    I made these: https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/no-bake-energy-bites/
Good grief they are good! I spent $50 at Fresh Market buying all new ingredients for it, lol. But I only used a small portion of the ingredients. I may have purchased a bottle of wine as well.

I added it as a recipe in MFP and it says if you make 22 balls they are 120 calories each. Of course, I can eat 10! But, they are a non-processed food! LOL

My weight dropped 2 this morning. No reason - I drank wine last night and ate 2 of the above mentioned balls.
So now I'm happy with the number. Obviously I look the same to everyone, it's all in my damn head!

    What are we eating today?

I'm T minus 14 minutes to my last exam. I think I'm set for a B in this class, really perturbed that it's not a guaranteed A. We'll see, maybe I'll kill this final.

Coffee here. No lunch plans. DH is off today, but I need to make it a light day. I had grilled cheese and pizza yesterday. Surely I can get with the do better.

@ddmom0811 - yum those look delicious!

We decided to go wine tasting today. I am pretty exhausted from all my workouts yesterday (run, PT and strength training**) so it is a good day to call for a rest day. We need some wine for gifts and want to try some new to us wineries in Temecula, south of us.

I had my typical Greek yogurt and granola for breakfast and have no idea what lunch or even dinner will be. Lunch will likely be at one of the wineries and dinner depends on if we eat there and wait for traffic to subside or come home and eat.

ETA - @elise4270 - hope you kill that final! No issues with a B but I am sure you can rock it for the A!!

** I have to mention that I told my trainer that I was already tired coming into the gym having run a fast 4 miles then gone to PT which is a real glute, hip, quad workout. He said ok we will focus on upper body which we did, sort of... if you ignore the RDLs and pushups to mountain climbers (after these I was literally in a puddle on the floor with arms and legs shaking). Doing pushups after a mostly upper body work and the added time in that position doing the legs which were also already tired was just cruel 🥴

Thanks @LoveyChar ! I’ll buy the scrubs retail since they are strict on the color needed. But if by chance lose “too much”, I’ll donate them. I noticed you aren’t too far from me, I’m in southern OK. It’s cold today and windy. Are you in the heath care field? I saw in the running thread that you are an Aggie.. I can’t remember the degree though.

The scale is still tattling on my eating habits. Ugh. So I set new goals to cut calories. Today wasn’t bad. I still ate poor choices: dates, frito cheese dip and chips, and noosa. I’m not under calories like I wanted, but if I can resist eating anything else pushing me over, it’ll be a start. I have managed almost a liter of water today. Usually no water but canned bubbly water. I told dh I had to have bottled water, no way I can drink out of a cup or the tap, fridge, nor big water cooler water that tastes like lake dirt. So if it gets me to drink water, I’m going to be a water snob.

How do you all do your water?

I'm not in the healthcare field, currently, but I worked as a nurse's aide before school for several years and even after I graduated I still changed diapers for older autistic children in the classroom as an aide. I've changed thousands of diapers for babies, children, and adults and I've worn scrubs for many years. I accumulated quite a cute collection of them.

As far as water, I just use a water filter pitcher and pour, basically, tap water into a glass. Nothing fancy for me.

As far as books go, I will always choose an ebook over paper, especially for school or even renting books is nice. You use them, then get rid of them.

I ate like a horse yesterday. I was doing so well all month then binged pretty hard yesterday. Then after all that random binging, I ate fettuccini alfredo. So today, I'm trying to eat lighter. I've just had beans, rice, chips, and two sweet potatoes and I think I'm done for today.

@Elise4270 Yippppeeeeee! I agree. You deserve Mexican! Congratulations!!!

Hope your wine tasting went well, @shanaber . That workout sounds brutal!

I ate weird today. Had my usual egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast (1 slice of bread). I worked today, so had leftovers from what the daycare kids ate for lunch - a very small piece of a roast beef sub, 1/2 cup of vegetable soup, and some pineapple. I worked until 5, but had to be back by 5:30 to change clothes and help with their Christmas program. So, I went to a nearby Dollar Store, bought some cashews, and ate about 1/3 of the container (small). I was really hungry. Didn't get home until about 7:40. I logged as best I could my food and really didn't have enough calories left for Kashi cereal with berries, as I had hoped. So, I just ate a piece of cheese instead.

