Hello lovely Sneakers! I had a wet and windy start to my day and that wasn’t my shower and hair dryer!! I think this storm was called Sebastien but he flew by quickly so no major problems. A bit of shopping after our walk in the woods then not much achieved. Last night I spoke to our local Smithy about lining the chimney in my dining room and putting a small wood burner in there so he will drop in Thursday evening to take a look. This is all a part of my plans to swap rooms round so my dining room will then be next to the kitchen and far more practical. I’m still battling with Apple passwords and must have reset at least 4 times but although I make a note on a pad I’m told it’s wrong when I try to enter it. Oh well, I’ll get the hang of it one day!

Sandy, I couldn’t view your video as it popped up a window saying not available in my country because it contains Demon Music, whatever that is. Anyway no risk of me being offended! 😆. Enjoy your friends company today.

I must feed the pets and myself although they are snoozing but once I move there will be a rush to the kitchen I’m sure. You’re all being far more active than me today so I had better get myself going tomorrow. One lazy day is ok but not more!

    Happy Tuesday 💕

Bless you all and happy for SANDY that she need not baby sit today! PATSY's Thanksgiving sounds fabulous and ANNE's plans sound likewise. JACKIE, my passwords keep me from enjoying my iPad as much as others do, but I seem to never type them properly! The iPhone is not much better! Thank goodness for the PC, which also has problems with my numb fingers! LIN, thank you for asking; Medicare starts in 2020, so I am taking advantage of Hiumana transportation which will get me to my beloved original dermatologist on Monday, IN My Wheelchair! Right now, I am too winded to walk more than a few steps! Wow, falling apart is a weird experience, but I think my Nurse Practitioner will be very available when necessary! The RLS is so annoying I cannot stay still for the bugs crawling up my bones, but I will find a decent neurologist once back on Medicare. Well, your elder crank must log off so my love to you all.................

    Cold and wet this afternoon.

We had a good time this morning but didn’t end up playing Mah Jongg that long. Just one game in and the fire alarm went off with a voice (probably just recorded) saying a fire has been reported in the building and to evacuate via the nearest exit. We started to pack up to leave and a lady who runs a business not far from where we were seated came over and said, just stay here, I am calling the office and I do not think there is an actual fire. I really didn’t want to take a chance given that one of our players moves very slowly but we did cool our jets. Turns out we did not need to leave but we switched over to Cribbage. I had one 20 point hand which pleased me! Haaaaa.

So I did not mention that yesterday afternoon I did not end up getting anything accomplished as my friend called and once again I could not get off the phone. So hours of conversation where it takes all of my patience and best thoughts to continue on. She has been formally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Her granddaughter is struggling to cope. The doctor said she needs to go over there everyday and needs to ride with her grandma and if she doesn’t feel safe, she needs to take the car away. That does not seem to be practical and it will not work.

    I ran across this today.

Rain for the ninth day in a row so everything and everyone is feeling soggy! Washing down woodwork with sugar soap seemed a good idea ready to open up the toxic paint I was using a few weeks ago. If I can finish by 5pm it should be dry by the time I get up Tomorrow morning. Apart from this chore I’ve enjoyed a lovely telephone chat with a good friend I’ve known all my life as she lived just a few doors away when we were growing up. It’s cup of tea time while the sugar soap dries and I watch Escape to the Country.
    Happy Wednesday... I’ll be back!

Good morning. The snow missed us. Loads of rain overnight and a couple of flakes this morning. The wind is howling though and it is cold! I wore four layers of clothes and a stocking hat when making my trip to the grocery store this morning. I went early and it wasn’t too busy. Later on I would expect it will be crowded.

Time to try to bake something. Fingers crossed. Haaaaa

Jackie, oh my, nine days of rain. Very very soggy. I would likely be moldy by now. Escape to the Country? A property purchasing show??

    Wishing everyone a good day.

    Hugs.

Eascaoe to the country is one of my favourite shows on our TV. JACKIE. I love to see the inside of the cottages etc and get all sorts of ideas for decorating etc. I like the local history and attractions which accompany this series. House Prices seem comparable to here a few years ago when the series was shown on British TV.

Nine days of rain LIN. It sounds like a version of The First Day of Christmas!

