Hi Jan—Happy for you to be in new weight territory! I understand what you mean about the body knowing. Hi Roger-i truly hope never to be hospitalized again. In this urgent emergency Distance to ER was my only thought. But even for outpatient tests and labs, United Healthcare dictates which companies I must see. I can choose which branch, but that’s the end of my choices. This was disappointing...after insurance, the cost of getting an in-office flu test for my kid was $80. I would have thought that was covered. I forced myself to pickup doggie stuff in the backyard yesterday. It was well overdue but I can’t say i felt up to it. But I got it done so that’s good. Here’s good news—I finally made a bit of progress on an issue at work. I sent an email to a top dog in one dept stating the issue, the consequences of no action, and my recommendation. He said I’m spot on, but that this is huge. I said i know, but do far nobody in positional authority will own it and fix it. He said he would talk with a top dog of another department (i like that guy too and he’s already familiar with the situation). Feeling hopeful.

    Hi
I'm back from walking again and no cents. The temperature this morning was 27 on the porch and on the cable news channel. The temperature has dropped Quite significantly since yesterday.

I just checked my email and it seems that my upcoming NS frozen and Shelf Stable foods should arrive today. I now know what I will be doing today.

    Hello!

It is just misting here and gray. I had to make a quick run to the post office and get some cards in the mail. I am really bad about buying cards for people and not getting them out, lol! I made it this time.

Val, those hospital bills are just ridiculous. I know they say to shop around for costs on tests and procedures as they vary by ridiculous prices also. That is not always feasible though. As much as I gripe about insurance, I am glad I have it. We waste so much money in this country. I wish people and businesses would just be more accountable!! :#

It is misting here and just chilly. So far, so good today, though another hungry day. Probably as I am losing into new territory. How does my body know this, lol? :#

The pictures of the nuclear site were very surreal. interesting about the animals, though I wonder if they are not just roaming into the area. I noticed no pictures about squirrels and other small animals or birds...creepy!!

Headed for humor!! Keep up the good work all! ...Jan

    Hi Jan
You are ahead of me, I'm not even good at getting the cards and when I do I tend to the cheap side and buy them at the Dollar Store where they are either $1 per card or two for $1

When I see bills like that I am so glad I have the Medicare Supplement insurance that pays 100% of covered health costs that Medicare does not cover no matter how much I grumble about the cost of the supplement.

I wonder if it just that Your mind is saying the scale's reading is so good, Lets Spurge to celebrate. I have that problem FWIW.

I thought those images were interesting too. I suspect that the small animals are there, and it was more of a not interesting to the photographer than a lack of them.

In fact a quick check shows this, which You should find to be very interesting reading including where it says
In the zone, “humans have been removed from the system and this greatly overshadows any of those potential radiation effects.”

Essentially, this means that human populations have a bigger negative impact than radiation.

    Good Morning!

Brrr...at 27 degrees it is chilly up north! We finally have some sunshine and we are supposed to reach 70 today, in fact most of the week. We will see. The sun is sure welcome though! Our lows are in the 50's. It is still chilly in the house though.

Thanks for noticing the effort! I am 2 oz. away from another pound, give or take. Not eating out helps, I must say, and so far so good. It sure is a slow process. :#

Interesting articles today and great humor! I am glad I am not at the Olympics. That is just brutal conditions. What a shame to wait and train so long and have those conditions at the time of competition.

Val, It sounds like you are right on tact. Hopefully the follow up is positive. I hope you are somehow resting still a little extra! It is no joke when they say how important your health is as you get older. It seems simple, but in reality small things have such a bigger impact. (not to mention big things, lol!)

I woke yesterday with a terrible pain in my heel. I can barely walk on it, but I do not think it is gout, or strain. It feels like nerve. I am wondering if sciatica can cause heel pain. Of course, because my shoulder and hip pain is better the last 2 days. My actual nerves seem askew! LOL! :D

Good exercise putting away all that NS, Roger!! Everyone have a great day!! ..Jan B)

    Hi Jan
Low 50s are much better than in the 20s like yesterday and 30s where it was this morning.

    2 ounces is doable :)

I agree, I am fighting the urge to go for the lunch special at the House of Thai for either pad Thai or Pad See yew :(

It would seem to me that the weather is skewing the results as to who wins.

My frozen and shelf stable boxes arrived, I have no idea why the were so late in the day unless FedEx changed the drivers routing or added more area to them. They always arrived before 3PM not late in the day where this shipment was way later. Tracking showed Actual delivery: Tue 2/13/2018 6:30 pm :(

Good Luck with the pain. You could be right as to the cause FWIW.

    Hello!

