    Good morning!

Sorry no money! You might like fried green tomatoes! First off they are fried- how bad can that be, lol! They are just a little tart, but not at all bad! Have you had fried pickles? They are good too, though I am picky about the kind of pickles. My daughter and I went to a new to us Italian restaurant. It was so good! She has spaghetti and meatballs and I had a sausage, turnip green and mushroom lasagna in am alfredo type of sauce. Sounds strange,, but really good. They have great red sauce and pizza and calzones. I will have to go back! We ate at home today being good, as we have eaten out too often, I am afraid! >:)

Interesting articles. They do make you think!! Burned house or not, I felt i was missing something. That was a small looking house on a small looking lot. The neighborhood did not look that great. $800,000? No way, even if I was rich!! :D Reminds me of the children's tale, "The Emperor's New Clothes". Remember that? Not going to Mexico, either.... :s Most definitely do not want E.Coli.....yikes....

Val, I am sorry you are having it so rough!! Please take care of yourself!! I hope you can find some time for yourself and things slow down... <3

Headed for bed..up late is a bad habit!! Take care all!! ..Jan

    Hi Jan
I have never had fried pickles either is that a Southern thing ?

That dish You had sounds interesting, You can see what I had for a meal each of the last two days that was a new item.
I love Calzones, Pizza and Pastas with all types of sauces. And they are all High Carbohydrate and Fattening :(

Their is heavy rain in the forecast for Monday :(

What makes for the interest in the burned out house is the Exorbitant prices in that area. From my reading in that a $100,000 income may not make it possible to buy or rent lodging.

Mexico has gotten worse in the last few years...

The ecoli seems to have been been caused by Romaine Lettuce.

    Good morning!

I guess fried pickles is a Southern thing. They fry everything, lol! They are good. I am just excited we have a new place to eat open up. Also that it is Italian. My dish was a little with a twist with the Turnip greens, but they were fresh and reminded me of the spinach in reg. Italian dishes. I wish pasta was not so carby, for sure!!

We are supposed to have some storms here come the afternoon. Lots of wind and rain, hopefully no tornadoes. Some of it will probably be after dark.

Air hand dryers have never been my favorite! Now I know why...I am guessing the nude man was on something and/or in serious need of mental health help. Frightening. Appreciate the follow up lettuce story. I eat a lot of Romaine. I am thankful it was not in this area. Poor people...

I have had both of those dishes you wrote up also. I though the bowl a great concept and I enjoyed them too!

What have you been listening to while walking lately? It is wonderful to see the flowers and animals in the spring! While autumn is my favorite season, Spring is a close second!! :)

Have a good rest of the week-end!! ...Jan

I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 43 degrees. There is a Breeze blowing too, The forecast possibility for rain had appeared to have fallen overnight and was mostly dry by the time I left. There is more rain in the form of showers leading to heavy rain for Monday.

    Hi Jan
These days all the Calzones are baked in this area, I used to know a place that deep fried them which was tasty too, Unfortunately it is no longer there. Usually they are filled with Ricotta, Mozzarella cheeses and Sliced Ham.

I see that they had Tornadoes in parts of the South. Hopefully You do not have any in Your area no weather damage.

I have avoided the Hot Air dryers for many years, even if they were not disease vectors I believe they dry the hands.

Have You tried any of the other dishes from that company ?

I have been trying to decide if I want to hold on to one of those bowls to heat my frozen vegetables as some of them leave liquid in the cooking vessel.

    Cheers

NNot a nice looking day outside with now, I got out anyway as I had 6 pieces of Mail that needed to go. However this mornings weather forecast shows the rain gone by 2PM and warming up nicely. I think I just heard Thunder too.

    Hi Jan
The Calzones sold here usually come baked with no toppings these days and a side container of Gravy to dip into. When You Say gravy to an Italian or with Italian Foods You mean a tomato based sauce AKA Spaghetti Sauce.
I suspect that a Crispy Cheese topping on that was baked on would be tasty.

What impressed me was that the two dishes I tried were tasty, low Calorie and low Carb and still tasty.

I have been using the same Jimmy Dean Plastic bowl from one of the their breakfasts for years to heat my Frozen vegetables and a couple of different NS ones for heating other foods.

Better luck at church next time. You could try eating before going.

    Hello!