Yay!! @Elise4270!!! Congratulations! All your hard work paid off nicely!
I have a couple of nice hydro flask water bottles that I fill with filtered water from the fridge. I really like that I can put ice in them and it stays cold all day and longer. I drink canned sparkling water from Costco. I have tried lots of them and it is my favorite. I also buy Smart Water in bottles for in the car because they are easier. I drink A Lot of water and take it with me everywhere.

We went wine tasting and had a great time. We started with lunch at a restaurant at one of our favorite wineries and sat out on the patio since we had Hobbes with us. I had a salad with chicken, grapes, pecans and bleu cheese. They even have a menu for the dogs so Hobbes had grilled chicken with peanut butter 😁 It was a gorgeous day to sit outside. Then we drove around to some small wineries we had never been to that were also dog friendly and tasted lots of wines and chatted with lots of very friendly people. Hobbes is exhausted from all the interactions and had too many treats from everyone. It was just a great day. Even though we were sharing tastings so really just a small taste of each wine, I am sure I had too much and not enough to eat. By the time we got home none of us were particularly hungry and we just blew off dinner. Dh ended up having a bowl of cereal and I had some leftover mac&cheese.

@shanaber That sounds like a great day! Glad that Hobbes was able to go with you everywhere you went. That's fantastic. Sadly, we don't have very many dog friendly places around here.

Oh, I almost forgot. I am back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight this morning!!!! Yay me!!! Just in time for 4 Christmas events where I'm sure to eat things I shouldn't. But, at least I'm starting from a low point and not at an elevated one. I'm happy with that and know that after the New Year I can lose whatever I gain over the next couple of weeks. So, I'm going to enjoy and feel no guilt!

    @quilteryoyo - great on weight!
@shanaber - that sounds so fun and you certainly deserve a rest day! I love a bowl of cereal for dinner sometimes!
Hobbes must have loved it! I love sparkling water but a month ago or so, I noticed it really caused my stomach to bloat. It just happened once so I could try it again but it was so unbelievably uncomfortable that I didn't want to risk it again. When did you have your Invisalign braces? I'm wondering how the heck I can drink wine. Take a glass, guzzle it, brush and put the devices back in my mouth? Also I usually have a hot tea on the drive to school and it seems like I can't do that either. Maybe I am taking dentist too literally. I get them in about a month - had the impressions the other day.

I had a five mile run today and I ate 4 of those energy balls I mentioned. They are too good. Another thing that might be too dangerous to have on hand.

Busy day today -need to get a tree and someone is picking up the old bedroom furniture and dining room so the entire living room is filled with clothes again! This time from the drawers not the closet. It will be so nice when this is done! Tuesday the new stuff is delivered and so T/W night I can put everything away and we will be close to done!
(Other than the office - new floors in January. And then our master bathroom which will be a huge project in a few months).

@ddmom0811 I have a hawley retainer (old school) for the top teeth and a vacuum retainer (like Invisalign) for the bottom. ya, if it comes out no way I’m putting that back I’m my mouth. My Ortho’s office suggested washing it with antibacterial soap so I’ll just wash it in the bathroom, even regular soap is okay as long as you get a good rinse. I know you’ll be out of the trays before you need to do a vinegar soak, which helps with any build up or odors. But keep that in mind for the retainer.

Or is the concern staining? I had a coworker that was an avid tea drinker and his teeth stained. But nothing a regular cleaning won’t undo or whitening treatment. I had another coworker with poor oral hygiene and he had them... yuck.

    Food
Poor. Chick-fil-A must have an abundance of new kids. Dh said they struggled this AM. So I got a biscuit instead of the English muffin sandwich. Tasted wonderful though. Then Pringle’s and Pizza.

Still trying to do better. Someday...

