I had a pair of jeans in the top of my closet that I couldn't quite get buttoned...my husband was cleaning up and hung them in my closet...I wore them yesterday...didn't even notice at first what jeans they were, they weren't even too snug.12

Not sure that this is a 'victory' as such, but... I sometimes work with very teeny electronics components, which require me to wear a loupe to see what I'm doing. I never had a problem keeping it in place before, I could put the loupe on it would simply stay put.
Nowadays it's constantly falling out. I just don't have enough excess flesh on my face to hold it in place.
Kind of funny, but also tremendously irritating when it keeps falling off and rolling away on the floor while I'm in the middle of something.4 -
I can officially fit into every pair of jeans I own!! This has NEVER happened!!12

I gorged myself absolutely stupid on proteins yesterday, with a smattering of carbs and a fairly liberal addition of fats.
I dropped a pound today.
Go figure.
I've been doing this since March, and there are times I STILL find it hard to get my head round the fact that (within the right proportions) you can really push the boat out, go overboard and everything will still be fine!
(mixed metaphors that actually worked together!)9 -
Pulled a 245 lb. deadlift for 5 reps this morning. Kept me grinning all day!13
-
@AlexandraCarlyle, if you push the boat out, and go overboard, you get wet.... and everybody (dogs n cats included) looks skinnier wet, lol. You're right, the metaphors really do work together

Back in May I went on a hike with my sister, we covered about 5 or 6 km, some rough territory but not too much climbing. I had trouble keeping up with her, had to ask her to slow down a bit.
Yesterday the two of us got together for another hike. We covered 11km, including climbing up to the top of the Niagara Escarpment (according to my fitness watch, it was like going up 40 flights of stairs!). This time, my sister had trouble keeping up with me, and I had to slow down to wait for her at times.
I took an unflattering selfie at the top - I was kinda red-faced from the climb.
Apparently from the valley below to the peak is 120 or 130 meters elevation.18 -

I have a boatload of beautiful undergarments available to wear that all fit properly (from 7 years ago). Just 2.5mos ago I had 2 ugly bras. They served their purpose, yes, but they just reminded me of how difficult it was to get dressed.
I bought 3 new shirts Saturday, brought them home and they're all too big, like ridiculous. Victory/fail. Still adjusting to my smaller self.9 -
I'm new to the LCD group and I had to lookup 'NSV' - what a great approach! <I'm feeling enlightened>4

Just got a new badge at work. This pic on the left is my badge from 5 years ago. On the right is the new one. I never realized how much fat was in my face and neck back then.
In addition, the first 7 years of my daughter's life, it seemed like I appeared to age about 4-5 years each year. Looking at these, I think the last five have been pretty kind to me as have lost the weight and kept it off.

I just have to say, I remember when you joined the group, and you don't even look like the same person. You look so much healthier and happier. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!6 -
As I was getting dressed to go on a date with my wife last week, she told me she noticed I was tightening my belt to a smaller size, using a different hole in my belt.
This unsolicited observation caught me by surprise...(ladies, you are very detail-oriented!)
I'd say that is an example of an NSV for me :-)13 -

I have been drilling new holes in the belt and have been folding the belt end back and tucking it in. I have lost 10 inches on my waist measurement, but I am cheap and did not want to buy a new belt until I was in maintenance. My wife told me last week it was embarrassing to her for me to dress that way. It was just really important to her that I get a proper belt that comes in the size I am wearing now. I dutifully got one.
It is nice to see the old one next to the new one and think of inches lost...17 -

This, gentlemen, is how you stay married for decades. Listen to your wife.7 -
I've lost my insulation. I used to weather the cold pretty well when I was heavier (much more padding I suppose). Today their was a slight breeze and I noticed that I was just cold like on a really cold winter day but this is just Fall. It's not a bad thing because now I can fit into coats and jackets I haven't worn in quite a while plus add layers since my office tends to get a bit toasty in the winter time. Luckily my coats and jackets haven't gone out of style.
This will be an interesting winter for sure.6 -
Don't snore anymore
Wake up feeling good instead of more tired than when I went to bed
Want to exercise
Went from 50R to 44R suits
Lost 8-inches in my waist (44 to 36)
I can tie my shoes without holding my breath
Ran a 5k at 8:37-min/mile pace recently
Feel way more confident about appearance
Blood pressure down from 14x/90x to 11x/7x
Fasting blood sugar down from 110-120 to in the 90s
Those are some of the things I could think of (lost 58-lbs SW 256, CW 198, 6'1").

