Finally I am sitting down to catch up on how things are going with everyone. Not that I am very busy, but my computer is calling me....LOL

Sandy it sounds like you have been quite busy doing what all that you had to do and now looking after the grandkids a couple of days a week. It gets you out of the house too. Sending them off to school and being there to pick them up. Can get exhausting, especially with 3 but it only will last a few months before your break. My 4 month period of having my granddaughter 5 days a week after school became the whole school year. She was in kindergarten. Rarely see her now because they are so busy, so I am very thankful we got to really enjoy her.

Patsy so glad that you were able to get the required medical care to help you feel better. Medication side effects can be nasty some times. Be sure to get the rest you need to get over what lingers. Thinking of you and your husband.

Lin....Have you been working on any puzzles or has your card designing taken over those hours. You are so talented !! Hardly enough time in the day to get all of your books read. I am sure you are an avid reader too. I tend to do a couple of puzzles a week. I bought myself a set of Apple Airpods. I tried my daughters at Christmas and I loved them. I listen to a variety of music. These Airpods are quite the invention and definitely worth their money.

Jacki....I love your your new haircut and the coloring is so pretty !! I have almost all white hair now like my mom did. I am seriously considering coloring it with highlights, but just the thought of having to grow it out again makes me think twice, plus it would be very costly.

Anne I bet you are loving your fireplace that your son got for you. Is it a heater ? On a stormy day it would be so nice to enjoy looking at it. No doubt it is helping to keep you warmer with all of the storms you are having. Great purchase ! I really miss our real fireplace from our last house. Have to settle for a fireplace on the tv. Better than nothing I guess.

Recently my dr decided it was time to increase a med I have been on. My BP seems to go up and down for no reason. Plus I am seeing an endocrinologist for a change in meds for my thyroid. Now I get reactions and don't know exactly which rx it is. Trying to sort out the BP situation first. However my new thyroid med has me sleeping 3 nights in a row of only 5 hrs each night. Plus I have lots of energy. Too much I suspect. Thinking it has to be changed or adjusted too. More lab work....

Another pineapple express has hit our coastline today with rain and strong winds expected for a whole week. So much snow in the mountains roads are closed and ski resorts are staying closed since they have more snow than they can handle. The Bay Area and Southern California have had snow in places even along the beaches. With the howling winds I wonder how many more trees will go down as well as neighbors fences. So glad we moved from our last house because the trees in our backyard were huge. Once the new growth started in the spring we often would loose branches. What a mess it was to clean up. Pray for everyones safety during these difficult times. Can't even imagine being homeless right now. Those numbers are multiplying as the cost of living and job loss is affecting many in our state. So thankful for what we do have.

Hello to Barbie and Jerri and anyone else I may have forgotten.

    Take care, Diane

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY. I bet you are in for a fun day with those grand kids. Have a chunk of birthday cake for us sneakers as we wish you a year filled with love and laughter.

It’s garbage day here on another snowy day, so I hope the lads appear early to cart away a whole month of garbage. Although the blue box gets picked up weekly the big garbage is every two weeks and I missed the last pick up because of a skating rink drive.

Not only SANDYs birthday but maybe a super day for me and the pup. Mark might come over although he’s still got the sniffles. He ventured forth yesterday for coffee filters. Essential, our coffee filters. !!!

Your hair is really pretty Jackie. When we hit on a super haircut I sometimes wish it would stop growing and remain gorgeous forever.

Loved yesterday posts. Lots of good advice, great ideas, pretty teapots. We are all handling the snow very well including Katie who loves to eat snowballs!

    Anne.

Gosh, I’ve just been outside to feed a porridge oats and natural yogurt mix to the hens and discovered it’s freezing again. Our morning walk on the moors was windy but not so cold so I’m glad we got that out of the way early. Not much planned today although I might do more spring cleaning as it’s definitely not gardening weather! Next Friday Linda and I are going to take a few items to a Hospice charity shop in a town called Launceston, about 15 miles away so it’s a great opportunity for me to rummage through a collection cluttering up the spare room that I no longer have need for.

Anne, I did think it was your ex’s ashes that were destined for the North Sea, not yours, but would still suggest they be sent via parcel post across the Atlantic, more so actually!

Lin, yesterday’s collection of teapots and other Knick-knacks looks rather scary as I’m not sure it would be safe to open a door on that cupboard without its contents spilling out! It is annoying when Amazon packages become split or delayed. Our weekend delivery service is generally more reliable than week days because local people looking for an extra income pick up from their warehouses and deliver using their own transport. I have a pleasant young man that I’ve got to know who covers Saturday and a young Romanian lady on Sunday.

