Welcome to our September monthly challenge!
This month we're doing "Step-It-Up"
Choose whatever it is in your life that requires you to "step up" your effort to improve your health and/or fitness.
Every week we'll have a thread to talk about our goals, progress, life stuff, and to encourage one another.
Go ahead and post your goal for this month.
I'll plop a stickie at the top of the group for easy access should the thread get buried.
This is your challenge.
The bad news is: You are the ONLY one who can make positive changes happen in your life.
The good news? YOU are the only one who CAN make positive changes happen in your life. You have that power. Believe it.
And make it happen.
Get to steppin'!
This month we're doing "Step-It-Up"
So we are going to focus on a goal we've let slack a bit. Some people might go literal and try to increase step count (walking) or ramp up exercise frequency or intensity. Or maybe someone has been letting good habits slide a little bit.increase the amount, speed, or intensity of something.

I don't have a step counter thingy...I shall carry a notebook and tally my steps! Everyone pray I don't awkwardly walk into the street counting, or get thrown into the loony bin.
All jokes aside...today I'm going to put in at least thirty minutes of focused exercise.

I have a Fitbit. My goal is to hit 10,000 steps a day.5

STEPPIN' IT UP!
if you have a smartphone there are a bunch of apps that work to track steps too, might not be 100% accurate but the trackers aren't either.

My step it up goal: to stick with this reboot I started August 22nd. Works perfectly as I am expecting my folks into town September 29th.
Starting weight: I will check this afternoon after I have slept (night shifter here)

I'd almost rather count myself, I'm just THAT dorky.
I'm so anti-phone dependency that the whole app thing would be a waste. There's no way I'm carrying my stupid phone around with me, just to maybe count my steps inaccurately.5 -
I've been Steppin it up or at least trying too, literally, to get 20K steps a day. I was successful last week but only during the work week, so for the September challenge I'm going to try to achieve that goal everyday, not just during the work week. I'm going to actually update the goal on my fitbit too instead of setting it at 10k and being an overachiever1
-
I have a very aggressive workout schedule for September, I'm going to step-it up and hit all those workouts!!!3
-
If anyone wants to add me on fitbit http://www.fitbit.com/user/3D522L1

My goal is to hit the steps my Vivosmart HR gives me. I'll be taking L'il Ringbearer to Uni in Glasgow next week so it will be good to have an outside goal to focus on.2
-
Ok, my Sept. goal is to lose 2 lbs this month. I've been sitting on a plateau and looking down for a full month. Will carefully watch the carb/cal intake and if need be try 16/8 IF, perhaps twice a week.5

No phone... no tunes
Keep it simple a timer & music apps.

I need to step up my workouts again. I was good until classes started, but now time has gotten constrained. So. I need to get up in the mornings and hit the gym before work!!2
-
I freaking LOVE your name @FaeryChaos! Anywho.....
I am stepping up my movement. I rarely hit 10,000 on the Fitbit these days. I only average about 4700 a day right now but I know I can easily walk 5 miles at a time. I just need to prioritize it and do it. So my goal is 20 miles a week.2 -
I am stepping it up by doing a 30 day plank challenge. Want to lose 5 lbs this month.4
-
I'll step up my steps too I work 5 days a week at an 18 acre cemetery. I usually hit around 7000 no problem. I'll put in the extra work to hit 10,000 everyday in September. Go team!!4
-
I need to step it up in all ways!! I want to get back on track with food preparation, actually paying attention to macros & calories, as well as hitting my activity goals. I have dropped the ball over the summer months in many ways and it is time to hit it hard!2

nice! I was thinking about this too, we had a thread back in February doing the 30 day plank challenge. sadly I pushed too hard part way through and started down a path of pain and injury for a bit but I'm back in tip top shape now so it would be fun to do again2 -
STEPPIN' IT UP! .....borrowed from SuperC Lori : )
I am going to get at least 4 days of HIIT in ,on the gym bike at work. It will help my BG # if I break it up into a couple of 15 min sets... maybe throw in a 30 at lunch..
Best wishes everyone!

My Steppin' it Up goal is to walk twice a day rather than once. I have no specific amount of time I want to do on each, but my morning walk is about 30 minutes so if I add even 15 minutes in the late afternoon/evening, that will be good. And if its more, that will be good, too.1
-
My stepping it up is to start exercising. I have passed 30lbs off now so time to Step Up my efforts!3

I am in.
Learn to use our TRX system for strength training.
Get into the 150s this month.
Get my daily steps average back to 10K. I've been letting that slide, which big step counts about once a week and mediocre ones the rest of the week.2 -
Mine is to hit all of the goals set for me on my watch and eat the way my doc has told me.
30 minutes of exercise
550 calories burned per day
10,000 steps a day at the least
So here we go!!! We can do this!1 -
Since moving to the new place, my step count has seriously taken a hit! Went from 13,000+ daily average to roughly 6000!
So my goal is to hit 10,000 daily.
My other step it up goal is to drink at least 1500 ml of water daily, as my water intake had taken a serious nose dive too.2 -
I'm in!
I'm close to goal; just joined a gym and they analyzed my bf as 27%. My ultimate goal is 20, but I'll be happy with 1% loss a month at the same weight. (CW 153.8)
My step it up goal is to get to the gym at least 5 days a week. I'm meeting my new trainer twice a week, so that's just three days a week I have to make it there on my own.1 -
I am stepping up my macro game!!! I have been slacking big time in August so September is going to be back on keto and focused on my protein!

Thanks for this challenge-I'm in!
Last week I crept up to the high end of my maintenance weight (darn you HWC and just eyeballing it!), so this month will be spent making more of an effort with measuring and weighing food items. Just can't trust the eyes!
Also I will continue with my daily 12,000 steps (15,000 steps on the 3 days I work). Unfortunately, I am suffering the after effects of stomach flu so I probably won't make it today. I'll try to eek out 10,000 though and call it good.1 -
I'm still lurking around and going to commit to Stepping it up. I've been a complete slacker - to the tune of a 14 pound regain.. Between the carbs and the ice cream it's been a crazy couple of months.
9.1. Here we go. More walks and working out, carb control, being accountable and eating and drinking less.

Bacon has started wooing me into earlier fast breaks, so this month I am going to step up cardio (desk cycle or trike) at my current intensity for 30 minutes each morning (instead of when I feel like it), then at the next higher intensity setting in the late afternoon, after a mid-afternoon breakfast, at a one minute increase each day. I have a lot of knee damage (hence trike, not bike), so the month-end goal of one hour of cardio each day will hopefully be a good, gradual step up. My accountability tool will be posting the time of my morning pedaling, breakfast, and afternoon desk cycling each day.
Challenge recap:
Morning 30-min cycling each day
Return to mid-afternoon breakfast
One-minute increase of afternoon desk cycling at higher intensity each day up to 30 additional minutes.1 -
Whoo hoo! Love this challenge. I am going to aim for 3 workouts a week of at least 30 minutes and walking the in between days at least a mile (hopefully shaving time each week). My fitness goal is to be able to complete this workout! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM-Z3axdxUg&index=11&list=PLZnXrkQ3gnrcRytgksSSCFNJmGJtgatXG
I'm also doing a SCALE LESS CHALLENGE for my FB group (Ketogenic Success if anyone is interested ) so no weighing for me but I will be measuring and taking pics3 -
My step it up goal to hit 12k steps a day. My unofficial goal is to drop #5 in September, but since weight loss has been so slow I don't want to doom myself.1
