The shoes! My feet are smaller too, and now that I can wear tall heels, wedges, pumps, the only flat shoes you will see me in are Chucks or my athletic shoes when I am working out. My coworkers all think I am 5'9" lol.4

The weight lifting must be paying off. Got a flu shot today. "Is your arm relaxed?" Asked the tech. Took her five attempts to stick me successfully. She felt bad, I didn't mind.6

Ran my first road race The Oktoberfest 8k. Smashed my previous run of the course. Got a medal and free beer, too.
And I got to meet Runner Girl, a chick I've been talking to. This was out first (non)date.9 -
New 10 mile personal best time! 89 minutes 46 seconds! Nearly two minutes faster than my previous best.4

Weight lifting is paying off. Medical tech trainee asked "is that arm relaxed?" as she was sizing me up for a flu shot. Took her six jabs to get it in. She was horrified, I was fine...3

An NSV because I haven't lost many pounds in recent months...but that is a small top and size TWO jeans!14 -
OMG, You look fantastic!! Love the name change, too!2

-
I actually weigh less than what it says on my driver's license! (And you know that was a lie anyway )9
-
I had VSG on 18 June 2015. Have lost 75 pounds; still have ~14 to go. Haven't been on here in a long time; have a lot of NSVs!!
- clearing out the closet, donating bag after bag of clothes from size 14 to size 3X.
- losing a full shoe size
- wearing size 10 clothes I've had squirreled away in the back of the closet for 12 years, with my eye on getting into those size 8s and 6s!!
- being able to wear several items of clothing that had been NWT in my closet for over a decade
- being able to wear beloved jewelry that I'd been unable to wear for years (Thai baht necklace and pendant; rings; bracelets)
- being able to stand on one foot in the shower and wash the bottom of my other foot
- being able to bend down and put on my socks and tie my shoes with utter ease because my stomach is no longer in the way... meaning my arms are long enough!
- being able to complete the C25K (Couch to 5K) app and run my first 5K - I hadn't run in years
- not having any hip pain any longer
- being able to get on and off a shuttle bus easily and without knee/hip pain
- going hiking in Yosemite and Big Sur with my kids, and not getting winded
- getting a new driver's license photo and getting complimented by the DMV lady
- climbing fearlessly up a ladder to change the light bulb in the entry hall light fixture
- putting in an 18'x6' vegetable garden and spending hours and hours gardening without becoming red-faced and covered in sweat
- the feel of my bones under my skin, no longer buried in inches of blubber. My daughter actually complained: "Mom, your shoulder is BONY!" YES!
- my family's pride in my achievements
- being actually HAPPY to have my photograph taken; having a blast taking selfies with my kids
- seeing respect and not dismissal in the eyes of co-workers and strangers alike
- feeling younger, sexier, healthier and happier than I have in far too long!!
NO REGRETS!
Edited to add:
- realizing I need to update my photo on this app cuz I'm down a good 30# since it was last posted!!11 -
Also having thighs that don't rub together when you walk and being able to comfortably cross your legs!6
-
Oh, yeah - forgot about crossing legs - that still makes me smile - so utterly awesome and comfy! Sitting in an airplane seat, too - legs crossed and room to spare on either side of my bum! LOVE IT!!4

This past weekend, I said goodbye to all of my 3X shirts and 42" pants & shorts. I'm fitting into 2XL shirts easily now and some 1XL. I also had to pick up some new uniform shirts for work, down two sizes since I started this in August. Everyone at work now compliments me and says I'm "melting away." I'm not big on attention, but it feels good and further reinforces that I made the right decision to go with the surgery on top of feeling so much better already!
It is so liberating being able to go shopping for clothes, seeing something I like and not automatically assuming I can't have it because they don't come in "bubba" size. My wife has also taken to calling me a "selfie queen" because I actually don't think I look absolutely hideous now and have her take pictures of me in new clothes to see how I look. I just ordered a couple of shirts, a pair of shorts and a new coat from Old Navy that I really like. Before losing the weight, I could never have bought these clothes.
Another nsv recently is that my wedding band no longer fits me. It's an ArtCarved Tungsten Carbide band that can't be resized. I considered sending it in as it has a lifetime replacement warranty if your ring size changes or it becomes damaged. While it is still an option, I've worn this ring for 10 years and am leaning toward just keeping it as is because this ring itself has great sentimental value to me. I have a replacement tungsten band my wife bought me that is silver & blue with a celtic knot design on it that I love which I am currently wearing.12 -
I had surgery on 8/29...I went clothes shopping for the first time. Went from a 24 to an 18!! First time in a "teen" sized pant in many, many years.10

