I have cataracts too. Small enough currently to not be much of an issue. My mom (diabetic) had to have cataract surgery when in her late 60s. If I’m going to need it, I think I’d rather have the surgery while i have insurance...but they don’t cover it until the cataracts ste severe. Lovely. They have replacement lenses that can focus near and far...so that’s interesting. Currently, mine only cause halos when night driving. Oscar, my 11yo 105 lbs mastiff/lab, has a growth on his inner eyelid...seeing vet Saturday. I’m back to feeling like i have a cold but also nausea...weird that my “illness” seems to shift.

    More Humor again

    Hi
I was out walking again this Morning. The temperature this morning was 32 on the porch and 36 on the cable channel. It was a bit of frost on the cars while I was walking.

I had a Fox run across my path while I was out and I did see several Joggers :)

I love the four dogs chasing away the robber! The Space Needle was built for a worlds fair. The entire fair grounds are permanent buildings with social activities...there’s the children’s museum and many restaurants...I don’t remember everything else they had. I mostly took my kid to the museum and to have lunch at the Thai restaurant. Very well populated, well kept/clean. Definitely a gathering place. There are many bars and dance clubs too.

    Hi Val
I went to the World's Fair in New York City when I was a teenager, It was great. The only thing they seemed to save was the Unisphere.
    Link here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unisphere

For Contrast some years later after Montreal's Expo 67 officially closed I was able to go there and most of it was still open and a going concern.

Seattle sounds as if it was a great place.

    Good morning!

Val, that is a wonderful picture of Em! Seattle must have been a fun place to live!

Roger, it is cold in your neck of the woods. I freeze here in the 40's! lol! Everyone I know is sick here with colds or coughs. It can be 70+ in the day, but 40 at night, or less with a cold front. Such a degree difference in too short a time!

Stories are just weird, some of them. I can't believe they are not charging that 11 yr old girl. She needs to be and she needs a psych exam. She is a headline again in the next few years, and not in a good way.. The dog story felt staged to me...I must be the world's worst cynic. I am glad the dogs got the glory, but my gut felt it was not real...I would love to know if these guys got caught and sentenced. It would be more credible to me... I'm awful... :|
    Hi Jan
It will get colder sadly :(
If I said my brother finds weird stories and forwards links to them to me and I reuse the best of them...

I tend to agree with You guess about the 11 year old.
They seem to have caught the Serial killer in Tampa.
    Link Here if interested:
    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/11/29/tampa-police-arrest-possible-serial-killer-in-seminole-heights.html
According to the news I saw yesterday evening, He had a sealed record which would indicate to me that the You could be right regarding the 11 year old.

I took that at face value, Why would they stage it?
Eye exam went well. Cataracts haven't grown too much...and my prescription is about the same. No evidence of any damage from pre-diabetic condition. I had a heck of a time driving home with my eyes dilated though. :D I looked like a blind person driving and pumping gas for the car. I finally had to take off the protective film glasses they give you, and use my prescription sun glasses. They are dark and more wrap around. That experience was sure a downhill slide from last year, I guess due to the cataracts, small as they are... B)

The pizza was kind of before microwave or frozen pizza became so prevalent. The store sold it from a refrigerated box, in a square with sausage and cheese. The crust was kind of thicker than traditional dough, kind of bread like, but not like french bread. It was probably about 3-4 pieces compared to today's. We would just tear a hunk off and it was pretty good cold as the sausage was more mild than when heated.. just a weird random memory. I think we did not do pizza in winter, too cold! We would buy hot chocolate to sip on the walk home. Just a cheap night out and pleasant walk... We used to take rides and look at people's houses, too when it grew dark. They were so pretty. Just things you do not see people do anymore, like watering the lawn by hand, just sitting on the porch talking or enjoying the quiet...

May May is limping rather badly, from her shoulder I think. Extra trip to the vet...Hopefully nothing serious....

Take care all! Hope you feel better, Val! ....Jan
I guess that the eye doctor has not said it is time for the operation yet. I know of two family members had cataracts removed with really good results.