@Elise4270 You are so sweet... I appreciate when people are respectful and understanding of what a hard job it is for anyone in fast food. Impatient people with bad attitudes and no respect irk me to no avail. Why do you have to be an A-hole?!?Over a burger or fries or a soda, or whatever?!? My seventeen year old daughter works in fast food, I've done it, and even my husband did it up until a few years ago when he was looking for an accounting job. Seriously. He has a master's degree in accounting but it took so long for him to find a job after he graduated and even after he got his job it took him a few years to work his way up. That's life. No complaints. Life is good!

@ddmom0811 There's a Cover Girl commercial on TV with this much older lady who says, "they say when you get to a certain age, you just stop caring...well I'd like to know what age that is..." I love the commercial because as women I do think most of us care, although, to what degree it's different. My aunt, my mom's twin, had a ton of plastic surgery. Face lifted, eyebrows and under eyeliner tattooed, lips fuller, got teeth veneers, had a tummy tuck, butt lifted. I'm sure I'm missing some of the work she had done. My mom gave her the hardest time. I thought it was great that she would do that for herself, if it meant that much to her to look and feel better or a certain way. Anyway, the point of is that I'd do all of that stuff if I had the money. My dentist recommended getting my teeth fixed but I declined. I just have one tooth that protrudes. I had braces and a retainer and I haven't worn one in 25ish years and teeth shift back to where they originally were if you don't wear a retainer. Anyway, I am sure you will have a beautiful smile. It's so important to feel confident.

@LoveyChar ya I can’t imagine getting angry over someone making a mistake in earnest, especially fast food. Growing up we at what we got or not at all. So usually no matter to me. And your right, no reason to be an a hole over it.

I think the older women “not caring”, like attitudes and being out spoken? Or not caring that they “let themselves go”? I think there is a point you start to put more effort toward yourself, less on kids, husband/partner, and make self investments. I’m not opposed to cosmetic surgery. If you can do it.. oh I gotta go... but I had a tummy tuck and would do it all over again. And do fillers as I can afford.

@ddmom0811 - I have been in the retainers (maintenance) now for almost a year. The actual Invisalign trays I only had to use for 6 months. It is a pain but I took them out every time I ate or drank anything other than water and then I would brush or at least rinse well until I could brush and put them back in. They told me absolutely no toothpaste or other soaps on the braces because they can scratch and/or absorb the soaps. So mostly brushing (separate tooth brush) with water. My dentist also had me get denture cleaner (the fizzy stuff) from Costco and use it once a week or so to clean them. I still do that with the retainers and he puts them in the autoclave when I get my teeth cleaned.

I would love to get some 'work' done... (chin, neck, tummy 'leftovers' from weight loss) but I just can't justify the cost. We probably have the money but there are too many other things I would rather do with it. I do have to say though that I stopped wearing makeup a long time ago when I was working from home. I would if I went out or was traveling for work. But it irritated my skin and eyes (even Clinique) so it just wasn't worth it for being at home. Now being retired it is a rare occasion like going to a party or out with friends where I don't have to have it on for very long. I don't think you ever stop caring about how you look. Even the 86yo lady we help take care of had her eyebrows tattooed on and wears a wig whenever she goes out or anyone (other than dh and me) comes over.

We are finishing up our outdoor decorations today, making the final batch of cookies and putting boxes together to be mailed off to family and friends on Monday. Oh and watching football and doing laundry and fitting in my PT exercises somewhere. I am going to make another batch of chili in the IP/crockpot.

Food - I am doing ok but trying to figure out how I can kickstart losing some weight again without eating too little for my activity level. I seem to be stuck again and I really want to lose even just 5lbs would be nice, 10lbs would be great and 20 would be even better. I am going over to the new temporary gym tomorrow and get signed up so I can hopefully start some classes. I figure giving my body a different movement challenge should be good for it too.

