Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! We currently have 8 sunny degrees here with an expected high of 21 with sunny skies and a 4% chance of rain.

I got a brief walk in this morning. More office work and meetings today. Whee! At least we have a great work group. I really love working for this company. And I got a company shirt yesterday. I'll send a pic when I actually wear it.

Now I need to catch up on at least Swamp, Shoe, and Calvin in the funny pages.

    Hello,
I guess I forgot to hit post this a.m. It's currently 55F and sunny with a high of 58 expected.
When I went to get my shoes and socks on this morning, something in my lower back/hip must have pulled funny and now I can't seem to move sideways or go up stairs without a lot of pain. I'm going to try some ice. Fun. :grimace:
    Wishing everyone a good day.

    Good afternoon;
Vix-I hope the ice helped. Is this the hip you just had replaced?
Ed-sounds like you are enjoying your meeting. Dinah is a beautiful cat.
    Hi Irene.
It is currently 70's degrees. Is it summer or fall? :)
Have a great rest of the day!

    Hi,
I am feeling better today, thanks, Jo. Able to walk ok, and the rest is easing up. It is the tissues around the replaced hip and down my leg.
It was such a beautiful day, we took a ride out to Cunningham Falls State Park this morning. Took the easy 1/2 mile trail to the Falls. Very peaceful and pretty. We saw our granddaughter this afternoon. And I've been going over my lists for Thanksgiving, so we can get that shopping done. And I'm trying to work on holiday lists, so lots of time on the internet.
It was almost 70F today and sunny til late afternoon. It is chilling off for a while with highs in the 40s and 50s for the next couple of weeks. I guess winter is coming.
Have a good evening, everyone. 🤗

Glad you are feeling better, Vix!

    Good morning.
My leg got worse again as the day wound into evening. I went to PT this morning, and I need to rest it and make very small movements until the irritation goes down.
    Safe travels, Ed.
It's currently 41F here. Sunny. High around 45F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. I always seem to have plenty to do, even though it doesn't seem like much. Need to do a little cleaning, maybe plant some clippings in a pot. I might even bake. I have a couple of bananas that could go in a banana bread. ;)
    Happy Friday, everyone. :)

We made it home around 9:30 this evening. It was a long ride. J started driving, but was up late last night with a programming problem, so I took over about an hour or so out and drove for 3 or 4 hours, and J took back over, having napped, to drive the rest of the way home.

All the cats seem happy to see us and Buttons even came out when she realized that J was home.

    Good morning.
Glad you made it home safe and sound, Ed. I'm sure the cats are happy you're back.
It's currently 29F here (brrrr), partly cloudy skies this morning will become overcast during the afternoon. High 48F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
I made banana bread yesterday, and a ground chicken and veggie cassarole for dinner. As expected, my scale was not happy with me this a.m. The banana bread was a treat, and worth it. I'll eat lighter today.
Happy Saturday, everyone. Happy Weekend. :)

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! We currently have 5 (40 F) sunny degrees here with an expected high of 15 (58 F) under mostly sunny skies and that rare 0% chance of precipitation.

The cats let me sleep in a bit, but finally Dinah was insistent that it was time for me to get up. Orion is in my lap now so I guess I am forgiven for being away all week.

I still have some food bowls to clean up, but that will be later. I cleaned one set last night, for today's food. I had the cat sitter removing pre-prepared bowls, in labeled ziplock bags, from the refrigerator each day, then putting the prior bowls into the ziplock bags for freezer storage until we got home. That way she didn't have to worry about washing up any bowls or dishing out any food.

It was a good week, but I am exhausted. I definitely need today to recharge.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! We currently have 9 (49 F) cloudy degrees here with an expected high of 17 (63 F) under cloudy skies and 4% chance of precipitation.

I am supposed to go and help with the vendor's luncheon at the orchid show today but I am not sure I will be there. I had a good day yesterday, so will probably go and help some. I may not go out to get the food though, as that was not part of the deal when I said I would help, but got added on later. I was originally just supposed to pick it up at the park entrance, which I had agreed to.

    So we will see.

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! We currently have 12 (53 F) cloudy degrees here with an expected high of 15 (59 F) under mostly cloudy skies and 9% chance of precipitation.

I did go in and do the luncheon. I warmed up food, set out salad, and dressings, and a little dessert. Then I cleaned up and came home. Once home, I rearranged my desk to clear some space and lay out the computer monitors in better positions for me to work.

I really would have preferred to stay home the whole day again, but I managed. The person who had been taking care of the hospitality had a conflict, and I was the most experienced person in the group.

I am sure everyone had enough to eat, and there were minimal amounts of leftovers so it was all good.

Orion is being extra needy this morning, wanting extra lap time. I think he is noticing that the air is cooler and my lap is a warm spot.

    Good morning.
Hope you had a great birthday, Irene.
Ed, good of you to help out at the orchid show. My Thanksgiving cactus is blooming beautifully this year, full of gorgeous pink flowers. I didn't realize there are actually 2 different plants, Thanksgiving cactus and Christmas cactus. Mine was sold as a Christmas cactus, but is the other. The leaves and flowers are slightly different, as are the blooming times.
I need to go to the grocery store to pick up some things that weren't available when hubby went, mainly cranberries, coconut aminos and some fresh herbs. And I need to stop by the library.
It's currently 43F,mostly cloudy at the moment, a mix of clouds and sun expected. High 48F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
Another new week. Wishing everyone a good one. 🦃🦃🦃

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! We currently have -2 (29 F) clear degrees out there with an expected high of 13 (55 F) under sunny skies and a 1% chance of precipitation.

