write your business with whatever network you really want. I am with the Blues, always a popular choice in this area. But the Advantage plan with the best network and best benefits in this area is Aetna. I am happy to have an agent.

Shirley, Saturday plans sound good and I hope everyone is well by then.

    Well, time to scoot along.

    Hugs.

Hello Sneakers. Another bright and sunny walk for the pooches then into town for 3 months supply of flea and worming treatment for them plus Brady. A monthly pet plan for each of them keeps me on my toes and them up to date but just reading all your comments about your own health insurance reaffirms my love of our free NHS. It's busting at the seams with so many new arrivals in the country but we are still well cared for.

Anne, I missed your message yesterday because you posted just before me so I hope not too much snow fell and you and the bean are staying snug indoors. Did you read that the Society for the Protection of the Apostrophe has closed its doors because they say they were fighting a losing battle? Only in England! 😁Apparently there is a Society for the Protection of the English Language that will take up the cause!! 😂

One celebration after another for you and John Patsy. I'd be inclined to recycle as many aspect's as possible although agree music should be carefully chosen. My radio is on most of the day with either classics or smooth music and I've noticed more and more seasonal tunes creeping in which can bring out the bah humbug in me, probably because it nags me to get into the mood but also do battle in the shops! 😬

Great news about that spot on your head Buzz but when are you likely to hear more on your DD's condition; It must be 2 weeks now?

Well, I've had an early snack for lunch so I can get outside and make the most of dry weather. I heard this morning that this past year has been the hottest on record borne out I suppose by the vicious fires erupting around the world but then I saw Mr T at the NATO conference putting on THAT face!! Ha, he'll never get it!

Hugs for everyone I missed. Have a safe and warm Tuesday. ❤❤

doing all the phone and laptop updates before breakfast, so just dropped in to say HI!
    Bright and cheery group today.
Along with the cbd lotion and freeze, I added Biofreeze to everything below my ankles and just let it dry. At least I could drag myself over to my "office" (my Florida Room) overlooking he palm tree lined parking lot! Sunshine,...no snow. I hope the feet will feel better as the "front" moves through!
My DD's Dr is trying to get Medicare to pay for the lab work he wants to send up to the Mayo Clinic to analyze all the tests done by the 3 different hospitals that resulted in a possibly unecessary surgery of her thymus gland, several different diagnoses of the area around her brain, and other things that make no sense! Meanwhile, they have her on steroids to keep her from falling! Her attitude is much improved, JACKIE, thank you for asking. It has actually been going on since May! Ihad wanted her to go to the Mayo originally, but Sloan Kettering has as good a reputation. Medicare is balking at paying!
LIN, I agree, a good agent is hard to find. Here in Florida, the Blues were $200 more than that United American Insurance Company (Best gives it an A+ rating) so I was comfortable buying it.
PATSY, I've been listening to my stepdaughter's recording of music her husband has written and is now in the running for a Grammy Award! The base influence is probably Native American and I hear some wonderful syncopation as well, so though both are classically trained clarinetists, some American Jazz is sneaking in, as well! I love it. Her husband has spent part of every summer on a reservation. He is a musician on Broadway, retiring before everything in the pit is just recorded music! Our stations are not playing Christmas music yet.
Must get going, so have a super day, y'all~

Happy Tuesday! :) My cleaning girl is coming at 11:00 and later I am sitting for kiddos. Hopefully, my life is back to normal and no more medicines are needed.

Buzz, Medicare fights those kind of charges but I hope her doctor fights them and wins. It has been a horrible road she has been on and needs some answers. I am comfortable with the quote from Mutual of Omaha, it is under $200 a month for Plan F. Will discuss more with the agent when he comes Thursday. I am impressed with your stepdaughter's husband, what is his name so we can look him up?

Jackie, happy to read you have sunshine since we do not and it is a chilly day. I think I should move to England so I can stop worrying about all this insurance stuff.

Lin, one way or another we get the insurance dilemma settled and all the robot calls will stop. Enjoy your Mah Jongg and Cribbage.

Patsy, enjoy your Christmas music but like Lin we have a station that plays Christmas music since Thanksgiving (probably the same station) and it is just too early for me.

