    Good morning!

Very quiet 4th of July until 8 pm. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop! And virtually no traffic. At 8 though the people behind me were shooting up lots of fire works. Rather low but very colorful. I can see most of them from my couch. Lots of ground boomers. May May goes out to bark at times, but just as often comes in and just ignores them too. Strange dog, lol...
I know many dogs suffer from the fireworks, so that part is heartbreaking.

The mac and cheese wedges you had earlier sounded good and interesting! Why are they cheese steak sliders though...I am confused...Actually the chicken sounded quite good too. I had too much potato salad, though I made a smaller amount than normal. I have discovered as much as I love that BBQ sauce in a hash or brisket, I am not as fond of it on ribs. I guess for me anyway I like it best simmered with the boneless meat in it. Interesting...

So glad you are feeling better Val. And best over it before your travels. I hope you enjoy the vacation, too! You have certainly earned it and then some! :)

I have been watching episodes of Who Do You Think You Are? free on you tube. They are so incredibly interesting with their genealogical research and histories. I had watched some of the shows occasionally when I was working. Most of the ones from the show from Australia are rather harsh and heartbreaking though. Glad I am not of Aussie descent.

So glad I was not on that flight above and left there. That was inexcusable. It is against the law to do that here after a similar thing had happened. Common sense....short supply. Iguana will not be on my menu for a while...I do not care if it tastes like chicken, lol. Crazy, as I like alligator and crawfish- kind of the same difference... :D

Take care all! Hope the 4th was good to you all! (sorry about your pooches-Val. I seem to remember they are not fond of fireworks... ...Jan

    Hi
I'm back from walking and No cents. The Temperature out the door was 76 degrees and I am still suffering from terminal sweat. The humidity made it very uncomfortable :(
I went to the post office and picked up coffee and returned home. I will be getting more exercise later when we go to Lowes to pick up another 10 bags of mulch.

Yesterday's food was the two Fried Chicken Breasts and a salad used for two meals, and a Cobb Salad later on with Thousand Island Dressing.

    Hi Jan
After I went off to bed last night I could hear someone setting off Firecrackers :(

You might find the link I posted today regarding dogs and fireworks interesting ?

The Mac & Cheese wedges were tasty if fattening. I have no idea why they called them sliders, I can only guess that was the closest name they could think of without running out of room on the tag they use. I can also get Cheesesteak Egg Rolls from A Chinese Takeout.

Do You also put Hard Boiled Eggs into Your Potato Salad ?
So glad you are feeling better Val. And best over it before your travels. I hope you enjoy the vacation, too! You have certainly earned it and then some! :)

    Good morning!

We had about that hour of fireworks at 8 pm and that was it. Nothing after! I ate too much the last few days, so I am miserable. Ready to do better today. You ate much more sensibly, and you are rewarded by being able to move! I am not so energetic, lol... :D I do put eggs in my potato salad. I have learned to like it several ways as southern salad uses pickles and mayo. I like mine best, and I do not like everyone's, lol. I have made it with sweet potatoes too, and it is tasty!

I need to transplant a plant today, and clean house. I am still so thankful to be at home with not much happening. Even May May is snoozy. I played some ball with her the last 2 days. It does not seem to bother the leg, so I guess we are good.

Some interesting links above. The fact that the Korean was working a 100 hr/ wk was heartbreaking. Even worse that the remedy would be to go into a prison like cell to vacation. I get the concept, but the solution was almost as bad as the problem. Oh my...

Loved the lady who had the dog hospice. She is courageous, as that is a lot of funerals, though. Actually, the dog treats with the weed sounded pretty good, though I was chuckling at first. Wonder how many owners were eating them too.

Hi. Our 4th of July started with a thunderstorm and my doggos were beside themselves! So I tried something new (to me), and gave them melatonin. It was a miracle! Oscar (who panicks most) was sleeping during fireworks. Duke and Lucy were awake but not crying...they just laid at my side. Spike is never bothered, so no melatonin for him. They weren’t groggy, just relaxed. They still followed me to the restroom and kitchen (which they always do...not related to fireworks). I have one friend that highly recommends the cbd biscuits for her doggo. With my job, that vacation in jail sounds very appealing! That’s why i love the dentist...it’s an escape from work. New sofa arrived. It’s beautiful and comfortable...so I immediately threw on blankets to cover it. Ha! Tomorrow the girls arrive and Saturday at 4 am, we hit the road.

    Hi
I'm back from walking and One Thin Dime found one block from the house. The Temperature out the door was 81 degrees and I was sweating heavily. The humidity made it very uncomfortable :(

As I was headed out the door I could see lightning in the distance and hear the grumbling of the thunder. Then as I was 2 blocks from home some light rain started falling.

I have been holding off on the Lawn mowing until the heat wave breaks. There is a cold front moving in and Today is out, rain in the forecast and at Noon Lunch with friends at the Chinese Buffet, I just need to be selective with what I eat. Wish me Luck

    Hi Jan
We also do put Celery and Diced Onions as well as shredded Carrots depending on what is available. usually no Diced Gherkins or Sweet Relish, definitely no Mustard.
I also like the Potatoes cubed not to large. I am sure we all make the Potato Salad to our personal taste

I did not think of it as being that sensible, OTOH I think it worked according to the Belt on my walking shorts.

