Great picture Phyllis!! Hope you enjoyed the party.

Sandy - Enjoy casino trip and hope you win. :)

It was a sunny day and very windy. Dave is down at the boat winterizing it but can't put the tarps on, its just too windy. I am just finished cutting down my trumpet bush and its ready for the winter too.

    Have a great weekend.

I went to both the craft show and the quilt show today. Guess where I spent most of the day? Yep, quilt show...........

Marie - a gal demonstrated her embrodiery machine. It was pretty neat. Here are two versions of a Halloween piece that she did. Sorry my phone camera doesn't show them up really well.

I called the nurses to check on my dad. They were not overly pleased to have me interrupt their day once again and informed me if there was any change they would call me. I said sorry but I live to far away to stop by and check on him so I want to know how he's doing today. Grudgingly they told me he did not get up today but is drinking fluids and is able to swallow his pills.

You know I really do not have much family and none of them close at all but I do have 2 cousins that I actually have phone numbers for---one of them called me today to let me know her brother killed himself last night. He was in his 70's and no one knows what was going on other than he has been fighting some type of mental illness and epilepsy for most of his life. So sad for his family and his grandchildren. I feel bad for them but I do not remember Jim at all, it's probably been over 50 years since I saw him.

Well, it's been a warm day and I was glad I got out there.

Phyllis, I like your costume but I agree---you look great in short hair but you did look glamorous with the long hair.

Shirley - I still have my fingers crossed that you won't get that cold!

Sandy - enjoy your trip to the casino.

Buzz - how are you doing today?

Barbie - did you tell us how Jake's tests turned out? Or perhaps I'm just being a pest and too nosy. Sorry.

    Talk to you soon.

    Hugs to all.

Marie - she was using a *baby lock* machine. I see if you sign up for the e-newsletter they have a free Halloween project PDF file.........

Sorry your thread is breaking. Her machine just held one spool of thread so she has to change it for every color. It was so neat to see it just create things while she stood there and talked to us! You must love it.

Great work Alice!!!! Enjoy your lunch tomorrow.

smiley-happy093.gif Sandy, are you using the "Forum code" on the freesmileys? That's what works for me

smiley-happy002.gif Today was a fairly restful day for me that ended with a potluck event followed by a spiritual speaker. I no longer eat at potlucks so I fixed my regular evening meal before I went and brought my water bottle.

smiley-happy002.gif It rained almost all day so the dogs and I got wet. After the afternoon walk I had to change almost all my clothes but the dogs were very happy.

smiley-bounce021.gifLin, Jake will be going to the hospital next week for his angiogram and after that I'll let you know what happened.

    smiley-happy110.gif Phyllis, you look great.

smiley-happy110.gif The only thing I'm doing for Halloween is at my line dance class. I'm planning a class where we dance familiar dances to Halloween themed music and I'll be wearing the same pumpkin costume I've worn for about 20 years. There are no trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood so I won't be buying any candy.

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.

My word for 2014 is “mindful”
  • I had a chsnce to buy a srrger but i didnt. I figured I wouldn't get time to use it. It was a like new machine with all the paperwork. Those embroidery machines are something else!

Phyllis, you look like a twenties girl. I forget what to call them. Anyway, you are a cutie ♥

I slept Late today, and im still sleepy.

Sandy, its good of you to keep visiting Donna.
Barbie, so glad you are having fun♥
Shirley, hope you both stay healthy, and that you get a break from the wind.
Lin, im glad you get out and enjoy your day. Good for you checking on your dad. What did it hurt them to talk to you? It only took a few minutes.
Buzz, have a little bit of fun!

I enjoyed dinner, sreamed vegetables, a little rice, stuffed scallop. The crab cake was too sweet, like it had added sugar.

    night,
    Phoebe

Maybe ill turn off the tv and get more sleep. !

Happy Sunday everyone and apologies for being away so much but life just seems to be so hectic at the moment. Nothing bad going on and the good news (although not for Northern Ireland and Scotland) was the hurricane tracked north and missed me in Cornwall. I'm not sure I'll ever catch up with all your posts but will do my best to log in daily to at least read about everyone's news. This morning I walked George across the moors and for the first time needed a warm hat and coat as the wind was quite chilly. emoticon-animal-003.gif

I must now get out into the garden to continue the never ending job of tidying and pruning. My bees are still acting as if it's summer and won't take onboard the sugar syrup I'm feeding them for winter stores so am not sure how they'll get on once winter arrives. Our clocks went back last night but I didn't stay in bed for the extra hour but got myself up and out. I do hope everything is good with my MFP mates and BUZZ I'm thinking of Mike and what a wonderful day he would have had yesterday. Love the baby quilt Phyllis but Marie your muffins are to die for!!!