Shirley, so good to see you post. Enjoy your grandson on Saturday as I will mine today.

    Have a great day everyone.

Errand day today. John is taking back a great looking pair of sneakers that don’t fit. Why is it true that the niftiest looking things don’t fit or are uncomfortable? It seems to be true around here, at least.

Sort of high thin clouds and very cold. We will get a subway veggie sandwich for dinner while we are out. Easy and no cooking for me. Yea!! John even eats the veggie sandwich. Funny how simple little errand trips and a casual stop at a sandwich shop is so cheerful for me. Simple things for a simple mind, I guess.

I am digging out my holiday clothing and “jewelry”. A couple of sweaters with glitz and some earring and a pin that a jewelry designer friend made for me. I usually wear these things regularly during the holidays. Is there ever a time when sparkles and glitz isn’t a good idea? Absolutely not!

Katie has a grooming session this week sometime, so I will get out her holiday fashion scarfs. She leaves them on for a while before she decides to try to eat them. She also has hair ribbons that she must remove as soon as possible. This girl is not a fashionista! Too bad. She could use a bit of glamour, if you ask me.

Happy Wednesday! :) Like Jackie, we have a sunny but cold day. It was great seeing the kiddos yesterday and tonight is bingo. While at my son's he told me not to worry about him as he is going to London on business Saturday through Thursday. With the recent stabbings he was afraid I didn't know and someone else would scare me. I told him to stay in his hotel but of course that isn't possible. I will just pray that he stays safe and has a good trip.

I think Anne's IPad has given out as she has warned us might happen. I hope she returns soon, I miss her. I meant to pick up the humidifier I gave to my son to use which they don't but forgot it. I think I agree I need one in my room since I wake up with a dry throat each morning.

Lin, I bought a new red bulb for my buildings foyer yesterday. I have a green one outside my door and asked the neighbor across from me if I could put a red one in hers and she agreed.
I have a Merry Christmas decor on the wall along with a hanging Santa that says ho, ho, ho.
I also put some lights on our railing. I think the little boy across the way might like all the decorations.

Jackie, you are a brave soul to do gardening in the cold even though sunny. I almost suggested to my son to meet up with you but he is on business so will have no time.

Patsy, I don't mind scarves on our puppies but I really can't stand when people put clothes on their dogs. A coat/sweater for the cold is different but fancy little outfits drive me nuts.

Hello to Buzz, Jeri, Shirley and Diane and anyone who reads this post.

    Have a good one.

Well, an adventure to find a bulb. A clerk at the hardware helped out and we went through almost every bulb in the section. The ones I have been using are no longer manufactured. Of course. These are little flood lights so we had to look for a matching base and a shape that was similar to the old bulb.

Thanks Jackie, I don’t think the offered bulb 💡 would fit. I have four of the same bulbs installed on the same day so I look for more bulbs to give up. I purchased a 2-pack and I like the light they provide. My gosh, I remember inexpensive light bulbs although they burned out relatively quickly. These were a little over twelve dollars. I was in price shock. And I need another package. 😂🙄

Sandy, your decorations sound lovely. Enjoy Bingo tonight. I pray your son will be safe.

Jackie, I hope the gardening has gone well and you didn’t get too chilly.

Hello Patsy, Anne, Buzz, Shirley, Diane and everyone else I have skipped over.

    All best wishes.

    Hugs.

Lost another post. Answered SANDY's question and meanwhile found their recording website
On A PATH OF LIGHT, their debut release on Ansonica Records, Hevreh Ensemble offers up a set of music that highlights the unique blend of jazz, world music, and chamber music which critics call “a new sort of aesthetic that defies description.” Jeff Adler and Laurie Friedman are both clarinetists and on this album they also play native American flutes.
    ansonicarecords.com...Laurie is Mike's daughter.
I did read everyone's posts today; my legs are horrible so must get up and walk around.Thank goodness my cleaning friend showed up today and everything smells clean and looks neat, have a great day............hugs............................

