Tuesday, feeling a bit better, ate for a normal low calorie day though I did sculpt and it should have been a high calorie day. BUT, still an improvement over yesterday's calories. I did skip the abs part of sculpt since I didn't want to aggravate my tummy, but all the rest was done.1

Wednesday...snow day...made it half way through my Bum Bum workout before waves of nausea started hitting and I just did some stretching and called it a day in the activity arena...did pretty good on food, a bit over for a low day, but since the previous days in the week were way under I just took it as a good sign that I can finally eat something...mostly just sat around watching Game of Thrones and sewing the poison ivy outfit.0
-
Thursday...food day at work because it's bonus time...then there was an accident on the interstate on the way home, so I didn't bother trying to go home, I just hung out and met up with the husband for an hour of walking...then picked up the girl after her ballet class...we had dinner out at burger king...carbs were way over and calories were over...and I didn't do my strength training because we got home late and I wanted to watch Orville instead.
The only plus from yesterday was that I did eat 8oz of beef...I'm supposed to give blood next Wed and with just having shark week I will probably be too low on iron, so my goal is to eat beef, at least once a day, just to try and counteract that low iron problem.0 -
How'd you feel about The Orville? I'm still shocked about Issac. I did expect something to be up on the planet but not Issac. I think I took it worse than the Doctor. Haha.0
-
I think it's in keeping with his character...the androids are basically amoral and devoid of emotion...when we were watching it I actually predicted the genocide angle prior to it being revealed. They just "do the math"...except...they would not likely choose to expand to a populated world since they know exactly how many empty worlds are available any number of which would have the resources they need to expand without putting their own existence at risk...so, that part was just making them look vengeful and stupid, which they would not be since they are devoid of emotion and frighteningly intelligent.0
-
That...is a very good point. I'm curious how it's going to play out in the next episode though. Do you have any predictions?0

Well, that's a great question...I was disappointed that the AI all looked the same...I would have expected the form to fit the function and there would be different models for different jobs...and then they all seem to be keying into a computer...which also doesn't make sense, if they have a central brain that doesn't look like them, why aren't there other AI versions that don't look like them...and then clearly the doors open (like when that kid snuck into the basement area) and wouldn't that also be basic machinery...why would machines that have essentially freed themselves from slavery, then hold other machines as slaves??? It's a very inconsistently applied kind of logic but in theory, it should all add up.
If you assume the kaylon robots were created for war, that it is inherent in their base programming to dominate others, then it does add up. So, I'm guessing they are after Earth to subjugate organic life (humanity), not so much because they need the resources, or because they even perceive humans as a threat, but because it's part of their base programming to fight and dominate, possibly part of their programming that they don't even pay any attention to because it's just how they were made, not how they evolved as part of their AI learning. They have already defeated their programmed enemy (organic life) on their planet, now they will do the same elsewhere. They seem unable to create alternative versions, they only manufacture themselves exactly as they were originally created. But they are capable of creating new ships? Do those ships follow the existing design of the organic life they wiped out? Does being AI mean total lack of creativity?
Do the ships have pilots, or are the ships the pilots - in a truly efficient AI scenario the ships would pilot themselves and communicate/link to coordinate effectively. But, that doesn't really seem to be the case here. We have a single AI form, that of the Issac model. It has supreme weapons capability, presumably built into it as part of the original design conceived by an organic life form - who would only arm machines for dominating and subjugating other organic life forms on the planet. So we have a whole army of war machines and they need a war, so hey, let's go attack earth.
They really should have killed 100% of the Orville crew prior to leaving the planet to invade Earth. They don't need live organic forms for their invasion, they can learn everything they need from the ship itself. But they didn't, which means that somehow the organic life forms will survive and conquer the AI invasion.
As for how, I'm guessing Issac will deactivate the entire population. Having been deactivated himself and then reactivated, he should understand how that happens, how that signal works, and if he can transmit that "deactivate signal" to the fleet, then it will deactivate everyone else. Or maybe it will deactivate everyone, including him.
They aren't really clear about how the AI all communicate, but they transmit data, they don't talk, so second guess is that somehow the Orville staff figures out how to shut off or interrupt that data transmission, which would leave the AI forms unable to communicate normally and throw them into utter chaos since they aren't familiar with communicating verbally and losing communication in the middle of battle is totally a bad thing.
Will I be right??? To find out, tune in to the next exciting episode of Orville...
...and thank you for visiting my brain!!!0 -
I enjoyed the visit and I think you're going to be right. I'll definitely be tuning in to find out =D0