It's a makeup commercial and she's basically saying that she still cares what she looks like even though she's not "young." I just like the commercial because I think people put too much emphasis on youth, but there is so much beauty in older women as well. I was looking at pictures of myself last night, frown lines and crow's feet and I can still find beauty in myself. I say this as a 40 something with two teenage daughters, one of which loves to call me old. My youngest asked what we were doing for my birthday and I said pizza and movies at home and my other daughter said, "she's old! Old people don't like to go out." She's lucky I think she's funny...and we did go out to eat on my birthday months ago. I would so have a tummy tuck, yes I would! I don't have anything to tuck right now, though, and I never got a single stretch mark. It's a nice commercial, though. It's nice to see older women modelling. And there is so much I would do if I had the extra money!

I personally am having a hard time looking older. I think it reminds me of my mother, who I don't want to be like or from just being called ugly as a kid But I see lines on other women and think it's flattering and a badge of wisdom. Part of me can't wait to look like them/ but I don't like it. I am envious of women that are comfortable with their looks. I can't seem to get there.

I have twins and even with the first one I had terrible stretch marks. 18 years after the twins I got the TT. 10.5 inches of skin was removed. I also had separated ab muscles that were repaired. I'd like to have a boob reduction or preventative mastectomy if i only could get DH on board. As a man, no way. Boobs are too important to looking female I guess. I've hated them since I was 14.

@loveychar - sounds like a good commercial! And reminds me of my mom.

My mom has had a few surgeries over the last 20 years or so. She always looks good (she wouldn't go out in sweats and without make up -- EVER). Last December when I visited my mom we went out to dinner with a childhood friend of mine (someone I had not seen in 30+ years). She knew my mom growing up and she something like this to her "you were always the most glamorous person I ever knew". A few years ago t I visited another childhood friend and she said something very similar about my mom. She went on and on about how gorgeous she was and all the dads liked her. (they did?!) And that sums her up! It was a little hard growing up with someone so beautiful. Especially because she is only 17 years older than me and from the time I was 11 we looked like sisters (her, the pretty one - lol). I told my mom I was getting Invisalign and she asked me how much are they, she wants them too! That's pretty cool for someone in her 70s! I hope she gets them too! We can commiserate!

@elise4270 - I know my mom really struggled with aging. Her husband is quite a few years older than her and they moved to a retirement community when she was in her early 50s and then she felt young again! I have been okay with aging (I'm 58 now! I can't believe that myself!). I think the thing that is frustrating me the most is my hair thinning. Because I am now in better shape than I was for most of my adult life, I feel good about my age. Wish I'd discovered how good I would feel being in shape much earlier in life!

I just had an RXBar for a snack - Mint Chocolate. It's like chewing a hard piece of stale bubblegum that eventually you can swallow. Burned 50 calories chewing it I think! LOL Hopefully it holds me over till lunch.
I felt really hungry on my run this morning. Weird to feel stomach hunger while running. Rarely happens to me. I was at a party last night with cycling friends and I guess I didn't eat enough dinner. When we got home it was close to 9 and I was so tired I just wanted to go to sleep.

Re: the Invisalign - I guess my main fear is starving (which is stupid -I'm obviously not going to starve!!!)
But wearing it 22 hours and only ever having cold water when they are in...? I am thinking of things such as the party last night. We got there at 5pm and left around 8:30. And I had two glasses of wine from about 5-8 and was snacking on appetizers and then dinner during that time as well. That wouldn't work with Invisalign. I am sure I will work it out. Mine are supposedly for one year. It will be worth it though!

@ddmom0811 you definitely look great for any age!

I wonder if the lack of running has contributed to my exacerbated “old-ness”? And having hip issues is overwhelmingly associated with age. I can’t tell you how many times I hear “... but you are so young”, or “you are not old enough to have hip problems “. Yes I’m making it up. Then I have to share that is a birth defect which leaves them puzzled because still, only old people and polio survivors have hip problems. When I was running even regular short distances I didn’t feel this old. I should make a true and honest effort at the bike, or swim.