Afternoon sneaker girls. Finally the snow melted and I managed to get little Bean out for two long walks. Wore the little one out because she is snoring on my lap as I write. However, before we get too excited about the meltdown apparently it will be back to shovelling on Friday and no Mike over to help with shopping. Never mind, I've put in a big order for tomorrow so we won't starve, and ordered a leg of lamb to temporary freeze at ENORMOUS expense just in case we are stuck in on Christmas Day. Hope not because Mary Jo has made her famous English Christmas puddings! Still, better be prepared in this climate for all eventualities.
This means unless a miracle happens the family will be stuck with cash for gifts because there is no way I am going to catch two buses to the mall in icy conditions to look for gifts they might not like anyway.
I spent a lot of time with Maria yesterday. Her problems with Tony's horrible disease are multiplying in the most awful way. So much so the doctors have finally persuaded her to put his name down on the five year waiting list for a long time facility. I'm so helpless at being of practical help. I tell you one thing - I'm so grateful for my own life. I'm truly blessed! There but for the grace of God go I one might say. The next time I have a little moan I shall think of Maria and two other 80 year old ladies who have been dealing at home with their 84 year old husbands for 11 and 15 years respectively. Maria is 68 so she could have a long road ahead of her.
She said if she does end up alone she will get a little dog like Jilly. I told her Jilly does stop me chatting to the walls. I chat to Jilly so much the little monkey understands most of what I say which has its drawbacks!
Well must close because I'm having iPad probs again. Roll on 2020 with more cash around!
Hugs to all you dear bulb hunting, gardening, dungeon dusting ladies,
Anne, who's getting much better at just listening!

Sandy, you mustn't worry about your son visiting London because attacks like the recent one are rare and other knife crime is sadly mostly between teenage gangs. He will be fine and anyway in America you have to deal with so much gun crime you are all very brave in my eyes! 😊

Lin, when I got my dad's 70's lamp home I had to search for a bulb and spent a fortune on a lifelong one but at least there was a buy one get one free offer. Of course if they are lifelong I won't need the second one!!
By the time I came in from the garden I was very cold so changed into cosy tracksuit bottoms but have been sneezing and snuffling this evening so hadn't done myself any favours getting chilled.

Buzz I'll listen to that music tomorrow which sounds very interesting; it's past my bedtime now.

Happy Thursday! :) Meeting today and I had a big win at bingo last night, $233. One pull tab and two bingos. Life is good. lol

Jackie, you are absolutely right, we have more gun crimes and senseless killings. I really hate guns and would never own one. I am not worried about my son, I think he is safer in London than he is in Chicago where he works. Also worry about my grandson who goes to school with all the school shootings. I really try to look for good in all people but it is hard.

Have a great day everyone, I am short on time as usual.

No sunshine today so a bleak sort of cold that gets through to the bones but still enjoyed walking on the moors once we got out of the wind. Bumped into George’s groomer who is currently fostering a German Shepherd for a charity that helps women who seek shelter escaping from a violent relationship. It’s surprising how many take their dog as well as the children. He’s a beautiful but very nervous dog and couldn’t quite work out what Betty was as she bounced round him. George on the other hand hid behind a grassy mound but not from the dog but Debs the groomer! We did laugh. 😁. Housework filled my afternoon and that was my day.

Great win Sandy, every little bit helps! Of course you worry about loved ones whatever they do but you have a wonderful positive attitude. I think that’s what makes us all such a tight knit group as we support and encourage each other.

A quiet day on the Sneakers board so far. Happy Thursday one and all. 😍

Good morning dearest sneakers! I am not sure about our weather...looks like heavy clouds to the southeast but sun here on the west and out over the water. It is a maybe/maybe not kind of day.

I think I will see if I can follow Anne’s and Lin’s good example and make cards to include our kids Christmas cash gifts. It is upsetting not needing to buy toys and dolls for Christmas. Everyone wants or needs cash, even the charities. Our son will get a gift card to a marine supply store that he favors. Something for the sailboat is always a good bet. Our daughter always needs and wants cash. The color is always right and it always fits!

John did the marketing yesterday and came home with one of my favorite things, a bag of those very small tangerines. So deliciously sweet/tart.