I was prediabetic for years and never nosed into Diabetic territory and still ended up with some nerve damage in my feet that cause a mild numbness. Be careful.

I hated driving after being Dilated, Not good.

It still sounds Like a Sicilian Pizza to me, They are a thick bready crust, with Tomato Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese and topped if desired with all the usual Pizza toppings. Around here they are rectangular not square. I could also be wrong :)

I do not recall ever buying Hot Chocolate ready to drink anywhere, Lucky You, that sounds delicious.

I hope it is nothing serious and that at worst a Shot of anti inflammatory and maybe pills will fix the shoulder.

    Good Luck with May May

    Good morning!

Chilly here also! And incredibly damp. We had heavy fog last nite. No rain for a log time, but we are due today!

I guess that is what that pizza was! It sounds exactly the same! I do think it was more rectangular after thinking about it! It was like 53 years ago! :D

My computer seems worse than ever. Of course it does turn on and that is a plus. But it is allowing tons of pop up ads to run on this site esp. While it seems that it is not buffering, after I leave the page, things start talking or worse, rap singing and screeching from ads I do not remember even opening or going across. It sometimes blocks it for a bit, then you have constant interruptions while trying to read or type making of partial noise. Instead of buffering, the computer becomes unresponsive if I read or open longer things in facebook or those articles which have you opening "next" to get a story, or here. Aggravating!

I just seemed to think that one story of a robbery seemed strange. The guy who was with her was smiling as if it was a joke he was playing on her. Thank goodness "the voices" have stopped. At least long enough to think a minute. I spoke too soon as one commercial just popped up again, and thankfully , though not quickly enough, was squashed. Maddening!

Out with the girls tonite, though I wish I was staying home! We are going to an upscale restaurant with great food!

Take care! I will regale you my tales of two latest goof-ups of Amazon that have not made my week, and have caused HOURS of time trying to fix, tomorrow. So thankful when people do good work, or even their basic job nowadays! :D Did not happen here.....Jan

Half of you will love this, and half of you will hate it: An international team of scientists says its research strongly suggests that dogs are smarter than cats.

A paper accepted this week for publication in the journal Frontiers in Neuroanatomy reports that dogs' brains have more than twice as many cortical neurons — the cells linked to thinking, planning and complex behavior — than cats' brains do.

    Good Morning Jan
I run Firefox with the Noscript Add on, That allows me to control JavaScript and thus I can block those annoying advertisements.

for example this site has https://adservice.google.com, http://s3.amazonaws.com and s3.amazonaws.com wanting to run. The Amazon seems to be this, Amazon S3 can help you with Backup and Archive, Big Data and much more. Get started with cloud storage here.

Blocking most JavaScript items does not seem to hurt on most pages, it does break the Exercise and Home pages however so I allow them temporarily and then remove those permissions when I am done with them.

Here is a suggestion, Just hit the Mute button if You keyboard has one or turn the volume down to zero and no more voices :)

I blame social media for some of the weird things people do as they will do anything to attract viewers.

I know what You mean as I will be at the Thai Food place today and I do not see any lunch entrees that can be called low calorie or low carb.

I have always been able to get Amazon to fix anything that happened via a email. I wonder if Your problem is related to the Black Friday or Cyber Monday ?

    Good Luck at that restaurant

    Good Morning!

I want to try those toaster bags, too. Sounds kind of neat!!

It was 60 degrees this morning but felt like 40! Damp!! I am a wuss!!

My restaurant was fabulous last night! Pricey a little on a few things, but upscale and delicious!! I had a 12 oz rib eye that was perfection, grill marks and seasoning!! Cheese grits that were way yummy, and wonderful asparagus with a brushing of butter and hint of lemon. Yeast roll.. At $23.00, so not really that pricey at today's prices.

Hope your Thai was good!! Hope you were good! LOL!

Alas' no easy volume or mute on the computer, but that would have been too easy, lol! I will check on your other solutions! Thanks!

