I walked 5600 Steps AKA 2.5 miles according to the FitBit + 0 Cents during today's walk. The temperature this morning was 65 on the news channel and64 degrees on the front porch with a decent slightly higher humidity level once more. The Humidity and temperature are forecast to rise tomorrow

Democratic Voter Fraud: Liberal Student Sentenced For Registering Dead People To Vote

A James Madison University student and Virginia native is facing at least 100 days in prison after a Virginia district court found him guilty of submitting 18 fabricated voter registration forms.
Andrew Spieles is an employee of Harrisonburg Votes, an organization affiliated with the Democratic Party. Starting in 2016, his job was to register as many voters in Virginia as possible, and track their information, CNSNews reports:
“...After filling out a registration form for a voter, Spieles entered the information into a computer system used by the Virginia Democratic Party to track information such as name, age, address and political affiliation...Every Thursday an employee/volunteer hand-delivered the paper copies of the registration forms to the Registrar’s Office in Harrisonburg.”
The Registrar’s office caught on to Spieles’s scheme when they noticed that many of the names on voter registration forms belonged to deceased community members. The office also noticed inaccurate names, social security numbers and birth dates on registration forms. It became abundantly clear that these forms were not new voter registration.
. He confessed to stealing information from the Virginia Democratic Party’s “walk sheets,” taking names, addresses and ages at random from the data. He also disclosed that he forged fake social security numbers.

She did see me in the window and sent a quizzical meow at me though. J and I might go back when a volunteer is there and see her again.
And...at Kroger I also happened to notice that they had meatloaf on the hot food line, which seems quite rare at that Kroger. Always chicken, chicken and another kind of chicken. So I got a meatloaf lunch. When I got home, I split the meatloaf, mac and cheese, and black eyed peas into TWO meals and put one in the refrigerator for dinner or maybe breakfast. $5.99 plus tax for two meals is not a bad deal at all. I made J a small pot of vegetarian chili for his lunch.
One large load of laundry, and the dishwasher, are going now.

Got all the laundry done AND folded and hung yesterday, and a bit of housework done too, along with the grocery shopping, so it was a pretty good day.
I think I'll take the day off today.

I like Spam too. And, of course, some of the competitors. I long ago lost any taste for that pre-sliced ham lunch meat that comes in packages like bologna, liver cheese, etc.
And using the pre-sliced ham to make a baked banana dish, as in the video above, not to mention using Hollandaise sauce MIX instead of just making your own...well that dish DOES sound like it is a contender for "most disgusting" among the retro food.
Maybe watching these videos has helped me lose weight!0 -
Roger, I'm not the least bit surprised that you like the ShopRite's hot food bar meatloaf. It's convenient and, I'm sure, reasonably tasty and a lot easier than making your own, though maybe not quite as good.
And if your ShopRite serves the amount that my Kroger serves, I'm sure you can get two meals out of one purchase too.
Whenever the Kroger has some NON-CHICKEN meal available, I always evaluate whether I want to try it, as I can usually make two meals from one "lunch" there, but sometimes I have doubts as to whether they can meet my standards. The meatloaf is usually good.
The Kroger chicken on the hot food bar is good, but one gets tired of it very quickly. There's always bone-in fried chicken, and almost always fried chicken tenders. Then usually a baked, bone-in chicken or boneless chicken breasts, sometimes cut up barbecued chicken or just barbecued wings.
They used to have a non-chicken dish more often but I guess that is more expensive to prepare (and throw away any leftovers) than chicken so I can understand why, not to mention that I'm sure fried chicken is always a popular item.
Sides vary. Usually three or four from a somewhat short list are prepared each day:
Mac and cheese
Mashed potatoes
Italian flat green beans
Corn
Black eyed peas (one of my favorites)
Greens
Fried rice
Stewed tomatoes and okra (whoever invented this vile dish should rot in ...well...)
Fried potato wedges (rarely, but when they are fresh, they are to die for!)
And maybe, in the summer especially, some other seasonal vegetable dish.
Not a whole lot of variety on the side dishes.
For the occasional non-chicken meat they have had some interesting things, but not a lot of repeats other than the occasional meatloaf and barbecued ribs.
Other things:
Stir fry beef
Fried fish (especially during Lent)
Steaks (once anyway, I figure the meat department was sent too many and they needed to get rid of it - on the steak day, they had steak prepared three ways and the only chicken was the bone-in fried chicken)
Pot roast (ditto the steaks)
and sometimes, when having a "Taste of <insert country here>" at the store, they may make some traditional dishes from a foreign country to help entice people to buy the items they've brought in to the store for the promotion.