Friday - I think I got up and did some combat this morning...I can't really remember at this point...after work was happy hour, but I stuck to my planned food and kept calories in line even if I did have a couple drinks and protein was WAY under goal. One day won't hurt. No evening workout, and not much walking.
Saturday - did Sculpt in the morning...then dropped the child at ballet and spent ALL DAY doing b-day party stuff for a friend...it was so much fun helping to decorate and move furniture, and make the party food...plus then I had a couple beers...I didn't log but carbs were surely over and protein was surely low...probably calories was in line because there wasn't a lot of time spent eating, but a lot of time spent enjoying the party and chatting with people.
Sunday - did BumBum in the morning...then spent all day helping my friend pack...she is still not even close to packed up and Friday is moving day...egad...she needs to get on it...I was at least able to help out with a lot of the heavy lifting...we did two loads to goodwill and one load to the dump...finished packing the office, coat closet, and her bedroom shelf and closet...all I ate all day was a sandwich and some chips, then I had a nice bowl of mac & cheese for dinner, and a second bowl of mac with salmon...comfort food for me...but again, probably high on carbs and low on protein.
I need to get back on keto before my migraine symptoms come back, but it's a bit comforting to know that I can take a couple days off without too many issues. My carpal tunnel is being a pain after all the manual labor, but I'll get over it. Friday I'm helping with moving, but Saturday I'm booked, so anything that doesn't get moved Friday will be someone else's to take care of...I'll stay on the Aleve all week (if I remember) and that will help get my wrists back under control.0 -
What do you use to make those calendars? It might be a good way to keep myself on track too.
You did great with working out each day! I wouldn't worry about the carbs on Sunday, you probably burned off most of those. Try to get in more protein today to rebuild those muscles you worked. I hope your wrists feel better soon. I get tendinitis in my elbows so I know how annoying it can be for your arms to rebel after you work out. Definitely keep up with the Aleve!0 -
I make them in Excel, then just copy/past to paint to post them here since you can't post xls files.
I actually have all my workout calendars going back to September 2016 when I started doing them in excel...before that I just did them on paper...crazy me...
I did meet my protein goal today - yay me!!! And I did High & Tight, which was fun...no, it was brutal and hard and my glutes were screaming at me in agony, but that means it was "fun" right??? and I walked, which is always good...and had my 5 year ob/gyn pap done...that's always super "fun" too...<sigh>1 -

Exactly how I feel about yesterday's climbs! Sure, my forearms were locked up and my big toes felt like they were going to fall off, but that's what fun is about right??0 -
Made my protein goal, plus calories in line, but that's pretty easy on a high calorie day...did combat in the morning, walking at lunch, and Sculpt which was super hard but also super satisfying...so...all in all a nearly perfect day!!!0
-
I gave blood today!!!!
Which is totally a free pass to eat whatever I want in my universe...but so far today the food choices have been good...they even had TRAIL MIX as a donation snack...who knew this could happen?!?!?!0 -
That's a great day!0
-
Wednesday...I gave blood...and I actually made good food choices all day...the only workout was walking at lunch, and walking slowly because everything uphill made me woozy...but walking is still enough...then we did taxes...and don't owe, which is nice...then we got home at like 10:30 at night and I was hungry, so I had some leftover hot dogs and mac & cheese that the kids had for dinner...so yum, and totally hit the spot, but it did put me over on my calories a bit and WAY over on my carbs...so, back at it today!!!2
-
Thursday...lots of walking, even fast walking, no other working out since I overslept and the girl had ballet, so we didn't get home until 9pm and I was hungry and tired...however, food was totally on point...and even though I super wanted to snack while watching Orville, I didn't...and I totally nailed Issac deactivating the other Kaylons (and himself)...yay me...I'm still annoyed they didn't do more realistic things with the concepts of AI, but whatever.0

Well crap, I didn't watch last night's episode and I kind of skimmed the post so I just spoiled the episode for myself. haha. I should have known you would talk about it so that's my own fault. Do you think this is the start of the downfall of the series? I feel like series that start really good (which I feel like the Orville did) end up going to crap after a few seasons but maybe that is just the shows I watch. haha. Maybe we'll get new AI next season or perhaps there are still some twist and turns in store for next season. One can hope. I did feel like this season was more predictable which is not always a bad thing but can definitely get boring so I'm hoping they improve next season. Thoughts?0

I have no idea why but I thought that this episode was the season finale. I hope you have a good weekend!0

Friday...oh, Friday was so ugh...helped move my friend, or really, finish up the packing for tomorrow's move which I won't be a part of...but, I didn't eat until after noon, and I wasn't paying attention to SALT or WATER so I almost passed out...as in, had to play chineese fire drill at a stop light because I was going to pass out while driving to get lunch, but instead I sat in the passenger seat with the seat back and my feet up on the dash so I didn't lose consciousness...actually felt terrible a couple times when bending to standing or sitting to standing, anytime blood pressure drops might occur...including about 3 times trying to drive home, but not imminent pass out bad, just felt like racing heartbeat and ick...came home, had water, and salt, and food, and a hot shower, then more food...feeling much better now and no more racing heart episodes...I think it's just because I gave blood and then did a bunch of physical activity on no food and not enough water...let's not do that again...
I didn't do any deliberate exercise, but plenty of activity, and I actually ate all the food I was supposed to eat, so that's cool, a bit over on carbs since I had some coke to help with the nausea, but I can live with that today.0 -
I concur that you should definitely not do that again. Take care of yourself, we need you. *hugs*0