Going to a Christmas Party/Buffet with same group Sat. Everyone brings a dish, probably not a good diet affair,
lol! I know as I am bringing Mac and Cheese! And there will be like 20 desserts... :#

Interesting reads on the posts. Love the volcano story, and the boss job headline was pretty incorrect. They teach nothing in journalism/ reporting now days..? I suspected the constant barrage of electronics for youth to be detrimental...

I will come back and explain Amazon in a bit..Need to do a few things. Maybe they hired extra help and that contributed... :/ ...Take care!! Freezing Jan at 60 degrees!! LOL!

I'm Curious as to how You make the Mac and Cheese, Do You use a Bread Crumb topping ?

You may have noticed that I said not 100% accurate with the Boss gender article.

In New York City Smart Phones are definitely detrimental to Youths. What We see all the time is How the Phones are being stolen and often times in NYC they first the punch the victim then steal the phone and anything else. The crooks love robbing Kids and the Elderly, My belief is they figure that they are less likely to fight back.

Amazon Hires and trains ahead of the rush, that much I know. As a Amazon Customer I had a Post card from them where they were looking for workers this summer and I saw a Flatbed truck that did mobile advertising with a sign on the bed of the truck that they were looking for workers around the same time.

    I'd be happy with 60s :)

I saw a confused Forsythia today, It had yellow blossoms on it, I suspect that the brief warm spell had brought them out.

    Hi Val
I saw that You had posted in the humor post while I was creating today's humor :)

I'm sorry to hear that work is still doing that.

I could be wrong, however I think I have seen that on people and it was not much of anything. Hopefully I'm correct and Oscar will be OK.
This what I am thinking of
    https://www.eyehealthweb.com/xanthelasma/
A xanthelasma is a yellowish deposit of fat and cholesterol found under the skin that’s around or on the eyelids. Xanthelasmata are not harmful, nor do they cause any pain, but most people do not care for the appearance of these yellow growths around the eyes and elect to have them removed.

Nothing wrong with saving at a sale as Long as the trip doesn't cancel out the savings.

    Good Luck

    Good morning,

We will be colder in the next week! I am interested in how those toaster bags work! They would be sold thru Amazon... :s

I will try to make this short, lol. I ordered a new landline phone system from Amazon. I paid 6 dollars extra for the one day , instead of two day free delivery. (and something told me not too... :| ). However, I was getting phone calls at 6:45 AM for 3 days that week and I went to bed at like 2-2:30 am. Miserable! My current lineland has no answering system working. Come the day, Monday, my order said it was delivered at 7 pm. But no phone at my house. Waited until 10 am Tues. no phone, and tried to contact them. Of course every " help" took me in a circular direction. I spent 2 hours, 2 times trying to find either a number or contact email. Anything under the orders was not the correct button. Under lost was not what I wanted either... Dumb me working from the idea it is not lost, it is sitting a few streets over, because this has happened before. I just wanted a person. I even called the Montgomery UPS station it came from and told them what the problem was. As soon as they heard it was an Amazon package, they would not help me, but gave me a link to Amazon that did not pan out. After another 2 hours of no luck contacting Amazon, I used the package review section, put a one star, and said I wished I could say the phone was great, but I did not get it, and it was sitting on one of two other streets with the same name as my RD., but was circle or street. That got some attention, as I hoped it might as a Hail Mary. I did finally get contact.. I also got a reprimand for how I mistreated the company by misrepresenting the facts. And a copy that fraud or racial intolerance would not be tolerated and I could be sued..This was Weds. The lady was as sweet as she could be. She was hard to understand, as all their people are. But honestly I never had this much of a problem. I told her up front where the package was, but she said they would file it as lost, did I want a refund? I am like, no, just this phone I am trying to get. This haggling went on for ever, I finally gave up, told her fine, whatever you want to do. She called me again that day, to tell me they were giving me an extra free month of prime. To which I replied that's nice..but I want a phone...So 5 days later at this point she tells me to get a phone, I need to reorder... :s And Sat. morning, UPS shows up with the phone, 6 days later now. He wants me to open it, as it is soaking wet, sitting out for the last 2 days in the rain, a few streets up. Actually, though the boxes were soaked, the insides were fine, and bagged well in good plastic. Gee, it was like I said...I guess I will keep it and have them charge me the phone price, tax, but no 1 day charge. If not, I will send it back, to where the sun don't shine....

