Good morning.
Buzz, wow, what a tremendous dancer/entertainer. And such a lovely evening. Wonderful❤️❤️❤️❤️
Topped by no restless leg problems. I am so happy for you.
Jackie, yes indeed, all the work and changes to your house is transforming it into an even more comfy and wonderful home. The stair case is beautiful! I have lived in a house without a rail and I always felt like I was about to topple. Great addition.
Anne, haaaa, I can just see Jilly using her big eyes on you as you decorated. How very nice that you have some holly. Beautiful. As you say, you should enjoy it this season.
Sandy, how did the evening with the kiddos go? Ha, yes, how to get packages into the house? And are they hidden? Due to small children and a young Husky I would guess yes!
I am going to a book club meeting this morning and have many errands I would like to mark off my list but I am guessing I will do one or two each day for the remainder of the week.
The time at the library yesterday was lots of fun, some progress made on this extremely difficult puzzle with several staff members stopping by on their breaks to visit and maybe putting a piece into the puzzle. They are looking into the possibility of extending the time for this. We are either getting the puzzle out or putting it away! Haaaaaa. 😉
Must run along now.
Hugs.

Happy Wednesday! Actually, Lisa put all the presents on the dining room table away from Charlie and Ewok. The older boys know not to touch the presents which is amazing to me. Of course Santa's presents are hidden so no surprise is ruined.
Bryanna has to work Christmas Eve so we are waiting on her to see when we can get together to celebrate. The kiddos will open my presents when that happens which I hope is before Christmas. I see lots of driving in my future. lol
Tonight is bingo after visiting my friend who may come tonight. She is missed by many people so I do hope she does as this is the last bingo before the New Year.
Lin, kiddos were fun as usual and Ewok was his wild self. Rob asked me when puppies calm down and I said you have another year. lol
Buzz, sounds like a wonderful evening and even better your legs cooperated.
Jackie, I love the new staircase, I can't wait for everything to be done and you can show us all the wonderful pictures.
Hello to everyone, make today a great day.
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
Good morning dear ones! It is a cold dark day and possibly preciatation of some sort in the afternoon. Not my favorite thing these days. As I have whined to you all before, I do suffer with SAD and this is the time of year that is a struggle. The Christmas lights help.
I had a real walk down memory lane as I gathered my list of stuff for Christmas gumbo. Unfortunately I must relie on frozen shrimp. A Cajun no-no. But I have no choice. Had fun just looking at the handwritten recipe from my grandmother. Her handwriting was horrible. She had a very basic education in a catholic school. From the looks of her writing, she rebelled at formal education and her English was “interesting.” My German grandfather was another story.
John worked up handmade cards for our son and daughter’s Christmas checks. I know it is somewhat less than romantic to give money but it is the thought and love that counts, as the saying goes. He used one of my paintings as a graphic. Once again we realize how important contact with our children is. Our world has turned around. They take care of us like we used to take care of them. All though we did take pretty good care of our grandparents.
I watch the news with terrified wonder. Change and drama! Hope and pray for a good outcome for our whole planet.
Love you all and wish you a blessed holiday season full of friends and family. Some good food and drink, quiet time to enjoy it and meditate on the coming new year.

It is bone chilling cold here with bits of snow drifting down. Even my youngest said he was freezing on his morning walk. Bean and I haven't been out yet, but will probably venture out to the mailboxes in the mid day sun being both nuts.
I've been writing to friends and relatives and probably boring everybody to bits.
So it's really turning into a blah if pleasant sort of day, the bright spot being an old rerun of Morse on the TV this afternoon. Contemplating baking mince pies while it's playing! To ease my conscience really. If I was a rich woman and could live in Dowton Abbey I'd spend my days writing or drawing.
Boy BUZZ I wish I had your entertainers nimble limbs, however even in my hay day I couldn't leap like a spring lamb!
So having nothing remotely interesting to write today I'll wander off and contemplate flour, lard, butter etc.
Anne with the red nose and Jilly with the cold wet one.