    Hello to everyone else.<3

Tried a new restaurant, actually an old one redone. It was totally gutted and redone and looks great. The new owners put in a fire place on the wall, really neat and makes it nice and toasty.

Lin- Glad you had a fun day and saw some nice quilts. The Halloween ones are really cute. Don't let the staff get to you when you call, its your right to see how your Dad is doing. It's their job to tell you.

Marie- Hope you have a nice day with Alice. Seems she is doing well with WW.
Have you thought about joining her or trying the plan and getting support for the both of you?

Jackie I am glad that hurricane missed you and George. <3 I pruned my trumpet plant yesterday and found another plant which we will have to dig out. It was weaving its way through the plant and taking over. I found the culprit yesterday. ;)

Phoebe[/b]- I tried a new recipe from MFP, Skinny Mac n' Cheese and it was fairly easy and pretty good. We had it with some honey garlic sausage last night for dinner.

    Barbie
-I should try not eating pot lucks in the summer when we are boating. Its hard since that is our dinner time and I would have to make a different meal on the boat just to avoid the pot luck. Wish I could
    .

Our weather has changed today to 51F cloudy and still windy. Going to help DH clean out the shed. He is bringing out the snow blower today. Yikes, that means snow. :s

I tried to undo the bold but no luck.

    Enjoy the day !

It's a sunny windy day here and the temperatures should hold for at least another day. Yippee!

Went to church this morning and kept getting text messages from a friend of my dad's who visits him some Sunday mornings before he goes to church. My dad was awake and since no one ever knows how long that will last and the friend wouldn't be there long, we exchanged some messages---I sent one for my dad and I guess he read it and smiled. Also sent a couple of pictures for him to look at. He wanted to know when I was going to visit so I said probably Thursday. The friend said he smiled a lot and raised up his hand to shake hands when he was leaving. All things I don't think he could have done most of the week. Don't know how long it will last but it worked better than the telephone.

I made some pumpkin/chia seed pudding, I am baking an acorn squash and will probably make almond milk later today.

Going to do some walking around, read the Sunday newspaper, watch some very old movies. I found an archive channel for my Roku where they have public domain things---watched "Bucket of Blood", "White Zombie", "House on Haunted Hill"----all old movies I'd never seen. I've never cared much for horror movies but these don't frighten me........

I am messing around with those partial skeins of yarn and I think I'll rip out what I did, I think there's enough for a little neck wrap or little scarf and I think I'd use that more than fingerless wrist warmers. We'll see. My ability to crochet is not coming back to me too well, I can't seem to maintain even tension on the yarn so the stitches are not looking too great.

Shirley - you get out so much!!! Glad you liked the new restaurant....so it's good enough you'll make a return visit at some point?

Jackie - nice to hear from you. Sorry the bees aren't cooperating with you. I hope they survive the winter even if they refuse to take on the extra food you're providing.

Phoebe - sorry you're tired but apparently you need the rest. Wishing you and DH better and better health.

Barbie - thanks for the Jake update.

Marie - and I hope you are enjoying your day with Alice.

Hugs to all.........sorry for everyone I've missed. Off to make a cup of tea (yep, tea again!).

    Dear friends
Well, I got on the computer today but it took some time. I miss reading all your posts. When I get on I have to read a weeks worth in one day and then forget who said what.
Friday, I cleaned house and there isn't much to clean anymore. Mike did the floors I cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen and that was that. I stripped the bed and did the laundry on Thursday.
Saturday picked up my son and we spent the day together as Mike was helping some friends with things.
Today Church and relaxing. I am going to make taco salad for dinner.

I got on the scale and it finally is going down. I am trying to give up sugar at least 6 times per week. I have been having stomach issues again so I am thinking it is sugar and WALA! the scale went down. I hope the scale isn't broke........LOL.

Marie you are doing great with your menu's and quilting. It sounds like you are enjoying life.
Sandy, have a wonderful trip, and win some money.
Phoebe, Are you and your husband off of work? ( I get behind posts with this internet). It sounds like his readings are high. Are you able to retire? I am sending best wishes to you and your hubby.
Barbie, As usual you are dancing and enjoying your life.
Lin, you are a great lady and you do so much for everyone.
Buzz, I hope you are enjoying your days, are you still doing water exercises? I bike, walk and do some exercises in the pool.
Phyliss, You seem to be having fun.