Good idea to eat before church, and I should do dishes not go thru the line! People barely understand sauce here, let alone gravy, lol. Italian that is!! :D I need to stop the ethnic food for a few days, lol! My daughter and I went to Birmingham to a show, and stopped again at out little Lebanese Turkish place. Still yummy. I went over some because I ate lunch too. A few too many calories.

That is amazing you have reused a few dishes to microwave successfully. Tell me if the bowls work- as I do remember thinking it would be great to keep and reuse them!!

We are having some cold for us, nights in the 40s and mid 30's. We had a cold stiff wind today, quite blustery and hard to drive!! Thank goodness that has quit.

Some really strange stories in the batch this time. Rather scary....

The writers call the Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder song 'naïve' compared to the 'woke factions of today's cultural discourse'

....The reason why some of the songs might be considered offensive are pretty straightforward, such as Nirvana's "Rape Me." But even well-meaning songs were declared offensive, such as Live Aid's "Do They Know It’s Christmas?" USA Today acknowledges the song was written to raise money for the 1980's Ethiopian famine, but complains the group "did it with a song that declares the entire continent of Africa is bereft of water, trees or joy."

Even "Ebony and Ivory," the 1982 anti-racism collaboration recorded by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, was declared politically incorrect for not being "woke" enough.

"McCartney and Wonder meant well with their hyper-literal interpretation of race relations," USA Today acknowledges. "But their message of ‘people are the same, there’s good and bad in everyone, so let’s just get along' would be interpreted as hilariously naïve by the more woke factions of today's cultural discourse."

Aerosmith's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" is likewise declared problematic, even though the song about a feminine-looking man was written by an openly gay songwriter.

IMO going through the line or even looking at it could lead to overeating

I remember hearing that years ago out west that they thought that ketchup was OK as Spaghetti Sauce, and from a different source that when they asked for Mayo on a sandwich they were given Miracle Whip and that the sandwich place insisted that it was Mayo

    Humor once more

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 39 degrees. To Do list for the day is started, Charge the batteries for my heated mittens that ran out this morning , The iPod showed low battery yesterday and this morning so it needs charging too. Before I do that I need to add and delete items for iTunes, then plug it in and synchronize it. Beyond that I have nothing critical that needs doing :)

The Audio-book I was listening to finished while I was walking so I switched to Music which I am still listening too. I did that on purpose as when I Synchronize the iPod it means I need to remember where I was if I was in the middle of a book so it is easier to switch to music. iTunes gets updated for content when I finish my messaging later on so why not listen to more music...

The iPod also goes into a different state when the low battery warning appears, I hear it announced in my ears and on the screen. When that happens I can adjust the volume as usual with the buttons on the side, however to pause it or change content I need to hit the button center bottom that makes the screen appear then swipe the low battery warning off to pause or change what I am listening too.

I blew it yesterday, my Brother gifted me with a 1/2 pint of Rice Pudding from a place he found that opened last week. End result, No more Rice Pudding shortly in the house :(

    Hi Jan
I thought I heard something about the deadline being extended due to a Computer System Crash at the IRS.
The way I look at the IRS and taxes is file ASAP if due a refund and File as late as possible if paying and do not file for and extension

I think that I would fly again despite the engine destroying itself. Flights have a good safety record in the US as far as fatalities. The Jets are designed to fly with the loss of an engine and still land safely and in general the containment shields on the engines do their job. I regard the so called shrapnel hitting the body of the plane as a fluke. You will have noticed how calm the Pilots voice was in the recordings they played and that was no mention of damage to the flight controls.

I found the one about the teacher that could not read to be scarier.

    Good morning!

You are right! The teacher article was unbelievable! Remembering you are still needing heated mittens is kind of strange too! My mind gets it is only April and still cold up north, but we have been experiencing Spring for so long, even with our cold spells, it seems strange. It can seem summer hot here in the sun, yet spring like in the shade. Not a bad thing!!

I had to laugh about the rice pudding. I have been wanting some for a while now, just have not got there. I do not eat it often, but love it on the few times I do! Sorry it derailed you, but knowing you, you will be right back on track!!