No other word but dreadful for our weather today. Torrential rain, the sort so many of us now comment on as being not at all British and a screaming gale whooshing down the chimney and round the cottage. George just asked to go out and I struggled to push open the door from the conservatory into my garden then as I held on so it didn’t crash shut he took a leisurely look out before deciding to wander back indoors, obviously preferring crossed legs! A friend collected me earlier so we could visit mutual friends to drop off Christmas cards together. We stayed an extra long time with one whose wife passed away last December so of course is struggling but he has family living close by so won’t be alone on Christmas Day. It was while we sat chatting to him the weather turned from unpleasant to ghastly so once home again I decided to light the fire and relax with my little gang and watch Escape to the Country.
Anne, you’re right about my plans for my cottage. As much as I do my best not to think of getting older I’ve decided I must make a few changes to make life easier for when that day arrives then that way, hopefully, I won’t have to move. I remember those bitterly cold Canadian days although they didn’t usually arrive until January but then our climate is certainly topsy turvy now.
Lin, a busy time for you with enjoyable events thrown in. My current puzzle is a terrible time consumer but I find it incredibly relaxing plus I get a thrill every time a piece slots in place!
Sandy, only another year before Ewok calms down? If he’s anything like Brady who’s been with me just over 3 years you might be optimistic. This afternoon, because he’s bored being indoors he’s reverted to his kitten trick of jumping up behind the tv and doing his best to push it off the shelf. I’m sure he thinks I control the weather!
Hang in there Patsy because Saturday is the Winter Solstice then onwards and upwards. 🌞☀️
Buzz, your entertainer looks and sounds amazing... such energy. Then there’s you with your self control who so deserves to be enjoying the improvements in your health. It does sound to me everyone requires a degree in health insurance to cope though!
I must wake my family and feed them. Ha! I just noticed Brady is already giving me his big “feed me” eyes 👀 so had better head for my kitchen... feed myself too!
Happy Wednesday.
Jackie
PS forecast shows this weather continues until end of the week with 100mm of rain. 🌧💨☔️0 -
Tried to be ready for my dear Liz today, but my phone never stopped ringing with eeryone discovering this one or that one having been left off the reservations list for CHristmas Eve/Day...New Year's Eve/Day...this one needs to bring a widowed friend while that one forgot a different friend, ...and my tables are full!
I'd forgotten that Judy and Gerald wanted to bring a widowed friend, and thought seating them with a dear couple of retired doctors from the Phillipines, where the Evanses used to live,
was a stroke of genius BUT I goofed and haven't enough room! The wife is now a retired physician confined by Parkinsons, lovely person. I suggested if I do not come to dinner, there would be room for everyone! Oh well, I messed that up.
I'm pasting an article I just read re: the new "meatless burgers", just in case you are planning on going vegan!
-CSPI-.....
One bite of a Beyond Burger—and one look at its red-beet-tinged raw “meat”—might fool some carnivores. Ditto for the Impossible Burger, which has been sold in select restaurants since 2016 and is now starting to hit supermarket shelves. Both up-and-comers will help the planet more than your health, but that’s no small potatoes. aturated fat. Mimicking beef’s rich, fatty mouthfeel calls for a solid fat: coconut oil. But that adds saturated fat (6 grams to the Beyond Burger and 8 grams to the Impossible Burger), along with about 250 calories in a 4 oz. patty. Those numbers are very, um, beef-like. And Beyond Meat’s claims (like “fueling athletes to perform better & recover faster”) are a stretch. But going beyond beef is a big win for the planet. For meaty taste that comes close to Beyond but cuts the sat fat to 2½ grams, try Lightlife’s new Plant-Based Burger. It’s 270 calories of mostly pea protein and canola oil, though the sodium (540 milligrams) is higher than Beyond.
Mix it up. Some plant-based meats—like the Impossible Burger and the Beyond Burger—are not much healthier than beef, especially when restaurants gussy them up. But most veggie meats beat the real thing. Granted, you’re better off with beans, nuts, tofu, and other largely unprocessed plant foods.
. Get enough protein. If you’re replacing meat, poultry, fish, or dairy, look for at least 10 grams of protein per serving (roughly 3 oz.). Don’t need protein from your burger? Don’t worry about it.
Watch the salt. Unfortunately, it’s tricky to replicate the taste of meat without a decent dose of salt. Tip: Serve your plant-based meat with salad or stir-fried or roasted vegetables to bump up the potassium. Getting enough helps keep a lid on blood pressure.
5. Check the oil. Many veggie meats are made with liquid oils like sunflower, avocado, canola, or soybean. So they’re not only lower in saturated fat than beef or pork, they’re higher in heart-healthy unsaturated fat. Win-win.
But brands like Beyond Meat and Field Roast also use solid (saturated) fats like coconut or palm oil.
Look out for Quorn. In some people, Quorn’s “mycoprotein” (processed mold) triggers reactions like vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. Rarely, it causes hives or trouble breathing!
Follow your taste buds. Brands (and tastes) vary, so hang in there. Our favorites: Gardein, Beyond Meat, and MorningStar Farms
Just in case!

