    Hi Roger and Val
I am not sure if you both remember me or not as I have not been around for a long time. I am back as I want to get off these last 40 pounds. I thought MFP, biking and going to Curves would help. I finally lost over 270 pounds and had so much excess skin that over the last 1 1/2 I have had 3 surgeries to remove the skin and a hernia repair. I still have at least 2 more surgeries to go but am still recovering from this last one which took 10 pounds of skin off my tummy. I wanted to share with you both the before weight loss and this lastest Christmas after tummy surgery and my first bike ride after 4 weeks of recovery pictures.

It’s so good to hear from you!!!! And I’m so happy that you’re doing so well. Congratulations. Keep up the good work.

I had lost 80 pounds and then had a year plus of uncontrolled pain and immobility...and now I’ve regained all 80 pounds so feeling glum.

Working 60 hr weeks...but my best buddy surpassed 100 hours this week.

I bought Em a couple mini bundt cakes, a full-length mirror, and a phone case, and I told her I’d share my car with her!
    Hi Val
With a year plus of uncontrolled pain and immobility I am not surprised You regained weight. I Would have too.

I would hate a 60 hour week, it was bad enough on my last job with Five 9 hour days and a 8 hour day on Saturday. The driving Job I had before I built up enough seniority that I could Bid on the shorter days. Less money in the pocket as it was a hourly pay, However I wanted time to do things too.

I'm sure She Appreciated the gifts especially the Car sharing. Here is a image to go with the one gift :)

    Good morning!!

It stopped raining and part way through the day turned colder. But I saw sunshine for a few hours and a blue sky with cool looking gray and white clouds here and there...It was like a miracle!! :)

Jenny and I went out for Indian food so I conscientiously had a non keto day. I was over my calories by about 450 calories and had about 70 gram carbs instead of my 20 grams. It was so good!! We will see how this sets me back however in time and cravings. I do use the ketone strips. Accurate enough...And checking them in the A.M. Useful info to see what my body does for a few days, but hoping I will not regret it for a few days...and lbs...

Saw Mary Poppins Returns. Bloody good!!! Fabulous score and choreography!! Respectfully done IMO.

Sounds like Em had a wonderful birthday!! <3

Chilly sounding in Jersey!! Stay warm!!! ...Jan
    Hi Jan
Not real good weather here either, At least You saw the sun for a little while.

I hope You survive the Indian Food and do not regret it.

Did You happen to notice in a scene where she is floating down from the sky at an angle what I saw in the clip shown on TV here, That You can see a wire running from upper left to lower Right ?

The day has a raw feel and has not warmed up very much from 4 Am to Now at 11:21 AM :(

    Have a Good Day

We had beautiful 70 degree weather today. We took the pups in a stroller to “the Pearl” which is a popular outdoor area with shops and restaurants. Maggie is in the middle and Tina on the right. No adoptions but we met a lot of people. The adult dog is Trudy; she lives with Maggie and her 7 dogs.

    Hi Val
That is nice sounding weather. Is the Pearl to far for the Pups to walk. Oh well, more adoptions will inevitably follow.

I'm sure I could not handle a house with 7 dogs, They would likely be to noisy for me as I like peace and quiet.

    Good morning all,

Val, So glad you might get some relief from suffering with your hernia. You will do fine with the surgery I am sure. Though of course I hate you may need it!! Tell Em Happy Birthday... 16 is so special! You have raised an intelligent and beautiful daughter!! <3

We have deli turkey breasts they do for slicing. I guess they would sell a whole one. But I do not recall having the kind you have available. We are a strange place!!

I am so sick of rain!!!!! :s

I took my tree down also,,Just packed as is in the closet! :D

No gain from my real wheat flour cookie, Yay!!

I remember you ssflbelle!! I had horses on my picture back then!! What stunning pictures and what a great accomplishment!! I am so proud of you!! The surgeries sound kind of rough, But such wonderful news!! You give hope to us all!! I am thrilled for you!!

