What was your fasting BG today?

Yes, in Canada, and other countries we measure it differently. You use mg/dl We use mmol/l. If you take my morning results today, 7.2, it's equivalent to 130 in the US. You take our reading and multiply by 18. If I up understand the literature, it's only the US that uses mg/dl0

Before a meal (preprandial plasma glucose): 80–130 mg/dl
1-2 hours after beginning of the meal (Postprandial plasma glucose)*: Less than 180 mg/dl
These are the numbers on the American Diabetes Assoc. website. To me, if you're under 130, you're still within the normal range, so why do some of you freak if it's not below 100?
For myself, the few times I've been at 5(90), I felt shakey and was showing signs of low blood sugar.
Are you all putting too much pressure on yourselves to be below 100? Or is this doctor recommended?

It's actually US and the rest of the world. Same with metric vs imperial.0 -

133.2 7.4 I'm starting to think that the 7's(126) are my 'normal'. I'm going to the doctor today, so I'll see what she thinks. My diabetes educator said the numbers they quote are a general guideline and that not everyone will fit that range. I do notice, when I'm below 6 or 5(108-90) I start to feel shakey and ill.0

To make the conversion...
Mine was 4.9 fasting this morning so multiply it by 18 to get the US number..so mine was 88.2. That's pretty normal for me..I usually hover just under 5 for the last 4 months..before that I was in mid 5's. I think it's great because I have lost 66.2 lbs and that makes a difference to my insulin resistance
If you have fasting of 117 then divide by 18 and it's 6.5.
Canada, UK, Australia and most everywhere uses our metric system. The USA is imperial. Hope that helps.