Diane, my hairdresser colours my hair in such a way that I don’t get a growing out line through my hair, more of a soft merging! I think it’s to do with the second base colour that joins everything up. None of it’s cheap though but because my natural grey is a rather boring colour I’m happy to pay. If it was white like you say yours is, I would probably just have a flash of pink in one spot.

Patsy, families living together in adulthood is increasing in Britain because of the cost of living increasing so much. Young people generally can’t afford to buy or rent their own property so don’t move out and the trend does tend to be parents continuing to look after their kids rather than the other way around. My friend Linda continues to worry about her sister in law’s situation as she is partially blind and being what can only be described as bullied by her son and DIL who have power of attorney. It’s all to do with money so turning nasty.

Great to hear from you Diane and know you are safe. I wasn’t sure if you lived nearby to where all that snow had fallen in the past couple of weeks.

The dogs are snoozing in front of the fire and I must decide whether to be active or follow their example!

    Happy Friday
    Jackie 🥰

I can’t see my refuse bins it’s snowing so hard. It’s on record as being the darkest winter ever. That I can believe. Mr sun went off on holiday elsewhere I guess!
Jackie, I still think Lake Ontario is a better idea, lol. And cheaper!

For what it’s worth never ever live with your children unless finances forces one to. Best they visit and you remain in control. I say this because of various friends situations, and believe me I couldn’t personally have better sons and a daughter in law. I don’t want to spoil what I have !!

Just had a mini adventure. The garbage men came and who can blame the poor young man who emptied mine. He dropped it wherever. The conditions outside are just awful. A blizzard with strong wind. I was horrified to see my bin rolling around in the middle of the road, a hazard for motorists. So decked in anorak and boots, out I go but the snow is so high on the snow left at the side of the road by the snow ploughs I’m wondering how the heck I can get over it. A Good Samaritan came along, with wouldn’t you guess a dog on a leash and delivered it over the snow bank from which I tottered down the drive to lock it in the garage.

I think I can claim to be a true Canuck (Canadian) now after 50 years in this beautiful but sometimes cruel weather country. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Happy Friday! :) Thank you all for the wonderful birthday greetings, you girls are the best!! <3
I had a great birthday celebration with my friends at a wonderful restaurant we all love.
We did do some gambling even though we said we weren't going too as we are going to the casino in two weeks. We had fun even though we lost a little money. Next celebration is Sunday, with Cheryl, Marisa and Cheryl's SIL.
I will sit next week Monday and Friday because we made plans to go for an early St. Patrick's Day dinner on Wednesday. My friend's husband has a cousin who owns a pub that will serve corned beef and cabbage, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We are going two days early to avoid the crowds.
I am with Anne as far as living with my kids. I love them dearly but I like my independence and plan on living alone for a long, long time. Once I figure out where I am living it will help but there is no rush.
So even though today is my official birthday I am staying in and doing laundry. I did get a new eye prescription so I may take a ride to Walmart to get it filled. We will see.

Have a great day and thank you again for being such kind and good friends.

Happy birthday dearest Sandy, there you are….forever young, beautiful and still independent. You are an inspiration to “stick in mud” me. Your photos show us a woman who takes good care of herself…and her friends and family. In truth you will always be surrounded by people who care about you. You are fun and positive. Two qualities that are rare these days. Happy birthday Sandy!

Good evening. I signed in to a live YouTube and worked on my Easter cards while watching the ladies creating their cards.

So sorry, I meant to get here earlier. Duh.

Sandy, I hope you did enjoy your day even though you were home. Oh, did you go to pick out new glasses frames?

Wishing everyone happy and safe days.

My favourite teapot to date Lin! 😆

My bedroom curtains were just opened to show me a grey, drizzly picture so I’ve a mug of coffee to take to the shower room with me while would you believe, that fun song I’m gonna wash that man right out of my hair plays on the radio. What man as far as I’m concerned!!

Back later to chastise Anne for risking life and limb for a dustbin. (I’d have done the same of course!)

    Jackie 🥰

Oh my JACKIE, it’s a good job I got that dustbin in, you should SEE the snow outside, the first massive amount I’ve seen since I lived in Quebec. To be honest I was scared a car would have crashed into the lump in the road. NOT brave!! I won’t be going anywhere today unless Darren shows up with his snow blower. Mike didn’t get it so bad up north so I hope he believes me and stays home. That goes for the recovering Mark as well with his own drive to clear. He has a snow blower.

I enjoyed yesterday apart from the mini adventure. I spent the afternoon listening to 1950’s country and western my favourite being Marty Robbins El Paso. I looked up his life as well and he was only 58 when he died from his third heart attack. Born in poverty he joined the US navy in WW 2 where he learnt to play the guitar. Happily married his second passion was racing cars and when a car stalled in front of him on the race track he swerved to avoid hitting it and crashed into the safety wall himself instead. So whilst Jackie was busy washing that man out of her hair I was humming El Paso. My musical tastes run from the OLD country and western which I can sing along with, then a huge gap to classical music and opera which I can’t sing to!
With the snow falling steadily it was nice to leave Ontario and arrive in El Paso, lol.

