I was out walking today and hit 9319 steps. The temperature was 39 degrees and along the walk I saw it had dropped to 37 degrees vs 51 degrees yesterday and was not that great for walking due wind gusts
I stopped at the Local grocery store and Picked up Gala Apples for $0.79 cents a pound and Bartlett Pears for $1.29. I did not pick up Bananas as my brother will be picking them up at the ShopRite on a coupon for 2 free pounds with a $10 purchase and it is hard to beat that price

44 degrees right now, and sunny! May have to make an effort to be outdoors for at least half an hour today....
I"ve been watching a giraffe named April in a Zoo in NY someplace they're doing a 'live birth' streaming 24 hour. So far not much going on. Some of the chat comments are either maddening, or funny as all get out. I turn chat off when I 'get over the comments'.
I haven't looked this morning yet, could be a new reticulated giraffe in the world today, could be more waiting.... Just like 'regular' babies..the arrive on their own schedule!

Nekkid giraffes on Youtube are not one of my major worries...I've seen doggie porn, up close and personal and was the midwife for the birth of the resultant litter too!

I was out walking today and hit 6,707 steps so far. The temperature was 31 degrees vs 39 degrees yesterday and was tolerable for walking. I will be going back out later which is why the step count looks low.

“Often people view insects as unthinking machines,” says Clint Perry, a biologist who studies the evolution of cognition in insects at Queen Mary University of London. Science has recently challenged that human-centric assumption, by revealing that the busy buzzers can use tools, count to four, learn “foreign languages" and even experience some semblance of sugar-derived happiness—traits usually associated with larger-brained animals.
Now, Perry and his colleagues have released the results of a creative new experiment in which they essentially taught bumblebees how to play "bee soccer." The insects’ ability to grasp this novel task is a big score for insect intelligence, demonstrating that they’re even more complex thinkers than we thought. Moreover, they did it all not just in spite of their tiny brains—but because of them.
For the study, published in the February 23 issue of Science, researchers gave a group of bees a novel goal (literally): to move a ball about half their size into a designated target area. The idea was to present them with a task that they would never have encountered in nature. Not only did the bees succeed at this challenge—earning them a sugary treat—but they astonished researchers by figuring out how to meet their new goal in several different ways.
Some bees succeeded at getting their ball into the goal with no demonstration at all, or by first watching the ball move on its own. But the ones that watched other bees successfully complete the game learned to play more quickly and easily. Most impressively, the insects didn't simply copy each other—they watched their companions do it, then figured out on their own how to accomplish the task even more efficiently using their own techniques.
The results show that bees can master complex, social behaviors without any prior experience—which could be a boon in a world where they face vast ecological changes and pressures.

Howdy y'all. It's marvelous Monday! 49 out there now. High of 60 predicted with 70% chance of rain. My joints agree with that forecast.

Didn't sleep through though, was up several times for bathroom. That's what I get for drinking so much fluid shortly before bed...
I don't think I'll do anything much today except finish the laundry I started yesterday. And nap.

I hadn't checked our weather either current or forecast...so Ed did it for me!! LOL! Thanks, as I've been quite busy watching silly people and food, and then laughing over cartoons! Great way to start the week!
Trying something I saw on the web last night..not even sure which vegan web site I was looking at..but somebody had peeled and sliced sweet potato, cut them into rounds, put on a baking sheet and sprinkled them with cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, and white pepper....so guess what's in my toaster oven right now? They smell delicious, so I'm thinking I should check on them, right???
Will let you know how this works. There weren't any instructions, like spice portions, and no oven temp given either...so I'm 'winging it'! Using best guess technology! LOL!
Yes, checked on mama giraffe about an hour ago, she's still preggers...no baby in site. And yes some total A-holes did get the original web site shut down...there always has to be a stick in the mud with virgin eyes I guess. Hint...if you don't like it then for Gods sakes watch something else!!!! There are now several web sites showing the live feed. Interesting. Shut down one, 2-3 pop up! Like a 'chinese fire drill' (no slur intended)

Valerie, you'd be interested to know that after my lenten rose opened fully up, it became its usual color of pinkish green or greenish pink, whichever way you want to call it.

Ed, thats interesting. Mine open white, and the 'red' (mauve) ones open that color. I have a Knockout Yellow Rose...that opens yellow, fully open is pretty much white.
I'll try to remember to take a pix or two of my Lenten Roses...they, like yours have just out done themselves this year...
Having another serving of Ed's Shipwreck Casserole for dinner tonite. Made it yesterday, and ate it for late lunch, and then I nibbled on it the rest of the afternoon and evening! Sooo good! (and did I mention easy)?

Just Curious, was it nice and ripe inside? I see them and they are not all that cheap either. I do get tempted however.