It's very warm for this time of year, and also very rainy and soggy. Nothing happening, just a potter around day which I'm enjoying. Made out my grocery list and I've ordered six rather expensive Christmas crackers to pull after dinner. Hope they are as pretty as shown! I can't imagine Christmas dinner without bangs, corny jokes and paper crowns. And the small toy of course which is usually rather useless. They just GO with Christmas pudding, Brandy sauce and the after dinner drink.

I think I've entered my second childhood!
    Hugs to all,
    Anne.

Happy Wednesday! :) Our late birthday celebration was great yesterday even though I lost some money gambling. It is so windy and cold today I am not going to bingo. I have been doing so much driving lately I need a break. Tomorrow is another long ride to Lisa's aunt and uncle for Thanksgiving. Today will be some catch up on bills and TV shows that I have recorded.

Jackie, that is so weird about my youtube video. Although I play a game on my computer and the other day it said I could not play since it is outlawed in the UK. Had no idea what that meant but it worked again yesterday so some kind of fluke.

The only thing I am doing on Black Friday is getting my oil changed, no stores or crowds for me. I was invited to meet the same friends from yesterday to get together Friday night but I declined due to the traffic I think there will be.

Nothing exciting going on here, so I wish you all a good day.

Just spoke to a dear beautiful friend who no longer lives here and realized how life changes so much as we "mature". Her husband was a Vietnam Vet, affected badly by Agent Orange and am counting my blessings!
LIN, I've a folder dedicated to dementia, and the tears flow reading the papers! Such degradation, and dreadful jokes made by people who are ignorant.
The only thng I'm hoping for on lack Friday is a decent sale on the cbdMD lotions I use for my shoulder, as they are expensive and I'd appreciate a deep price cut! The tens unit is something I will learn to use once I'm back on medicare, as I can then go to the PT gals upstairs and learn how to apply the pads properly! Dealing with the hip, the shoulder and the augmentation of my Restless Leg Syndrome has me gritting my teeth constantly! A nice vendor on Etsy is sending me a sample of her magnesium lotion to see if it will work on the legs! I thought that was unusual and lovely of her!
Sandy, I couldn't get that video to work on my computer either! But I cant sit still long enough to enjoy much anyways.
Have a super holiday everyone, and enjoy the turkey and stuffing. Me, I love cranberry sauce! I hope I'm careful, as I have been losing weight and am down about 10 pounds!

I have finally found some time to catch up on what all you have been doing. Thanks to Sandy I was able to find my way back into this site after they seemed to have made changes again. Saved the site in my favorites, so hopefully that will work for me.

A few weeks back we made a trip to our casino for a bit of fun and I actually won $360 the most I have won in 10 yrs. Last time it was $300. At that time we made a trip to a breeders and brought home our puppy...a toy poodle. This time we made a trip to Verizon, so that I could finally replace my flip phone with an Apple 8+. I won't tell you how long I have had my flip phone. With my new cover on it I just have to learn how to use it. Technology and I don't get along well, so I am thankful my hubbie has it all set up now. When I got my kindle tablet I was apprehensive using that, but got that down. Hopefully I will pick this up rather quickly also.

From what I see on our weather channel you all are having lots of rain and some snow. As of yesterday it started raining here as well as bringing very strong winds. The mountains, 1/2 hr away, is getting dumped with snow. We don't get snow. With so many people traveling this is a horrible time for that. Glad to finally get some rain, because we are way behind in getting it.

Headed to our sons and family for a Thanksgiving brunch tomorrow. Since they are only 1/2 hr away it is an easy trip. Our daughter and family spends every Thanksgiving at her in laws for 10 yrs now. Don't understand it, but it is what it is. Our place isn't very lg, so seating 11 people is a bit of a problem anyway. Christmas we all get together at her place....her in laws and family as well as all of us.

Have our eyes on the news. There has been a large fire down by Santa Barbara. You take the back road from there to my sisters home about 20 min away. Know exactly where the fire has been burning. As of this am the fire was 20 % contained, but they have also had a lot of rain today helping containing the fire somewhat. Last yr it was my brother up north and now her. Glad we live in the city !!