I believe we change the clocks AGAIN this evening. I’m considering leaving mine as is at standard time and relying on the iPad to tell me spring forward time for doctors appointments etc. Poor old Jilly has a particularly hard time changing to man made rules.

So time to take my mug of coffee to the shower.

    See y’all. Anne.

Happy Saturday! :) Zoom call with family and Mass today. I think I will go to Walmart to get my prescription filled for my glasses. I really would like to try the progressive lens but I can't seem to get used to them so I will get two pair, one for reading and one for distance.
We are expecting snow tonight 1-3 inches but I have heard that before and got nothing.

Anne, I bet your snow is beautiful though, if I can just stay in and watch a good snow storm I love it.
I do hate to drive in snow though. Yes, we push our clocks back as well which I also hate. It kind of made me laugh when you said you sing to country and western music, hard to imagine with your English accent. Not meant to be offensive because I love the English accent.

Jackie, I guess you can use any man who has upset you to wash out of your hair, like that idiot from the allotment. lol I too, love your hair.

Lin, I did enjoy my day alone but was kept busy with birthday wishes on Facebook, phone calls and even a face time call from Lisa's mom which was unexpected since I was in my pajamas. Bryanna stopped by with an éclair and to give me a hug. <3

Patsy, you are so very kind, you know all the right things to say to make a person feel special. Thank you.

Diane, nice to hear from you. I do enjoy being with the grandkids and now that they are a little older much easier to care for. I want them to remember me when I am gone so I try to spend a lot of time with them. They grow up so fast and go off to college or move out of state. I know you feel the same.

    Enjoy your Saturday.

Happy snowy Saturday. The snow did indeed start around noon. Heavy, huge, wet flakes. It is sticking to all the branches and shrubs and will be nasty to remove.

I am once again working on the card fronts. Had another idea this morning. Always dangerous. 😄😁😄

Anne, yipes, too much snow! Try to stay safe and glad you have nothing else to retrieve! Wouldn’t it be a terror if groceries were scheduled to be delivered? They must cancel I would imagine.

Sandy, glad you had a good day but oh my gosh, PJs with a video call. I wouldn’t have answered!

Jackie, inclement weather for you as well. Ack! I was watching the spaniels today and they had received some snow. It was the type dogs love to frolic in. And of course, they were doing just that.

Hello Patsy, Diane, Barbie, and Jeri. Be safe everyone.

Mark and Mary Jo turned up. MJ back to normal but Mark looked grey skinned. I took Jilly out and the three of us shovelled the drive with Jilly supervising. They’ve just left because Marks still sniffling with sinus blockage. He kept well away from me but I think he’s over the actual Corvid. We have more snow forecast for Sunday and Monday. Well that livened up our day for sure. Mary Jo remarked on how I don’t seem to get lonely and I don’t, there’s always something to do.

Happy Sunday! :) We had a dusting of snow during the night and some flakes are coming down now.
I set my clocks ahead last night so still got my required hours of sleep. :p Going to dinner at 4:00 so get to have a leisurely day. Tomorrow I sit, so have to be up by 6:30. Another busy week with sitting tomorrow, doctor on Tuesday, St. Paddy dinner on Wednesday, meeting on Thursday and sitting on Friday. The following week we go to casino for two nights and the following week I bought an Amtrak train ticket to go visit John and Laurie. It is about a 3 1/2 hour train trip but very relaxing compared to driving by myself. They will come visit me in late April. In June I will be driving with Lisa and kids to Florida. She will go with me to Kristy's for a night or two and then she will go to her parents for two weeks. Her parents will leave when she does so they will follow each other back to Illinois so she won't need me. I will fly home from Florida after my vacation. In July I will go visit my son in Ohio to see his new house and his new dog. I will then have visited all my children this year. I love to travel but prefer an all inclusive on some ocean or even a cruise. In between all this traveling I will spend time at my pool if I don't scare everyone away from seeing me in a swimsuit. lol

There you have it my friends, this is the way I handle grief, by being with those I love and keeping busy.
Who knows how long I will be able to keep up this pace but God Willing a long, long time.

Good evening. Well, my driveway is clear again. We had between 6 and 8 inches of snow yesterday. Yipes! Heavy, wet, snow but my snow removal guy got a lot of it moved, just not all that was pushed into my drive by the city. A break, one day of warm temperatures (Wednesday) and then more storms.

Sandy, the celebrations continue and wow, a lot of visiting this year! Happy looking after the kids tomorrow.

Barbie, cute photo and wording. And absolutely true! Although eating earlier seems okay. Having to eat later, not so much.