On top of that, I requested 2 little screw- in rubber foot stoppers they forgot to include in a different package for a bath step. (Sent 2, forgot 2.) This, during the week of hell from the above... I told them the product was easy to put together, I loved it, in the request. So i get a letter from the company saying they have sent me another stepper for free. Now I have 4 boxes half the size of a refrigerator to recycle, tons of plastic wrap to recycle and a perfectly good stepper to throw out because it will not have stoppers on 2 feet yet again, and I get the added joy of hauling it a half acre to the trash. If I am buying something a handicapped person needs, why all this makes perfect sense! I really agree with the Dumbing of America article/book that was put out.....Frankly quite mad at Amazon for the moment...

And I have finally replaced the pump in my toilet. Everything seemed to go easily. However, when I tried to attach the water connection to the bottom of the pump, the part sticking out of the tank, it will not screw in. It is not stripped. Even though it is universal, in fact, the same company and packaging, the new pump, that I swear is actually looking the same, must be 1/16th or 2 /16ths of an inch smaller, causing the water source to just fall off and not connect....Seriously?

I may go back to bed and stay there......

Val, I hope Oscar is better! Simple but delicate procedure...

Frustrating and very sad post on the veteran dogs. So wrong....

Could you post the humor link again Roger? Somehow it is gone from by bookmarked place, and I am having trouble finding it. I know it is here too, but I am just not hitting the right page.. :'(

Good news is I did find the volume control on the toolbar..Duh..Problem solved! Thanks! :) Jan

Jan- sorry to hear about your frustrating Amazon experience! Roger-I love pad see ew!!! I keep telling Em to not have her phone out in public to reduce theft-attraction, but so far, she’s not believing me (does it when I tell her, but doesn’t do it on her own). Oscar needs surgery to remove the growth, so doing that on Tuesday. While he’s under, i asked that they do his dental cleaning. Then the vet noticed one tooth looks questionable and might need removal. When we got home, he and I went for a walk around the block! We’re both out of shape but we made it. My new dishwasher got installed Friday...prompt courteous installers. Exciting to have to running for its maiden voyage. Very quiet!!! I was supposed to work but I’m just wiped out. Three documents due Sunday noon.

Some more humor today once again

    Hi
I went out walking once again this Morning. The temperature this morning was 39 on the porch and 41 on the cable channel.
It is a gray day outside currently, OTOH that did keep me from having to walk with the Sun in my eyes.

    Hi Jan
That person does not sound as if she wanted to help TBH.
FWIW I think You could have used the order number that should have been in the confirmation email regarding the order.
    Reprimand not deserved IMO.

You can take this as You like, I would have sent the Soaked items back since that might cause a problem if You have to go for warranty in the future.
Something like that where they say free, I always print the email and save a copy just in case.

Is there no place that might take it as a donation ? I have a suspicion that they could come up with substitute stoppers.

Thanks! :) Jan

I thought it was wrong, especially that people that had worked with the dogs wanted them. It isn't as if they were trained as attack dogs.

You have a Pump in Your Toilet ?
What occurs to me is that maybe the connector that screws on from the water source is stripped or and I have seen this one happen cracked so it does not stay tight.

Hi Val
As I may have mentioned I had forgotten how tasty it was :)

In New York City they have been riding by on bicycles and snatching peoples phones as they walk along using them.
Maybe You can show here this.

NEW YORK -- Police in Midtown Manhattan were searching Saturday for two bike-riding thieves who have been stealing cellphones right out of people’s hands.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspects, who are believed to be behind at least eight thefts in the past month,

    More humor once again

    Hi
I went out walking once again this Morning. The temperature this morning was 28 on the porch and 33 on the cable channel. The frost was fairly heavy and it felt colder than what the Thermometer said it was. I did see the Super-moon when I started out walking through a very light cloud cover.