Monday night my daughter and I drove to Birmingham to see Teresa Caputo, T.V.'s Long Island Medium." It was an amazing experience, and hard to believe she does not have a gift. I realize these people could be planted or researched. It seems their reactions are quite genuine, and I find it hard to believe so many people could keep any "shady" part a secret if she is not gifted. The empathy and help she gives these people is worth it either way, that in itself is a gift. She sure seems genuine! Then Tuesday night we went to see Shen Yu, the chinese show I saw last year. It was still beautiful the second time, and Jenny enjoyed it as a first. We decided we are getting too old to do back to back concerts though. Just the way it worked out. I am so tired today, I feel like a Mac truck got me!! :#

Sad to hear about Harry Anderson. I liked him on Night Court and some other thing he did, that I can not remember now. Amazing about the asteroid! Some people's Mamas down here used catsup for spaghetti sauce often. I have used it to make the old weight watcher's pizza. Just toast with one slice cheese, catsup and Italian seasoning. Even some Chefs use it, so it is fine with me!! We always had it in top of stuffed peppers and hash, but it had to be baked with the dish, not just put on top! :) I love both miracle whip and mayo, though most people down here are purists with their mayo. It is hard to get them to taste a sauce , ect, made with M.W., mustard, vinegar, and some sugar. They love it, if they will just taste it... :*

I have to usually pay state taxes now. It seems simple to just pay one time, rather than payments. It hurts either way, lol...I usually break even on federal. Next year will be interesting with the changes....

Have a great Thursday!! Stay on track!!

Miss you, Val!! <3 ...Jan... B)

    Hi Jan

I'm glad You enjoyed the shows, Good Luck recuperating quickly.

I did not use the heated mittens today, I did use the insulated gloves, Two reasons. It was not that cold outside and I did not want water getting into the electronics of the gloves that control the three heat settings.

I tend to be skeptical regarding mediums, I think they that the reading is dependent on reading the persons body language TBH. I wonder how they would do with a person that has had the training on how to beat a Lie Detector ?
Harry Anderson’s other credits include Harry “Harry the Hat” Gittes on “Cheers”and Dave Barry on “Dave’s World.” I did not remember him in Cheers, I did enjoy Dave's World OTOH.

How well did it work with the WW Pizza ? I have some thin English Muffins in the freezer and Shredded Mozzarella in the refrigerator that I could use as a Mid Morning snack. I'm thinking toast the muffin half in the toaster to crisp & defrost it then sauce it, add the cheese and Microwave to melt the cheese.

Mayo and MW have somewhat different tastes and both have their uses. Other spreads I have in the Refrigerator are Thousand Island and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. All of those work well on the bread with chicken as the meat. The BBQ Sauce does need the Chicken to be heated IMO.

The trick is to not tell them that MW is used

I am a old school type, Tomato Gravy for a Italian pasta dish should be simmering on the stove with assorted meats in it for a long time. The meats can include Beef or Pork Neck-bones, Italian Sausage, Ground Beef, Meatballs, Pork Skin Braciole stuffed with various ingredients. Some use cheese etc. and others use Sliced garlic.
    https://www.goodfoodstories.com/cotenne/
Cotenne, or pork skin braciole, is a traditional Southern Italian addition to tomato ragu. A rolled-up pig skin is browned and simmered in sauce
I have to usually pay state taxes now. It seems simple to just pay one time, rather than payments. It hurts either way, lol...I usually break even on federal. Next year will be interesting with the changes....

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 36 degrees. There is a chilly breeze blowing too. As is my habit I turned on the Bedroom TV to check the temperatures and weather forecast and had a blank screen. To see if it were the TV or the Cable news channel I checked on the Living Room TV and found a frozen screen that appears to have happened while after 2AM. It was Out when I left to go walking and as of 6:45AM when I checked is back.

    Hi Jan
To make a WW Pizza I might look at a jar of pizza sauce in the Grocery store, who knows it might be better in terms of calories etc.

I sort of assumed that neck bones was a local thing, Oops.

I'm sorry to hear about that needed surgery. Hopefully all goes well, best wishes regarding that.

Yesterday was a Dark and dreary day until well into the afternoon when a little sun and blue sky appeared. Until them it was on and off rain for most of the day, not a heavy rain, just enough to be annoying.

    Good morning!

