    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 41 degrees and the walking was OK considering that there is a brisk breeze blowing making it feel colder than yesterday IMO.
Around 11PM I heard rain hitting the window AC so things were nicely soggy :( outside this morning with a brisk breeze that is doing a good job drying things up.

I finally did my Laundry yesterday, Washed, Dried, and folded. Still to be done is put away mostly in the dresser drawers. I also weeded out two socks that had holes worn in the heels. That seems to be where they wear out anymore. I do have plenty of them washed and more unopened in the sock drawer too so no worries.

I did have some temptation type items yesterday that my brother brought back from a meeting. Those would have Been Sausage & Peppers, I took some of the Sausage and fished out the Sauteed Onions to go with them passing on the Bell Peppers. I also had some Lemon Chicken too. To compensate I skipped Dinner  That seems to have worked as the scale showed that I was down from yesterday.

    Good morning!!

Interesting articles. I am sure we need some common sense laws, but then everyone would be in court defining common sense and personal rights. Life has become more difficult as time goes by!!

I just never know what all I need for income tax.. my bad. I start enthusiastically,,, then get bogged down by arranging everything..and the waiting, then procrastinating. Since I have these mutual funds, someone else does the taxes..I wish I could just re arrange my money but they say it seems to cause major hassles, legally. Not sure that it is true. I would have rather paid my taxes when working than on a fixed income. So much for that advice..I think that it is pretty standard, too. I know enough to worry..not enough to help, lol.. :|
    Hi Jan
If the politicians were to start passing common sense laws I would wonder who is imitating them and what did they do with the real ones

It sort of sounds as if You would get hit with penalties rearranging the mutual funds. At least You have them
I am going out for lunch two days in a row...One is kind of keto friendly, the other is doable but my ordering not the best tasting sides..those are not keto friendly. Weight is up a little!! That darn garlic salt!! But I want to use it up and then replace it with more healthy option..I do go thru it quickly.

AS I get older, feeling bad seems worse no matter what it is. I rarely get colds or flu or sick...but make that up by allergies here and chronic pain from arthritis and nerve pain. That seems to get worse. And a pain, (excuse the pun!), because it is all the time, just different degrees. If I can, I want to start some Tai Chi, but I am either energized for like two hours, then just dead on my feet..or Butt, lol!! Some is age and weight, but some is 3 B/P meds 3x a day. Need them though...for now. :|

Money drop is not kind to you!!! You deserve better, lol!! Especially as you walk regularly and well!! :D ...Jan
A keto Diet can be hard when eating out, So many of the foods are tasty and hi carb and high calorie.
I gave up worrying about Salt (Sodium) and use it to taste anymore, The way I look at it whatever water weight it causes will level out fairly quickly and then I can see the true gain or loss of weight. What could You replace it with that is more healthy and as tasty ?

It took a while to get back down to the weight the scale showed on December 24th but I made it yesterday, That would be from the Christmas Eve foods, Christmas Day Feast, Likewise for New Years Eve and New Years Day Feast

I suspect that You might be able to reduce the Meds from losing weight, I could also be wrong. I would blame the Garlic Salt as more of problem with BP then weight.

Pains are a fact of life, they tell us we are alive
I have been taking a small Aspirin daily, they were free with a coupon and every other day or so depending on Knee pain a OTC pain killer before heading out.

Wish me luck, sooner or later I will find money
    Roger

    Congratulations on this one too:

Worked late last night. Today was hectic. The puppies got the battery case off the swiffer wetjet. I found 2 if 4 batteries. Then got one out of alvins mouth! And could not find the 4th battery! So i took the pups yo vet for xray...no battery found there either. Ive moved all the furniture and vacuumed around and under all furniture...no battery found. Then the rest of my day was at the doctor. I have so much work to do but im so tired.
    Hi Val
Are they rechargeable or disposable batteries, either way The Xrays were needed just in case.

I suspect that if Your luck runs like mine You find that fourth battery soon after You stop looking. Do they make a dog repellent to prevent things like happening again ?

I had a hard time learning to let loose of things from work when I got home, Life became better after that happened.

I hope the Doctor Visit was helpful

    good morning!

