13-hour day...this new role is even more crazy than the rest of my job. Jan—that is a sad and frustrating situation. Congrats on doing well with your weight! Roger—glad you beat the snow!

    Hi Val
That is too long a day since You just returned to work after being ill.

    I was lucky yesterday

    Hello!

Hope everyone is well! I agree with Roger, Val! That is a mighty long day! Take care!

I had my heart attack for the month. My electric bill came and it is the highest I ever paid. It was about 1and1/2 as much as usual. I could not believe... :o

Sorry for the cold weather up your way. Sounds like I need to be thankful I am in the south after all.

Hungry day today. It is the first I have had in a while.I did okay though. :)

Take care all! Good posts and good humor!! ...Jan

    Hi
I'm back from walking again and no cents. The temperature this morning was 19 on the porch and 25 on the cable news channel. The only good part of the temperature was that there was no windchill.

    Hi Jan
Our last gas and electric Bill was the worst I can remember too, It was over $400 :(
Ours was the worst from the gas used for heat, I am guessing You have electric heat or were using electric heaters ?

You can see how I did with my Hungry Day Thursday...
Thursday was not a good day for me with food, My brother went to the grocery store and brought a Cheddar Cheese that was on sale and a 50% off Sandwich both of which were for me. The Sandwich was Humongous ans sadly I ate the whole thing :( It was Three huge slices of Rye which had a layer of Cole Slaw, Swiss Cheese and Ham and supposedly Thousand Island Dressing between the middle bread and the top and bottom layers. Tasty too, I say supposedly Thousand Island Dressing as I did not spot it or taste it. For such a huge sandwich it was only $3.99, I should have weighed it before eating if for no other reason than curiosity. I did at least remove the middle layer of Rye bread.

Oh well, Back to 100% NS plan for me and no weighing until the water weight I know I gained has come off. Too many Carbs make me retain water worse than salt does.

I need to go over my NS order this morning and order a NS gift card from CostCo to finish paying got it with discounted money so to speak. The Alternative is Reduce some of the A La Carte items. I do add them and then extend the next order for the three months allowed :)

    Congratulations on this too,

This new boss is well known to get rid of anyone complaining about overtime. Plus I don’t want him to think of me as medically inferior...again to try to protect my employment status. Finally—-8 weeks late, my short term disability was approved so (supposedly) a check is in the mail. What a wretched system! Not everyone can float an unexpected absence of income for that long. Forgive me if I already said this, but the “benefits” employees that never responded to my emails or calls—in December they had all been told they were being laid off—to me that seems like they stopped working and punished me for their employment situation. On top of everything—-that makes me angry and ill. It’s like an ambulance arriving but refusing to perform their job. Oh-and last night, that new boss emailed me saying I am not going to have that added role. Good. Except I don’t know why.

    Hi Val
I guess as long as they pay for the overtime or are You on salary ? I was on salary rather then by the hour once, Never again!

It is hard to blame them for being Ticked off, OTOH to take it out on someone that needs their help is so wrong.

Hopefully the not having the added work is all to the good.

    Good morning!

Interesting articles, loved the sheets story! I do not feel so lax about mine now. Growing up and for a long time I changed, and most people I know, changed sheets once a week . How interesting...I wait a bit myself now, as changing sheets rate up there with cleaning toilets, lol. I still try to do that weekly... :D

I understand about the sandwich! I am craving one myself, like the hoagie kind or really good bread. How funny I am in the new weight area and my body is insisting on a big plate of spaghetti or 12 inch sub...it is like my body knows....

Well, I am not going to crab about my electric bill now. I was only $245.00. It usually runs below $180.00 though with the winter months only slightly more...Yikes!

I am having some gain due to salt, mostly. Less than a pound though. My daughter made me some stock that was the best I have ever had. It was SO good. I used it for a vegetable soup with a few little meatballs thrown in. It had some soy in it, as it can also be used for Pho and other oriental dishes. But excellent as stock for about anything!

She is bringing a fundraiser boston butt from school tonite we are splitting. And I am staying for dinner. This will be a meat portion challenge, and we will have leftovers. o:)

Val, I know it is hard for someone with your work ethic to be working with such a disorganized place. :s

I put doing the laundry of any kind up with cleaning the bathroom
I'm glad You enjoyed the articles, I try for interesting ones.

When I was delivering in NYC I used to be able to stop by Kosher Delis and get great Sandwiches and others with great Salad bars. That was one of the only good things about Manhattan, NY. I did use to enjoy going to see Broadway plays back in the 80s mostly before the pricing on them became obscene. Some of what I saw was the King & I with Yul Brynner, Godspell and more.