Lin: I got a new Dick Blick art supply catalog in the mail. It is at least 1 1/2 “ thick. Filled with goodies. You can request one and they will send it for free, of course. I think you might need one in your creative area for reference etc.

Sandy: congratulations on your big bingo win! Speaking of crime and safety, we all worry about the safety of our loved ones. In truth, even in this very rural sea coast area, it seems everyone has a gun. That alone terrifies me. We are also experiencing a huge increase in transient population. Some are mentally ill, some are criminals, some are professional beggars and some are people who are down on their luck.

Have a happy day and restful evening, dear sneakers. Hello to Buzz, Anne, Lin, Sandy, Jackie, and sneakers, one and all!

Good afternoon. The weather has been superb today. The best we will have for a while. The former library ladies got together this morning and there were lots of laughs as well as some serious and some political conversation. I enjoy our fun and laughs the most. Afterwards, I met with one of the ladies to give her a little something. That led to another conversation as if we hadn’t been sitting together talking for a few hours but one on one conversation is different.

I finally left and drove out to Costco to fuel up my vehicle while it was relatively warm and sunny. Then a stop at Walmart to pick up some shelf stable food for my friend with Alzheimer’s. I hope she can still read directions and use her microwave. It is a try. My goodness, Walmart was busy beyond belief! I parked near the end of the lot. It is a weekday, apparently many people have a day off or some kind of odd working schedule.

I came home for lunch and got wrapped up in a little project and of course did not change my clothes. White gesso on my new shirt led to a load of laundry. Eeeeck. Well, not too bad, still tiny white specks in a few places. I will still wear the shirt, I am not proud.

Buzz, nice to hear from you. I am glad you received some positive news.

Patsy, oh I am jealous, a Dick Blick catalog. Lovely. I have requested one a few years ago but they sort of ignore me. I receive one or more emails a week. Good for you having a reference book at hand. Money is extremely handy and much appreciated. Good choice.

Sandy, wow, what a great Bingo win. Very good. They played Bingo today at the Senior Center and they play with dimes. I hear the big pot is about $5.

Jackie, I am still laughing about George hiding from the groomer. What a bright dog he is! I need to go back for the second package of lightbulbs but meanwhile, a bulb burned out in a little lamp in my bedroom. I have had that lamp forever and of course, the strange little bulbs look to be as gone as the dinosaur! I cannot even read the writing on it so cannot hunt online. Well, there is one bulb left and the light is dim but it is working. Haaaaa.

Anne, hello, you probably posted on the prior page and I will likely lose my post if I move too far.

Hugs to Jeri, Shirley, Diane, Marie and the rest of our dear friends.

No I'm not on the previous page LIN. In truth I don't know where today went! I got engrossed in a project, and that's my excuse anyway.
I've a bit of a confession to make. The groceries showed up carried in by a rather handsome very, very dark skinned guy. He wasn't wearing sunglasses it being a somewhat overcast day. Jilly wagged her tail and barked and barked and this very big man said in a very Dorio sounding voice what the absent Dorio always said to her, "You funny little thing". He was very courteous and nice, carefully bringing in the groceries and shutting the storm door and the inner door and I'm left wondering was THAT Dorio? Minus sunglasses. I do hope so. I really hope he was transferred earlier onto another route and is now back with us! I just couldn't ask are YOU Dorio and plead short sightedness! It sounds so lame!
So groceries put away, lunch over, Jilly having her afternoon nap, I got carried away on one of my less than perfect projects.
Meanwhile you gals have had a much more interesting day! Moor striding, hunting for light bulbs, talking to library ladies, new babies, braving the streets of Chicago, tangerine shopping, and all I've done is while away the time doodling!
More doodling tomorrow because the snow starts again overnight, a lot predicted, so no Michael showing up on the doorstep, just Barry and hopefully his snow blower.
    Anne, the boring.

