    When it rains it pours. On top of my health concerns, I had to take Vinny(my cat) to the vet. He has been having some issues. It turns out he has diabetes. He will be on a special diet and I have an appointment on Monday, to learn to give him insulin injections. Six months ago all his tests were normal at his physical, so the vet thinks , he may not have to be on insulation for a long time. Just long enough for his body to heal. She thinks once we get his sugar down, the diabetes can be controlled with diet alone.

    Aw, Jo, sorry there are issues, but better to find out so you can take care of it.
    I have gotten some relief in my neck. There is another part of my neck that is hurting now, but not as bad. I probably just didn't notice it with the other pain before. If I go back, I'll see if there's anything else can be done, but this is really much better.
    Roger, you really help keep me inspired. :)
    Irene, are you still doing a lot of running around at work. That sounded like a lot of exercise there. I'm so glad you're back with us.
    Had a fun night out with friends. The winery was nice.
    Sleep well, have a good night.

    Hi Joanne - Good luck with the ultrasound...I hope it is something easily resolved. I hear those really hurt.
    Take care, Val

    Thank you. Ultrasounds are relatively painless, unless you get a technician that pushed down too hard on the wand. It seems I have a few kidney stones. They are relatively small and I should be able to pass them. I am not in any pain, so no pain meds and no antibiotics. On the downside they found some cysts on my kidneys and now I have to see a specialist. [/quote]

    Hi Jo
    Sorry to hear that they found those Cysts. I guess it is good that they did so they can be treated however.

    Good Evening everyone;
    Vix-I am glad your ultrasound was clear. Have you had any relief from your neck injection? I will be keeping a good thought that your blood tests come back normal.
    Val-your are having the works! I am glad you are looking after your health.
    Linda-I am sorry you missed most of the party. It was good that you had hubby's leg checked out..better safe than sorry..glad everything is ok.
    Irene-I'd say your are getting your exercise, especially if you are on your feet during your shift.
    Roger-you are doing great. My temptations are on the days I am not working. I try to keep busy or go out of the house, so I won't be tempted to snack.
    Have a good weekend. :)

    Hi Again
    I avoid temptations by not having them in the house:) Otherwise I might have a problem too:)

    Time to go have my 2:30PM Food, Part of eating every 2.5 hours to keep the hunger (Cravings) at bay.

    Have a Good Weekend All

    Hi everyone;
    What a beautiful day it is! We went to a flea market this morning.I didn't buy anything. I then came home and planted some spanish lavender in a couple of urns that I have in the yard. Now I am getting to do a little more research on feline diabetes. The vet gave me a few web sites to check out.
    Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

    Hi all
    Roger, my husband keeps some goodies in the house. He is tall and thin. Mostly I try to keep them on the higher shelves so I can't reach them. :smiley: Actually, I'm pretty good about staying away from junk food. I just tend to go for unnecessary snacks if I'm around the house.
    It was kind of rainy in the morning, but I got my little lamp put together. It's kind of cute. Then this afternoon went out to TJMaxx and found some Sketcher shoe like sneakers so I don't have to wear my big clunky sneakers all the time. I also got a chance to talk to a really good friend who lives in California and I don't get to talk to very often. So again, lucky me, a wonderful day.
    Jo, sounds like you had some fun too. Flea markets are good, and I like lavender. What is Spanish lavender? Much different?
    The weekends go so fast!
    My son sent a picture....he had gone to the park yesterday and there was a giant luna moth on a tree. Pretty cool looking.
    Anyway, I can't believe it's after 7 already.
    Have a good night everyone. ;)

    Vix - So glad there's some relief for your neck pain! Maybe the other neck pain is a result of the position you were holding when dealing with the worse pain before? Hope so, because then it will go away soon.

    Sorry, Joanne, about the cysts. Hope the specialist says it's nothing to worry about or can take care of them easily. Hope Vinny's injections solve his diabetes quickly - good news that it's manageable!

    Good morning.
    Hi Linda, glad you stopped by. I have a massage scheduled for this afternoon, so I'm hoping she can help with what's left of the neck pain. :) How have you been doing?
    Weighed in this morning....same as last week. Will be a little more careful this week and see if I can get it moving downward again.
    Off to yoga in a few minutes.
    The sun is shining....have a beautiful day, everyone. :)

    Good morning;
    Vix-I love the lamp! :) I hope you get some relief from your massage.
    Cloudy and gloomy day today. It kind of matches my mood. I have been reading all I can about feline diabetes and there is so much conflicting information. I don't know who to believe. It is kind of depressing. I take Vinny to the vet this afternoon for his first injection and for them to teach me how to do it. I am a nervous wreck. I have a list of questions. I just hope I can absorb everything they tell me.
    Weigh-in today, stayed the same. I have been making not so good choices the past couple of days. I plan to better this week.

    Jo, I 'm sure you're just worried about Vinny. You'll be fine. Sometimes I write down my list of questions and then forget to ask them all anyway.....so I understand. I had to give my cat intravenous a couple of times when she was very sick. It's really hard the first time, but it gets easier as you get used to it. I'm sure you can call the Vet's office later if you forget anything or have other questions. If you feel comfortable with your vet, I would trust them to give you the best information. Hugs.

    Joanne,
    Try not to worry too much about Vinnie. I had to give my cat insulin 2x a day for about 9 years. He lived to 19. The insulin wasn't that difficult to give him. I just gave him his food and while he was eating pulled up the loose skin at the back of the neck and did his injection. I never had any real difficulty doing it. He began to associate it with food so it worked out well for us. Hope it works for you.

    Thanks Flomay. We went for the lesson on how to give the injections. It wasn't so bad. I feel a little better now. Did your cat have to be on a special diet also?

    Good Evening;
    We made it back from the vet in one piece. Poor Vinny must feel like a pin cushion. Besides the insulin injection, my husband and I had to inject him with saline, just to get the feel of the needle and where to give the injection.
    On the plus side I have been very good about staying on plan today, no stress eating. :)
    It turned out to be a nice sunny day, so I sat on the deck for a while and soaked up the sun.
    Hi Irene-Hope you had a good weekend.
    Vix-Thanks for the encouragement.
    Have a good evening. :)

    I guess you just did not see any fleas you liked the look of if You came home empty handed :)

    Good Luck on the Cat Diabetes

    Hi Vix
    Nice looking Lamp.

    It just doesn't seem fair sometimes that some people can eat everything in sight and never gain weight.
    Have Good Week

    Hi Again
    I feel for You. It might be harder giving a loved one injections than doing it to Yourself.
    I had a family member that had to keep checking their blood sugar and injecting insulin. That was a big fear of mine that I could end up like that too. So far so good.

    Have a Good Weekend

    Wow! Nice lamp, Vix! I got kind of off track yesterday and today. I'm looking for a new day tomorrow, back on track, and getting that scale to drop! No more considering other food options for now because then I don't keep it to small, sensible helpings. :(