Heavens BUZZ!!
I decided to put the garbage in the separate garage, put my foot outside the back door and nearly fell flat on my back. We have a skating rink out there any hockey star would be proud of. It's minus 8 with a wind chill of minus 17 C which translated is 18 Fahrenheit and 5 Fahrenheit overnight. Very cold with the wind and I'm afraid poor Jilly didn't get her walk to the mail boxes. I comforted myself with looking at JACKIES cosy fire with some envy!
Anne.0 -
Even colder today at minus 12. I'm burrowing in my igloo with my trusty sled dog Jilly Bean.
I found my old Derbyshire home on google earth. Apart from a front door change of colour and an extension added, pretty much the same. The silver birch I planted in the front garden is thriving after 50 odd years! Pleased about that! I must admit to feeling a little teary eyed but life goes on. Although I wouldn't say no to transferring the fireplace to here after viewing Jackie's roaring fire. Hope "they' haven't boarded it up!

I think I've found a treasure in Dorio. Grocery store didn't have light bulbs and he actually offered to go to the local stores to pick me some up. I said I could manage of course, but wasn't that nice.
If Jill and I actually do move next year we will add Dorio to our list of people we will miss!
Sometimes I wish time would freeze in place!

Happy Thursday! Meeting today and it is our potluck Christmas luncheon. My gluten free meatballs are in the crock pot, my gifts for my sponsor and sponsee are wrapped, all I need to do it eat and get ready.
No win at bingo but my friend did go and was welcomed back by everyone.
Three cheers for the impeachment! Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray.
Enough said, have a good day.

Good morning.
I am with the former library ladies today. Lots of fun.
The weather is getting warmer. Wahoo! I don’t mind a bit. 🤗
Sandy, enjoy yourself today. 🥳
Anne, oh Dorio, what a sweetie. I hope you have enough light!
Buzz, ugh, no meat substitutes for me. Just give me some tofu!!
Hugs. Back to the conversations.

Hello from wet, dark and cold north Oregon coast. I think Christmas will be rainy...as usual. That means we wear our Christmas sweaters all the time now.
Found an acceptable substitute for my old favorite Cajun seasoning in Walmart, of all places. I found some pretty big raw shrimp in Costco. Since John has banned all okra, I think we have the makings for a pretty good gumbo. So my family will tolerate the gumbo while I revel in this seafood soup from my childhood. Christmas does that to us all, I think.
I think we have figured out the smart TV. I am not a techie and this TV is a mystery at times. I watched a lot of the impeachment debates. Wow! Revealing and amazingly interesting. There were some elegant speeches on both sides. However, I feel certain that what happened needed to happen. Now what? Hope we all come back together as one country.
Anne: isn’t it fun to step back in time and look at our childhood homes etc? I love doing that. Our big old farm house is still in the family. The generations just keep handing down this funny old place. It certainly is not pretty and never was. The big barn has turned into a garage and guest house. The horse barn is new. The pasture is still huge and I think I see at least 4 horses. I was happy there as a kid. I had lots of creatures as my friends. Dogs, cats, geese, ducks, chickens, goats and horses, and a little donkey.
Sandy: you sound so organized I think I really need to find your secret. There may not be any hope for me. Always behind, always trying to catch up. I am a time waster. My family is tolerant, thank goodness.
Buzz: you are most likely too busy to have watched the debates. The wheels are turning and things are going to get better soon. The wounds will begin to heal. Thinking of you and wishing you and your daughter peace and good health.
Lin: I am amazed at puzzle solvers. I get frustrated and force pieces together that shouldn’t go together. Never a good idea! So glad you have found such a great group of nice ladies to share time with.
Jackie: the stairs that you are planning are wonderful. You are right about planning for the future. Not only is it a matter of safety but the upgrade for your home is a good investment. Not that you would ever sell and move, but you could if you wanted to. Katie is starting to get a bit “round” and cutting back on her treats is very difficult. She is very active...but she is a chow hound! She demands her treats at the usual time. Less and different kind of treat is my current strategy. (?)
Coffee, bake pumpkin cookies for Kate and our son’s doggies. It is required to Listen to a bit of Handles Christmas.🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

