Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! It's foggy and 49 right now and we are expecting overcast skies with a good chance of rain all day, and a high of 60. We may even have thunderstorms overnight.

Happy Saint Patrick's day, and happy Saint Gertrude of Nivelles day, and happy Saint Jan Sarkander day, and happy St Withburgh of East Anglia day, and happy Saint Ambrose of Alexandria day, and happy Saint Diemut of Saint Gall day, and happy Saint Theodore of Rome day, and happy Saint Alexander day, and happy Martyrs of Serapis day!

I need to get the laundry folded and put away, and I need to get the corned beef into a slow cooker with some vegetables, so it will be nice and tender by dinner time. I can wait until 9 or 10 this morning on that though.

I was lucky to get a small piece of point cut corned beef brisket. It's not as flat as the more common cut, and is more marbled. It should be very tasty. As it's just 2.12 pounds, I will probably get only 3 or 4 meals from it, and maybe less, depending on how much fat marbling there is all told. I am hoping for 3 meals.

I will figure out something else for J but have plenty of vegetarian options to choose from.

And, of course, I have to figure out something for lunch, and don't have any small packets of meat thawed. I can always quick thaw something in a pinch, or just have a grilled cheese sandwich. I can decide that later. Yesterday's patty melt was nice.

Dinner last night was taco salad.

Breakfast this morning was a sandwich of lightly toasted, lightly buttered Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted bread, with an egg, one largish sausage patty, and American cheese. That was pretty tasty.

I have set up the fluid for Lilo's treatments, which makes the laundry room look a teensy bit like a mad scientist's lab, or a hospital room, with the bag hanging and the tubing on it. And, she will need her Wednesday treatment shortly after lunch. She gets 10 treatments out of one bag.

Well, there was room for the carrots and onions in the crock with the corned beef, but the wedge shape of the point cut, with the layer of fat on top, didn't leave room for the potatoes, so they will have to be cooked separately later.

Our housecleaner is here this morning. Yay!
I need to declutter my study before she gets this far. Have 2 loads of laundry going.
Ha...wonder what Calvin is up to. :smirk:
It's currently 39, a bit rainy and foggy with a high of 57 expected. It was gray and gloomy all day yesterday. Maybe the sun will peek out a little later.
    Have a good day, everyone.

J and I both have our appointments for Covid vaccines now. First shots are Thursday for J and Saturday for me, with the second shots 4 weeks later for each.

Oh, and here is my small Saint Patrick's day dinner, served in a soup plate. A small(ish) potato, chunk of carrot, some onion, Brussels sprouts, and, of course, the star of the show, the corned beef.

I will probably turn the rest into hash I think and get a couple more meals out of it. It was a VERY fatty piece of corned beef, but delicious and very tender. I avoided as much of the fat as I could.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! 61 cloudy, rainy degrees out there now, with an expected high of 67, with no sun, and the possibility of some morning thunder.

J has the first Covid shot this afternoon. I have a doctor appointment. We tried to get shots together but the online system was acting crazy, constantly changing available slots, then telling us that a slot was no longer available, then suddenly slots opened up, or claimed still available when they had just been stated as already taken.

Then, when you DID get in for a reservation set, you had 15 minutes to fill in all your information and verify the reservations, or you would lose them and have to start all over. It was a bit nerve wracking, but we did manage to both get reservations finally.

As it's going to be another damp and dreary day, I have no plans other than the doctor visit today.

    Good morning.
Ed, that's how it was here too, signing up for shots. I got kicked out about 4 or 5 times thinking I would get an appt. before I was actually able to get one. They're more available now. I got several notices after I managed to get my first vaccination that vaccines were available at various locations and to hurry and sign up. Congrats to both of you for getting signed up. :) I guess you're getting Moderna if they're 4 weeks apart. That's the one I got. Hubby got Pfizer, they're 3 weeks apart. His was a week before mine, so he's all done.
Your St. Patty's dinner looks good. I skipped the corned beef this year. We had ground chicken and veggies, sort of chili...we do that a lot.
It's raining here this a.m., not as hard now as before. Currently 45 with a high of 55 expected. We had no sun at all yesterday, and will probably be the same today.
I'm going back to the ortho tomorrow to ask some questions, get some more information about anything else I need to do, and fill out any additional forms.
No special plans for today. Will see what the day brings.
    Happy Thursday, everyone.

I am definitely getting two nice meals out of the leftovers. One bowl, shown below, of hash was my lunch today, and the other will be my supper. There are still a couple of cooked potatoes left, as I had cooked up ALL the remaining red potatoes in the bin, and since they were cooked separately, with no meat contact or contamination, may be fried up for something that J can eat.

