Slower Weight loss at 50?

Evening all,
Hubby and I are going to Brimfield antique show tomorow. It is held 3 times a year and dealers from all over come to it. I am looking for real wicker furniture for my deck. I bought the plastic wicker furniture a few years ago and it didn't last. The sun causes it to fade and crack. I want something that will hold up a long time and that I could possibly paint. Of course hubby is looking for tools. He is a machinist. He always says a man can't have enough tools.
Have a good evening.0 -
Thanks Jo, I like positive attitudes.
Hope you have fun at the antique show. We bought metal furniture for our deck, and we put it in the basement for the winter. It's only it's 2nd season out, but it seems like it will last. Real wicker is much prettier.
We bought a couple of the plastic wicker chairs for our front porch, but I think that's ok because it's covered.
Men do like their tools....and trees.

Good morning.
Off to body flow class in a little while. I'll do what I can.
Sunny and cool this morning.
Enjoy your day.0 -
Good Afternoon
We are back from the antique show. I didn't find any wicker furniture that was in good shape, so I will keep looking.
Vix-It was sunny and cool here as well.

Hi
If I said I was sore and sweaty and we hit it again today and there is still more to do. My brother did pick up a Yard Cart at Lowes for less than 30 dollars. Better than a Wheelbarrow as it has two wheels in front so easier on the back as the wheels keep it upright and not the user as with a wheelbarrow.
Good Luck
I happen to believe we can all do it

Good morning.
I know you can do it, Linda. Hope all goes well today.
I watched a DVD yesterday that I borrowed from the library, Mayo Clinic Wellness Solutions for Fibromyalgia. There were a couple of good parts, one that explained that part of the problem is the muscles work against each other, leaving you sore. The other part was a yoga session that looked really relaxing. I'm going to keep the DVD for a while and see if I can learn that yoga session.
Enjoy the beautiful weather, everyone.
Vix, I hope you found some helpful info! Have you tried the yoga sessions?0 -

Linda-I hope your husband's surgery went well. Will keep him in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
Vix-I hope this new Dr. has some answers for you.
Roger-What did you plant?
I skyped with my son today. He is doing well and will be finished with school in a few weeks. He has one more presentation to do. Then comes the fun part of finding a job in his field.
Have a good evening.
Thanks, Joanne! Surgery went well and he's now home recovering. It was a long few days, driving to and from the hospital (an hour each way) for visits, but it got me moving!0 -
Sounds like a lot of exercise!
I didn't give up on my goal, I just wasn't losing any more weight! Nothing I tried would break through it.
I'm trying again, 4 years later and 20 pounds heavier. I think I can do it this time.

Thanks, Linda, Jo, Roger. We make a great team.
Linda, glad your husband is home and recovering.
Roger, the cart does sound better than a wheel barrow...they can get really heavy. Lots of work, I'm sure you're burning extra calories.
Jo, sorry you didn't find your wicker. Congrats on the 0.2 down! Every little bit counts.
I haven't tried the new yoga yet. Tomorrow will be busy, but soon.
Sleep well, everyone.0 -

Hi All
I planted some Bush beans, Lettuce Seed and Basil Seed to join the 10 Tomato plants and the four Sweet Basil. We put in the Basil plants as the Basil seeds were old and may or may not germinate. Thanks, Linda, Jo, Roger. We make a great team.
Linda, glad your husband is home and recovering.

Hi Vix
The Yard Cart is easier to use, The two wheels make it more stable and then (Tip Ahead) I make sure and load the most weight into the front of it which makes it easier to pick up and move. It was only $35 at Lowes and is 3 Cubic Foot in size. Believe it or not we use a Snow Shovel for the Mulch. They had a Cheaper Wheelbarrow but it was a wheelbarrow with the their stability issues when moving it.
Have a Nice Day

Good Afternoon;
Linda-I am glad the surgery went well and that hubby is home.
Roger-You are quite the busy bee. I like the sound of your yard cart. We have a wheelbarrow and I usually end up dumping whatever I am trying to cart, because they tip so easily.
Vix-thanks, I will take lbs. or ozs every little bit counts.
Had to cancel my hair appt today. I ended up at the dr. She thinks I have a kidney stone. I had blood work today and have to have an ultrasound tomorrow. About 10-15 years ago I had a kidney stone and had to have it removed. I haven't had any problems until now.