Stay dry and safe all!! ...Jan :)

Hi, Jan So sorry I did not include you in my earlier post. I did not realize you were still posting here. Yes, I do remember you and the horses and thank you for the compliments. The only surgery that was rough was the Brachioplasty in March 2018. I was sent home 1 hour after waking up. Was home 10 minutes and had to be rushed back by ambulance as I had blood pouring out of my left arm. I had developed a hematoma. I believe the Dr forgot to close off a blood vessel. Had to have a second surgery but had to wait over 8 hours as there was no operating room available at the time. My blood count got down to 8 and they told me at a 7 I would have needed a transfusion. I was very lucky as it never got down to 7. I was in the hospital for 4 days and went home with a drain in my arm. Spent 8 weeks recovering and trying to get my strength back so I could go back to work. However, that did not stop me from having this most recent hernia repair and Panni on Dec 5th 2018. Only spent 1 day in the hospital and was sitting up and walking with a walker within 12 hours of the finished surgeries. I had 2 drains this time for 12 days. Once those drains were gone it was a much easier recovery and I feel ready to go back to work now. However, the Dr wants me to gain some strength back over the next 2 weeks. He suggested I go back on 18th or 22nd as I only work on Fridays and Tuesdays.
We took our tree, and all the inside and outside decorations down on Thursday and Friday. We started to put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving as they had to be up before the surgery. I have lots of readings to become up to date with what the three of you are doing. Is there anyone else posting in this group or is it small? Sometimes the smaller the more personal it can be. I hope to become more involved in this group and post more often if that is ok with you all.

    Hi
Of Course I remember You, I do not remember if You were also on the old long gone NS forums OTOH.

I know that it is very hard to lose weight over a long period of time, Sometimes I backslide and have to get back into the right frame of mind. I congratulate You on Your accomplishment, It isn't easy, You have done so well.

Curves, I had one of those in the mall where I worked my last job. We did not even know they were open for a while since they had the windows and the glass in the door covered over.

Three Surgeries Plus a hernia repair, Wow. That must have been tough even if needed.
I had thought about Tummy surgery for excess skin too, I just have this fear of hospitals and doctors that I do not know.

You Look great in the latest picture. Just from curiosity, is that the same bike I recall You having before ?

Carry On, I know complete success is just around the corner.
    Don't be a stranger.
BTW the humor I mention is here, Mostly humorous images.

    Have a Nice Day

Yes, I have been around since 2012 thus the date on my name. Started on NS and came here when everyone else did. Was in Gary's group for a long time. Will have to check and see if anyone still posts over there. I think it was NS lose 5 a month or something like that.
I do not know how severe your loose skin issue is but I could not live with all the excess skin pulling on me down and causing such pain on my back and other parts of my body. Perhaps taking a tour of the hospitals and taking with the staff will help with the fear you have. I had 2 surgeries at one hospital about an hour from home. The other 2 were at a hospital 5 minutes from home. I like the one further from home better than the other one closer to home. The equipment and staff are better. The hospital I like has an A rating. The one closer to home has a C rating. My copay was more at the A rating but I am willing to pay more for the better staff and service. I had 6 pounds removed from my breasts, 10 pounds from my tummy and they forgot to weigh the arms skin but my arms are 7 inches smaller. I think I may have 2 more to go and am going to try to get them at the hospital I like further from home. I will also need revisions as 270 pounds is a lot of weight to lose and not have severe loose skin issues. They only wanted me under for about 4 hours at a time, due to my age and disability so some loose skin is still in various places. However, with compression garments, no one sees the bulges when in my clothing.
As for the bike yes it is the same. My redbird is older, rustier but she still gives me a great workout. I managed to do a 6 mile Loop the Lake for Literacy fundraiser in Jan 2017. However, with these past surgeries, I have had a lot of downtime and only managed to get to 7 miles just before this last surgery in Dec. I started biking again on Thursday and went 2.75 miles. I am sure I will build that back up again. Plus I plan to go to Curves as I mentioned earlier sometime after my Birthday which is the 24th of this month. I do hope to post more often. Thanks!

Thanks! So sorry to hear about the immobility. What caused that to happen? 60 hours week OMG how do you do it? I have forgotten is Em your dog or child? However very nice gifts to have received. Did I read you are going to have hernia repair? When is this and what type of hernia? I had a second hernia repair with this last excess skin removal. My first one was back in Jan 2016. This last one was an incarcerated hernia around my belly button so my belly button is gone. Does not bother me as it only collected dirt anyhow. Keep us posted as to when you have this surgery. Hope all goes well.

My foster Dog Trixie was adopted today...they will pick up on Friday. Only two pups left.