Saturday was another ugh day...or perhaps an all out oof day...everything was fine all morning...got up, had coffee, got the child up and ready to go, got 30 min from home and had to pull over because I was going to pass out while driving AGAIN...so, maybe this is just an unfortunate side effect of giving blood and not related to the physical exertions...anyway, after sitting a while I felt better then decided to head home, only to have it happen again like 5 min down the road...ended up calling my parents to rescue me and take me and my car home...it was an eventful morning...then I spent the day having salt and water and peeing a lot, so totally not dehydrated, but still randomly hit with fainting episodes...had my son drive me to the grocery and had to sit down outside near the cart return because I was about to pass out just from walking across the parking lot...oy vey...so no more driving for me this weekend, I will keep up the salt and the water and maybe, just maybe I can drive myself to work on Monday...0
-
Sunday - no fainting episodes - yay me!!!!
I got up and had a yogurt and some salt and water...then did combat...lunch was mac & pork...dinner was mac & beef...so far no migraines, but I figured the carbs were better than fainting...I even fixed part of the ditch line around the driveway and did some of my bum bum workout this evening...
I think I'm all set for work tomorrow, and I'm no longer worried that I might faint on the way!!!0 -
Fainting episodes started again this morning...heading to the dr at 2...there has to be some kind of medication to combat low blood pressure, right???0
-
Doctor says mild dehydration (after 100+ oz of water, don't even know how that's possible) and possible anemia...blood was drawn...I feel worse after having coffee and after eating...so maybe I just won't eat or won't have coffee tomorrow...I could opt for green tea...don't know about skipping meals, that might make the fainting worse...in any case, nothing serious, if I have any heart symptoms go to the ER, but otherwise keep treating by sitting/laying and elevating feet and not driving.
How am I going to know when I'm ok to drive?0 -
I'm sorry you're dealing with this. When will you get the blood results back?0
-
Monday - not fun, fainting episodes from 9:30 am until about 3pm...then everything was fine...I have been having less salt and plain water and more powerade and gatorade and electrolyte drinks...I already drink too much water for it to be a plain fluid issue, but I suppose an electrolyte imbalance would prevent the retention of fluid maybe??? So, focusing more on getting those, and adding pink salt to them instead of sea salt for the extra minerals.
My parents had to rescue me from work since it wasn't safe to drive, and my mother played taxi in my car driving to ballet, and the mall, and then to get the child a snack before going home...husband is finally home, so now I have him for a taxi.
Test results should be in this afternoon so I'll keep an eye on those since I can access them online once the dr reviews and releases them...already had beef for dinner last night and more beef tonight, and even more beef on Thursday...so also working to combat the potential anemia.
Not going to work Tuesday, woke up lightheaded and just super super tired even after plenty of sleep, so staying home and resting...I do think I'll make him drive me to costco to stock up on water and gatorade later.0 -
I hope you feel better today and the test shows something easy to treat! Definitely get that rest, you need it.0
-
I hope the rest helps and that you're feeling better!0
-
Tuesday was nice, I slept most of the day, hard not to enjoy a day like that. I did have beef hot dog (no bun) and beef chili for lunch, plus steak for dinner...getting kind of tired of cow all the time...lots of lightheaded feelings and just generally feeling ick, but no actual fainting episodes, so that's some improvement at least. Test results are in - iron deficiency without anemia, and slightly low red blood cell count...both likely from giving blood, so just rest, stay hydrated, eat iron rich foods, etc...basically, I gave blood and my body is just struggling to recover...all the other tests were totally normal, like boringly normal, smack in the middle of all the expected ranges normal.
So, I'm not going to work out or drive the rest of the week, if all goes well I'll resume workouts next Tuesday...I'll keep the walking but slow the pace...and other than that I'll just rest and get plenty of water and electrolyte drinks. I will take the rest of the year off from giving blood...I've been donating about every 50 days for like 20 years, so maybe my body has just had enough, and I'm getting older so I don't think it's totally a surprise that I don't bounce back physically as fast as I used to...when I do resume donation I will space it out more and just donate 3-4 times a year instead of every 50 days...with any luck that will prevent this sort of nonsense from repeating.
On the plus side, I did keto yesterday for the first time since giving blood and I did not have a headache this morning, so it seems like the migraine suppressing benefits kicked in right away, and that's nice because I didn't feel safe taking anything for the headache since pain killers are generally also blood thinners, and I didn't want to be off keto long enough for a full blown migraine.0
