Today's meal. Felt like breakfast for dinner. Today - Friday this week are my vegetarian days. I added Friday since I had meat yesterday for the holiday.

    9olljmndi1ha.jpg
Pancakes with sugar free syrup, 3 egg scramble with potatoes, spinach, eggs, onions, and cheese, and chocolate kale shake

I took the picture after I realized my first picture didn't take and I had eaten some of the meal.

Looks scrumptious. Looks like it would be good to make 3 or 4 side dishes on the first day and just scoop out a portion of each for 3-4 days. My dad used to cook Armenian for us. One vegetarian dish was 'kiftas' it was bulgar wheat (soaked overnight in water to soften it- all the water would be absorbed), tomato paste, lots of olive oil, finely chopped green peppers, onions and lots of finely chopped parsley. Allspice, salt and pepper. It's all cold and you put it in a huge bowl and knead-knead-knead it all together, then form it into large meatball shape. It's delishhhhh.

Tonight's meal. More carbs than I cared for but someone fixed food for us. It was quick to just put on my plate and eat. I did make the salad though. My husband made the wafer pudding (banana pudding without the bananas).

OK so since it is my birthday, and I was fixing breakfast for my boys, I decided I would have a birthday breakfast. I will be eating dinner around 5:30 so that will make two meals for my birthday. Here is what I had for my birthday breakfast.

    64911ibebt1a.jpg
Banana walnut pancakes with sugar free syrup, scrambled eggs (2) with cheese, and sausage. I also had a cup of coffee.

Looking at this breakfast and it would be a typical sized and calorie range breakfast for me, I can see how I got to be overweight. When I put this breakfast in MFP it registered 827 calories. My dinner tonight will most likely be around 1000+ calories. If I were to eat lunch it would be in the same calorie range. So easily with snacks in between meals, I could see where I could consume nearly 3000 calories a day. Following OMAD keeps me from this type of scenario and I am not deprived at all and don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

Happy Birthday to you! Yes...those calories creep up on you. I was consistently putting on 2-3 pounds a year. In my mind I thought I must be miss piggy and couldn't control myself. Then I figured out what three pounds a year equated to....Well...there are 365 days in a year and if you overate by 100 calories a day that would = 365X100=36,500 calories which is a just over 10 pounds a year ( takes 3500 calories to put on or take of a pound)....so me gaining 3 pounds a year meant I was eating 30 calories a day too many for me. Our bodies are the ultimate personal calculators and just a few calories not 'spent' on any day add up to pounds a year. UHHHH....
Hope you have a terrific birthday weekend :)

Woke up this morning to a scale that read 157.1 pounds which is a 4.2 pound gain in two days. Before I would have freaked out big time at seeing this size gain in a two day period but thanks to my fellow OMADers sharing their journeys, I am assured that the gain is not "real" fat gain and will be gone very soon. I did enjoy my birthday weekend and am ready to get back to normal.

You are correct. It would take a minimum of 4.2x3500 = 14,700 kcals over your TDEE in two days to put on that much fat. You sure ate well if you did that it two days! I'ts not fat like you said, just give it a few days and most if not all will be gone.

I will be having a repeat of yesterday's meal minus the cornbread and banana pudding and some cream of broccoli soup so no picture today. I packed up the greens, cabbage, and candied yams and am getting the soup from the cafeteria at work today. I will be eating my meal between noon and 1:00pm

I am also changing up things to where I drink my wheatgrass juice (8 calories) in the morning before I leave for work. Have my meal between noon and 1:00pm and then drink my chocolate kale shake (155 calories) after I get home from work around 5:00pm. Not adding any additional foods just changing up the times I eat what I currently eat.

The only thing I may add is drinking juice with ACV with my midday meal.

    What are your thoughts?

With my 4 days of vegetarian meals, I guess I am now what you call an advanced flexitarian (flexible vegetarian). The advanced flexitarian has 3 or 4 meatless days and the other days where meat is allowed. My vegetarian days are Monday-Thursday and my meat allowed days are Friday - Sunday.