Hi Roger - my dogs are quiet and calm! I couldn’t tolerate noise.

Hi Amanda - Em is my daughter, just turned 16. I have 4 dogs plus 3 foster puppies (vp of Grumpy Puppy Rescue, if you’re on Facebook). I have a hiatal hernia. Last night was the worst it’s ever been—so much so that I told my kid i was considering going to the ER. I’ve known of it since October. In October my ulcer ruptured so needed repair. Then in December i was hospitalized with sepsis (contracted during the October surgery). Then i went into denial that the hernia is a problem. But, it is. I have a doctor appointment jan 31st. Who knows when the surgery will be.

In 2015 i had lost 80 pounds. I was walking/jogging 3 to 10 miles daily and loved it. I felt so good. Then about a mile from my house, a horrid woman was in her front yard with her loose Doberman. He charged at me and my leashed dog...knocked me onto my hip. There was a huge struggle. He bit my dog repeatedly. I went to my doctor at least 20 times (20 @$30 copay is $600!) over a year complaining of pain...they did nothing. During that year, I gained most of the weight back. Then i went to orthopedic doc. First guy was a jerk and said I needed back surgery. I refused. Went to a different guy who fixed it with shots and PT.

Hi Jan. Hope you’re doing well.

    Good morning all,

I was a little MIA! Friday, Jen and I did lunch and the movie. It would have been better on 2 days, but that did not work out. I stopped at the church Sat.and killed my back moving tables and chairs. I was there a while, and then still shopped for Sunday. I could barely walk Sat. and Sunday. You know I was tired to go to bed around 1200, for me. By the time church was over, and small group, I came home and played ball in the sunshine with May, and took about an hour and a half nap. I was flat exhausted. I still dozed trying to watch TV off and on from about 5 pm till about 8 pm. Finally woke up and can actually move again.

It was a pretty day here too. Chilly in the shade, but in the upper 60's..(so people can get sick some more.) Chilly at nite in the 40.s..Not Jersey cold though!!

Amanda, your surgeries are a remarkable story. I am wondering how I will do as I have to lose about 135 lbs. This keto diet may be the closest thing to getting me there, and I am trying to prepare for the long haul!! Your story is beyond encouraging!! Hope you continue to post! :)

Roger, believe it or not, I did not notice the wire in the Mary Poppins scenes..I looked!! I either missed it or perhaps in the promos it was not as cleaned up!! You know me!! I could have missed it even looking!! :#

Glad about Trixie, Val! Trudy reminds me of the RCA dog with that eye, or the dog in the Little Rascals! She is a cutie either way!!

Take care all! Enjoy the week!! ...Jan

    Hello Belle
I could be wrong but I get the impression from various news articles that the quality of health care is declining in this country, With the Government paperwork and regulations I have read where more doctors are retiring than are graduating and that many of the ones left are getting old.

It would be welcome to have You posting, The more the merrier. With the closure of the NS forums and what they replaced them with we rarely see any new faces as they would have to do moderately deep and persistent searches to find us here.

Snipped to keep more readable, That's my goal anyway.

I think I was lucky, I did lose over 200 pounds, OTOH I was lucky enough that it must have been slow enough or my body type ? that much of my skin tightened up as I lost with a couple of small areas that do not bother me enough to make me go for removal. I had thought about some sort of fat removal as there are a couple of areas that never really shrunk :( Reviews of those processes did not allay my fears that there could be issues so I did not pursue it. Not to mention I do not know if Medicare would cover it and that is the only way I could really afford it. I am also sure that any type of fat removal would lead to skin removal being needed. Since I cam handle it without surgery or doctors which is My preference that is what I shall do.

I'm with You why risk a C rated Hospital if You can get to a A Rated hospital.

Hi Jan. Hope you’re doing well.
    Hello Val
I'm sure You are happy that another Puppy was adopted. I suspect that the Quiet dogs is completely or at a minimum the training You give them.

You had no luck with the hospitals in You area, Are You in one of those managed health care plans where You have limited choices or ?

Has it been that long, 2015 ? I remember that event with the other dog.

Your experience with different doctors is one of the reasons I think that health care quality has slipped. Mom had a similar experience here in NJ so it is not just Texas. After a Fall they told her she would have to live with excruciating back pain and wear a back brace. She persisted and finally found a doctor that said I can fix that, a short back surgery with a little time in the rehab facility and Voila no more pain. What I take from that is do not just accept what they tell You, be persistent.