    Take care

Interesting; I followed BARBIE's instructions perfectly and the picture came up on another website called vanilla forums! Thank you, luv, and this is Mike and his Honor Flight guardian, Dave, and they had a fabulous day. This was taken in front of the WW2 monument in Washington DC.
We went to PBIA to meet and greet the planeload of WW2 veterans as it arrived, and I could not believe the crowds and special welcome from tots to elderly people, waving flags, balloons, and signs thanking these veterans from having saved the world from being overtaken by fascism! I think all were over 90, many quite infirm, but each one with a smile and trying to fight the tears! Emotions ran very high from this trip of a lifetime! I'll try to find one shot of a particular group of welcomers. At least I finally learned how to put photos in that beautiful Kindle Fire HDX Mike's son gave him last February!
    arpttwfnm06z.jpgperiod

These were some of the service people in various uniforms, lined up where the veterans on the Honor Flight exited their plane. There were an estimated 3000 greeters!
Please excuse my not commenting on all the posts I read today, enjoyable except for LIN, who has our support in her difficult period. Glad Jackie missed the hurricane, and loved seeing al your various pictures. I seem to have a problem finding mine once they go into the Photo program! Never figured folders or whatever it takes out, so once they're entered, it's a puzzle to locate them again. I'm certain the new system is better than having to go to Photo Bucket or other sites. Just this old dinosaur learning new techniques!
    Back when I'm thinking straight.

Good morning - Buzz---thanks for the happy smiling picture of Mike. Jeri---nice to see you for a while and hope you and Ed are feeling well. Phoebe - is your cat feeling better this morning? Glad you found some free classics on Roku. I watch those often or when I don't have Internet I am still watching the Waltons. I'm just through Season 2 and John Boy has graduated from high school and got a car. Chris - you just zip through your days and get so much accomplished----I wish I could say I do as much as you. Barbie - always on the go as well, dancing your way through life. Go Barbie! Marie - I'm glad you have your embroidery machine working again. I'm attaching a picture of that little scarf I finished from those partial skeins of yarn I purchased in the craft room of the quilt sale on Saturday. It goes nice with a jacket I have that I wear in the spring/fall.

    l6fdgxwxpt6y.jpg

I'm doing some laundry, cleaning up a little bit, going to sort through paperwork again and then see what's up. I need a couple of things at the store but it could wait until tomorrow. I actually would like a nap I think.......!

Hugs to all. Phyllis, Shirley, Diane, Gayla, Karen, Laura..................you too!!

Lin - Maybe sending pictures will lift your Dad's spirits. Also a very pretty
scarf to go with the jacket.

Phoebe- Sorry about Okie hopes he gets better.

Marie - You still are having some warm temperatures. When does it finally get cooler?

I had a nice long conversation with my friend Elli who is back in hospital. I hope to visit her tomorrow because I have a doctor's apt. across where she will be in Palliative care.

Just came by to shut the computer off before the game start HI there Shirley.

Lin you crocheting makes me want to get mine out. I just may make me a vest to keep warm by. If I can remember how. I never went by a pattern just measurements Night all
    Marie
  • Shirley, I like your sunny day flower.
Marie, I used to get 'crochet fever ', but its gone.
Lin, you are very busy, almond milk, from scratch, and all of your plan ahead meals. That takes lots of time. Do you keep any foods in your freezer?

Little Okie broke his hip at the joint. He spends tonight and tomorrow night at the vet. He will have surgery tomorrow. Poor fella, he was hurting. We don't know how he did it. He is a energy ball, always running and jumping, he loves to race with us, and he always wins.

Marie, ive had an idea. Remember that 'Impossibly Easy Pumpkin Pie ', the one with bisquick? Tonight i read a recipe for practically the same thing, except it was called pudding and it was baked in a crock pot. I was thinking that would be time consuming and how to make it quicker. So im going to try it in the microwave in a mug, and also baked in the oven. Maybe tomorrow, i hope to be at home to do laundry, etc.

Jim had two readings under 200 today. Yay! 178 and 158. He celebrates by having a real coke at dinner, but it was from a fountain and was kinda flat. That reminds me, he needs to check it again.

    Take care,
    Phoebe