Went to lunch and did pretty well. We will see when I weigh next, I guess. Roger, you did really well to take off your weight from the holidays!! That is an achievement! Congratulations!! :)

I will just buy garlic, I guess in oil so I won't have that added salt. Good for keto and I can use that salt substitute for my potassium, which tends to be a little low daily. You are right..it should help the blood pressure.

I take extra strength Tylenol for my knees. I am not sure it helps like aspirin would, but not supposed to take aspirin due to B/P. Have you ever taken anything else for arthritis?

Loved the article on Hawaii!! Interesting!!

Val, glad the pups did not get the batteries! That must have been frightening! Hope the elusive one causes no trouble! Hope you get rest!!

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 33 degrees and the walking was OK.
There was a light snow falling as I went out the door, it appears to have ended by the time I returned home and it was enough to whiten the streets and not enough to cause traction issues while walking.
With the small raise in the amount of SSI it works out to be $9.93 a month more than last year. I have not decided what to do with that huge sum :)

    Hi Jan
I really wish I had not had to lose the Holiday weight, however it is what it is

Finely diced garlic in oil or the whole cloves, I have seen both on the shelf in the Grocery Store.

I'm somewhat afraid of all NSAIDs TBH. After overusing them in the past and having health problems as a result. I now have a new respect for and follow the warnings on the bottle.

I suspect Vals main worry is that the Pups will find the battery before she does.

    I Noticed this

    Good morning!

The snowfall you had sounds like it would be pretty. I am glad it was not slippery and walking was good!! We are rather brisk outside at 20 degrees tonite...I put my nose out once in the sun today to play ball with May. It was 50 with a slight breeze. She got the ball about 5 times then took to investigations so I went in, lol! :D

Sounds like New Yorkers will be paying for the illegals insurance. I am thinking the city does not have an extra 100,000 dollars just laying around. I understand the anger, Our armed services need money, us upper poor or really lower middle class could use some relief, as well as seniors...and we are giving away health care. We should be making immigration faster for those eligible and cutting the red tape, and make people become legal if they want to stay. Just IMO.

I worry about NSAIDS too and take as little as possible. But sometimes you have to take something. I have done a little better watching what I eat. eating home is much easier. I had to cancel a few things this week. I was just hurting and had trouble walking. I do love my quiet days at home! :)

Income tax is trickling in, Maybe I need to start my figuring early, lol...While I have a desire.

    Hi Jan
20 degrees is cold for anybody, stay warm.

Calling 300,000 undocumented New Yorkers that will be getting free health care is wrong.
That was followed up the next day with this one
    https://www1.nyc.gov/office-of-the-mayor/news/019-19/mayor-de-blasio-proposes-making-city-first-nation-mandate-paid-personal-time
NEW YORK––Mayor Bill de Blasio today proposed that New York City become the first city in the nation to mandate Paid Personal Time for workers. More than 500,000 full- and part-time employees in New York City currently have no paid time off. The Mayor will pursue local legislation that would require private employers with five or more employees to offer 10 annual days of Paid Personal Time, allowing employees to take paid time off for any purpose, including vacation, religious observances, bereavement and time with family. The legislation would guarantee this time for approximately 3.4 million New Yorkers.
Who gets to pay for all these giveaways, Taxpayers directly or indirectly. If the Employers a required to give to days pay for no work I see no way that prices will not need to rise.

I tend to do best with staying on track when I eat at home and when I do not have enough money to eat out or have temptations delivered :(

I do not know what to do with that huge $9.93 a week extra from SSI, Whee I'm rich

I thought that the Chicken Tenders was interesting so I used it

Here in NJ we are used to being the butt of humor. TV shows like the Sopranos and Jersey Shore did not help.

I did see this so Congratulations

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and the first money of the new year was found, That would be one whole penny. The Temperature out the door was 17 degrees and the walking was OK due to the absence of any wind.

The forecast keeps changing. Friday the forecast from two different TV stations indicated and inch of more and the other a trace or complete miss for my area, Which is it, Likely a third forecast would be different too. All the Computer models and fancy weather satellites and that is the best they can come up with a forecast arrival 30 hours in the future :(

    Hi Jan
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has done that. The old coffee maker, what a mess I made that way.
This newer one has a shut off so the water does not flow without the basket, However when You put the basket in with no filter the coffee is a bit gritty  and If You put the filter and no coffee the result is only fit to brew tea or instant coffee

I would not call 1:59AM early  I am heading for the bed around 10PM and usually turn the TV off after the 10 o clock weather report. The TV being the light source after the room lights are off so I can find the bed without tripping over my feet

I was just talking to my brother and the Local Cable News channel is now showing the snow line further south than yesterday and we may miss the snow entirely. That would be due to the towns, county and state having brined the roads in anticipation of snow. The It rained because I washed the car syndrome

I did see rain for Alabama, Better than Freezing rain, sleet or snow.