It seems as if everyone has been keeping pretty busy. Hopefully those that are having some health issues are getting some relief soon. If it isn't one thing it is another. Glad to hear Buzz that you are going to see a dermatologist. A second opinion is always good. Maybe the neurologist has some other answers for your legs. Hope your voice is getting back to normal Sandy. Enjoy Anne following you and the discussion of where to move Mum too. I am sure you will like the change when it happens. Jackie....one project after another. Look forward to some future photos. Patsy finding a way to utilize some senior stairs definitely would be nice to have. Good luck with that. And Lin you are such a considerate sweet lady to try to find ways to help others that are in need. You are a jewel to a lot of people. Sandy I love that line dance clip that you put on fb. They sure looked like they were enjoying themselves......"demon" music and all. lol

Put up the Christmas tree today though that is about all we are going to do. Lots more could be done, but no one sees it anyway. Getting to be too much work. For those that celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow have a wonderful day. Shall be thinking of everyone.....

    Diane

Well I guess all you southern girls are dolling yourselves up, or slaving over a hot stove. I had no idea thanksgiving, state side, was today. The TV was full of dire traffic warnings in driving snow, but not a mention of the date. I thought it would be Monday or Sunday like us! Whatever day, I hope it's joyous and you are all content and full of a glorious lunch or dinner. Makes my baked sausage roll, spud and veggies look very pauperish.

Listening to the radio, the host was asking for stories about bargain shopping. Well I didn't tell them my Best Buy, but I can bore you! I found the most beautiful expensive looking coat in a store when I lived in the UK. I couldn't believe my eyes, on sale and extremely cheap. I just had to buy and off I trotted with it to the cashier. She looked at the price tag and said this is wrong, it costs far more than this. The manager was called and we all trotted off to the rack. Everything was marked the same as my coat. Someone had marked them all wrongly. Sadly I put it back on the rack and the manager said, no it's our fault and you can have it as marked because you've saved us honouring all the other coats mispriced. I wore that coat for years! But I wonder what happened to the unfortunate soul who had just changed the real tags for sale tags! Anyway it's made me wonder what your best bargain was.

The groceries arrived, as good as ever, but this time delivered by a rather surly bloke whose demeanour matched the gloomy weather. Jilly, who is convinced she is protecting me from these gents barked her little head off and didn't help although I told her she was a good little girl for protecting mom when he left.

You will realize by now, nothing exciting going on here!
    Anne.

Happy thanksgiving dearest sneakers! If you aren’t celebrating thanksgiving today...I am still very thankful for the amazing friendship we share here. Would dearly love to share some turkey and pumpkin pie with you all. Since that is not possible, know that you are cared about and you all are in my thoughts today and always.🍗🍗🍗🥧🥧🥧🍽🍽

Happy Thursday and/or Thanksgiving~ :) Waiting for my son and Lisa to text me when they are on their way to her aunt and uncle. I don't want to get there before them just because.
I picked up my box of edible fruit and the wine is ready to go. Appetizers start at 3 and dinner is at 5. I am sure it won't be a late night as the kiddos have to get to bed. I am not a big fan of holidays ever since my first divorce. We used to do most of the entertaining and I loved every minute of it, now not so much. Don't get me wrong, I love being with family but mine are spread out all over and I do love being with the kiddos but it isn't the same. I know I will enjoy myself once I am there but then will be glad to get home. I really am not a scrooge it just seems that way. lol

Have a wonderful day and keep smiling.

Our "Dinner" was at 1:00 so all the young servers could be home when their families celebrate. And what a lovely Thanksgiving dinner we were fed! I opted for the turkey with all the fixin's But there was ham or seabass for those who preferred. The squash soup was heavenly and the only dish that needs changing was the green bean casserole. It seemed to be all mushroom soup! The dip for the appetizer vegetables was really delicious! I also chose the excellent apple pie over pumpkin pie and am satiated with a box for tomorrow's lunch!
I have already lost this paragraph, so I'll try to save it somewhere.
SANDY, I'm in complete empathy with your feelings toward celebrations, as I have similar reactions. Ate with the couple who met JACKIE, and they are wonderful people. We hd 8 at our table and all are decent friends, but nothing is the same as being with a partner!
Woke up with gout in entire right foot and still cannot walk. That on top of the restless legs, and a cramp just popping up behind my right knee, ....am I being punished for something????? Cannot sit,.....love you all, my dear beautiful friends!