    Hello Jan
    Welcome Back

You need to be careful not to overdo things. If I get tired doing yard work for example I tell my brother I need to rest and come back a little later.

For You midnight is really early, for me it would be really late anymore.

Sometimes in the evening I close my eyes and just listen to the TV audio for a few minutes.

This morning out the door there was a light breeze so it felt colder than it has for many days.

Enjoy the week!! ...Jan
I saw a clip on the TV last night and they had cropped it so that the wire did not show. Maybe they fixed it in editing.

    Have a Nice Day

    Good morning,

A miracle occurred. I did get half my house cleaned up..maybe for Tuesday I can get the other half. :D

I did not do too badly today..Maybe a little high on the calories. At least I stayed keto and got things done. Yay for my team!!

My heater guy is coming in the afternoon for my heater check up. And i am looking ffor income tax things..I don't want to wait till late to file..but I do every year...go figure.

I could not believe,Val, it was 2015 when that happened with your neighbor. It just does not seem that long ago. To say time flies does not cover it at all. I remember when Jenny was very little, the days seemed to drag and never end. Now I can hardly catch my breath!!

Hope every one stays warm and dry. Not as much flu here, as there is sinus infections on a massive scale, at least at the moment. Not a joke when they say you have to have your health!! ...Jan B)

Some humor has already been posted

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and once again no money was found. The Temperature out the door was 32 degrees and the walking was OK considering. I say considering since there was a light freezing rain falling that left a pebbly effect on all the exposed surfaces that were above street level. Luckily the streets and sidewalks were not icy.
Looking out from the porch I could see one Deer standing in the street, When I stepped out it ran around the corner and joined 2 more.

    Hi Jan
It will need a miracle for me to clean the entire house in one day, Rather it becomes a drawn out process.

    Income Tax

IRS Announces Tax Season Start Date Despite Government Shutdown

My income tax is very simple and I use the free electronic filing, In contrast my brother uses and needs an accountant for his. His takes a while to receive all the proper forms and schedule an appointment. Does that mean You file for an extension or that You end up filing near the April 15th date ? My view is if there is a refund get it done as soon as possible and If You need to pay then file as late as possible without causing a penalty.

Hard to believe it was that far back here too.

I'm not sure which is worse, Sinus infection or the Flu, at least You can try and avoid or lighten the Flu with the Flu Shot.

    Have a Good Day

    Good morning!!

Interesting articles. I am sure we need some common sense laws, but then everyone would be in court defining common sense and personal rights. Life has become more difficult as time goes by!!

I just never know what all I need for income tax.. my bad. I start enthusiastically,,, then get bogged down by arranging everything..and the waiting, then procrastinating. Since I have these mutual funds, someone else does the taxes..I wish I could just re arrange my money but they say it seems to cause major hassles, legally. Not sure that it is true. I would have rather paid my taxes when working than on a fixed income. So much for that advice..I think that it is pretty standard, too. I know enough to worry..not enough to help, lol.. :|

I am going out for lunch two days in a row...One is kind of keto friendly, the other is doable but my ordering not the best tasting sides..those are not keto friendly. Weight is up a little!! That darn garlic salt!! But I want to use it up and then replace it with more healthy option..I do go thru it quickly.

AS I get older, feeling bad seems worse no matter what it is. I rarely get colds or flu or sick...but make that up by allergies here and chronic pain from arthritis and nerve pain. That seems to get worse. And a pain, (excuse the pun!), because it is all the time, just different degrees. If I can, I want to start some Tai Chi, but I am either energized for like two hours, then just dead on my feet..or Butt, lol!! Some is age and weight, but some is 3 B/P meds 3x a day. Need them though...for now. :|

Money drop is not kind to you!!! You deserve better, lol!! Especially as you walk regularly and well!! :D ...Jan

Worked late last night. Today was hectic. The puppies got the battery case off the swiffer wetjet. I found 2 if 4 batteries. Then got one out of alvins mouth! And could not find the 4th battery! So i took the pups yo vet for xray...no battery found there either. Ive moved all the furniture and vacuumed around and under all furniture...no battery found. Then the rest of my day was at the doctor. I have so much work to do but im so tired.