My dd won’t go out in grubby, lazy clothes, without makeup and hair fixed. Even if we go walk. I’m the opposite. Exam day? Oh ya sweats and messy hair! And I never wear makeup or jewelry. Starting nursing school school I’d like to step it up a bit and wear something nicer than race shirts (although I’m rather proud of those events as a gimpy person), and treat it as a professional transition. It’s not required that I’m aware off, but med school requires business casual attire. I just haven’t found my style and every time I buy stuff I get the wrong size or don’t like it later. It’s like the universe compels me to buy stuff to donate! Hahaha!

    Food
Hmm. There’s figs, a banana and some strawberries that may be moldy. Might be some fajita meat left over although I doubt it. It was good and was likely eaten during the night as I saw the empty container for the veggies out by the sink. Which means dh ate it.

I have a doc appointment coming up which means I’m leaning towards a walk, see what I can aggravate or strengthen. I probably won’t though. My knee hurts and I think it’s a bad move to walk on a hurt knee. I’ll make an effort to get on the bike trainer.

    What are you eating today?

Its interesting the things that bug us... For me it is my arms. As the oldest in this group I am now starting to see some of that crepey skin and I hate it. I am so proud of how muscular my arms are and want to show them off but hate the way that skin looks! I also just recently started having the wrinkles in my neck, at least that I have noticed.
My mom was like @ddmom0811's. She was always dressed, hair styled and makeup on. She was tall and very thin (everything I was not) and was a model at various times in her life. She also designed and made most of her own clothes and mine when I was growing up. I always wanted to look just like her. Funny one of my favorite pictures is of her in a sweatshirt! Her hair and makeup were done though. Looking back on the pictures she was looking old (older than I think I do now at 10 years older than her) long before she passed away at only 54. She was a smoker and I think that had a big impact. She was also out in the sun a lot, at the beach and in the yard doing stuff and never wore sunscreen, it just wasn't a thing.

I do think exercise and cardio help keep us looking younger because we look fit and toned and most people don't associate people being fit as they age. I also color my hair. My daughter wants me to let it go grey but I am not there. Maybe someday, when I'm 90 😁

@ddmom0811 - I talked to my dermatologist about my thinning hair and he recommended minoxidil. It is what they use in Rogaine but I buy the Target brand (much cheaper!) for women. It really works but you do have to keep using it. For me it is definitely worth it. Also you can take the Invisalign out when you go to a party or out to dinner. I tried to keep to the 22hour rule too but it was fine. Originally mine were supposed to be a year minimum but my dentist said he had been reading where doing each tray for a week worked well in some people and asked if I was willing to try it. Worst case we would go back doing the 2 week plan.

Yesterday was such a busy day! I got almost all my packages ready to mail and DH is taking them over. I made a huge batch of spritz cookies and made chili that we will have for dinner tonight and finished all of our Christmas cards and letters. I was in charge of printing all the letters and address labels and DH put everything together. DH got Chipolte for us for dinner last night sine the chili wasn't ready. I really like the bowls and I make it more like a salad. I also got to the grocery store yesterday and have bananas and salad fixings. I also got some Picky Oats through a Strava challenge. I have not had them before but the ladies at my Oiselle brunch were raving about them (they were in one of the gifts in the gift exchange).

Now I am waiting for the wind to die down just a little so I can get out for a run. We rarely have Santa Ana winds in December but this one is really blowing and cold. It is also so dry - humidity is down to only 10%.

I mentioned to DD that I need some nicer clothes. She offered to go with me and help me shop. Spectacular! So she picked stuff out, I grumbled and we tried stuff on. That girl has an eye, thanks goodness! I'm happy with 5 new sweaters + 1 I have from the last shopping trip alone. Yay! Then I ordered bras online since we can't find my suspected size. Hehe, that what happens when you wear sports bras exclusively.

Anyone try thridlove? Dang expensive even from the clearance items.

    Now I need new socks.

    Food
I tried to get DD to have lunch with me, but she's dieting. So I had an egg and cheese burrito homemade. And figs. Not together.

I’m enjoying the discussion about how we present ourselves in public as we age, and how it’s influenced by the people who raised us.

