Good evening, thanks, yes it was an easier day today. Got off early. That is always a good day. [/quote]
Hi Kathie
I used to love being able to get off early with the days work being done so that I also got the full days pay

Sooooo...TGIF!!
Hair cut done...enjoyed seeing the new shop, and seeing old friends from the old shop this morning. Came home, ate a portabella mushroom sandwich with lettuce, onion, tomato, and melted some cheese over the mushroom part...was good.
Napped, then went to Sweet Tomatoes to enjoy a fresh raw veg. salad, some vegan black bean chili, ate a small piece of non-vegan corn bread (can't always be perfect ya know), and then drove over to watch Olivia in gymnastics. Tonite she learned a new (move, Trick, whatever,) and exited the balance beam with a back flip. That is a leap of faith! But she did it several times... and didn't break anything or land on her head
Home, took out the trash to the street, and fed Tom E. I'm about ready to hit the hay, will do my word puzzle and a suduko, and if Ted has played, I'll add a Scrabble word to our game. If not, will play a word in the morning..
Its been a good week, and I look forward to tomorrow..still love to see Friday, even after being totally retired now for 3 years.
Oh, Ed...loved the clear Al windows, the dandelion recipe's, didn't watch the edible spoons, but I think its a dandy idea. Hope you enjoy your weekend at the beach! Myrtle was one of my fav. beaches when I lived in TN. 5-6 hour drive, nice clean beaches, but still many places to go shelling. Used to love the Christmas Shop there. And yes, I've used a starfish sprayed gold as a Christmas tree topper a time or two in my life!!
Later...
Was the Portabello Mushroom used in between bread or as the bread ? I have seen them used both ways on cooking shows.
I believe that it takes practice and commitment to do that sort of move. I know I would fall off just trying to walk on a balance beam.
I have You beat on the complete retirement duration, OTOH I suspect that You worked to an older age. When They closed where I was working a couple of days before my 65th B'day I did not look for other work as There was not much of anything for a while due to Superstorm Sandy and being tired of working. I had started working back in High School.
Just curious what would make it non-vegan corn bread ? In my case I think it might be the Butter I spread on it.
Anyhow, Have a Great Day

You posted at 3:20 AM, I have no doubt that You will be on later than usual today.
Enjoy Your Vacation.

Howdy again y'all, from Murrells Inlet, right near Myrtle Beach. J is running a bit late but that's all right. I had a nice "free" hot breakfast in the hotel lobby. Free for me anyway, as the company is paying for it.
As soon as J is ready, I guess we'll be taking him to work and then I think I'll come back to the hotel and go back to sleep...4 hours is not enough.1 -
Good Morning!
Can't wait to see if Ed was really able to get back to sleep. All too often when away from small children, and pets I couldn't nap to save me! And that was frustration X2!!
Enjoy Murrells Inlet! If I recall correctly that is just a tiny bit south of Myrtle Beach and is a great area! We used to stay South of Myrtle Beach when we'd go July 4th and again for Thanksgiving long weekend.
Roger...Eggs, Butter, and Milk would make cornbread non-Vegan. (flour, cornmeal, and leavening are vegan though!) The way I fix them is to remove the black gills (not necessary, just looks better) and slice then about ⅜ thick and grill or pan fry til they soften and 'sweat'. Then the rest of the stuff along with the mushroom could go on bread or rolls. The mushrooms are 'meaty' and have a nice flavor...just an aside...the most nutritious part of all mushrooms is the part most people throw away, and that's the stem. Learned that the other day from the Food Summit!! Who knew??, though should have guessed!
Getting a taste of summer up there in Jersey are ya?? hmmmm.
As far as the Fitbit or any gps enabled device goes...it can also work to save your life in many cases. I really don't have a great deal of 'fear' of anyone knowing where I am in that respect. I was given 4 of the tracking devices called Tile for my birthday. Those are great for being tracked if lost or stolen.
Kathie, Good Morning. Hope you have a good Friday. Do you work 5 weekdays or 4? Somehow I've gotten it in my mind that you may be working 4. If so, enjoy your weekend. and if you're working today look forward to getting off work and enjoying your weekend!!!
Lots needs to be done IN my house, but I think I may very well take the weed eater to the back yard and cut back some of the weeds, etc. (definition of weeds....any plant that grows in the wrong place! That definition courtesy of the Master Gardener).
I'm off for the day....I may not be able to get as much done indoors as I'd like, but at least the back yard will be done, except for the little patch of blackberries that are blooming and feeding a bunch of honey bees!

