Hahaha Be sure to cough without covering your mouth when you do.

Everyone is obsessed with this apocalyptic virus. 3-4 hundred thousand (300,000-400,000) die of the flu each year.. and no one freaks out about that. No hand sanitizer, no Lysol wipes, church we are not shaking hands (which is fine with me), no wine; maybe I’m wrong but I seriously can’t see this wiping out the human race. And if so, good, I’m tired any way. 😛 and I don’t have to mind my weight anymore. I’m going to ask my favorite microbiologist this week. It’s swine flue, bird flu panic all over again. Bugs come and go, we’ll still be here.

I am concerned about this virus only because it seems to be hitting older people hard. I am fit and very healthy so not too worried about myself but I am concerned for dh and bil. Neither are all that healthy and both have asthma/breathing issues. I also worry about some of our friends. That said we are really not doing anything differently or hoarding food or hand sanitizer. We have always washed our hands a lot (DD did a science project on germ spread and the use of different types of soap and water. It was fascinating and eye opening). DD said Seattle has lost its mind with all the cases there and people are stealing masks and hand sanitizers.
I am concerned that two events we have tickets for may get canceled or hopefully just postponed. Michele Obama is speaking at the arena (indoors, high capacity) near us in early April and I have tickets with some girlfriends, Then in May we have tickets to see The Rolling Stones in San Diego. That one is in the outdoor football stadium so I think probably less likely to get canceled.
Most of all I am concerned about the stock market as I watch it hit our retirement savings. but we'll ride it out too and hopefully it won't drop too much more.

@elise4270 - love your grocery tales! 😂 maybe give him a list and tell him to go by himself. Or if you felt up to it you could go by yourself? I hate grocery shopping so I go by myself, in and out as quickly as I can. Dh will go for me when we need just one or two things.

Had a great day yesterday. We went to the dog beach and our Vizsla meet up. It was a gorgeous day.
So clear - the island way off shore is Catalina. The pup in front is Hobbes trying to get someone to throw his toy

    So many Vizslas!

Afterwards we stopped at my favorite strawberry stand 😋😋😋

I am off to get a run in and then try to clean my house with no vacuum before the in laws come over for bbq tonight. Was supposed to be raining but looks more like a repeat of yesterday. I'll take it!

I can't shop. I haven't the physical stamina. Which is why I fuss so much about going. I will do the online order and pick up. We didn't even need anything yesterday, Walmart is just a habit after church.

I found some 350$ ear phones I want at Walmart. I'm hoping dh will cave. With some fried chicken with mashed taters.
I was just so achey yesterday.

I agree with both on you on the virus. I think people just need to be vigilant about hand washing and try to not touch your moth or nose when you're in public. And, I do worry about my parents. They are in fairly good health, but they are 88 and 84, so if they get it, or the flu, it would be hard for them to fight it off. All of the panic is causing unnecessary shortages of essential supplies and is causing the stock market to crash. It's all intertwined. I'll be interested to know what your microbiologist friend says @Elise4270 .

@shanaber Your beach pictures are great. Love seeing all the dogs zooming around.

Today’s a new start. I’m shaking the anxiety of the next appointment, it’ll be good to know what’s next. I’m resigned to the suggestion of a hip replacement, curious about this fluid filled cleft at suture anchor point in acetabulum, which is what I can feel walking especially sitting and leaning forward. I did some light yard work yesterday. It looked like rain was coming and that’s the best time to rake some leaves in the woods, the rain will wash them down to the ravine. Beary loves trips into the woods. I’d like to get some grass growing, and have straw (from dog bedding), that might help. Anyway, I’m just in aggravating pain after I do anything. So, maybe hip replacement is the answer. I am putting it off til May though.

No expensive ear phones. Dh gave mine back and said they were good. So i listened to them for about 30 minutes, all time fave blue Monday song came on and all I thought was wow, how much better this would sound. Dh said he’d look at Sams, Wednesday (oh which I’ll be going). Haha. Ah nothing like escaping reality through music. Dd says the over the ear one are stupid. I reserve the right to use them as I like, they sound amazing. Of course I found some Bluetooth ones that are interesting. I may entertain those. (Yes I’m rambling, dumb cat woke me to early, hungry because no food is left out to get beanie to lose a bit and I don’t think I have any work to do, I should look.)

I’m trying to get poison ivy too. I pulled something up that was suspicious, but not easily identified as such until I got to the roots. So far topical rx cream and singular works fine.