So much rain you guys got! We only had 1 day's worth. It is a chilly start but will reach the 70's today and 80's Sat. We were supposed to go Strawberry picking today, but they were limited, and we were not getting up at the crack of dawn. I actually was rather happy, as I am just exhausted from all the activities this week so far! I can stay home and I am happy!! How much rain did you get the last 2 days?

I caught up on the news articles. The wooly mammoth one was really interesting to me. I am not much for cloning or bringing back things, nor altering DNA, but the thought of having these mammoths back is exciting to me. How cool is that!! I do not mind them fixing birth defects, but I do really draw the line at most manipulations. Custom picking your offspring scares me to death...

I had not heard of neck bones in sauce except in the old neighborhoods in my grandmother's time. They do it in NOLA too, as there is a large Italian presence there and history. Who knew, lol?

We had actually lost our cable service a short time too during the rain, or just after. Interesting...

A lot of violence over petty things. No surprise there.

Had way too much BBQ and sides last night at our singles dinner. I got a variety of meats, beans, camp stew, and peach cobbler. No greens were offered as sides but slaw. That is high too with the mayo. I really enjoyed the sausage and brisket so I know what to order next time. I took home chicken, a rib, and smoked turkey for today. Not so good for the diet, but yummy. I need to eat home though, and not go out so much!! :#

Oddly, I have a router on my computer and phone connections because they are supposed to be more secure...Good score on the LEDS. Some can be quite pricey!

Have a good week end and take care! :) ...Jan B)

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 33 degrees. Overall it was better walking than yesterday despite being being cooler as there was no breeze.

I did have a Pair of Deer moving back and forth across the road in front of me for a few blocks. Due to the size difference one I'm guessing mother and young'un.

    Hi Jan
They did show over 4 inches of rain in a nearby town and when I walked past the dam in the park there was a lot of water flowing over it and I could see where the lake was up too.

Did You see a news report on Strawberries ? The one recent broadcast showed this
    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/04/10/dirty-dozen-list-fruits-vegetables-most-pesticides/502096002/
Strawberries, spinach top 'Dirty Dozen' list of fruits and vegetables with most pesticides

About a third of all strawberry samples had at least 10 pesticides, the study found. One sample, had an "astounding" 22 pesticide residues, notes the EWG, a non-profit group advocating for better human and environmental health.

Following strawberries on the Dirty Dozen list was spinach, in which 97% of samples contained pesticides residues. Rounding out the top five were three common fruits: nectarines, apples and grapes.

I wonder if ones You pick Yourself are also that way ?

Although I'm past it I would not even want to know a babies gender before birth, Let alone manipulate them, Does that me me old fashioned ?

My suspicion is that Neckbones were originally used due to availability and price
Many of the foods eaten in the past fall into that category, I include Chitterlings, and other traditional ethnic foods.

The cable loss sounds as if water got into it somewhere or a car took out a pole.

IMO people seem readier to turn to violence than in the past.

I am somewhat surprised that there was no greens in any form as a side dish. Home Made Baked beans would be good if high in carbs and calories, especially the way my brother makes them using dried beans.

As I may have mentioned eating before hand could help or it could just add extra calories when temptation overcomes the lack of appetite. That is the same reason they tell You to eat before grocery shopping to cut down on impulse buying.

A router does add a form of firewall between the devices and the Internet, However a more important use is simply that with out one only one device can be used on the Internet. The Router performs the important function of taking requests from the device and sending it to the Internet and routing the reply to the proper device.

All Routers need to have the default factory username and password changed and Manufacturers firmware updates applied in a timely manner. The ones that get compromised are usually the low hanging fruit that still have all the factory default and older firmware.

I know how some people feel about past the use by date foods, however and FWIW...

I was in my basement freezer and ran across a NS Cinnamon Streusel Muffin from my 7th delivery with a Enjoy by December 3, 2014 date. I had it for my snack before walking today, it was still tasty with the original texture and flavor, And possibly due to the packaging or the Oxygen absorbent pack there was no Freezer Burn or off tastes.

I had not realized I was on NS that long

    Hi Jan
Before I forget to mention in once again

You were asking about the bowl set from the frozen Dinner entrees...

    Pluses
    1. Free
    2. The hot water drains off of the frozen vegetables I'm heating
    3. After dumping that hot water the bowl is cool on the bottom while the vegetables stay hot
Any over-sauced food placed in it has a place for the sauce to drain off. Think some of the Chinese Take Out dishes

I suspect that there are more pluses and so far no minuses.