Congratulations, I saw this, You are doing good.

Hi. Alvin got adopted and is in his way home. Trixie’s family is picking her up tomorrow morning. And Ethel has a meet & greet tomorrow morning. The guy sounds awesome and I expect that will go through. So it’s highly probable I’ll be puppy-less tomorrow afternoon. Hurray and tears. I had been heavily considering whether it was time for Oscar to go to heaven. It is not. He’s having anxiety about being blind and snapping or growling when he’s frightened. He snapped at a pup but dropped him at my command...no harm done. He growls at me in low light but stops immediately when i talk to him. He got a cortisone shot and more pain meds. Life will be more calm without the puppies. Aside from that stress, ive been working 50-70 hours plus 20 hours volunteering w puppies. Work is going through yet another reorganization. Always stressful. Plus I’m really upset about my weight.

    Good Morning,

Busy day with shopping and setting up communion. I was in the mood to shop, but carry it in, not so much! :D

We have had a gentle rain in the evening with a couple downpours later. Should pass quickly though! I never realized N.J. had so many differing weather systems, for lack of a better word.

The article on the magnetic pole was interesting. Liked the cheesecake recipe also. It looked awfully good tall like that and the way the crust went up the sides. I have a taste for cheesecake now, lol!!

Happy about the puppies Val. Sounds like they went to good homes. I am sorry about Oscar. It is hard when they get old and have to adapt. You really do not know either until you live with them all the time. No one can tell you, you have to trust your instincts. I know there are some tricks to use for blind dogs. I just do not know them.
I wonder if you could put bells on the other dogs so he hears them coming, like they do with birds and cats.. Bless his heart! I am sure being tired makes it hard to feel positive or want to diet at times. Stress is no joke. My daughter said there is a keto for vegetarians. I was not sure if you did eggs or not. This keto try has been the best help I have had in a long time. It does cut cravings and to me anxiety eating. I may need to cycle it a little, but I am still impressed with it. The fat is satisfying and I feel good diet wise. Hope things quiet and slow down for you some!!

Take care all. Stay warm and dry!! ...Jan

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 30 degrees and the walking is OK. The snow in the forecast for my area is either not coming or is delayed, the forecast showed it overspreading my area overnight before the time I would be out the door. So far so good, Since I have not seen any weather reports today I do not know if further South which was forecast to be hit harder is getting any snow.

P.S. I just looked out the window and sometime in the last half hour the snow has started falling :(

Were You thinking about keeping one of the puppies to be a replacement ? It actually sounds as if Oscar is only partially blind from what You say ? Nothing treatable such as cataracts ?

Calm is good, Now if work would cooperate with that as a goal. How many reorganizations does that make recently. I hope the adoptions mean more free time to relax.

The Weight will go away, Stress is the enemy of weight loss and a friend of weight gain :(

    Good Luck

Stay warm and dry!! ...Jan
    Hi Jan
Been there done that with shopping, I have been known to leave groceries in the trunk if they are not perishable for another day.

Here in NJ, We say, "Don't like the weather wait it will change"

The Cheesecake did look good and since it is supposed to be a Keto recipe I passed it on here. I love a creamy cheesecake

Let's be honest, it isn't just Dogs that get old and have trouble adapting.

I think it depends one what type of Vegetarian they are, as I understand it some will use dairy or eggs or both, I think it is Vegans that are the strictest that way.

Fat in the diet helps in cold weather too, That could be why it is satisfying, I do not know.

    Have a Nice Day

Ive decided to try keto...and eat meat (except pork). I feel so full after 1/2 a hamburger with guacamole and turkey bacon. Oh mercy it tasted heavenly too! And im stuffed. I bought frizen Atkins meals for shen I’m in s pinch, but pre-pard burgers and turkey bacon and boiled eggs. I’m hoping that this can help me get off sugar.
We desperately wanted to keep one of these pups sonit is with mixed feelings that they are getting new homes.