Lost 50lbs as of this past Saturday!12

I went and tried clothes on for the first time in... months yesterday. I've been living in leggings, skirts, and dresses because it's easy and I don't have to continuously update my wardrobe as I shrink out of it. I ended up buying a size 16 jeans, down from a 24. The 16s fit perfectly, so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to wear them. I tried on a bunch of 2x tops that were too big, so I'm guessing I'm in a 1x, down from a 3 or 4x. I dislike shopping, so I didn't try any tops in smaller sizes because I was done.
I feel like my brain has done pretty well keeping up with all of the changes, but I found myself still reaching for the bigger sizes and looking at the smaller ones like "Yeah right. Ain't no way". So I guess it has some more catching up to do.7 -
Went for a DexaScan on Friday. (Dexafit.com) I am a fact girl. I need to see the proof of why. In this situation, I'm grateful I did!
I went to my surgeon last month, he said for my frame and height (5'3") I could lose 10 - 20lbs more. Before the Dexa, the tech (it was located in a triathlon training center) told me for my age (42) and height she would be happy to see about 80lbs of lean muscle mass and a "lofty" goal would be around 100lbs of lean muscle.
She was shocked to see I have 101lbs of lean muscle on my body! WOOT! She told me I could safely lose about 5 - 7lbs before starting to look too skinny for my frame. She told me to focus on recomp, and those 5 - 7 will come off while continuing to build.
I also had an RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) test to see how about my metabolism. Apparently, I'm on fire. Just laying in bed all day I'm burning around 1500 calories, daily activities, talking, etc burn approximately 500 more, plus any exercise. SO...as @anbrdr knows, I don't eat NEARLY enough. Again, proof. The RMR also showed I burn equal amounts of fat and carbs. Based on my lean muscle, my protein has been spot on, so I have to up my carbs and fat.
So, I'm upping my calories (fats and carbs) to 1,500! Once I'm able to maintain there for a bit, it will get upped again. If I'm able to get through everything laid out for today, I'll be at 1,420 calories. The most I've taken in since September of 2015! Time to wade through this new phase of things!11 -
Akindofmagic your list made me smile. Especially those little things. I can't wait to have my surgery on Nov. 14th.5

So last night at about 9pm, DD#1 - newly turned 14 years old - informed me that she needed "professional business attire" to wear TODAY for the debate she's participating in. !!! Her closet consists of t-shirts and either black or camo pants!! So I dug into the very, very back of my walk-in closet for the extremely few size 4s and 6s that I know are back there from my years in the Navy. NOTE: I retired from the USN in Dec 1994, and NOT at my lowest Navy weight!
AND!! I not only found something that fit my daughter - I found several things that fit ME!! Like a silk business suit I bought in mid-1994 to wear to my first post-Navy job interviews.
After a frantic overnight stint in the laundry room to deal with some 2.5 decades of dust, I am wearing a size 12 pantsuit today that is too big for me, with huge shoulder pads and slightly frayed cuffs.... and I. DON'T. CARE!!! #pantsuitnation #74poundsgoneforever10 -
A dubious victory surely...but I have an ATHLETIC injury. Instead of having aches and pains from being fat I have pain because I may have been running too much.
My right piriformis muscle is both rejoicing and weeping...5 -
@Ultima_Morpha I want to "like" this to acknowledge the weird victory, but I don't want to "like" it because...owwwwww!4

There's some great stretches for the Pirifomis on Youtube @Ultima_Morpha
@NicoleL874 Love the new profile pic!2 -

Yes, thank you, I've been hitting it hard with stretches throughout the day to unfreeze it. We often talk about something being a pain in the butt...this time I literally have a pain in the butt!
@NicoleL874 looks amazing!!!2 -
@anbrdr and @Ultima_Morpha The other photo was from March, about 40lbs ago, the new one is my current fav!2

My wife and I were hugging. Just because we love each other, standing in the kitchen. She wrapped her arms around me and said "I can get my arms all the way around you now." I love her so much!7

My nine year old says that now almost every time she hugs me. I never get tired of hearing it!5 -
Knee high boots. Normal width calf. Slipped right on. Boom.9

Went home to NY to see friends and a lot of my husband's family (family does not know what I did and never will if I can help it) and got the best reactions! came back yesterday afternoon, weighed myself last night and this morning and weight appears to be in check - all while enjoying pizza among other amazing food - SCORE!6
-
Size SIX jeans. SIX? WHAT? (and one size four...total fluke, but I'll take it!)7
-
I weighed in this past Sunday and officially weight less than I have since 1999! Also, chalk it up to different body composition than in the past and different brands, but I am wearing smaller pants than I have since....as far back as I remember paying attention to my pants size.3