    Good evening;
I am glad everyone has had their shots or will be getting them soon.
I will be able to sign up on Monday. I am glad it is my day off, as I will probably be spending some time trying to get an appointment.
So far I have had a clean bill of health from the dentist and the dermatologist. I go tomorrow for my two ortho appts.
Vix-I miss chatting with you also. I need to get into a new routine, now that I know what my work schedule will be. I decided to forgo the corned beef this year. We had chicken instead.I was not happy with my doctor and it was so hard to get an appt. with her or anyone in the practice. With this new doctor I got an appt. right away and appts. with all the specialists she wanted me to see within a week. The practice is part of the Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Ed- your corned beef dinner looked delicious.
Hi Irene-good to hear from you.
Hi Jan-hope you are doing well.
I couldn't get Sophie an appt. with the specialist until May. They put her on a waiting list if something comes up sooner.
We are getting rain now and expected to turn to snow, with a few inches accumulation.
    Have a good evening. :)

Howdy all y'all. It's fantastic Friday!

Glad to hear that you will be signing up soon for your shot(s) Joanne. My mother, who happens to be named Joanne, finished hers recently, and my siblings are slowly, but surely, getting theirs. We are scattered all around the country and different states are proceeding at different rates.

A friend of ours, in Pennsylvania, just finished her round of two shots, and has made plans to visit us for a week in mid-May, after we have finished ours, and waited about four weeks after the second, for full effect.

It will be nice, and, honestly, a bit weird, to have a visitor staying with us other than close family, and even that made me a bit uneasy, though we had no issues from it. J's only nephew may be coming for this weekend, but that is still not sure. I will be a bit nervous when our friend from Pennsylvania comes, about her flying, and about having a long term (for introvert me, a week IS a long term) guest for the first time in well over a year.

Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day, despite the original gloomy forecast. The wind changed, and the clouds all just blew away. It was dismal and rainy when I drove to the doctor's office, but when I left, the sun had already come out and things were starting to dry up a bit, finally.

The doctor was very pleased with my consistency in keeping the weight from getting out of hand, and all my numbers looked pretty good, though two of my liver enzymes seem to always be a bit elevated. As they have been, usually, a bit elevated for years, we are really not worrying about that much. The ratios look fine, and they aren't grossly elevated, so we will just continue to watch them for now.

J got the first of two Moderna shots yesterday afternoon, and seemed fine all evening. We will see how that is this morning, after J gets up.

It's a little bit cooler this morning, at 44 partly cloudy degrees, and we are expecting a partly cloudy high of only 59 degrees.

Tomorrow is looking good, so I should have a pleasant drive to Lilburn, an adjoining suburb, for my first shot.

The dishwasher is running now, so I will be putting those dishes away later. Nothing else critical on the agenda.

    Good morning.
Jo, I'm so glad you will be able to sign up for the vaccinations...I thought working in a grocery store you would have been higher in the priority list. Get up early to start checking for vaccines, check several places ( I finally got one ar 6:45 a.m. but had been trying from before 6) . It took me a few weeks to get signed up, but there is more availability now, so hopefully it will be easier.
I hope you are ok with your new work schedule. It is hard to change routines. I'm glad all is well with your dental and derm appts, and wish you well with the orthos. I switched Drs the last time because it was so hard to get an appt. I am just a little concerned about my current GP's most recent visit, (I didn't think the advice he gave me about my vitamin D being too high was right, but fixed it with a phone call), will hang in a bit longer. I can usually get in to see him quickly, if needed. And with upcoming surgery, I don't think it's a good time to change.
    I hope Sophie's ok.
Ed, maybe you should let your friend know you will be uncomfortable with her visit. Most people are still quarantining after flying. They have not yet loosened the rules on that as far as I know.
Glad your Dr. visit went well. I hope J is feeling well after the vax. Good luck with yours tomorrow.
On my agenda today is my ortho visit, and whatever else comes along. I put a load of laundry in the washer. Have to remember in case I'm not here when it's done.
    Have a good Friday, everyone.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! It's a clear 41 degrees out there (feels like 34) with an expected high of only 58 but sunny all day. Happy first day of Spring!

This afternoon I should have a pleasant drive to the Kroger in Lilburn, to get my shot, and while in a Kroger store anyway, I might pick up a few things, like eggs and milk. I do still have a little bit of actual cash left. Maybe I should stay away from the manager's special bin, or the meat department entirely. LOL. As this is not a Kroger store I am familiar with, I may accidentally pass it on the way to the pharmacy, though they are usually fairly separate.