It’s nearly bedtime but I wanted to pop in before I tuck myself in with dogs and Brady! Whoohoo, the sun shone early this morning so I took our walk across the moors and enjoyed a good 2 mile trek. Both dogs had a great time too but after dropping into town for a few items the rain returned. At the supermarket checkout I was greeted with an open mouth, big yawn and grunt.... goodness me, are there no standards anymore. Hints of Anne’s surly delivery man! 🙄

Our smithy Robbie visited and plans are afoot to line my chimney before Christmas. Exciting and I’d better get on with decorating that room.... now what colour I wonder? Also the builder who will lay a foundation for the greenhouse is onboard so now I have to make plans to clear the area.

Sandy, I hate to suggest it but like you I was always out socialising and enjoying company when younger but think age is a factor when we are happier curled up at home.

Patsy, if you are 8 hours behind me you must all be collapsed in a heap as stuffed as your turkey while the music plays and the board games wait to be played! I’d love a slice of your pumpkin pie but can only dream. ☹️

Are you still perched on your turkey Lin? That is you isn’t it!, 🤭

Enjoy brunch with your son Diane. It’ll soon be Christmas when you can get together with your daughter too.

Buzz, in my post that disappeared yesterday I mentioned we are being warned Black Friday isn’t full of the bargains we’re led to believe so research prices carefully before spending. Apparently only 1 in 4 is a genuine offer!

    Midnight so time for bed.

Hello ladies, it’s been so long. Time gets away on me at the best of times. Right now tho I am sitting at my sisters bedside in Seattle while she sleeps. Nothing else to kept me busy but my iPhone. Poor darling sister Val has very little time left. The darn cancer has now spread to her bowels and colon. We’ve been here for about 10 days and at first we thought they could do a treatment which would give here another couple of months. But it didn’t happen.
Later this evening I’ll catch up by reading posts. Ed and I will be sleeping in her room tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving to my US sneakers. Hugs. Jeri

I'm so very sorry JERI. It brought back memories of my dad who was going through the same ordeal at this same time of year. Very, very sorry.

JACKIE is quite right about how we change our socializing habits as we age. My Mom would write me at Christmas on how she hated going to her niece and my cousin for not only Christmas Day but until January 1st every year. They were being kind of course but all Mom wanted to do was stay home with the fire, the TV, and her treats. I love seeing my little family, but once the clock says 10 o'clock I want to be home but can't leave until Michael is ready, and he of course is the life and soul of the party. Gone are the days of staying up to see the new year in. I try to keep awake because both boys phone happy new year on the stroke of midnight.....but it's hard!

Well, the said Mike will be over later. I need overseas stamps from the post office. Better wear my polo neck sweater because the temperature is plummeting.

Thinking of Jeri and her family and Buzz. Thinking of everybody but especially those of us with sadness and pain.
    Anne ♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️

How terribly sad JERI. Nothing to be done or said other than to stay close and know Val will feel your love and take great comfort from your presence. My heart goes out to you. <3<3<3

When I was standing in the garden in thick fog around 7.30 while the dogs had their early morning "break" I was amazed how mild it was considering we are expecting a blast from "oop North". An hour later as I headed out to my car for a quick trip to our Aldi store I was suddenly brrrr, very cold! I do believe we will see the sun again on Sunday and possibly Monday and Tuesday too so I'll be making the most of that!

The next door property has a man sitting on its chimney while work is being carried out and of course, being up there he has to shout down to his mates so guess who's barking for the whole of the parish to hear? :o George's groomer is visiting at 2pm so I've given him a quick brush even though I know she will find a few knots and embarrass me. On the table in the garden room where he stands to be groomed he could see the man astride the chimney so that really got him cross!!

As ANNE says, thinking of Jeri, Ed and family.