My grandma was a locally famous TV actress who had her own show in the early 50s - live television! - where she presented clothes from local shops and discussed clothing and grooming. She was also a spokesmodel for a local department store. When I was a child, she was mostly retired, but still did newspaper modeling for local stores as an older lady, and she got me involved in modeling for children’s clothes. She was always beautifully put together, and although I never saw her do any purposeful exercise, I remember she once locked herself out of her house and easily vaulted the chest-high back gate to let herself in through a window. She still had shapely legs in her 70s. I was in awe of my beautiful grandmother, especially compared to my best friend who had an old country grandma who wore mumus and had bingo wings. She never had any work done, she just had amazing genes and took great care of her skin. She was always pushing me to wear hats and stay out of the sun.

My mom, on the other hand, was a fat kid. I think her mom was a lot to live up to. She was also a theater person but she can never remember a time when she wasn’t being told to eat the salad instead of the hamburger. The funny thing is that when I look at photos of my mom as a young woman she was pretty svelte by today’s standards. She was a carnival princess, and her dress that I still have from then had a waist I have never been able to fit into - I think it’s like a 23 inch waist with a 38 bust. But she was constantly working for it. She also damaged her heart taking diet pills. Anyway, being conventionally feminine never came easy to my mom either, and she was always more at home in a barn than a ballroom. But I have literally never seen her without makeup unless she was in the hospital. She had some work done on her face when she was about 60 and her eyelids started to droop. The eyelids were a great success, the neck tuck not so much - looked okay at the time, but eventually pulled her earlobes down.

Now me, I go back and forth on makeup. For one thing I have lupus and a tendency to cystic acne (which almost disappears when I eat right), so I am very self-conscious about my skin. My husband once joked that if the house were on fire I would stop to put on foundation and concealer before getting out. But it’s because when I have a lupus flare I look like a rotting zombie. Heavy enough pro concealer allows me to function without feeling like I need to put a bag over my head. It is really unpleasant to have to go about daily life with what looks like the worst acne ever. At one point in my 30s I would get flares where the skin from my chest up basically ceased to exist, it was just one big oozy mess. Strangers would ask what was wrong with me. Knock on wood that hasn’t happened recently, but lupus comes and goes and it could do the same thing tomorrow. Anyway it has messed with my mind, I have basically clear skin most of the time at the moment, but I’m still traumatized and think I look bad without makeup.

Growing up in the 80s I went to a high school where most girls would have rather gone to school accidentally not wearing pants than not wearing eyeliner. As soon as I got into college I stopped that, and never wore anything but foundation, which as I said was mostly for medical reasons. I spent decades not even owning makeup and having to make emergency trips to the drugstore when I wanted to wear some for a fancy function. So, fast forward to having lost 125 lbs. I had old friends coming into town and wanted to impress them, and I realized I hadn’t really worn makeup for twenty-five years. And makeup today was really weird in comparison. I read a lot of articles, watched some YouTube videos, and discovered that there are just really a terrifying number of makeup companies out there. When I was in high school you wore mabelline if you were a poor student, L’Oréal if you were less poor, and Estée Lauder if you could afford it. And that was all you really needed to know. And I could probably have gone to the Estée Lauder counter today and asked for help, and ended up looking like a well put together 50 year old who learned to do her makeup in the 80’s. I didn’t want to look 50. So I got a subscription to an Ipsy bag to help me learn which products I liked without having to make expensive choices. And after a couple of years, I have made the strange discovery that I really like girly stuff and wearing fun makeup. I buy vintage clothes, I wear all kinds of makeup sometimes, and I’m having fun. I don’t think I look 50.

As far as work, I would have to look pretty bad to have it done, because surgery sucks. I am not a fan of pain and down time. I lost a bunch of weight, and now my tummy has a big ugly pooch of loose skin. My boobs are droopy. But I also know I scar very badly and have dark, hyperpigmented scars. Getting surgery would not make me look good naked because of the scars. And I look okay clothed, wearing the right undergarments. I’m also a bad candidate for fillers and that sort of thing because I tend to react to stuff. The main issue I have, which is the hollows under my eyes, is also one of the touchiest to fix. So I’m going with good concealer and being happy with what I’ve got.