100 hours a week is 17+ hours of work a day with a seven day work week, Yuck :(

I could not handle all those funerals.

No Parade on the Fourth. Memorial Day but not the Fourth, I'm not sure why.

If it works that well for Thunder and Fireworks I could see them being very popular.

    I also noticed these:

    Hi Jan
I did not do as well as I hoped. Some of what I ate were Beef Broccoli, Chicken Broccoli letting the sauce drain off. Chicken in several forms including wings and something called Sweet Rib Tails that were tasty OTOH ?
I did stay clear of most of the Carb laden dishes until the end where I had some cake and ice cream :(

I suspect that most people have AC even if they do not run it until the weather turns beastly.

I take melatonin a 1/2 hour before I head off to bed too, it seems to help at night.

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/democrats-blast-booming-jobs-report-trump-worker-agenda-reckless

Dems blast booming jobs report, Trump worker agenda, ‘reckless’
Democrats saw nothing positive in the new June jobs report that highlighted 213,000 new jobs added.

Instead, the Democratic Party issued a statement criticizing President Trump’s jobs agenda as “reckless.”

How can it be bad to add high numbers of jobs.

The first of the pics is from Petrified Forest AZ. The second (sitting) is down in the Carlsbad Caverns NM. And the third was in the hotel pool in Whits City NM (right next to Carlsbad Caverns). Today we’re going on a tour a Northern Arizona University. Then to the Grand Canyon...I’m glad to have a short drive today (only 2 hours)!!! I will say that I am sleeping very soundly!

    Good morning all!

I hope you enjoyed your break from the humidity, Roger! Sounds like it is fixing to be over too soon! Now you have got me wanting prime rib and onion rings, lol!

Really interesting stories! I agree, everything done is attacked for political party reasons, not always reality. The rich do seem to be getting richer, and I wish gas prices were lower, lol! Not always the fault of the president though!

Val, what are you paying for gas since you are traveling in your region? We seem high, but we were still lower than Georgia and SC.

I have trouble keeping up with the older people in my group, lol! ;)

Great pictures, Val! The girls look like they are having a good time! - It is so great to break that routine!! <3

Headed for humor! :# Have a good one! ...Jan

I forgot to mention the one deer I saw eating the Grade School playground grass yesterday, I was reminded of that when I saw two of them doing the same thing today. I guess they like the taste and openness of the grassy area.

    Hi Val
You are covering some ground. It has been many, many years since I saw the Petrified forest or the Grand canyon. More recently I did see Carlsbad Caverns and I was wondering if that was the location of that photo.

    Have a Great Vacation

    Hi Jan
It's Your fault that I want a Roast Prime Rib since You mentioned "Jenny took me out for my birthday. She had prime rib."

Once the President announced his pick for the Supreme Court what I suspect were prepared in advance press releases knocking the choice were in the news very quickly last night. I though that the person chosen said good thing at the press conference, OTOH what do I know.

My suspicion is that in the grand scheme of life none of it make much difference for me.

I seeing gas prices in the $2.70+ to over $3 depending on the station FWIW.

    Have a Good Day

    Good morning!

Glad the first part of your walk went well. The mornings and evenings here are awful with the humidity and warmth just staggering. The heat of the day is actually nicer as it burns off some of the humidity! The mosquitoes are bad enough to carry off small dogs and rather numerous. The flies are so bad too I ordered my fly paper stick ups for my two doors for the inside. Gross, but necessary. They come in a day or so,but not soon enough. I need to remember to order them in June! Sounds peaceful seeing the deer. I did take may May for a game of catch so she is entirely pooped out and we are all blessedly peaceful!

I did not get to my 7 am small group. I forgot to take my melatonin last nite, and took my meds later than I wanted. I was up till after 3 am, so no way I was getting up at 6:30. :s I did get up at 8 am to get to my Dr appt. even though I had only about 4 hours of sleep. So I took a nap this afternoon while trying to watch a movie. Now if I can sleep tonite! I need to be in bed a little earlier! LOL!

I am taking my car in the morning to have my repair work done. I should get it back on Friday. My daughter invited me to breakfast at Shoney's after we drop it off. For her diet she will do well as she plans egg, bacon, sausage and cheese and no carbs from the buffet. The biscuits and the french toast on the buffet will do me in as I am of the little will power persuasion. I can skip the eggs and pancakes though, no temptation. The fried potatoes always look better than they taste. I will keep that in mind. I did well today though. And I will do well on Thursday being house bound with my healthier foods! :#

I kept wondering how some of these these young people pay their phone bills that run 100 dollars or much more a month. I get it now, the parents are paying it...Broke up Ma Bell to cater to corporate greed. I remember paying 10 to 15 dollars a month or less even with long distance...

Sounds like you are paying our gas prices we had at the beginning of summer. We hover around three/gallon more or less.

Have a great day! How is your garden doing? Jan

    Yuck, $4.50 a gallon

It is hard for me to remember being a kid these days. The ones on the TV news seem to be so passionate about causes.