Good evening lovely ladies. Another horrendous wet and windy day but first thing I managed to get into the local supermarket before 9am so missed the crowds that were arriving just as I left. A few treats were bought although once again I ignored mince pies and Stollen cake, perhaps too late as my weight creeps up! The rain hadn't arrived yet when I returned home and decided to walk George and Betty on the moors but goodness, 5 minutes into our stroll up came the games and the heavens opened, so much so we were soon hiding in a clump of gorse in an effort to find shelter. That definitely cut short our walk and the 3 of us were relieved to get back to my car. When I stripped off my waterproofs I saw the rain had forced itself through the stitching of the leggings and water had dropped on to my shoe laces so my feet were soaked! So that was my morning and not much else achieved today. I did watch our parliament and Queen's speech as well as observations on the impeachment process. Amazed how so many of the man's followers believe every American is on his side.... really?
Patsy, I'm resorting to giving Betty one kibble biscuit in place of a proper treat and her look tells me she knows!
Anne, what a star Dorio is. You need to adopt him then take him with you if you move. 😁 if you search Google earth for my postcode you'll see just how deep in the sticks I live!!
Lin enjoy the library ladies and Sandy your Christmas lunch.
Buzz, I do occasionally eat Quorn and luckily don't experience sickness. As for your table plan just squeeze another chair in ax I'm sure everyone will understand, certainly, from what I gauged Judy and Gerald wouldn't stand on ceremony!
Enjoy the rest of Thursday. I've got the kettle in and feet up.

Read everything; am crazy busy lokig for simpe things lie my Medicare card, prescriptions, receipts for dental work, stuff I really need!!! PATSY, you are positively organized compared to me, and yes, as a junkie, I watched everything available. Just sick over the denials and lies and yes, that we have such a head of country who is beyond childish with a mouth that needs washing out! If our kids said the things this person says, they'd have been punished long ago! Well, now I must go pick up packages downstairs, deliver others, and generally take care of errands. December is a beautiful month that can drive us out of our minds, but one out of 12 ain't that bad. I'm feeling a bit better each day, but not getting faster!👍.🤣💖🌹

Hello, under the weather with miserable sinus issues. Nothing new. Sinus problems every day but sometimes it is lots worse. This is one of those occasions. Very low key today. And lots of heat for me and warm tea to sip. Inhaling steam once in a while. That is it.
Wishing everyone a great day while I sit this one out.

Happy Friday! No pound a week until after the holidays!!! Lots of errands to do today including getting my car washed since it has been months. Trying to make plans for Holiday lights at one of the many places including the zoo. Waiting to hear back from Lisa. Doing laundry before I start out and once done with today I should be all set for Christmas.
Lin, I am so sorry you are suffering with sinus issues. Stay in, stay warm and get better soon.
I still don't have my voice back to normal but there really is no sense in going to the doctor for anything viral.
Jackie, I do hope you get your phone and wifi issues fixed and let me know your postcode so I can google earth your side of the world.
Buzz, I agree, December is the busiest month of the year and it comes faster each year.
Patsy, being a little OCD helps me get organized, everything in it's place. Lisa kind of pushed me to wrap the presents, I usually just use bags but she said it is more fun for the kids to unwrap presents.
Anne, will Dorio be able to deliver to Mike's house? He does sound like a treasure.
Have a great day everyone.
Sandy
One Day at a Time0 -
No SANDY, Dorio only delivers in this area. I asked him and said I will probably be moving. He said he would be sorry if we are gone because he wouldn't like to lose touch with me and Jilly. Can't think why, I can't possibly resemble his granny being of the pink and gingery variety! Lol.
It's supposed to warm up tomorrow. Hope so because I haven't been to the mailboxes for a whole week. We lost our home delivery mail man three years ago. Jilly is great friends with the community mail man though if we catch him at the boxes. I haven't been in that direction because the boxes are situated on a particularly icy spot just outside the church. No one salts or gravels this spot which makes one wonder if the aged church population decreases in the winter months.
It's a fact that in the summer months we see lots of folks tottering about in wheelchairs or shoving walkers, but now just me of a certain age and The Bean carefully walking along, me in my big hiking gripping boots. Very elegant!
Things do change don't they. In the UK I wore short skirts, panty hose, and knee high boots with high heels! Now, and here, I'm in hiking boots or Uggs, thick socks, baggy pants and a shapeless hooded anorak. Oh well. The Bean appears to love me and not just for treats or din dins.
Hope LIN is feeling better and JACKIE is sorted out! Hope PATSY isn't worn out cooking or chasing spiders and Katie, and BUZZ isn't tired out partying.
Almost news time, I wonder what Donald is up to. Someone said to me today, he says he's not orange, he says I'm peached. Bad joke!
Anne.