Such terrible news about the school shooting in Florida. I can not imagine how hard this is for all the parents and families. It is really ridiculous we sell assault rifles and have such poor mental health. Most of these people had warning signs that were ignored, or people were uneducated about simple signs and precautions. My daughter teaches several will be sociopaths now, but warnings are ignored and covered up by the schools so they do not look bad. Help is done by mediocre paperwork and no real help...Just awful so many are unwilling to change their lifestyle for the sake of children...(Congress and special interest...). :'(

Val, I hope too your condition is not returning. It is very hard to treat, so watch carefully and trust your gut, no pun intended... :/ I hope you feel better, soon.

Really interesting about the earthquakes and volcanic activity. Glad I am not in an area prone to that. The weather and everything is so screwy. It does not feel like 70's but it is this week, with possible 80's next week. We are experiencing an early spring, much too early. The house is cold though with the dampness, and the heat runs all day, just with longer periods it is off till it cycles. Weird weather! Some of the early trees are starting to bloom.

I got a good laugh out of the lizard story, but crazy enough to true!

I went to supper last night with my daughter and went Vietnamese. I had a wonderful dish with glass noodles, BBQ type chicken, and vegetables and fresh Thai basil, with a peanut sauce (most of the calories!) yet easy to count. I skipped an appetizer, and stayed under my calories. I was full, but I could have eaten 4 bowls it was so good. Trying to be disciplined today! So far, so good, lol.

The forecast for overnight of rain happened and the rain is forecast to fall throughout most of the day in a on and off fashion. Hi Jan
The only reason I can blame congress is that they should be punishing the ones that ignore the warning signs.

I do not blame gun control laws, Some of the areas with the toughest gun control laws are also the ones with the most deadly violence. Think of Chicago, NYC, Baltimore etc.

I suspect that the Dampness is contributing to house feeling cold. I thought You had a dehumidifier to cope with that problem ?

According to a post in another message thread the Daffodils are in bloom in the Atlanta area

Not what I want to experience either, Volcanoes and Earthquakes, My Aunt and Uncle in southern California had Taller furniture bolted to the walls and plenty of water stored in the garage in case the big one struck.

I do not recall ever having eaten Vietnamese Food, It was not all that many years ago that I first tried Thai food. Sometime in this century as it happened and that was because it was next door to work.

It appears that were disciplined enough since You managed this despite the Vietnamese Food

    Good morning!

Thanks for the good words. I did put on a bit from dinner last night. I am sure because of the rice and potatoes. Hopefully it will come off quickly! You are so lucky to have so many food choices where you are. Though maybe not from a diet standpoint! :D

Interesting articles again. It is back to hard to know what to eat sometimes! I do try to not use too much processed foods. The non stick pans was bad news.

I have not used the dehumidifiers too much, as the small meters I bought show the humidity down. What can I say, the South is just weird, lol...It must be more we are just used to the heat.

I have felt a small earthquake here, it was scary, but kind of cool. We have some faults running thru here from the Miss. region. Not the same as Cal. however. :#

You are probably right on some of the legislation for guns. Something needs to be done, though. Maybe mental health records need to have more access. With this kids backround, he sure did not need a gun.

I have now posted more humor

    Hi
I'm back from walking again and no cents. The temperature this morning was 28 on the porch and 29 on the cable news channel. The forecast is for overnight snow into early tomorrow morning. The forecasts I saw on Friday was for Sundays snow depth to be 1 to 3 inches on some and 5 or 6 inches on other weather forecasts.

I did see 3 Deer while walking today FWIW.

I tried the Limited Time Dinner Entree called Yellow Curry Sauced Chicken & Rice @ 210 calories :)
It was tasty despite being a bit hot, I was able to tolerate it and the heat level reminds me of the Chicken and Vegetable Stir-Fry. Once the second one I ordered is used up I likely will not Re-Order them. On the good side it was not so hot that I had to pass it on to my brother :)

Great job on your walking! *Val, hope you are feeling better!! <3 * ...Jan

    Hi Jan
When I fry anything these days I use my Brothers cast Iron Skillet
along with the oven safe Glass lid it works for things in the oven too.
I may be strange in that I do not worry about processed foods. Any risk from them is no worse than many other environmental factors.

We had a small earthquake 6 or 7 years ago that I sort of felt, It was more that I was sitting at work talking to my brother who had dropped in and we noticed the surface of the coffee disturbed and the news that night confirmed a small earthquake.

I have answer if the humidity is down.

Reality Check: More Minnesotans Own Guns, Violent Crime Remains Low
My suspicion is that the Violent crime rate stays low due to the weapons not despite them.

The FBI dropped the ball on the warnings, The Cynic in me wonders if they are putting to much time and effort into the Russian investigation and everything else is secondary ?

The only concrete item on the Agenda today is getting the low priced Ham into the oven for later today. It was on sale for $0.69 a pound, It is hard to beat the price