Happy Friday! :) First let me say how sorry I am Jeri and prayers for you and your family. The pictures you posted on Facebook of your sister are wonderful. You look so much alike. It is always terrible to lose someone but during the holidays even harder. Stay strong and feel our hugs and love. <3<3

Our Thanksgiving was great in spite of me complaining. The kiddos were well behaved and the turkey was delicious even though I ate way too much. Met new people and it was great to see Lisa's other relatives. Only problem was when I got home I was sneezing and coughing and hoarse again. I have decided it was because I had two glasses of wine and my immune system didn't agree. So today I cancelled the oil change and took some mucinex D and plan to stay in all weekend until I am finally rid of this nasty bug. I think rest is the key and of course no wine. lol
I have to share the picture of me and the kiddos because I love it. We were leaving but told Lisa I need a picture because you never know if I will be here next year. She shook her head at me but took the picture. lol
    7dgtmtd5fctx.jpg

And yes Jackie as we get older it is better to stay in and enjoy the quiet.

    Have a great day.

SANDY, that photo is irresistible! But I'm glad you've decided to take care of that little health problem over the weekend. Do feel better.
JERI, always delighted to see you back, but this visit is not an east time for you and therefore, for us! I do hope she will not suffer! Our hearts, prayers, and white light go out to all of you, dear friend!
JACKIE, despite the work, weather, et al, you do sound comfortably cozy in your darling home! Hope it's a good season for you..........actually for us all! Oh, my 2 Black Friday buys were exactly what I was waiting for! The cbd wasn't even advertised ($90 saved!) and J.Jill had a 40% sale on pants I've been waiting for, so I will now have white pants for Christmas!
LIN, PATSY, ANNE, DIANE, whom did I miss? Unintentional, you know, but twitching legs don't help concentration! XOXOXO everybody!

It was a windy and cold walk this morning but being a Saturday there were lots of dog walkers so Betty had lots of fun running circles, especially with Buster, a new friend who is the cutest white, long haired Jack Russell. Even George took to him so no grumbling and I must say he’s looking gorgeous after his haircut.
Home again to muck out the hens so they now have a cosy warm house but then I noticed a hole under one tiny section of fencing that must be a bloomin’ rat so I’ve filled it with cement, information I’m sure you can live without. 😯

A delightful photo Sandy and goodness, aren’t they growing up fast! Hooray, you are going to rest and hopefully soon feel a whole lot better.

I’m glad you got your bargains Buzz.. It does make a difference to know what you are looking for with Black Friday offers and I’m guessing the not such good offers are the ones catching out those making rash decisions to buy.

Lin, a quiet day for you too.... almost unheard of! 😁 Card making or food preparation?

Well, well it pays to complain in a measured way. The utility company just phoned about my email on the ever increasing standing order bills arriving for the sold house and I’ve had an apology and complimentary dropping of any invoice for small amounts of gas used. Also my missing Christmas cards ordered from Amazon have arrived so I can get the international ones on their way before our anticipated mail strike. I must begin my Christmas shopping on Monday and also find a special gift for the neighbours who helped me through my post hip operation weeks with humour and patience.... lots of both required from all of us!!

Ah, here comes the rain so I’ll get the fire roaring and put the kettle on. I was going to begin stripping wallpaper in my dining room but each time I go in there I get sidetracked by the jigsaw puzzle on the table!

Happy Saturday everyone. Continuing to think of Jeri and send hugs.❤️❤️

A friend let me know that Sir Winston Churchill was born today. Wouldn't he have been proud of the brave British men who tackled the knife wielding terrorist on London bridge yesterday despite the fact that they didn't know the explosive belt the terririst was wearing was fake. Sadly, his two victims will not be celebrating Christmas with their grieving families.

Here it's freezing, and I mean freezing. The Bean and I had a frozen mail box walk. A good day to settle down indoors to some drawing and painting. Just one other brave older man venturing forth with a wee white dog for Jilly to rub cold wet noses with.

I'm glad I mailed the overseas cards yesterday Jackie if a strike is imminent. Will it be after the December 12th election?

Anne, the Post Office has placed an injunction on the threatened strike but the union is appealing so it's going to be last minute and possible walkouts which will mean a horrible build up of mail. Whoever wins the election is going to have to deal with unrest in all sorts of areas!
Unbelievable that murderer was let out of prison as a known terrorist. There's something horribly wrong with our justice system but I do think enough people are fed up with these attackers so prepared to take them on.
    Keep warm. 😊
