    Hi All,

Val, it was so good to hear from you! I am glad you are getting a second opinion. Surely something can be done to minimize the pain or make it disappear, which would be great! Do not give up! Some help has to be had somewhere!! :) Sorry the house did not work out, but it will. Has your boss left work yet? Time flies so fast for some reason as I get older...

Roger, we did get some storms, not just around me, and It looks like Alabama got spared the brunt of them again. It felt good to sleep with no interruptions and I sure feel better. I need to do some planting and put things back to rights after moving some things for the storms. Breezy day today and in the mid 60's. The cool front came thru with winds near 45 MPH last nite, it was rather scary at times!

But the dogs are loving it! The important thing!! LOL! :#

Have a good day, all! ..Jan B)

    Good Morning!

Well, so far it has been remarkably quiet this morning. The weather radio woke me several times in the early am but for severe thunderstorms that was not over my house, I guess. A good thing! It almost noon, and we have had barely even rain. It is looking like a fizzle for strong storms, they do not seem to be materializing. They have called off school and many businesses have closed. Poor weatherman. I am of the better safe than sorry type, because it could have been bad. Still time to go!

Awesome job with planning and on your shopping trip! You are incredibly organized!

Also incredible job not paying attention to all the fast foods and the bakery. Usually if you come home and eat, you are often more satisfied, as fast food is gone too quickly, and not satisfying. It will always leave you wanting something else besides.

    *******GOOD INSPIRATION!!!********

The design fails are hilarious. I could not decide which was the worst, they were all so crazy! I am off to read the humor! The sun is coming out, maybe it will fuel storms, but I think the poor weathermen are going to take a beating for this one. Oh dear! :s ..Jan

Hi All. I'm struggling to get (and stay) on my healthy track. But, I did finally call my doctor to ask for an ortho referral for my hip. On the voice mail to them, i started crying. I'm just so tired of being in pain. I finally got my taxes done! A young family wanted to buy my house, but now the dad got a job two hours away...so no interest in that house. Work is crazy. I wish you both a lovely day! Val

    Hi Val
I'm really sorry that You are in such pain. Sometimes it takes a second or third opinion...\
My Mother had fallen and damaged her back, The doctors gave her something to wear to help support her back and she was in bad pain and even strong pain killers only helped a little bit. It took 3 or 4 different doctors before she found one that said I can fix that, a few hours in the Hospital, some time and rehab and Voila, No more pain, no more needing a walker etc.

If I am remembering correctly that would be the house You had rented out in the past?
I have an appointment w orthopedist Friday morning. I cried again making that appointment. At least I'll have a second opinion soon. If he says I should have come in sooner, my head will pop off!!!

Just in case I hope You hear really good news at the Orthopedist today.

    Good Luck

    Hi
I was out walking today and did 8K steps and I will be going back out for a little further walk to the bank when it opens. The temperature this morning was 45 degrees on the weather forecast and 47 on the front porch, There was a light rain and heavier rain in the afternoon. The was some strong Thunderstorms yesterday afternoon too,

The brook I walked past is running somewhat high and was over it's banks.

    Have a Great Friday

    Hello!

Pretty day here and still breezy. The heat kicked on last night and it was a little chilly. Close to 40 degrees but with a steady wind. We should warm up in a day or so back in the 70's. I did plant some rosemary and dill in a few places in between my four o'clocks, so if I keep up with it, that area won't be wild and weedy all summer. lol. Southern Al. was hit with an EF2 tornado and we had power outages and debris, but most damage seemed to hit Georgia and S. Carolina instead. My stepmother in S. Carolina had a lot of flooding and bad lightening.