Back online but not sure for how long. My supplier tells me they can’t find any problems and yet crackling and echoes of my voice coming back at me when I can occasionally connect to the phone line tells me something ain’t right. Broadband no better, then my iPad yesterday popped a very polite window up saying sorry, WiFi not available until tomorrow. I may purchase a new phone to see if that’s the problem otherwise back to my supplier with stronger words!
About to walk the pooches so back later, hopefully! 🙄🤨

Quickie because Michael is coming over for lunch which I'm roasting. I've just lost rather an important email which I'm very sad about. This iPad is definitely on the way out. Actually it's just grown old and worn out.

Good morning, sinus headache has abated a bit. Still other nastiness in abundance. I will spare you the details. 😂
I am going to mess about with cards today. Church tomorrow.

Sorry for folks having technology problems. It is so frustrating!
Sipping hot liquids and inhaling steam.
Wishing everyone health and a good measure of happiness.

Hello dear ones! We had a big storm that fried our router but we are back in business now with a new router installed by John! Yea! Hello everyone again, I missed chatting with you.
I have my days activities and chores planned until Christmas. I think I can get it done. I really missed not being connected to the internet. Not sure why but I usually check various things throughout the day. News, email, info on food, artists, publishers contracts etc (Anne) health issues and just plain curiosity.
Washing Katie’s. Muddy little blankets and her towels. She hates getting wet and muddy but seems to be constantly wet and muddy!
You better be good...Santa Claus is coming!

No white whiskery gent had better step inside my place PATSY. I'll set my bloodhound on him!
Mike went home stuffed with roast lamb, veggies and mincepies. Likewise Jilly minus mincepies. Jilly slept all afternoon after long walks and roast lamb. I must admit to nodding off myself.
A rather pleasant Saturday in all.
Anne with the expanding waistline. 🙃♥️🐶❤️😋0 -
Happy Saturday Night! Had our early Christmas with Bryanna, then to Mass with Joe and out to eat. (I had soup and salad since I had a portillo's hot dog for lunch.) Time to relax after a busy day, will be back in the morning. Leaving you with our family picture that came out too blurry, but oh well.
Good night.

ANNE. I think the oramge wonder is trying to figure out how to call bad names concerning the Evangelical paper (formerly run by the late Billy Graham) that denounced him today! It's a WWJS situation that could really wreck his crooked schemes for running the world! Then I heard Ivanka, his vacuous daughter, refusing to say anything that might reflect on anyone in the White House! History in the making , but just seems like a BAD novel!
Anyway, went to visit several friends who've moved to the assisted Living section and was so pleased to see how pleasant it is. Colorful , cheerful, the care is unbelievable, and most of them are thriving!
Did I mention we saw a movie called "The Second Time Around" in our auditorium last evening
and it was purely delightful A late life romance ...so unlikely!
They are showing Downton Abbey this coming Sunday!
Eyes closing rapidly so
I don't recall when I wrote this but !it is one of my "disappeared" posts! Maybe Thursday?

Beautiful picture of a beautiful family, SANDY.
Hope everybody's problems, technical and health , resolve quickly. Cannot feel fingertips tonight and typing tickle/hurts! Otherwise, all's well. Wrapped my swollen elbow in ice and I'm freezing cold but I need to put up with it, everone says. Had a pleasant dinner concentrating on a poet seated next to me instead of on food. Was down another 1/2 lb this morning. Hw could I have let myself gain so much? But at least I'm working on it now!

Happy Sunday! The days are running into each other lately, so many things going on. Later today we are going to the holiday lights at the zoo. Like Anne our weather is springlike going up to 50 degrees. Our early celebration with Bryanna was great as usual. We all exchanged presents and had portillos for lunch. The kids loved their toys and adults loved their's as well.
I have an eye doctor appointment tomorrow but will get the shrimp cooked for shrimp cocktail for Christmas Eve and also the meatballs appetizer. I will be glad when the holidays are over, just too hectic but I do love the family get togethers.
Have a great day.