A gloomy day with low cloud and rain so I decided it a good time to try out my new slow cooker with a beef casserole. Oh dear, still I think imagining I was preparing veggies for a larger pot I ended up with far too many carrots, parsnips and turnip but in a hurry to get out with George and Betty I pushed everything in, switched on and off we went. Before coming home I drove to a Duchy nursery owned by Prince Charles to pick up a few Christmas gifts and found it full of ladies dressed to kill and extremely posh... it is quite expensive so all price labels are checked carefully by me. Thank goodness I had put smarter shoes in my car to change out of muddy walking boots otherwise I might have been banned!😄. Back home the slow cooker is doing its best to cope with the overload but I’ve a feeling my stew won’t be ready to eat this evening. 🙄

While Mr T visited us for the NATO conference earlier in the week Melania visited a school and one young pupil said she was shocked to hear her admit she had never eaten a mince pie!! You weren’t the only one Buzz. 😃

Oh dear, the rain is getting heavier and I need to pop into town to post my overseas cards.
Happy Friday everyone. Stay warm and dry!

Cold but partly sunny. Will probably stay at home until stopping by the post office and then on to my reflexologist appointment.

Jackie, I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to even go into that shop. I hope you found what you were looking for. It is the time of year for gatherings of ladies. Several of our Mah Jongg players are attending a Christmas luncheon next Tuesday. Lots of gatherings and opportunities for folks to dress up in their best. There was a retiree luncheon yesterday put on by the company I worked for. I did attend several of those but now I find them tedious and boring. 😂😂

Anne, that is an odd occurrence. Dorio or not Dorio?? How did you learn his name initially? Apparently they don’t send you a message saying who will be delivering to you? With the few orders I have tried, I get a first name and a photo each time.

Patsy, I ordered a Dick Blick catalog last evening. It would be nice to have on hand. I wish the store here had not closed. But that is ancient history. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sandy, hello to you. Now what’s on your agenda today? I think I have lost track.

Buzz, I hope you got some rest last night. Hugs.

Tomorrow is paper crafting day at the library with the usual fun folks. But additionally the public is welcome to come in to make Christmas gift tags for several hours. It is usually popular. A madhouse of people sorting through the materials provided by the library and quite loud. 😎

Must move along. Hugs to everyone.

    Lin❤️🙋🏼‍♀️

Snowing here, a quiet day for Beanie and myself.
How did I find out Dorio's name LIN? He just said "I'm Dorio" the first time he came. Unless hijacked, you can't mistake the grocery truck for anything else. Bright green, its got the name plastered all over it. Plus "let the groceries come to you" and tasteful paintings of bunches of carrots and asparagus adorning the sides. Inside a refrigerated section so we don't end up with soggy icecream etc.

I don't go to retiree lunches anymore, partly lazy, partly my age group are slowly disappearing, hopefully like me lazy or in retirement homes and partly because my days of dressing up and owning dress up clothes are long gone. My idea of dressing up is to wear my gold hoop earrings.

So you got to shop with the gentry JACKIE? Well in my books YOU are the gentry. Do you remember a muddied princess Anne crawling out of muddy water on the other side of a horse jump fence?
    As Kipling wrote,

    The colonels lady
    And Judy O'Grady
    Are sisters under the skin.

Been dying to quote that for years!

I'm thinking homemade birthday cards for those unfortunate to be born in January! Over here anyway! It's a little late for anymore Christmas cards and the overseas ones are on their merry way. Too late to retrieve!
So happy doodling, paper crafting, turnip watching or whatever all you lovely ladies are doing this snowy Friday,
    Anne,

Happy Friday! :) Laundry is going and then to the dealer for an oil change. All set with my supplement and drug coverage insurance, just have to be approved. I did go with Plan F although was tempted to go with G. Change is hard. Only those from the US will know what I am writing. lol If I get ambitious I will wrap the kiddos Christmas presents so I don't wait until the last minute. Lisa invited me to go with to her clubhouse in the morning where the kids will see Santa. I doubt I will go since it is at 9:30 in the morning. They went on a Polar Express ride the other day and I asked the kids how they liked it. Robby said it was just a train ride, they didn't really go to the North Pole because there was no snow. And it wasn't the real Santa Claus so I don't think he was impressed and way too smart. lol

Here is the extent of my inside decorations:

I did decorate my balcony with lights and a wreath. I also decorated the foyer between me and the neighbor across the hall.

    Ho, Ho, Ho.