The sandwich was tasty, it was also large enough to feed three people easily.

Our last Gas & Electric Bill was over $400, You got off lightly in comparison.

I have decided that Salt has less of an effect on my retaining water than Carbohydrates.
Was it the stock that was salty ?
I curious, a fundraiser boston butt ? is that heated ready to go or does it have to be heated ?

I struggle, Yesterday my Brother baked a Kielbasa in a cast iron skillet and I had some, as far as I can tell I had around 170 calories of it, It was so tasty too, I could have eaten a lot more if it was not fair to do that to my brother. That is all extra calories I ate for the day :(

My NS order closed on the 8th, I hope the limited time frozen dinners make it as I would like to try them. I missed the one with the Pork, It showed discontinued by the time my last order showed up and it had been a new item that appeared after the order before that that one so it came and went in less than three months :( Those would be the

The NS "slim jim" sounds good! How much sugar is in one, as it is a sweet jerky? My stock has salt from the soy sauce added, but it give a sweet taste, not salty. It was just right, had sodium added but not salty to the taste. Sodium does me in though!

    Hi Val
I hope that being salaried works for You. I would hate a 70+ hour week too, It was bad enough working 53 hour weeks for years at my last job. That would have been five 9 hour days and a 8 hour day for Saturday and one whole day off, Sunday.

From what the Weather forecast I saw this morning before going walking said that South Jersey had already had over an inch of rain Saturday with more coming today.
There was a light rain when I left the house and as a result of that and the forecast for heavier rain I wore a complete set of rain gear and Waterproof boots.

The rain so far is not heavy and is steady OTOH and the forecast is for heavy rain later with 2+ inches for my area in the total rainfall.

The NS "Slim Jim" nutrition information shows this.
    Total Carbohydrate 2g 1%
    Dietary Fiber 0g 0%
    Sugars 1g

1 gram of sugar is minimal :)

Rainy day here all day. It is warmer and supposed to be in the 70's this week. I'll take that!!

Interesting and nice the NS "slim jim" has only 1 gram sugar. Some of the teriyaki sticks and other sticks can really get up there and you really have to read the labels! I did good today, so I was happy. Skipped the church guest lunch, so staying accountable was much easier.

Great humor and articles again. :)

My daughter picked the butts up from school all cooked and ready to eat. The school has a deal with a local bbq place here. The have 3 huge smokers and cooked over 200 for the school, and sold them for $35. They were huge and very delicious! Do not know the percent of who gets what, but it is a big money maker. It pays for the school band, uniforms and instruments.

I use the lower salt soy too, but the last bottle I bought was the good stuff from the oriental restaurant we frequent.

Hospital bill (excluding doctors) was $115,632 before insurance. Two Tylenol $7.00! $11 for a single dose of over the counter cough syrup. CT scan in hospital $10,000 wheras ive had the SAME procedure outpatient was $700. Respiratory services $7,000...and nobody “thought” to give me a steroid inhaler for $10 which solved that problem in three days! This is insane.

    Hi Jan
I had a big bag of beef stick ends that we were given by a friend last year. The ones that were eaten were tasty, However I just went to look at the nutrition info and the ones left in the bag had grown fur so they are now in the kitchen garbage can, what a waste :(

I am not surprised that the Teriyaki sticks are high in sugar.

Lucky You with warm weather, Ours did get into the low 60s yesterday and is now dropping.

And I keep seeing news about hospitals closing in some areas due to no money, Ha!

I was in overnight some years back and the darn bill IMO was high, It was not even near what Yours is, Wow :(
Those types of prices are why so many people had trouble paying for health insurance.

And they will not let You sidestep their prices even for OTC items, Ridiculous.

I am not surprised that a inhaler never occurred to them TBH.

    Hello!

It is just misting here and gray. I had to make a quick run to the post office and get some cards in the mail. I am really bad about buying cards for people and not getting them out, lol! I made it this time.

Val, those hospital bills are just ridiculous. I know they say to shop around for costs on tests and procedures as they vary by ridiculous prices also. That is not always feasible though. As much as I gripe about insurance, I am glad I have it. We waste so much money in this country. I wish people and businesses would just be more accountable!! :#

It is misting here and just chilly. So far, so good today, though another hungry day. Probably as I am losing into new territory. How does my body know this, lol? :#

The pictures of the nuclear site were very surreal. interesting about the animals, though I wonder if they are not just roaming into the area. I noticed no pictures about squirrels and other small animals or birds...creepy!!

Headed for humor!! Keep up the good work all! ...Jan