Is your heart rate down due to the diet only or do you exercise a lot too? (sorry, just nosy as am conscious my rate is quite high)
I do IF. My heart-rate fasted is about 55 bpm and if I relax, it will go as low as 38 bpm. Today it was 45 bpm while relaxing. When I eat, it immediately goes up about 15-20 bpm to help with digestion. I run 4xweek and ran a lot when younger (my resting hear-rate in college was about 41-43 bpm). I also think I have bradycardia which is a slow heart rate. I check myself with an oximeter to make sure I'm getting enough oxygen because my heart rate is so slow (my dad had a minor stroke due to too low of a heart rate). My oxygen levels are good but I'm still going to monitor it. I'm almost 56-yrs old.3 -

I hear you on this one! But I am glad the insulation is gone.
I keep a hoodie nearby all the time, if the temp drops, I am rugged up! I am also fitting in two lovely leather blazers from long ago that are classic cuts, so I have brown and black to wear this fall. I keep asking DH to up the room temp in the evenings now. He told me to get myself a warm toasty robe instead, it will be cheaper5 -
I did not raid the fridge after blowing several fuses over Amazon failure to deliver my OH's late birthday present that he's been looking forward to for 6 weeks now. Wolfenstein 2. He is a gamer so this was a big deal as it was only released today. We could have bought it in the shops today, but I wanted the relaxing experience of him getting it delivered on the doorstep. 4 calls later, tempers flaring (mine) escalated to management, who was just as useless as the rest. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow, but my fridge is still intact!4

My winter jacket that was WAYYY too tight to do up last season now fits, with room to spare! Wahoo!6

This morning I did my second ever 5k run. The first one was last month and I only ran about a third of it, walked the rest.
Today I ran the first three km and the last km nonstop. I took walking breaks in the fourth km. I set a new personal best for the 5k (39:07) and also ran my single fastest km yet (7:13).
Needless to say I'm pretty chuffed. Not bad considering I just turned 48, I'm still like 40+ pounds away from my goal and still technically obese, and 15 months ago I could barely shuffle my way around the block.
Soggy happy post-run selfie:
Finally, it wasn't a race, but I believe I finished in the top 30% which is where I like to be. A little bit "competing against myself not the others" and a little bit "yay I'm not at the back of the pack."
p.s. still feeling some of those post-run endorphins. Weee hehehe.22 -

Right on! You know your fitness is getting good when you get those endorphins. I used to get the giggles when I jogged.2 -
Steph you inspire me!! This is so awesome!3

Fantastic! Congrats. Keep that up. You will find you will keep improving as you train and as you lose more weight. You should be proud! We aren't really racing others but just improving ourselves.3 -
Another victory for Miss @Steph_Maks!2

3 months in this keto LS and I have a flat stomach again!! I was starting to get the middle age preggo belly and thought I'd never have a flat stomach again...but I do!! 15 lbs down 10-12 more to go. Also I'm down from my 'really fat jeans' to just my 'sortof fat jeans'...hoping to get in the 'normal' jeans soon. lol.12

yeah same here. I have been keeping a couple of extra layers in the Jeep just in case the temperature drops. It's just amazing what you get used to when you are overweight for an extended period of time and how much things can change with your body in a relatively short amount of time.
I went from hole 4 to hole 5 in my belt this week and my Levis that were quite snug are now loose. All this happened with very little actual weight loss. The only thing I really changed was shorter more intense workouts, I guess that is working.

I got myself a new pair of boots this weekend (which yay NSV on its own hehe, new pair of Dr. Martens) but while picking them out, I discovered something I really wasn't expecting: my feet have shrunk!
I'd heard rumours that feet can shrink but I didn't believe it. I still don't understand it. I don't just mean width or girth (which does make sense) but length too.
Mine have been a womens' size 10 for all my adult life, but I tried on a number of different brands and styles at the store and all the W10's were too big. The size 9's fit but even with those there's a bit of extra space beyond my toes.6 -
Steph thats awesome! Crazy hey??
It happened to me when I went from 355 lbs (wearing an 11W shoe) to 185 lbs (size 9) back in 2006-07!
I'm wearing a 9.5 now. So neat how our bodies change like that. Nice job! You're completely transforming!1
