    Hello!!

I braved the scales...Not worth it, lol! The weighing , not the food...Some weight will fall off again quickly! And some is worth more work again! Unfortunately! Ah!! vacations! :p

Very interesting articles! I am all for saving Robin Hood's place! It is close enough in my opinion and keeps a dear legend alive!!

Sad to know I can no longer swim like I used to! I made it across the width of the pool, gee, almost 1/2 the way! I used to swim laps lengthwise, the right way.... dive and all that good stuff! No more! My shoulder alters my strokes, though I can do an altered side stroke. I no longer get anywhere though, lol! I can tread about 30 seconds, lol... and sorta float but am off balance! Too many goodies. :D I would consider a swim membership, but they are so expensive and I like open hours.. I will have to check, lol! I hate I have lost so much of that!!

Glad you got your yard cut!! I did get out and trim some badly needed brush, and May gets to sit out and meditate. A win for all! Still unpacking and doing wash!

I did get up at 6:15, getting to bed by 11 something last nite. It was good to meet the girls and I missed them. I am not getting up at the crack of dawn, but am altering my morning slightly after enjoying the beach. Concentrate on some gardening early and get into my computer in the noon hour instead.. We will see....

All good thoughts and eating here for today! :) So far, so good! Sorry the banana and chocolate oatmeal was not a winner. It sounded good.... Jan B)

    Hi
I'm back from walking one shiny dime Plus one shiny Canadian Dime . The temperature this morning was 64 degrees.
Our weather was off and on Tuesday, Fog in the morning, High temperatures in the low 90s and then Thunderstorms and rain in the late evening into early nighttime.

I am giving serious thought to reloading to factory condition the one laptop. It has been to slow since it took the free upgrade to Windows 10. Doing that will require it to download almost all if not all of the Microsoft windows updates as I bought it new with Windows 7 right after Windows 7 was released.

I had the New NS Artichoke and Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast, Tasty enough, I could taste the Red Peppers in it OTOH so that limits its appeal for me. I will reorder just not heavy despite the nice low calorie count and low carb count.

    Hi Jan
I was afraid of the scale today so I skipped it. Yesterday was going OK until the stop at the Grocery Store after buying plants for the garden, then the siren song from the Hot food bar derailed me. The worst offenders were some Potato Tots and the Macaroni and Cheese Wedges, They were breaded and deep fried, Tasty OTOH. Add in the Chicken Broccoli from the Chinese eatery in there and a Breaded Chicken Breast :(:(

I never was good at swimming, or Floating as far as that goes. Good Luck there.

The Noah cats From Wednesday fit our weather here

    Hi
I'm back from walking and 2 cents. The temperature this morning was 58 degrees.
It was raining when I left for Coffee and I shortened my walk as a result. According to this mornings forecast the rain should end sometime in the afternoon. This will make my brother grumpy as he is chafing to work on the garden. There is also rain in the forecast through Sunday.
It would appear that the tri-state metropolitan area had 5 Tornadoes in the EF1 and EF2 category this week.

    Hi Jan
I suspect You would not like rain every day like we seem to be having ?

That was indeed the first Canadian Money I found walking. I have had it foisted off on me in the change from a purchase over the years.

It only took them two years to figure out that it was not a dog

On reflection I can only recall bad press regarding pit bull attacks, never anything positive where they did good, hmm...

I did not use the worst attack articles they were depressing.

No it isn't a Gourmet thing, look at this article it could help You reduce the amount You eat.
    https://www.livescience.com/55459-fda-acceptable-food-defects.html
9 Disgusting Things That the FDA Allows in Your Food
It's probably a bad idea to scroll through the Food and Drug Administration's "Defect Levels Handbook" before a meal.

The document lists the allowable limits on "defects" in more than 100 foods, highlighting exactly how much rodent poop is allowed in your cocoa beans (up to 10 milligrams per pound), how many insect heads it's OK to find in the fig paste in your cookies (up to 13 in every 3.5 ounces) and how many maggots can be tunneling in your tomatoes.