Jackie, hope your day was a good one.

Anne, what are you watching now? Academy awards?

Patsy, did I miss you again?

Well, I got a lot accomplished on the Easter cards today and did attend online church. Crushed boxes, got my car started in maintenance mode for a while. Talked to a friend on the phone for an hour. Day is done!

    Be safe everyone.

Hello again! Wet! Wet! Wet day and evening!

Had fun watching the academy awards. The animation winner was made in Portland by some acquaintances of Damon’s. He thought they they were a great group. A studio called shadow box or something like that. One of the artists, a sculptor, does amazing things then the animators jump In and use computers to do their magic. Damon bought me a doll, a little witch, that was crafted by this sculptor. I think I showed the sneakers this doll in the past. Wow! The fashions on the red carpet was really something. Oddly….John wasn’t interested! Hummmmmmm?

John is going to anther cardiologist next week. Hoping for some interesting strategies to make things better. Then later he goes to have his eyes evaluated. He sees double a lot of the time. Not sure what they will do about cataract operation and the heart condition. Fingers crossed on that.

After reading Sandy’s plans I almost hyperventilated. That would be a nightmare for me. Love seeing my kids however. Travel is not my favorite unless it is to some really glamorous place. I really am a stick in the mud!

All in all, we are getting along okay. Had a great visit with Damon. Andrea will be coming tomorrow. Grandson wants to come and whiz around with the vacuum. I will fix lunch. Katie will bark.

Good morning friends. Yesterday was interesting! A walk on the moors that began well but halfway round a ghastly wet and windy system threw itself at us and nowhere to hide! Crazy weather so far this year and my untidy garden upsets me every time I walk through to check on the hens. TV gardening programmes have been advising pruning of most of my shrubs by end February so I’m way behind and seedlings are either not coming up at all or showing themselves but then saying no thanks, too cold, even in my garden room!
In the afternoon I enjoyed a zoom meeting with friends in Canada, my brother in Spain and friend Pat in Gloucestershire. We usually spend the first 10 minutes with either no picture or sound and phoning each other to compare our technical issues but this time it went smoothly. Of course the pets had to get involved!
    w2qoiq0xxzec.jpeg

I’m totally out of touch when it comes to today’s movies and who is in them, in fact yesterday’s BBC App quiz was about current stars and only managed 1 out of 10. The one I got right was a guess and I will probably struggle to know about those that won yesterday but will read reviews later.

Strong gales this morning so definitely not a day for the moors but I need to stock up on milk and bio yogurt so will drive us to a field a couple of miles away then shop on the way home. Not so long ago I walked there and back but with George now being 10 and heading for his 11th birthday in August, I think it’s too far for his little legs and Betty would be happy not to go anywhere!
I’m going to get going before rain arrives but since it’s a housework day, I’m bound to want an excuse to pop back to the Sneakers!

    Happy Monday

Good morning. I guess youcan guess we had snow again starting yesterday afternoon and overnight although peering through the window it doesn’t seem to have done much more than coat the drive. It’s still snowing.

Like PATSY above,I almost hyperventilated as well on reading SANDYS schedule! I take after my dad and I’m a real lover of the comfort and familiarity of home. Enjoyed travel in the past but was always happy to return, open my front door and plop my back pack in the hall.

As for the Oscar’s I have to confess I havn’t watched even one show EVER. Oh my, what an old hermit I am! And in a way Jilly the bean takes after me and Betty, JACKIES sweet little girl. When Mark and Mary Jo came to shovel on Saturday she watched happily for a while, then refused a short walk and headed for the back door and the warmth of home instead. I think when summer comes she will enjoy the new deck and a chair and happily bark in safety at the large dogs trudging past. Me as well with my coffee! That’s if we ever see summer again. The weather men say it’s been the darkest winter EVER on record here.

Someone is doing something inside Maria’s old home. The letter the agent sent to the Ms read how happy Maria was at the cash she got for the house. I bet she was with a profit of one million dollars! So far the Ms don’t seem interested in chucking me out. I have a little invested in it, but it is only a little. Lol.

Well, porridge cooled, time to move the bones.
    Anne.

Happy Monday! 😀 I am at my job and just put the last child on the bus. You will never guess what I am getting tonight. A matching tattoo with Marisa for Babe. Tiny little wings with his name. Just haven’t decided where yet. 😜 Still to be determined if I go through with it! Had a wonderful dinner with Cheryl,Marisa and Cheryl’s SIL. Very expensive restaurant but I was grateful. Marisa also brought me flowers and a grandma birthday card. Cheryl and her SIL brought each brought me a bottle of wine.

I changed my mind, I just feel too old for a tattoo. I was basically doing it for Marisa but just not able to do it! I have other mementos from Babe that will honor his memory.