Not a lot on the critical agenda for home today. I am looking forward to the holiday, and I have Friday off too!

    Good morning;
    Irene-Happy belated birthday!
Vix-Is your hip feeling any better? I didn't know there were Thanksgiving and Christmas Cacti.
I must have a Thanksgiving one because it always blooms at Thanksgiving.
Ed-Your fur babies must have been so glad when you came home.
Is everyone cooking Turkey for Thanksgiving? We are having a chicken pot pie. My daughter is vegetarian, so cooking a turkey for just hubby and me is too much. I will still do stuffing and all the veggies. I already made my whole berry cranberry sauce.
    Have a great day!

    Good morning.
Jo, thanks, my hip is slowly improving. I didn't know about the cacti either. If the leaves have points on the edges they're Thanksgiving, rounded bumps on the edges are Christmas. Your chicken pot pie sounds yummy.
My family is coming for Thanksgiving and I'm making a turkey. Also stuffing, whole cranberry sauce, crescent rolls, peanut blossom cookies, and I'll make some whipped cream for the pie. My son and his wife are bringing our traditional marinated salad and a pumpkin pie. My daughter and her husband are bringing mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. So much food!!! I'll make the cranberry sauce and cornbread for the stuffing today. Probably the cookies too. I may pick up some extra storage containers so everyone can take home leftovers!
It's currently 25F, sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 47F. Winds light and variable.
My housecleaner is coming today, and I have a PT appt this afternoon. Busy day ahead.
    Happy Wednesday, everyone. 🦃🦃🦃

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! We currently have a clear, cold, -2 (30 F) with an expected high of 15 (58 F) under sunny skies and 1% chance of precipitation.

I have more turkey than I had envisioned. I bought a small chunk of roasted turkey breast, but on taking it from the freezer realized it was a bit small if any guests actually come, though I don't really expect them to. Still, I did casually invite a few people and one never knows.

So...I bought some nice looking sliced turkey breast, and a couple of ham steaks. Then I discovered a forgotten, unopened package of mesquite smoked, sliced turkey for sandwiches. I had bought that just before we went down for the meetings, planning to bring it with me for in-room snacks, but now it is added to the turkey bounty for the holiday. Depending on how many, if any, guests arrive, I may leave the larger ham steak unopened and freeze it for another time. It would probably be great at the bottom of a pot of beans.

The pies just have to be pulled from the freezer, and the pumpkin pie baked. I have frozen rolls, that can be warmed in the convection oven quickly, and only as many as are needed. The cornbread dressing/stuffing is also in the freezer and I have some stuffing crumbs to make more if needed for leftovers. Frozen chunks of sweet potato can be quickly turned into microwaved candied sweet potatoes. Steamed green beans will be my green vegetable unless I decide on broccoli or Brussels sprouts, but I bought the green beans for this meal. The beans are in the freezer too, with the broccoli and brussels sprouts. Maybe I should just close my eyes and reach in...

Deviled eggs for J, and some of Grandma's potato salad (J's grandma, not mine) and some spanakopita for an appetizer.

WAY too much food. If I taste everything, and eat nothing, I will still have a full meal I think. And food for the weekend.

The dishwasher is running now, and I need my other mug of tea.

Looking forward to the four day weekend!

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We currently have 0 (32 F) sunny degrees here with an expected high of 18 (64 F) under mostly cloudy skies and a 1% chance of precipitation.

The Sara Lee pumpkin pie is in the oven, so the cooking has officially begun. We are expecting guests! Our nephew (on J's side) and his wife are supposedly on their way now, and planning to arrive around 2:00 this afternoon. So dinner may be as early as that, or perhaps a tad later. It's all fluid and not terribly important that we eat at any exact time. My food is mostly prepared in advance anyway, and can be reheated and kept warm as needed.

They are hoping to visit with Buttons, as they really miss her.

I think we will skip the spanakopita, as J thinks they won't care for it. V's wife has requested mac and cheese, so that will be added. I may make just a small bit of potato salad, since the mac and cheese is on the menu. Possibly a small amount of mashed potatoes for those who may want that. There will assuredly be plenty of food, regardless.

My timer shows about 20 minutes until time to check on the pumpkin pie and it is smelling wonderful.

We had dinner about 2:30 this afternoon, after V and his wife arrived. We chatted for half an hour or so while I finished up with the food. They are down the hall now talking to Buttons.

    The final feast consisted of

Deviled eggs for appetizer, and more were eaten during the meal.

    Two kinds of sliced turkey.

Ham, lightly glazed with brown sugar.

    Cornbread dressing.

Light bread dressing (vegetarian, for J)

    Mashed potatoes.

    Brown gravy

    Green peas.

    Whole kernel corn.

    Mac and cheese.

Maple glazed sweet potatoes with salted cashews, almonds, and pecans.

Brown bread and light bread rolls, with butter available on the table.

    Pumpkin pie.

    Pecan pie.

    Whipped topping.

I managed to get all the leftovers put away too! Thank goodness this only comes once a year.