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 24 degrees and the walking was OK. While out walking I did see fairly close up 2 female deer.
Yesterday's Snow was a non event in my area and ended before 9 AM. The roads had be brined and the brined area stayed snow free. According to the weather reports Sunday evening south NJ had a lot more snow.

    Hi Val
I did a version of the Keto years ago in the late 80s or early 90s, Actually the Atkins Diet of the day.
It did work and Jan is having success. The Trick to all of these is staying 100% long enough for the cravings to go away. It is hard to be Keto and be meat free.

I have had Turkey Bacon when the Whole Foods near me had a Hot Breakfast bar that is now gone. TBH it did not taste that much like bacon. It was OK since I accept that something might not taste like it is named as long as it is Tasty.

Mixed feelings, OTOH how would that work with Your current dog(s). I'm sure that when the time is right a nice puppy will come along.

    Good morning!!

Crazy morning and tough getting anything done. I have made phone calls and received phone calls. Something is planned every day this week until next Monday. How crazy!!

Long day at church with our small group meet, but fun. I wish I had been sleepy enough to take an afternoon nap. i was not, but fell asleep around 7 pm for like an hour an a half. Small wonder I do not get to bed earlier, but it sure is some good sleeping, lol.. :#

The sign posts are funny- though not if you are replacing them. Probably been happening since driving began. I am not hip enough or interested enough to know the 420. Probably the blank sign works best, for what little help it would be!! I like some veggie type burgers.. those looked good.

Val, hope it works out for the keto. I stay around 20- 25 G. for carbs. Nice to be in your calorie range, but if you are hungry at first, do not worry about being over the calories somewhat. Just eat those keto foods!! Magnesium supplement helps with any cramps...no one gets enough in America anyway, lol...It is so rough to get attached to a baby. Hope Oscar is doing better!!

ROGER, I forgot to CONGRATULATE you on finding the penny the other day, I think. Truly a MIRACLE!!! :)

Chilly and breezy here. From 60 degrees to 40 something for the day. Expect that arctic blast in the end of Jan. at some point!! :s

Have a good one all!! ...Jan

Roger-id love to try that Impossible Burger. Even though I’m loving the taste, i do feel guilty eating a cow. I like cows.
Saw my regular MD yesterday and started on blood pressure medicine. I know you’re not supposed to feel what your BP is, but I feel more relaxed. Psych. 😁
The lady in charge of that multi-year project I’ve been on (going live today) wrote a nice email to both my bosses about my contribution to the project.
I’m supposed to go to Virginia to meet my bosses and colleagues in a few weeks but I’m so ashamed of my weight. Most of them are already so mean. Of course the ones who like me won’t care, but it would give more ammunition to the haters. I can use the excuse of Emily being in school...that’s worked for 9 years!

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 19 degrees and the walking was OK. I did a mail run and dropped 7 items into the slot inside the lobby as we do not use the Box outside the the post office for obvious reasons, Obvious to us anyway.

Tough is likely a understatement, Don't wear Yourself out.

Power Nap is what my Brother calls something like that.

I ran across this in another message thread, You might find it helpful ?

If I was the people responsible for maintaining the signs I would be aggravated to say the least.
I did not know what the 420 referred to either so...
I had not thought about the use of the mileposts for emergencies. Around here they also put them with tenth markers such as Mile 20.2 using smaller signs.

Those Veggie Burgers looks like the real thing. A quick Google search here
    https://impossiblefoods.com/locations/
Shows three locations in Birmingham Alabama for example and 7 around Fort Worth Texas as well as a bunch of locations around me, some of which are White Castles

Last Year I found $4.23 an average of more than a penny a day, I must have done good in the first half of the year

Those temperatures are still better than we are having currently with the below normal temperatures.

    I saw this, Congratulations

    Hi Val
You could try using the link I posted in the reply to Jan, It would not seem impossible to find them in Your area.

Placebo effect maybe ? Whatever the reason, enjoy the relaxation.

I can't believe it took years for a project to be ready to go live. For many years I refused to let my weight bother me, It is nice being lighter, I hate to think what effect my old weight would have on my mobility these days.

    Have a Nice Day