Glad to know you were not sick, it is not often you don't post! Headed for more humor as we speak. I have to clean house and I am slow going. I may need caffeine this morning! I can sure feel the lugging of the dirt bags, raking, and hole digging this morning! :#

Take care! Thanks for the humor! Always appreciated! Have a good weekend! ..Jan.. B)

Hi. Yes, my boss and her boss and the bosses boss have all gone. New company president, new boss' boss, and a colleague has temporarily stood up to manage our group. She's nice but had no idea of all that i do. I had one of the worst doctor visits I've ever had in my life. They were the rudest meanest jerks. The xray tech grabbed and pushed me by my hurt hip and i gasped and pulled away. She started making fun of me asking if I has a scratch on my skin? No, they don't do xrays for scratches! The doctor was patronizing, he got angry and walked out when I asked him to write down the diagnosis because I didn't understand what he was talking about....said he would but didn't. No, I don't know what he thinks is wrong or what I'm supposed to do or not do. Prescription for NSAID. Really? I don't think super-aspirin will help. Supposed to go to physical therapy next week. I'm really upset (crying most of today).

    Hi Val
From reading You post above it would appear to me that Your referral doctor and staff have bad bedside manner, On a scale of 1 to 10 I would likely give a rating of -10. I wonder if it is time to write a letter of complaint and tell Your regular doctor about Your experience?

I'm sorry that the visit had that effect on You, I feel badly.

I found this and it would appear to me it applies to You since it has been a year?
    From Here http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/309286-treatment
    Surgical Intervention

Generally, no surgical intervention is required for cases of trochanteric bursitis, because most patients respond well to nonsurgical treatment. However, surgery may be indicated if symptoms prove refractory to conservative management.

When surgery is warranted for refractory GTPS symptoms, longitudinal release of the ITB combined with subgluteal bursectomy appears to be a safe and effective for most patients. [31] Only rarely does a patient with trochanteric bursitis need a bursectomy and partial resection of the greater trochanteric process. [32, 33, 34]

A study by Domínguez et al indicated that endoscopic surgery can yield good to excellent results in GTPS. The report involved 23 patients who underwent endoscopic treatment for the condition, with significant improvement in pain—as measured with the visual analogue scale, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index, Modified Harris Hip Score, and Hip Outcome Score—found at 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-up. Good morning!

Val, I can not believe he was such a jerk. I really think you should report him. No one should ever feel that way. I wish you were down here so you could go to better doctors. While some pain in ortho apparently gives the docs a hard time, at least they are thorough and somewhat competent. Perhaps Roger is onto something. There are also pain management doctors that deal with chronic pain with methods other than just drugs.Sounds like you could use a bouncer when you go to protect you from being bullied. I am just so sorry that was your experience. I can't believe they do not have better treatments in Texas. The PT may help. So much depends on who you get for the experience. It will hurt at first, but you should feel better at the end by even the second visit. Have them finish with ice or heat if they don't offer it. I wish I still worked if only for suggestions and to see if anyone Dr- wise had a friend in Texas who was ortho. Perhaps there are specialists in sports medicine who could help you more. Lots of players get those type of injuries and the docs work on getting them playing again. Really sorry! Do not give up!!! <3 ..Jan

    Hey Roger!

Apparently I am resting today more than I thought. I am staying with my friend for a couple of hours and have to also do baked beans for church tomorrow. We are having hot dogs cooked out and chips and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Guess i won't work in the yard today, lol! Probably a good thing.
Thanks for the humor- sounds like a good day for it. Good job keeping up your routine! Jan

    Hi
I was out walking today and did 7.2K steps. The temperature this morning was 43 degrees on the weather forecast vs 32 on the front porch :)
Considering the morning temperature and the frost I passed by it is forecast to be in the 60s today!
The brook I walked past is running somewhat high, however it is lower today than yesterday.

I posted this here since I am currently listening to Isaac Asimov's Rendezvous with Rama while walking.

    Hi Jan
I always think Hot Dogs need a side of Baked Beans :)
In the past I have even been known to take the Hot Dog Bun and instead of the more traditional toppings which would be, Ketchup, Mustard, Relish, Chili, Cheese or Sauerkraut use Baked Beans on the Hot Dog, Does that make me weird?

