Went back to Costco after gym today...I meant to buy rice yesterday...forgot. So, got the rice, came home took the trash can to the curb...not the recycles. I should have a recycle cart coming..signed up for one. (free). I may take the recycles out if I no longer hear thunder and the rain seems to be over. Otherwise I will have to get up early tomorrow to take out the recycles...bin is full!
Back to Costco....You know those tasty bites they tempt you with? Well, one of them was Heart of Palm! They tasted slightly brined, and the texture was a bit harder than lobster...but I can see them subbing for lobster.. Also I'll look to see if I can find some frozen and not brined.
Roger, fake crab is quite nice. Though you really have to watch what you buy...I got some once that was Pollack, but contained crab juices...and the crab juices were not mentioned on the ingredient label. This was probably 30 years ago, and labeling has improved a good bit since then!!!
I you have the chance Roger, you really should have a lobster po-boy!! Makes me hungry thinking about it...and I just finished eating...
What else?? I only recall the 'usual' laundry and loading the sink dishes into the dishwasher....
Tomorrow I see the Cardio doc who has watched my echocardiogram, and I'll hear what he has to say....
Wish me luck.
Later...
We have a Tub that we put the rolled up 1/2 liter water bottles into and then I Usually have a cardboard box that I put the paper goods into and sit it on top of the plastics bin. We also have a smaller rectangular bin that is marked for paper goods and a Round bin for the other types that were distributed when they introduced mandatory recycling. I actually use the round one as a garbage bin.
I think it is too late for me to start trying to like seafood, Things like Sea bugs AKA Crabs and Lobsters. Clams, etc.
Good Luck at the Docs.

Howdy all y'all. It's fantastic Friday! 71 with an expected high of 86 and 30% chance of precipitation.
Need to get out today or tomorrow (at the latest) to get cat food and a few other things. I can probably combine this into a single trip, as the pet store and Publix are all in the same complex. Hopefully my prescriptions at Publix will be ready too! Wouldn't that be handy?
Need to clean cat bowls from yesterday and feed the cats. Woke up with a headache but suspect that it is weather related as yesterday evening's weather was not nice.

Hi
I'm back home from walking no cents. The Temperature out the door was 75 degrees and uncomfortable while walking due to humidity
I could see where there had been light rain overnight. The heavy rain is due to arrive later on.

Today's forecast is for 80% chance an then a few days of 50% chance of rainOTOH it will keep us from needing to water the garden.
That would be a great thing if You could do it all in one trip.
I was sort of wondering if last nights headache could be from the weather front moving through the area too.parityanimal wrote: »Zero waste chocolate cake. Not sure what zero waste means in this sense...I presume at a minimum, nothing that can't compost, but they may mean nothing at all!

Principal lets students pass even if they never went to class
This high school is a hooky player’s dream.
At DeWitt Clinton HS in the Bronx, kids who have cut class all semester can still snag a 65 passing grade — and course credit — if they complete a quickie “mastery packet.”
Insisting that students can pass “regardless of absence,” Principal Pierre Orbe has ordered English, science, social studies and math teachers to give “make up” work to hundreds of kids who didn’t show up or failed the courses, whistleblowers said.
I hate to look at it this way but I hope all that was elsewhere in Your area.
I am afraid we may have that sort of weather today.

Howdy y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! 72 with an expected high of 87 and 30% chance of precipitation. Notice it's never anything like 21% or 36% or even 25%? Always 10, 20, 30, etc. with nothing in between the 10s. One wonders, but not all that hard, why this is the case.
Might do some laundry today but think I'm taking the weekend mostly off.

Hi
I'm back home from walking 1 cent. The Temperature out the door was 72 degrees and uncomfortable while walking due to the dew point being in the oppressive range again
The rains appear to be gone for the time being and it did dry out somewhat overnight. Parts of NJ had over 4 inches of rain and flooding. This area I am in is located in a large area that was under a flash flood alert. We never see flooding on this street, other parts of town can flood where the roads cross over brooks.

When I make it in a skillet, I generally put J's eggs in earlier than mine as I like them runny, but he prefers them well done too. You could probably make the sheet pan shakshuka by simply cooking the base and eggs separately, perhaps frying the eggs hard and then laying them on top of the toast and sauce base.

Think I will go to the gym...then I can take Wednesday off while I run up and down the streets grocery shopping and seeing my Chiro..maybe also see Ted while I'm in town.
But, for today...gym, and some little odds and ends that I've ignored all week
I was really excited about the spicy pork and veg. video...and they used meat. as well as tofu? Why? Why? Why? LOL
Then there was the Buddha Bowl...I love making Buddha bowls...just would have used cubed tofu of some sort...like maybe WF Chicken Fried, with my rice and veggies. See, I can ruin ANY diet without even trying. The egg whatever cooked on the grill looked delicious...I hope at least one of my grocery stores soon carries the new egg stuff that is not egg. From what I read it can be scrambled, made into crepes, etc. So, that should work. I sure hope this stuff holds up to all the hype...cuz I'd really love to have some scrambled egg in my fried rice again!
Roger, hope your weather improves. You walks don't sound so very fun or comfortable these days.
Ed,did it rain last night? I was awake or at least til midnite 'aware' and my deaf ears didn't hear any rain...but that doesn't mean squat...as without my hearing aids ......
I really gotta get going... so far I've managed a whopping 500-ish steps! That will not win any awards!! (unless maybe I become a sloth)
Later...
Oh, I meant to ask Roger...you got sprouts at Costco??? What kind? and did you really mean a pound???? What does one do with a pound of sprouts? she asked wondering.... I really can't even imagine a pound of sprouts! IF I buy sprouts at WF, I get little square box of broccoli sprouts or radish, etc, and I can't even eat those up in a week. Inquiring minds and all that ....
If it rained last night, I missed it too.
I thought Roger was talking about Brussels Sprouts.1 -
So much for taking the whole weekend off. At least I got Saturday off!
So far today, toilets scrubbed. Some of the floors swept. Still more floors to do.
Big stacks of empty cardboard boxes, in the hall, from where J has been unpacking stuff from moves long ago, have been moved to the garage for disassembling and putting out to recycle but that won't happen today as it's too darn hot to do that out in the garage, even with the door open and a big fan running.
I'll gradually get them out to recycle. I even found an old cardboard wine crate I hadn't realized I still had in the garage and it needs to go to recycle too. I was sure I had taken care of all the old cardboard wine crated but this one had been hidden by plants that have been moved to the yard for the summer.
I told J to be ruthless with the discards but honestly haven't seen that much in discards so not sure what he took out of all these boxes or where it all went! I am almost afraid to look in the small, hall bedroom he's trying to convert to office space.
Oh, and the dishwasher is running and being cleaned with a dishwasher cleaning tablet in addition to the regular dishwasher tablet for the dishes.
A few more floors left to sweep, and at some point I need to get the cat boxes scooped and the garbage and regular recycles out to the curb. Not sure if a nap fits into this agenda or not today, though I'll probably make myself lie down for a bit at some point.
OK. Break time is over. Gonna quaff some water and get back to it.0 -
GardenKatGardens wrote: »Ed,what do you think about the washing the dishwasher tablets? I've never used them, and dishwasher looks clean, and no smell...maybe because first rinse everything that goes into the dishwasher? Just curious.
Well, I buy them because the dishwasher manual suggested them. I put one in about once a month. I also clean the clothes washer with bleach once in a while though that isn't once a month. I give my dishes a sorta half rinse but mostly just try to get rid of solids. Liquids I don't worry about so much.
The dishwasher looks clean and all when done. But as you said, it tends to anyway.