Good Thursday Morning!
I'm heading out the door to get the grass cut before the rains...trimming only if the rain holds off, and I hold up!
I scanned thru the foods, and saw the spaghetti 'O's jello...No, just no.....
Ate spam a couple of times....can't say I liked it. That all said...I've eaten a banana and I think I'll wait til later for any kind of breakfast...though I'm afraid the spaghetti jello is a classic case of 'once seen, can't be unseen' I'm so glad that the woman that made that wasn't MY mother!!!

Instant food is what comes to mind
They tend to sell it either in a fairly large loaf or as slices in a brown gravy. I would think that since they sell the loaf when they have it as a family size item and usually alongside a same sized Salisbury Steak that several meals could be gotten from it

They have the Fried Chicken every day and then in the other hot food area they often have different flavors of breaded Chicken in a sauce, Sometimes Pot Roast in Gravy or Pork in Gravy, Ribs etc.
They also have a cold lower per pound salad bar and in the deli Section Potato and Macaroni Salad in regular and deluxe versions.
It the front of the store is a refrigerated case with marked down due to expire that day prepared foods.

Well, we now have, ON HOLD, at the Gwinnett shelter, a five month old kitten (and kitten isn't replacing a dirty word this time) with final decision whether to adopt planned for July 5. They just got her in and have to hold her for a few days, but supposedly us having her ON HOLD means we get her if we don't change our minds.
Assuming we decide for sure to keep her, we will then pay our $10, and they will spay and chip her and we'll pick her up either the day of, or the day after the spaying.
We're not telling anyone the name someone had given her because we think it's ...well, stupid is a harsh word, but we don't think it's appropriate or as cute as the one who gave her that name probably thinks it is. There ain't no way she's keeping it if we adopt her. We'll come up with a new one.
She's a black and white beauty. After picking her up we will, of course, immediately have to take her to our veterinarian for a full checkup.

On Tuesday, James O’ Keefe’s Project Veritas released a video showing CNN producer John Bonifield admitting that the whole Russian collusion story is “mostly bulls**t,” and that the network pushes it for ratings. Since the inauguration, Russia has been mentioned in CNN’s coverage of the Trump White House 15,694 times. There is zero evidence that there was any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence operatives during the 2016 election. None. Every update has yielded nothing further other than we have no evidence of collusion or wrongdoing. Since Hillary Clinton’s upset loss to Donald Trump, the Democratic Party has used Russia as a crutch to avoid an extensive introspective autopsy on why they lost. The mindset seems to be: it’s not possible that our ideas suck, it’s just that the rest of the country is wrong—also, Russia. Democrats have wasted so much time on this story that they haven’t crafted an economic message, which they lacked in 2016, and that’s impacted their party in the special elections held this year. Not a single Democrat has won. With the recent defeat of Jon Ossoff in GA-06, they’re 0-4. It’s come to the point where some Democrats are realizing that they’re becoming distracted with the Russia probe. Voters simply don’t care—and that’s becoming explicitly clear to the slate of Democrats running in the midterms next year. A new Harvard-Harris poll notes that 64 percent feel that the Russia investigation is hurting the country, with 56 percent saying it’s time for Congress to move on to more important issues.