Oh! I'm sorry to hear that, Joanne! I hope you can pass it without too much trouble and avoid surgery!
Rainy today and hard to get motivated. One of our sons is having a year end party for his nursing cohort at our house tomorrow night - tents in the back yard, bonfire, volleyball, frisbees and so on, so I'll get some exercise tomorrow cleaning and helping him get ready.0 -

Hi Val and Irene! Nice to see you here.
Jo, good luck with the ultra sound. Mine came out clear last week, even with the awful pain I had had there.
I went to the new rheumatologist today. He's thinking it sounds like a virus plus my fibromyalgia, but he took more blood tests to check more things. There are apparently some nasty viruses around....nothing you can do for it and it can takes months to go away. He also gave me an injection in my neck which should help with the tight muscle there.
Roger, sounds like a great garden. I like all the things you planted. Basil is one of my favorite herbs. I kept my Thai basil barely alive over the winter indoors, but it seems to be doing better now that it's outside again.
Have a good night everyone. Sleep well.0 -

Chilly again this morning, but supposed to warm up later in the day. Off to dance this morning.
Have a wonderful Friday.0 -
Where is everyone today....probably working as opposed to me just goofing around.0

Hi Jo
I was looking for wheelbarow prices when I ran across the Yard Cart. I printed out a list of both sorted low to high and My brother agreed that the cart sounded handier.
I hope it is not serious!
Have a Good Day

hi everyone Roger you are doing so good I am so impressed . I am back on track the weight is starting to come off again yea . well I have yard work that needs to be done talk to you soon0

Hi Irene, beautiful day for yard work.
Roger, I really like the Thai basil and it's hard to find in the stores. Last summer I just started putting leaves of it into my salads for a refreshing and different flavor.
Jo, hope the ultra sound went well and that you're ok. Do you have to wait a few days for results?
Linda, I've been doing yoga for a few years. I think it helps keep me a little more flexible and balanced. I haven't tried the one on the DVD yet...I always seem to come up with other things to do, but I was interested in it because it is specifically for relaxing. Hope you have fun with your son's party.
Hi Val.
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
I want to thank everyone for sharing your health concerns and all. I had been feeling complacent because I don't have any outward signs of any concerns. So, I decided to take a more proactive approach and I scheduled my 50,000-mile check up (50 - year old physical)...so, once I see the doc, then I'll have my colonoscopy, mammo, and bone density scan (osteopenia because ovaries removed 2003).

Good morning.
Good luck with all your tests, Val. No outward signs is good.
Will be somewhat off plan today because we are going for a wine tasting with some friends. I can probably juggle the other food the rest of the day to make it work mostly on plan. And maybe I can get a little extra exercise in to help for what goes over. Anyway, I know it'll be fun.
Will mostly be running errands today. I have to exchange the lamp kit I bought because the main socket piece won't come apart. So I can't wire it up. May go shopping with my daughter this morning, and also want to find another flower for a new Mexican pot (from Mom's day). So mostly fun errands.
Thunderstorms maybe later, but for now, it looks really nice out. A little cool, partly cloudy/partly sunny.
Happy Saturday!0 -
Hi, all!
Missed most of the party because I spent yesterday evening bringing hubby in to have his knee surgery checked. His calf was quite swollen and with the nursing students here for their party, our son took a look and said something like '#2 edema with pitting'; pretty soon several other nursing students crowded around saying they wanted to see, so did a 'show and tell' and then called a nurse who recommended we go in to check on it. Two hours of driving and 3 hours at the hospital later, we found all was well - no clotting, thankfully. Better safe than sorry!
Cloudy but warm. A very nice day to plant some deck planters with flowers and veggies!

That's a lot of running, Linda, but glad all is well.0

Hi Irene
Congratulations on the weight coming off. I know it is hard for most people. As long as I can stay away from temptation I can stay 100% on plan. That mainly means, No Eating meals out and No Pizza or Chinese Take Out and I'm good.
Sunday is the tough day of the week, I keep feeling the pull to go to the Diner for a Nice End Cut Roast Prime Rib and Onion Rings. Oh well, Maybe next Year, maybe later this year!
Have a Good Weekend

Hi Val.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hi Vix
That is what the owner of the Thai restaurant that was next door to work said too. He could find it, he just did not like the trip to get it or the price. Hence He grew his own as much as possible.
Have a Great Day

Hi Irene
You are getting Your 40 hour work week in with those four days. I'm guessing the other 1/2 hour per day is for lunch?
I always preferred a 4 day work week when I could get it. So what happened to me? I ended up working 6 day 53 hour weeks for the last 16 years of work.
On the Plus side, at least I was working

Hi Joanne - Good luck with the ultrasound...I hope it is something easily resolved. I hear those really hurt.
Take care, Val[/quote]
Thank you. Ultrasounds are relatively painless, unless you get a technician that pushed down too hard on the wand. It seems I have a few kidney stones. They are relatively small and I should be able to pass them. I am not in any pain, so no pain meds and no antibiotics. On the downside they found some cysts on my kidneys and now I have to see a specialist.0 -
Good Evening everyone;
Vix-I am glad your ultrasound was clear. Have you had any relief from your neck injection? I will be keeping a good thought that your blood tests come back normal.
Val-your are having the works! I am glad you are looking after your health.
Linda-I am sorry you missed most of the party. It was good that you had hubby's leg checked out..better safe than sorry..glad everything is ok.
Irene-I'd say your are getting your exercise, especially if you are on your feet during your shift.
Roger-you are doing great. My temptations are on the days I am not working. I try to keep busy or go out of the house, so I won't be tempted to snack.
Have a good weekend.0