I may be one of, if not the oldest on this thread. I turned 60 in August. Growing up, I went to the Church of God. If you know anything about that denomination, they do not believe in wearing make up or jewelry of any kind, or a woman cutting her hair - at least they didn't back in the day. So, I never did any of those things as a kid.
My hair was my biggest issue. It is curly, but not the pretty curly. It just fuzzes and gets "bigger" as it gets longer. In the 60's and 70's the in thing was long, straight, jet black hair. Oh how I longed to have that. My mom and dad let me get my hair "fixed" for my senior pictures. Oh my. I don't know what the lady was thinking, but I looked like a 50's girl with the big, puffy bee hive type hair. I hated it and wanted to take it down, but, we were very poor and mom and dad had paid for it, so I had to leave it until after the pictures. WORST yearbook picture EVER!!!
Fast forward to getting out of college and joining the Air Force. I had to have my hair cut fairly short and LOVED it. So, it has been short ever since. I also started getting grey early, so I just let it be and never dyed it. So, it's all me.
As for makeup and jewelry...Once I got old enough to do what I wanted, I never wanted to take the time to put on makeup. The most I ever do is a little concealer on my nose (it's red from sun poisoning many years ago) and some rouge so I don't look like death warmed over. Dad would never let me pierce my ears. I'm actually glad. Again, once I got old enough, I decided that I had enough holes in my head, so didn't do that either.
I'm fairly happy with the way I look now, except for my teeth. I have actually looked into invisalign system. Not sure at this point it is worth the money to me. But if I do decide to spend money on looks, that would be the first thing I would do. As for wrinkles, which I don't have many of yet, I think I'll try to adopt my mom's attitude about them - I earned every one and I don't want to get rid of them. I also agree with @rheddmobile - surgery sucks and if I don't HAVE to have it, I probably won't.

About 5 years ago dh and I went on a cruise and they sell all sorts of beauty products and services. I got fillers dh bought creams for his dark circles. I don’t know how the stuff works but it does. I’ve since taken it over because it helps with fine wrinkles. I need to get more as the jar one is stinky and probably a bacterial playground. Just an FYI if anyone is interested.

It’s really interesting what we all grew up with. I think my mother wore make up. She waited tables her whole life. We never had nice stuff. Funny enough, dd and I were going through the photo albums and loose photos today preemptively sorting for new albums. I’m sure I never had a paid for hair cut until I was working and got one myself. Well, when I was 8 living with my grandparents I got a hair cut only because they wanted to get my brothers done cuz he looked like a girl and I wanted one too! So, of course our clothes were good will. Which, nothing wrong with that. Just there was never any attention to looks or attire that I can recall.

    Food
Figs. And beef tamale that tasted weird. I’ll probably have butter and peach preserves Dave’s bread before bed too.

The chili turned out really great and that was dinner along with corn bread I made last week.
I didn't eat enough before or after my run and feels like what I did eat were basically carbs today.

@quilteryoyo - I am older by 4 years 😊 I have very curly hair and when I was younger (elementary school age) my mom got tired of dealing with it and cut it all off, pixie style. Of course it curled all up and looked nothing like the cute pixie cuts. My hair was (is) very red an d I had horrible freckles and it was just not a good situation. I can remember putting gel (dippity-do) on my bangs with clips to try to make them straight. For years all I did was try to straighten my hair mostly by blow drying it and then it would still curl up how it wanted to. For my senior pictures my mom took me to a salon to have my hair cut 'to the curl' and it was pretty amazing. I still continued to blow dry the crap out of my hair though until just a few years ago. I always wanted to have long blonde straight surfer girl hair!

Also if you can afford the Invisaligns I would say go for it. I asked my dentist that very question (is it worth it at my age) and he said my teeth were only going to continue to move and get worse. I plan on living a good long time could be another 20-30 years, so yes, I went for it.