Howdy y'all. It's fabulous Friday!
70 degrees out there now with an expected high of 77 and 80% chance of rain.
I got my lab results back yesterday and my A1c was down to only 5.9!
This is an excellent result and is one indicator that my diabetes is well controlled.
Nothing much on the agenda today.
Yesterday, of course, didn't get quite as much of a "day off" as I'd hoped as we spent a good chunk of the afternoon/evening driving to and spending time with cats.
We are rather disillusioned with Furkids as the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing. And the right hand doesn't seem to necessarily know what it is doing!
You would think that, for example, when we looked at Beth, the person at the Petco would have known that someone was already in the process of adopting her and then J could have spent more time with a different cat, or cats, at the Petco. To be fair, I suppose it's conceivable that the person had put in the paperwork the day before and it possibly hadn't been processed enough to let her know.
But, from what I've read in reviews online, the workers and the person in charge tend to be autocratic and peremptory, and to ban people for little to no reason, on a whim, so the decisions on who gets to adopt and who doesn't seem to be based more on the adoption volunteer's mood than on the qualifications of the person wanting to do the adopting.
Mind you, we had no issues with THAT part and the lady who was going to coordinate our adoption of Beth seemed sincerely apologetic that someone else was already in process. As long as she got a good home, J and I are OK with that. And I think we can assume that they did do their best to ensure that she got a good home.
But then...
Our adoption coordinator, despite being told that we were not looking for a cat of a particular color or pattern, that the cat's appearance was not relevant at all, came up with, coincidentally(?), another calico/tortoise shell female that she thought we might be interested in, at a PetSmart store, but couldn't make an appointment for us to see/interact with her until Sunday afternoon, telling us this on Tuesday. So...no one could come one evening Wednesday through Saturday? NO ONE?
Coincidentally(?) Sunday happens to be July 2, which is AFTER the month of June's $10 special adoption "sale" and, while she didn't mention the fee going up, since June would be over, I have a suspicion that it would.
Now money is not the issue. We have, in the past, paid full adoption fees at a shelter and paid even more for "free" cats who, as anyone knows, are actually about as expensive, if not more so, as you might have to pay full price for shots, neutering/spaying, etc. for a "free" cat. Money is not the issue. It's the delays and lack of coordination.
In addition, when we looked at the online profile of the cat she thinks might be a good fit for us, the description says that the cat would probably be best as an "only cat" and this lady we talked to KNOWS that we have another cat at home, because J discussed all that with her on the phone.
So she coincidentally suggested another tortoise shell cat, at a different store, that we couldn't see until Sunday, and who needs to be an "only" cat...so I think that, despite J assuring her that the cat's personality and other factors being important, not looks, she was specifically looking for another calico/tortoise shell female. And she seems to have conveniently not noticed that we could have just gone back to PetCo to look at another, AND that the one she was directing us toward probably needed to be an "only" cat.
The other cat at PetCo had been described to us by the PetCo volunteer as a "lap cat" and she had seemed to like us well enough, though Beth had hogged J's lap the whole time we were there. We weren't thinking of her because she was a tortoise shell, but because she was a lap cat and might have wanted to spend time in J's lap if Beth hadn't hogged it.
Well, since we had made an appointment to meet the other one Sunday, we didn't go back to the PetCo, though I did stop by there on my way back from the doctor, to look in the cat room, on Wednesday, and the other cat was still in there. The volunteers were not in yet so I wasn't able to get in to the cat room to see how she interacted without another cat "in the way" and we never got back there together to see if she might be a good fit.
J continued to research adoptable cats online and we decided to check out the Furkids main site, followed by the Gwinnett shelter. Well, at the Furkids main site the one lady there told us we couldn't even go in and look at the cats, because no adoption volunteers were there on Thursdays. That we could come back on Friday or Saturday, between 11 and 4, and even then we couldn't look at cats unless we already had an application on file. Well the application actually has a space for you to put in for a specific cat. We told her we did have an application in but that someone else had already started the process and ended up adopting the cat we wanted, and that we might be back.
We're not going back.
Frankly we're seriously tempted to cancel the Sunday appointment too, but we will probably go. J wants to at least see this other cat, even though we have one on "hold" at the Gwinnett animal shelter, and it's not totally inconceivable that we might adopt two, but I'd rather stick with one, in addition to Lilo of course. If we adopt two more now, then one or two more will come to our house and adopt us, and next thing you know we have 5 cats. I know how this works. LOL.
We're not going to give Furkids any online review, but if we did, it would be negative. The people at the Gwinnett shelter were much more helpful and we got the process going right away, with a full understanding and explanation of all the steps and how long the process would take.
By the way, the Gwinnett shelter is no longer terribly close to being "at capacity" so the Catapalooza seems to have worked out well.
And if that adoption doesn't work out, J found another organization called GoodMews (goodmews.org) that sounds promising, and the Atlanta Humane Society does seem to have a cat shelter in town as well and I guess we could look there.
The people who run Furkids may think they are "all that" but you know, they may be the biggest no-kill cat shelter in Georgia but maybe there is a reason they have over 700 cats "available"...from what I've read, if some of them, including the one who runs the whole show, weren't such KITTENS about things, maybe they could have found homes for more of them.
I'm just saying.