According to the FDA these food defects are part of the normal process of growing and processing food, and they present no health hazard as long as they remain below the "action levels" listed. [Read the full story on the FDA's food defect list]

So without further ado, here's a look at some of the particularly icky things the FDA allows in your food.

I hope this is not to disgusting for You. It is something my Brother & I have known for many years OTOH :(

First step with the laptop is see if it has a recovery partition and if so how to use it, if not then I will use the Recovery Disks. So I need to take the model number and search the makers website. Wish Me Luck

    Good morning!

We got about a little under a half inch of rain, finally. We need more however! At the moment I would gladly take your rain. We were forecast for rain all week, but we got hardly any. We were like the dust bowl down here! I am thankful for the little bit we did get!

I is hard when you get that yard urge and cannot get out and do! I had not known about the tornadoes!

The head transplant story is kind of creepy, I must say. Severing the spinal cords of the test animals does not sit well with me. I understand the need for the research, but I know I could not do that to an animal, esp. the dogs. The parrot story was funny! .... Imagine having all that money that you could wreck your high end car for fun...

I had seen those FDA reports before. They blissfully sank in my subconsciousness! I am sure they will again, as time passes.... I get hungry, and something looks yummy! I still eat hot dogs after all, lol!! :#

I did good yesterday right up until Jenny called me to go Thai for supper! I was starving though I had eaten some veggies before. I ended up having Chicken Satay for an appetizer, A dragon roll (sushi), a green chicken curry, rice and the waitress talked us into some Thai donuts. They had a mango glaze, mango slivers, and a few cashews. All was super fresh with a lovely presentation, and yummy!! Needless to say I was not under my calorie count. :D

Wow, your laptop work sounds complicated! :) I am still trying to learn the basics! LOL!

take care and have a good day!! Thanks for the humor!!! <3 ...Jan

Hi. Saw the GI specialist today. Monday while I’m under anesthesia he’s going to look around inside my stomach. Then tbd schedule he’s ordered an ultrasound of my gallbladder. Pit bulls are hard to place in good homes because of their reputation. But a scared 10-pound 8-week old puppy stuck in the middle of a road...I can’t turn away (I didn’t pull this one from the road, but a friend did).

    Hi Jan
strangely we are still under with the amount of rain for May, I suspect this weekend will take us over the top.

I never get that urge, To me yard work is a chore that I do grudgingly.
The head transplant story is kind of creepy, I must say. Severing the spinal cords of the test animals does not sit well with me. 'Good job Nell!' Cute moment a young girl recruits her pet cockatoo to help pull out a loose tooth

I have managed to not let that sort of thing bother me, I'm hungry, I eat.

I still eat hot dogs despite seeing how they are made. I do eat mostly Kosher Hebrew National All beef Franks. Several options, eat 2 of the 97% fat free at 45 calories each or the low fat ones at 110 calories per that are somewhat tastier but not a lot. I buy them when they are on sale as Kosher things like that are somewhat pricier. Take the 45 calorie dog, put it between a slice of 40 calorie bread with a slice of Bacon and toppings make a nice change of pace. Toppings depend on mood, being usually Ketchup or Ketchup and 0 calorie sweet relish and sometimes yellow Mustard
I did good yesterday right up until Jenny called me to go Thai for supper! I was starving though I had eaten some veggies before. I have had the Chicken Satay on occasion, I tend to like the Pad Thai or Pad See Yew and the Thai fried rice from the local Thai eatery is tastier than the Chinese version since they still put Egg, Peas and Scallion chunks in it. The Chinese Take out used to have those too. They also used to actually fry it and that gave it a bit of brown crunchy rice, now the Chinese seems to only have the meat and is colored yellow rather than being fried.

I bet the Thai Donuts were the big killer on the calorie count front.

    Enjoy the new humor

    Good Morning!