Not being a baker I was wondering about the Cornbread
I wonder if the stems can be put in a blender with a binder and some flavorings to stuff the tops with ?
If I said a unwelcome IMO taste of summer...

HI Kathie1 -
So far an hour and a half of additional, interrupted, sleep. If the AC unit would just stay on all the time it would mask the other hotel noises but it won't so I hear doors, cleaning staff, etc. I got up and had lunch and then went out to check out a consignment store and the nearby Goodwill store.
The consignment store seemed to have nothing but women's clothing, and I didn't see anything that would really flatter my figure, so I only stayed a moment.
The Goodwill store was really not as nice as some of the local stores in Peachtree corners, though I did briefly browse men's shirts. Some of them would have looked decent on me. Much better than any of the stuff at the consignment store.
Then I thought about checking out some additional consignment stores but was feeling draggy again so decided to come back to the hotel, which is where I am now. Maybe I can snag a bit more nap in an hour or so, after I check my post-prandial blood glucose and see how a couple of ham and cheese hot pockets, two (just two!) Pringle's potato crisps, and a bit of walking around in the parking lots and the Goodwill store did for me.
Finishing a cup of coffee from the lobby (all day coffee!) and will have a bottle of water next. I could really hit the bed now but I'd have to get up too soon for the glucose test so I'll just doodle around on line for a bit.

Several of the people and entities involved in the new PACs have been investigated for alleged fraud and other illegal practices in the charity sphere.

I have trouble trying to sleep with intermittent noises so I can understand and sympathize with you giving up on sleeping. The consignment store seemed to have nothing but women's clothing, and I didn't see anything that would really flatter my figure, so I only stayed a moment.

Two Hop Pockets, hmm, I generally eat one at a meal be it a hot pocket, lean pocket or the tastier to me NS Melts. The main difference that is why I prefer the NS ones is the crust. I prefer the NS crust vs the Hot Pockets crust even though the latter has a crisper.
If I have a Potato Chip, Suddenly I look down and the bag is gone You have more control than I.
I was wondering if they keep the coffee fresh or if it is a Keurig in use after the morning rush?

Hi Valerie
It could have been worse, One benefit of being off Mondays is that You are not out trying to shop through the crowds on the weekend.
Cheers

Howdy y'all. It's satisfying Saturday. 62 here in Murrell's Inlet with an expected high of 77 and no chance of precipitation. 63 back home and an expected high of 83 with 30% chance of precipitation.
Met the bosses-in-law last night that I hadn't previously met. There were grilled steaks (HUGE grilled steaks), enough baked potatoes to feed a small third world country, and some chicken skewers and smoked whole chickens.
Honestly, there was enough food to feed 5 times as many people as were present. I hear most of the excess is going to show up in a new form at the company work space on Monday, so people who live here won't have to worry about breakfast or lunch that day, and probably could still have plenty left to take home for dinner.
They definitely know how to throw a party.
I've had this morning's free hot breakfast and am now pondering some coffee. They keep the coffee fresh all day. It's in big urns in the seating area of the lobby.
I could go back to bed for a short nap before checkout but I generally don't on drive mornings.
Back to Peachtree Corners in a while and see how much the cats trashed the house while we were gone!

Hi! Cinco de Mayo! I think I love Cinco de Mayo cause it just 'sounds' so neat to say...and cuz I can say it. Also my young HS age neighbor and my youngest nephew share this day for their birthdays. (makes it easy to remember)
Had bean burritos for brunch, and 2 rather spicy enchilada for dinner...along with salads both meals. Yummmm!
Tried to nap this afternoon, Ted called. He loves it when he catches me napping!! Kids! anyhow, he's coming out tomorrow so we'll tie into that 'new addition' again. He's handy for things that are heavy, or need ladders! We'll probably go to VeGreen's for early dinner which means I'll have leftovers for Monday! YEA!!!
Kitchen is clean, Tom E. has eaten, as have I...and since my nap was a bust, I may begin getting ready for bed time. I'm patiently? waiting for Ted to play a scrabble word....cuz I have another doozy to play. 3 moves ago I 'bingo'ed' and followed that up with a 30 point word. Depending on what and where he plays I can score another big word when its my turn.
Beautiful day here, and it never did rain. I looked at the weather channel, and we have typical summer time rain predictions for the next 7-10 days...choice is either 10% or 20% each day. Which generally is a cyb and we'll remain rainless. (and its too early for that...that is more like late June!)
Kathie, enjoy your weekend. (I know about the no crowd shopping, etc. It was a very nice perk)
Home safe Ed and J, and hope the cats were perfect and the house is intact!

