Thanks guys!! I have packed a scale before too... I travel carry-on only now though, so it's not an option. I was toying with the idea of calling down to the front desk to ask if they have any - already had to get a fridge sent up for my supply of sparkling water. Fewer and fewer hotels are including fridges by default in the rooms now...
Oh goodness, really?! I don't think I've ever been to a hotel that doesn't have one
Sorry babe! At least they brought you one!0 -
I totally forgot to weigh today - need to get back into the habit now I'm home... Tomorrow!!0

Well, I appear to have maintenance sorted!!
To be honest I have been so busy at work, plus the jet lag, that I haven't been paying much attention to my food or exercise. I worked all day yesterday (Saturday) and will probably do at least half a day today if I can get myself sufficiently motivated - that's what I get for taking a few days off last week!!
My jet lag is getting better, my wake up time was 5am this morning, which is my usual time - much better than the 1am times earlier in the week. I've been having a hard time getting my eating window back to its normal time too - I've been eating earlier than usual and for longer too - I've been pushing the time back every day though, today it will hopefully finally be back to normal.
I've also realized how dependent I've become on the meal delivery service - that will start back up again tomorrow, thank goodness! I think I probably ate 6 cheese and hot sauce quesadillas on Thursday night - just because they were easy and I have clearly totally lost the skill of meal planning. Not very healthy, that's for sure.
Of course, I'm going to be repeating this whole travel/jet lag thing all again in about 3 weeks when I head off to Colorado for our annual company retreat. The sooner someone invents a transporter like on Star Trek, the better!

Sarah....you never get used to the jet lag. I was a flight attendant for 10 years. I flew between Miami and Paris once a week. I would fall into a deep black hole after each leg. Just got cold here in Colorado today. Let's see if this is the beginning of cool-cooler-coolest weather.0

You travel a lot it sounds like. Sounds like fun except the jet lag.0

Kat, I didn't know that you were based in Miami at one point! Cool
Sarah, it's so awesome that you were able to maintain! I almost always gain when I'm traveling. Great job!0 -

I have some strategies that work fairly well, but would agree with you that it's not something that you can just work around - it's a thing and the only solution is time and sleep!
Uh-oh - a bit scared of how cold it's going to be in Colorado - bringing my warmest clothes for sure! I grew up in Winnipeg Canada, so you'd think I'd be ok with cold, but I haven't lived there since 1999, and I'm totally acclimated to a humid sub-tropical climate. I was actually cold a lot of the time when I was in San Diego - though that was probably more because of the ridiculously cold A/C that everyone seems to pump out in the USA! Palm Springs was much more my cup of tea!You travel a lot it sounds like. Sounds like fun except the jet lag.
I travel long distance for work, far too often. It is fun mostly, yes, and also the only way I see my work colleagues face to face, which is invaluable. Also, since I started bringing Darcy along for many of the trips, it's much more enjoyable (though hard too as he gets a holiday but I don't!).

I know - I've NEVER not gained while traveling. Never!0 -
ya Sarah...you gotta basically slap yourself silly to make yourself stay up till the proper bed time in whatever time zone you're in. If I laid down for a short snooze when I got somewhere like Europe from the States ...then I would blow it and not be able to wake up for 5 hours...then I was totally messed up for that night. 3 hour time change is no big deal but the 6-7-8...hard.
Weather here changes on a dime. Usually very sunny and hardly ever a cloud. Maybe dress in layers because you never know...could be hot could be freezy cold. The best thing ever invented are those super light weight puffy coats/ jackets. You don't get hot and you don't get cold
Britt...born at Mercy hospital in Miami...but lived my growing up/ school years in France. Lived in Kendale Lakes before coming to Colorado.

Hopefully I get back to losing soon! I knew my weight would be up today though as I had a giant bowl of super salty popcorn last night (along with about 5 tbs peanut butter and an apple, half a cold roast potato, 2 flour tortillas, lots of cheese, tomatoes, a cucumber and other random stuff I can't remember) so I predicted I'd gain a bunch of water weight. It is annoying though, to see that Trendweight now has my goal weight as not happening until 2019!!!!
Back to the meal delivery service today, so that will help with eating actual food rather than just random whatever I can lay my hands on when I walk into the kitchen type food! Also back to my proper weekly routine. Darcy went back to work today, so I don't have him home distracting me either.

Btw, Darcy gained a bit of weight when we were away and he is now skipping breakfast and trying to do 18:6 intermittent fasting. This is from the guy who was worried that me doing OMAD was unhealthy when I started. Love it! I think he really noticed how much I ate (lots!) and drank (lots!) and didn't stress about food while we were away and still stayed the same weight.
I weighed pretty much the same as him when I started back in May - now I'm at least 8kgs lighter... That makes me super happy. I actually look skinny (though clearly there are angles in my favor in this pic, but we shall ignore that!) standing next to him now (pic from last week at some bar somewhere in the Palm Springs area):

Awesome picture!!! So glad your good habits are rubbing off!!!0

You all are super cute!!!
And that's awesome that he is picking up on it! I keep trying to get mine to join me on the vegan side, but his response is always "but bacon..."0 -

Yeah, mine is fine eating whatever is put in front of him (e.g. total vegetarian at home!) but he quite often orders a steak sandwich when we are out... He doesn't even like meat that much - he always orders it "super well done almost burnt" when we are out. I don't understand why he even bothers!1 -
Cute couple!0

Very nice pic!0

Thanks guys!0

Colorado at this time of year can be tricky. My sister used to live in Boulder, and I noticed that during fall visits, I could wake up with snow on the ground, but that by afternoon is could be 75 degrees. Plan for both warm and cold0

Sacrilege! LOL! As they say, may as well get a burger if you're gonna have well-done steak0

Yikes! I hope no snow - I've had enough snow in my life to last several lifetimes!!!0 -
Very happy to see a drop on the scale today! We had a yummy cauliflower and cashew biryani from the meal service last night. I also had tomatoes, apple and peanut butter, a carrot and a salad.

It might be pushing it, but I'd love to be at or under 170 by the time I leave for the US on Oct 13. That's close to 3 weeks away, so definitely doable.0
-
Go for it, it is doable and I believe you can do it.0
-
YOU GOT THIS BABE! I'm shooting for 170 or under by Oct 21st and you're a solid 4-5 pounds ahead of me! Nice loss btw ( PS biryani )0
-
Thanks for the encouragement guys - I can totally do it!!0
-
You can do it!!!! Great drop!0

So I had an epiphany while I was walking the dogs just now.
I realised that, because of the way I do OMAD (no restriction other than one "meal" and eating until I'm satiated) I have no control over how fast or slow I lose weight. So even if I say I'd like to reach x weight by y date, there is nothing I can do to get there. Well I technically could restrict to make myself lose faster, but then this becomes like every other diet I've ever been on, and probably doomed to fail. This is likely not true for everybody, but the very thing that makes this sustainable for me, is the lack of restriction, deprivation etc.
So, I've decided that I need to NOT say that I want to reach x weight by y date and just see what happens. I guess it's all part of learning to let go and just trust the process.
Of course, all the above is me talking when I've not hit a plateau or really had anything go wrong with the process! Once I get closer to goal, it will be interesting to see what happens. But I'd really like NOT to ever have to think about anything other than WHEN I can eat, rather than WHAT and/or HOW MUCH I can eat. Of course I do think about WHAT because I like to eat healthy food as it makes me feel good - this is different than thinking about WHAT because I want to lose weight. So many thoughts!0