@shanaber I never did blow dry my hair - something else we didn't have. But, mom would roll it up in those big foam rollers, which was supposed to help tame the curl. It did help a little, I guess. I'm just glad I'm passed that stage in my hair life. LOL I now love that all I have to do is wash my hair, comb it, and let it dry on it's own. No fuss. No muss.

I'll ask my dentist about the invisaligns again when I go the next time. I'm finally getting SS from my deceased husband, so it's more affordable for me now.

    Chili and cornbread sounds yummy!

@quilteryoyo Your yearbook picture wasn't the worst; mine was! I had short, super curly humongous fluffy hair and oh my gosh, I had on the "countriest" of country clothes on and I looked so ridiculous. Plus should pads, it's an awful picture.

@rheddmobile I remember those days. I got a job and 15 and bought so much of my own makeup. We were on the poor side, but I thought it was the coolest thing to whip out a tube of the shiny gold Estee Lauder lipstick or the calming green of Clinique. I remember using Pearl Drops to whiten my teeth. Now I see my daughter buying all the "hip" or "in" products with her money. She'll pay $12 for mascara.

@shanaber Chili and cornbread sounds so delicious... I definitely would get Invisalign if we could afford it. My husband would say we could afford it, but I think about getting my daughter's through the teenage years and college and I'm not sure if I care enough anymore. I have one tooth that juts out but it only bothers me when it's noticeable in certain pictures so I don't worry too much about it. I'll bet you have a pretty smile. I love how simple it's become - no going to the orthodontist to get the braces tightened.

@Elise4270 I cannot stand shopping with my daughter. I like simplicity and I am probably a pretty boring dresser and she wants to make me "flashy."

I have circles under my eyes, not terrible but noticeable. I need to tone my stomach but it's doable; it's a few pounds of fat but it's not skin. I admire anyone who is confident, even if they're overweight or not the most attractive person. I want to be that confident person. I am 43. My husband would say that I look like I'm in my early 30's. Some days I would agree and others I feel like I look way way older. I occasionally color my hair. My hair has always been super thin. My grandmother wore wigs and fluffed and fluffed in her elderly years and I'm sure I will too.

I ate 3 Lindor truffles. I fixed a craving but I should have stopped after 1.

@quilteryoyo - go for the Invisaligns! We can do it together!

@shanaber - thanks for the info on going to parties with invisalig. I may ask my dentist the same thing about speeding it up. Also thanks for tip on the minoxidil.
@loveychar - I just had ate a similar amount of candy. Too much junk around here at school!

So interesting to read about our moms and how these things impacted us. I never wore make up until I was about 33. I remember because my daughter was 2.5 and I was going back to work after staying home with the kids. I bought make up and put it on and I walked out and my husband and son (age 5.5) noticed nothing. DD exclaimed "mom, I like your face!" LOL I still laugh when I remember it. She couldn't stop looking at me!

I have become my mom and I pretty much don't leave the house without makeup (unless I am biking or running!)
I love shopping with both my daughter and my mom. I tend to pick out plain clothes. Both of them pick out wild colors and things I would never pick out. When I wear these items I get so many compliments. DD bought me a red polka dot dress a few years ago for xmas. I would have NEVER even have tried it on, let alone buy it. I finally got the nerve to wear it to school and everyone went crazy, lol.

I was thinking about it today as I ran by the elementary school, how when I go back to work I will have to learn to say no a little more than I did in the past. I was in a special education room with some of the most violent kids and I was always on my feet, always on guard. But I snuck a treat or whatever the kids' parents brought in for us. When I go back to work, I'll have my own classroom in general education and I think, maybe...I can just take those treats home. Biggest challenge will be not to look in the break room. Just keep walking. My husband sits all day, every day and only gets up to use the rest room. He's at a computer all day and snacks alot... Yesterday he said someone brought in all types of candied pralines and he went "nuts" on them. Hahahaha, get it?!? I'm so funny.

I'm jealous of women that can shop with their daughters. It drives me crazy. I can't go to the movies with my other daughter, my 13 year old, because she talks through the whole movie. Just watch it. I vowed after the last movie two years ago that I would never go again.

I like makeup and I wear it sometimes but never consistently.