Howdy y'all. We have been back for several hours now, but we needed to unpack, check food bowls for the cats and sugar gliders. Lilo had eaten most of her food, but there were still a few kernels of kibble left. I added more and she had a snack shortly thereafter. Dinah whined about having only kibble while we were gone and looked hopefully at me for some canned food but she can wait until morning. After a short time, she gave up and ate some more of her kibble. All the cats were very glad to have us back home. Kiara was so excited she went tearing all around the house.
On the way back we stopped at a roadside stand in South Carolina and bought some wildflower honey (with a bit of honeycomb floating in it), some homemade style hot jalapeño jelly, some home made style T.O.E. (tangerine, orange, elderberry) jam, and half a gallon of peach cider. I'm sure we'll enjoy those goodies and they should last me quite a while as neither of us eats much jam or jelly and I mostly use the honey for cooking, again in small quantities. The sugar gliders may get small amounts of it too.
Met all the bosses-in-law and their families, and saw a few people I hadn't seen in years. And I went out on the pier at Garden City and ogled the ocean.
Going to bed now. That was a long trip.

Hi
I'm back from walking and as I was walking across the parking lot to pick up my refill of coffee I found a penny, then leaving I found a second penny in their driveway, then crossing the street I spotted the third penny so I ended up with a grand total of 3 cents. The temperature this morning was 63 degrees. The walking was really nice today, There is a 70% chance of rain for today and the sky does have that appearance.

I would have loved that sort of party food, especially in the past. Even now I would likely have eaten the Huge steak, and possibly a smallish baked potato The Smoked Chicken I might pass on and try the Chicken Skewers depending on how they were seasoned.

Hi Kathie
Last nights news had weird questions people ask about Cinco de Mayo. Examples, When is Cinco de Mayo ? Is it something to do with Mayo (Mayonnaise)
What is it in celebration of. And more stupidity
I actually like Bean Burritos as as long as they are not spicy, I used to buy the large ones from the Dollar Tree, I have been avoiding them due to the heavy Carb load in them.
Pass on the Spicy Enchiladas and TBH anything with much heat. I still claim that something can be spicy but not hot. In some ways Pumpkin Pie is spicy, After all it has spices flavoring it
Leftovers, Easy and already paid for...Kitchen is clean, Tom E. has eaten, as have I...and since my nap was a bust, I may begin getting ready for bed time. I'm patiently? waiting for Ted to play a scrabble word....cuz I have another doozy to play. 3 moves ago I 'bingo'ed' and followed that up with a 30 point word. P.S. I hope our rain holds off as my brother mentioned yesterday that the mower smelled hot when he mowed so I hope I can get the shroud off and check to see if mice built a nest in the area over the cooling fins blocking the air flow as has happened in the past. Depends on the rain holding off.1 -

I know what You mean, I was never able to sleep late on my day(s) off either. I am still waking up before 5AM these days and not falling back to sleep. Thus I eventually learned to not stay up later than usual and planning on making it up by sleeping later the next morning.
Not much going on can be a good thing.
I talked to the garbage truck workers this past week as to whether VHS cassettes were garbage or recycle. Garbage they are so now I get going on cleaning out the room where they are stored. I have been taking some of them and converting them to DVD or BluRay. Mainly things I do not ever expect to see for sale. Family trips and events of course and I will hold on to those tapes as backup, Other items like the old HBO specials that they used to air many, many years ago.
Have a Nice Day

Howdy y'all. It's scintillating Sunday! 63 now with an expected high of 79 and 0% chance of rain. Feeling a bit more human this morning after getting a (mostly) decent night's rest. Lilo has gone back to playing vulture as a means of getting me up. Amazingly, at 15+, she can still get up on the headboard without too much difficulty.
Got the dishes done overnight, but need to clear the sink and clean the used cat bowls. And feed the cats. I had a couple of small slices of thin crust meatsa pizza for my breakfast.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I am still waiting to see any of the spotty showers that were in the forecast on today's weather forecast
I do like meat Pizza, meats I like on them would be Bacon or Sausage or Pepperoni.
My brother likes a Breakfast Pizza too. I tried a slice of Chicken Parm Pizza, never again
I also like all 5 of the NS Pizzas so I try to stay with them. The three Frozen ones have a nice crispy, crunchy thin crust.parityanimal wrote: »Signs you're at a bad buffet. I think for most of us ALL buffets are bad...
Going out on a limb here, signs I can think of would be Lots of Pasta. Cheap Veges, Low cost meats, Potatoes and rice.
Reasons I like a Buffet would be that I can have a large variety of things and still not have to much of any of them. Unlike eating at the Diner for example.
Have a Nice Day