Very insightful article with all the savings stats. I felt I was doing pretty good, but honestly after this month. I also worry I will outlive my finances. :# I am luckier than most having SS (for what that is worth!) and military, though that can change, too as our benefits dwindle. Rather hard to know how much to have when you do not know how long you will live! :D I try to watch, but I do like certain things, so I need to cut back for a bit and be more frugal, though I do watch my buys. Expenses just keep going up to ridiculous levels. Lot of greed out there.....
The space dust story was very interesting! Pretty sure there are a few "private" collections of those missing moon rocks!

Love Swamp's little crayfish! Some really good ones to make me smile in the humor!! :)

I thought I was the only one realizing Chinese fried rice is not fried, anymore. I usually save it for the next day, and fry it and add better veggies that are Chinese, egg, onion, and make it crunchy. It really irritates me.... :s

I am still pooped from vacation....Like being home! :D

Val, I hope they can help you to find any problems, too. Chronic things are a pain...no puns intended. Worse when it is there, but you cannot find a cause! I will be thinking and praying for you and for success for Monday! <3

I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 52 degrees. On my return I see that the front porch is now down to 50 degrees.
It must have started raining shortly before I left on my walk as there was still dry ground under the trees. It is not a heavy rain, It has been steady since I left OTOH.

    Hi Jan
Color me as one of the under-saved, I don't know what I was thinking, I had a decent income and could have saved more :(

I like the Crayfish ones too.

Now that is something I had not thought about, Fry the Chinese Fried Rice with items Like Green Peas and some scrambled egg crumbs and naturally fried in real butter
Good Idea. Thank You for that. One of the reasons I knew it was not fried is the color and I remembered that it used to actually have browned bits of rice from the frying
Oh Darn, Now I am getting a craving to have some and do that to it, Despite that I know I would hate the scale afterwards.

I always came home from vacation more tired than when I left and that was if I drove, went by Bus or Plane...
The first time I was up in a plane was in a Constellation, that is the one with three tales and four propeller piston engines. I still think it is a pretty plane
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-1049_Super_Constellation
The Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation is an American aircraft, a member of the Lockheed Constellation aircraft line. The L-1049 was Lockheed's response to the successful Douglas DC-6 airliner, first flying in 1950. The aircraft was also produced for both the United States Navy and Air Force as transport, electronics, and airborne early warning and control aircraft.

Yikes, I hope it isn't permanent, If it was damaged what recourse is there ? Can they deaden the nerve for example ?

I do not recall ever having had a bone density test, I know mom had all kinds of test including that one.

The first time I recall hearing them called Sausage dogs, more common IME would be Weiner Dogs.

At a different Walmart i bought two 1-week NS kits. I didn’t read the box, one has tuna, so I'll give that away (allergy). I have no idea if there’s anything that can be done

    Good Morning!

Spent the day helping a friend. Ate junk, but it could have been worse I guess! It is so humid and in the 90's, it will be a long summer. I feel so buggy and itchy taking May May out so many times a day. I am an A/C girl! :)

It was terrible to see another school shooting and no improvements or something done. Very disheartening to say the least...

Sad about the lady and the wiener dogs too. Sounds like it was the owner who was to blame. If those dogs were "living in the woods" and in a pack, I would almost bet they were starving or possibly abandoned/ wild. Something was missing from that story...they can be a very snappish breed, but not usually a fatal injury breed like what happened.

Did not mean to make you hungry for fried rice, Roger! But those leftovers, esp. day old rice makes the BEST fried rice. I am glad you noticed it is not fried anymore. Not sure what they are doing.... :/

I do not doubt 1/2 the families are having $ trouble in the USA- The news and media tries to sound like we all have the money they are making for their bias news show, as well as entertainment, and politicians. Rich make up a small percent but they pretend we are all making that. it is a fantasy. Most people are poor and getting poorer...
Hertz story is just plain scary...I will never use them after that story...

Val, Hope you can find some solutions soon, and feel better soon! Glad you are losing again! You need to hols us up!!! :#
    Take care... Jan

    Some more humor is posted

    Hi
I'm back from walking and no cents. The temperature this morning was 59 degrees. Last nights fog that was building when I retired for the evening is gone and there was some rain overnight. When I left everything was wet so I put on the rain jacket, just in case, I ended up taking it off as it was not raining and I was feeling overly warm inside of it. It did start with a light drizzle as I neared the house, I did not bother putting the rain jacket back on.