Clever Dog in the Humor along with Cat Woman :)

If You see this in time You could try some Baked Beans on one bite of the Hot Dog to see how it tastes to You.

Have a Good Day at church.

Second Opinion From Doctor Nets Different Diagnosis 88% Of Time, Study Finds
    From Here: https://www.studyfinds.org/second-opinion-doctor-diagnosis-study/
ROCHESTER, Minn. — When it comes to treating a serious illness, two brains are better than one. A new study finds that nearly 9 in 10 people who go for a second opinion after seeing a doctor are likely to leave with a refined or new diagnosis from what they were first told.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic examined 286 patient records of individuals who had decided to consult a second opinion, hoping to determine whether being referred to a second specialist impacted one’s likelihood of receiving an accurate diagnosis.

The study, conducted using records of patients referred to the Mayo Clinic’s General Internal Medicine Division over a two-year period, ultimately found that when consulting a second opinion, the physician only confirmed the original diagnosis 12 percent of the time.
    Doctor
A new study finds that 88% of people who go for a second opinion after seeing a doctor wind up receiving a refined or new diagnosis.

Among those with updated diagnoses, 66% received a refined or redefined diagnosis, while 21% were diagnosed with something completely different than what their first physician concluded.

“Effective and efficient treatment depends on the right diagnosis,” says lead researcher Dr. James Naessens in a Mayo news release. “Knowing that more than 1 out of every 5 referral patients may be completely [and] incorrectly diagnosed is troubling ─ not only because of the safety risks for these patients prior to correct diagnosis, but also because of the patients we assume are not being referred at all.”

More Information on that page including this and more, the Highlighted part is by me.
Combine this with the fact that primary care physicians are often overly-confident in their diagnoses, not to mention how a high number of patients feel amiss about questioning their diagnoses, a massive issue is revealed.

    Hi!
Well, I was talking to someone and never got a hot dog, they ran out and could have used about 1-2 doz. more. But I was glad the turnout was great. I had a small helping of chips and beans! I have just a little to bring home, so more beans tonite! My diet today? 1100 calories beans, and a few chips and a slice of cheese, lol! My key lime pie was gone, so I did not get a slice of that either, lol! All in all, a good morning though a little heavy on the carbs, ha ha!
Love the humor!! It is almost 80 degrees, with lows back in the 60's. Crazy weather!! Jan.. :)

Hi Jan and Roger. I'm feeling much better emotionally. For more than a year, my regular doc (who is super nice), thought this pain was from a crushed hip...which tskes a year to heal. It was only because we got to 14 months with no improvement that I insisted on seeing an ortho doc. Yes the guy was a royal jerk. But i do think his diagnosis is right. I've talked with many friends that have had ortho surgery and they sau most are royal jerks! I need competence more than a warm fuzzy, but I'm going to set my boundaries on him we deal with each other. I've also done a lot of reading and watched many YouTube videos both professional and patients. It is true that most don't require surgery....IF treated promptly... and if caused by running rather than an acute injury. When not treated, crystals form in the bursa and it thickens...and more often needs surgery. It had been doing okay around the house with a cane to relive pressure...but i walked three miles today w the cane, and had incapacitating pain and could barely get back to the car. Fortunately the pain subsided sitting in the car! I want my normal abilities back! Interestingly, if they surgically remove the bursa...the body grows a new one! I never knew that. Thank you Roger for caring and looking up helpful info and Jan for all your care and encouragement. You're both so wonderful!

I was out walking today and did 8K steps + a Quarter found. The temperature this morning was 50 degrees on the weather forecast vs 39 on the front porch :)
It is warming up nicely today too.
We are heading into a week where their will be a day with a high of 80, not that 80 is near a record. According to the weather forecast I saw before I headed out for my walk the Record high is 87 Degrees for the same date.