    Hello!

Good insight into those bowls! A good reason to buy them besides being a healthy choice!! :#

That was probably the best information explaining a router as I have ever had! My ex had set it up, so I do not know about updates or anything like that. But I have been fairly safe so far so that is a good sign!

I am guessing you may have been on NS longer than 3 years even. I have been on this website and NS probably 2.5 years now. I had the feeling you had been on it much longer than me. You have certainly been more disciplined than me by a long shot! :)

I know that the strawberries here you pick have far less pesticides than the stores. It is ridiculous there should be 20 some found on a plant....So much for healthy regulations...There are several organic farmers here and the rest use the bare minimum. Having been in the south with a million bugs and fungus, I can understand the problems...

I knew about the ordinances left from the war, It is just hard to imagine evacuating that many people. Frightening the bombs are still numerous so many years later.... I loved the robber with the bubble wrap story. geezzzz.... :D

I think that lady who dropped the 911 calls should have spent more than 18 days in jail. She rates with the bubble wrap guy!! I wish I had seen a picture of the whole tree they were talking about. I can not wrap my mind around a tree that large. I guess it is an interesting way to save the tree, and if it works, great! Kind of sad. They went to great lengths to save the Auburn U. trees that were damaged by a sick-o Alabama fan down here. It was sad. They were very old with traditions dating back to the start of the university football. Though toilet papering trees is not my thing, it is very sad someone would take poison to such old and living things..He was found mentally ill. At least the banyan tree was attacked by natural termites, and not some idiot..

And on a bright note, I know I do not waste that much food. Unfortunately, you can tell by my girth. I can get carried away if I buy fresh veggies and then am too lazy to prepare or eat out, so I only buy a little at a time.

I love you see deer when walking!! Keep on keeping on!! Appreciate the humor!!! ....Jan

I am sure that there are lots of unexploded bombs all over Europe. Here is the first episode of Danger UXB a British TV series dealing with them during WWII. If You go to YouTube there are links to more episodes if You decide to watch and enjoy it. I found it fascinating FWIW.

So many Crooks do Really stupid things it is amazing. I recall hearing about one on the radio where the Dimwit Wrote the Stick up note that he handed over the counter at the bank he was robbing on the back of one of his Deposit Tickets

I agree that lady should be in prison, She could have cost someone their life if not made injuries worse with delays.

There are so many crazy people out in public. They have a problem with them in NYC, NY. They are always hitting or slashing people in the city, It makes me glad I do not live there where You can not even walk to the store. In the last week the news covered a crazy man slashing someone and another person attacked when he did not give a panhandler money.

I see the Deer when they run generally, Their first reaction seems to be to freeze and watch. Then as I get closer they run and the motion is what catches my eye.

As I look out the window right now the sky is a pretty blue and cloudless so I expect that it shall warm up nicely and quickly.

Yesterday, Saturday's work some of which was shifting things around in the shed to create a place for the wood from the boxes that were placed around the Fig Trees last fall left me tired .

I think I shall have my brother pick up a jar of pizza sauce to go with the Shredded Mozzarella in the Refrigerator and the English Muffins I froze while I decided what to do with them.
Then I can toast them lightly to crisp them and use the sauce & cheese on them into the microwave to make small mini Pizzas  They will be delicious and fattening no doubt.

Congratulations, I noticed You are up to 165 days of logging in

    Good morning!

Long day at church but a good day. Except the usual "I ate too much " church events.Oh well.I was good. I got very little done. And I should have as I was home. I was just tired from the extra vet visits i guess. The pizza sounds good!

Mental health is quite the issue. I wish the Gov't would take notice, state or city. Anybody...

I loved the humor! There was so many good ones!

I just got a notice I was with NS for three years . How time flies! My weight hasn't... :p

Headed for bed! We did get about 3.5 inches or rain today....Take care....Jan

And Humor is now posted

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 39 degrees. Yesterday was a busy day doing the yard. The walking was not to bad today as there was no wind. The Sky is a cloudless sky and the day should warm up nicely.

The Russian farmer believed that these kittens were left there by a stray cat but little did he know, the little fellas weren’t regular kittens! You won’t believe what the farmer actually stumbled upon.