    Hi Val
That is a new allergy that I had not heard of, I do not care for the NS Tuna dishes and when I end up with them by mistake or as a promotional freebie as happened last time I pass them off on my brother. he eats a lot of canned Tuna, The Canned Tuna to me stinks with a fishy smell that is unappetizing which is somewhat funny as I did eat Tuna Salad made from canned Tuna in the past. I did not care for the NS Tuna Casserole or the NS Tuna Salad Entrees.

BTW Have You considered QVC for NS foods ? They have a larger selection from what I can see.

    Hi Jan
It has been humid lately too, I blame the daily rain. On the good side of things it has been cool today being the exception where it is forecast to be in the 80s so the AC will be running when that happens.

Not having been around those types of dogs I did not know they were a very snappish breed.

These school shootings I suspect that there is nothing to be done. In Great Britain for example where the firearm laws are tough and very few guns as available they are suffering knife attacks instead of shootings.

New York City has tough gun laws, the criminals still get them and they have been having a lot of slashings and knifings.

Too many Loonies with no way to handle them.

I'm sure You did not mean to make me hungry, It takes mostly nothing for that to happen. I am tempted to pull a small Vacuum sealed packet of Chines White Rice out of the freezer and use it as a base for a ersatz fried rice or with a Chicken Broth as part of a soup. Color me cheap, not much gets thrown away. I think the ones in the freezer were from half pint containers that came with a meal.

My Take on the current so called fried rice is that it is done for convenience and price. I suspect that they take yesterdays left over white rice and add to it and that they make what they expect to use for the day and put it into the same type holding pot as they use for the White Rice. The convenience comes from that they use it with the lunch specials and many of the Dinners and having where they can just scoop it out means no time lost making it to order and that they also save by not doing to much by doing it to order. The #$ savings are that they do not have to make it to order. I hope I am making sense ?

When You look at today's humor look carefully at the first one, It took me a second look to understand it.

I have seen statistics that show the gap between the high dollar and the low dollar earners is getting greater, OTOH statistics can be made to show whatever they want to a certain extent the same as can be done with surveys.

The Hertz story what can I say :(

Bias in the media ? Just because 95% of Trump coverage is negative and pervasive as an example

It makes it hard for me to take much of a news broadcast seriously.

    Have a Nice Day

Hi. Those 7 dogs were 40-pound doxie-terrier mixes...tertier most likely being pit bull. There was a lot of relevant information missing from that article. Overall, doxies are the most. Common breed for biting. They just usually don’t do a lot of damage. I’ll be under anesthesia today so the doc csn put a camera in my stomach to look around. It should be quick and easy. Little Boudreaux is doing well and super sweet.

I just ordered 6-weeks of NS from QVC.

    Hi Val
I'm guessing that Doxie is Dachshund ?
That they are most common breed for biting is news to me
Do they give any warning by barking first ?

    Nice looking dog.
6 weeks, was the price good at QVC ? Is the 6 weeks three 2 week meal sets or do they sell a 6 week package or maybe a 2 week and a 4 week set of foods. Hopefully a really nice selection of foods.
FWIW I do like the lunch cups too, I Boil water and when it is going good pour it into the cups and I actually with some of them add extra water if they are a soup like the Tortilla or the Spicy Kung Pao Noodles, With the Loaded Potato I use the proper amount of water OTOH.

    Good Luck at the Doctors

I survived today’s endoscopy. Everyone was awesome except the anesthesiologist who was mean and rude! I was in tears...right before they wheeled me into the procedure room. They all thought i was worried about the test, but I explained and the lady who started the IV backed up my story because she was there. So, then I woke up crying too. Ulcers along my esophagus and possible hiatal hernia. Wednesday i get an upper GI barrium study to determine whether it is a hiatal hernia. Work sucks. I emailed my boss that i was on vacation today because anesthesia and emailed him i am overloaded....so, he sent me stuff that had been due ladt Friday that he didn’t do.