Other than that, a few minor things to look into in the house. I heard the sugar gliders fussing a bit ago, and it looked like they had eaten all their food. They were both in the vicinity of their protein bowl, until I looked and they scampered off in different directions. So I gave them a little more yogurt and added a little dried pineapple to their fruit and veggie bowl and haven't heard a peep since, so I think I resolved the issue. Clyde was lurking in a tube and Remus was eating yogurt when I last looked.

Shot number one is done, and so far, so good!

I did end up passing through the meat department an my way to the milk, eggs, and cheese afterward, but controlled myself enough to only buy one pack of marked down tenderloin steaks. I have left it in the refrigerator along with the ground beef I had already thawed up. I THINK I am making baked spaghetti for dinner tonight, but you know Edweirdo...I mean Eduardo, and that plan may change. LOL.

Of course there will be leftovers of whatever I make from the ground beef, but that can be lunches, breakfast, or another dinner, and the two steaks can be broken up tomorrow. I may eat one, or half of one, and freeze the rest, possibly in smaller pieces than what are currently there.

Food is food. As long as I have SOMETHING for my breakfast, I am happy. And even happier if it's quick to prepare.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! It's 45 partly cloudy degrees out there now, with an expected partly cloudy high of 60 with minimal chance of rain.

My left arm is hurting from the shot. That started last night, after supper. I am taking acetaminophen for the pain. It's no worse, so far, than the pain from a flu shot. In fact, so far the flu shot was worse. Hopefully this will be the extent of it, but regardless it's worth it to help get things back to normal.

I don't need to run any cars around today, as both got run around more than enough yesterday. I am having leftover pasta, chickpea rotini, for breakfast.

Not planning a lot today. In fact, for the moment, not planning anything but maybe a nap.

    Good morning.
Ed, glad you got your vax and are feeling ok. About the same as the flu shot. I still have the bruise though (from 3/1) Maybe it'll be gone by the time I get the next one on the 29th.
It's currently sunny and 30, with a high of 62 expected. Sounds like some sun time this afternoon. :)
Our children stopped by for a visit yesterday, which was really nice. My son was installing a replacement charger in our garage with hubby who totally appreciated the help. I think they're all getting vaccinated soon. It'll be nice when we can get together without masks. I'm really looking forward to the holidays this year.
Need to put some color in my hair today. And will see what else the day brings.
    Happy Sunday, everyone.

    Good morning;
I have an appt. for my vaccine next Friday at the Hospital. I was able to get one for hubby at a community center in the next town over on Tuesday. I thought I would be spending a lot of time trying to the get the appointments, but it was relatively easy.
My knee ortho appt. was good. I have pre-patella bursitis. Doc said to take Aleve twice a day and use compression and ice. He said it should resolve in a few weeks, if not to call him.
I was pleasantly surprised that I have no signs of arthritis or any other damage in my knees.
As for the hand, I have to call and make an appt. for an EMG. I hope that will tell why my index and middle fingers are numb.
Vix-I am glad you were able to visit with your children. I really wish I could go and see my son.
They are still in lockdown, so we will probably not get to see them this year. They are not sure when they will be getting the vaccine.
Ed-glad to hear you are not in much pain after your shot.
Yesterday I looked in my front yard and noticed that my tulips are starting to sprout. I also found a dead bird in the yard. I think it is an American woodcock. I had to google it and that was the closest to what it looked like. I have never seen one around here before.
Have a great day and happy first day of spring! :)

Howdy all y'all. It's magnificent Monday!

It's 51 clear degrees out there now, with an expected high of 70 under partly cloudy skies. I have the dishwasher running, so will have clean dishes to put away later. And I have to give Lilo her Monday morning fluid treatment when I finish this cup of caffeine.

I have some housework to take care of today and a wee bit of gardening.

    Irene, hope all is well.
    Ed, enjoy the nice weather.
It's currently 54 with a high of 62 expected today. I've been doing some paperwork. Will pick up a book at the library. Spent some time in the sun yesterday, hope to do the same today.

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

It's 55 clear degrees out there now, with an expected partly cloudy high of 69, with a small chance of rain.

Just a teensy bit of pain left now, from the vaccination, so that seems to be going quite well. Nothing critical on the agenda, but there is always housework to be done and we still have a bit of spring cleaning to do on the top of the driveway, where we have a very aggressive vine that wants to claim the driveway as its turf. It's not too difficult to rake off, but keeping it trimmed back is a constant chore and we let it go for far too long, so now we have to catch up again.

One of its relatives is trying to insinuate itself into the flower bed with most of the daffodils, and I need to keep an eye on that one and keep it cut back too. As long as I keep cutting it back, it should eventually give up since it won't be able to generate much chlorophyll.

Breakfast was oatmeal with blueberries and a splash of cream, with sausage links and scrambled eggs as well. I have given Lilo her Tuesday morning shot and she is sleeping peacefully nearby.