I’m going to do better today. I ate 8 mini jellos yesterday and watched 600+ lb people struggle to control their eating habits. I think I need to find something other than food and Netflix for brain rest time. I have the violin, and we just started studying the heart, which I love. I should take some time and draw it, noting the normal order sounds and the ECG cycle. That’d be fun. No I can’t really draw, sometimes it’s acceptable though, especially if I’m moved.

My doc wanted me to note the progress of the shot, immediately after and 10 days post. So I’d been making notes and put in tin to a line chart for him. Haha. I might get called nerd again, (instructor called me nerd last Thursday for knowing borborygmi and asked how I know that, no one in her 30 years has ever known that. I admitted that I starred reading the medical dictionary about 16-17. Hence nerd). The week earlier we were doing abbreviations and she gave me a whole *kitten* look when I knew CABG, which is not impressive in my book. So, I’m use to it. Dh says I have no idea how odd I am. Meh. Y’all odd for not reading tabers.

Stay nerdy my friends. Or true to you. Whatever you wanna call it.

    Coffee
    Skip lunch
    ??? Dinner

@Elise4270 So sorry your hip isn't feeling any better. I've been looking into headphones to get. I currently run without anything and think music would help with the longer sessions. As for poison ivy, I have a couple of tips that have worked for me. If the area is really itching, keeping you awake at night, get it really hot until it stops itching. This will use up all of the histamines in the area and it takes some time for your body to regenerate them, so you can get some rest. (This is what I have read. As a medical person, you probably know a whole lot more about this than I do.) It has worked for me before. The other tip is, after I have been out working in the lawn, I will soak a paper towel in rubbing alcohol and wiped off all exposed skin. This will get rid of any potential oils, preventing the rash. I have been doing this for a few years and have only gotten small break outs. I used to get it a lot. Stay nerdy and have a great day.

I use aftershocks for running so I can hear my surroundings but for commute/travel I have wired ear buds. I have wireless over the ear for lifting early in the mornings or when other half plays video games while I lift. Ear buds are my least favorite. The sound isn't as good as the over the ear. But I need the cord for my surface. Can't bluetooth it.

    shanaber Posts: 6,423 Member
I also use Aftershokz for running and really like that I can hear my music and hear when a cyclist is coming up behind me. Hobbes also warns me about that so I have a 2 level alert system😁
For listening to music at home or watching movies on my PC I have bluetooth over the ear headphones called Audio66. They work great and fold up for travel which was why I got these particular ones. I use them more now though than I did when I was working and traveling so much. I really dislike ear buds, they make my ears hurt. DD says the new Apple buds are terrific though. I think they would still hurt.

@elise4270 - I have been called a nerd for so long. I use to rebel against it and think no, I am just a normal person who loves math and all the science and computer stuff. Now it is just me. My dh is one too as is our dd, who told me once that it was to be expected given her parents.
What about reading a book (actual book not on a device so it is better for your brain and eyes? I have been doing that a bit more lately to just escape from all the devices.
Also when I was working for stress relief I started coloring. I still do it. I have colored pens, pencils and a big box of yes, crayons. Dd got me a beautiful set of colored pencils that I haven't tried yet but will soon. I put music on and just color. You can find the books really cheap and with all sorts of designs. I particularly like geometrics but they have everything. I had some that had some great sayings that expressed pretty much how I felt about work at the time that I can't repeat here 🤣

Food - dh smoked ribs last night and the in-laws came and we had a really great time. SIL admitted they didn't want to have us over because they don't have a nice place for us to all sit around. So next weekend she is going to cook a family traditional dish and bring it here. Of course we will also have pie for Pi day and it is their anniversary on Sunday.

I was ok on calories yesterday but way over on fat - higher than protein so my goal today is get that back in line. I am also cutting back on wine a bit. We tend to have a glass or two every night with dinner and I am sure that probably isn't good.

we had an interesting chat today about the survival rates or mortality rates of this new virus. Honestly, if you are not immune compromised, the survival rate is much better than the common flu. I wish i had noted the site the numbers came from. But a quick google search gave me this breakdown by country.

Dh's 99yo grandmother FINALLY gave in to agreeing to a hearing appointment for hearing aids, which she desperately needs and they canceled her appointment because of this dang virus. shes 99. she needs to hear. no active cases and heck she'd probably be the LAST person to get it. Never sick. I heard that after spring break (next week) OU is shutting down for 3 weeks. I suppose someone may have had potential contact with someone from china or with a positive diagnosis. well. least at this rate we should have it contained, right? Idk. if the CDC says shut down and dont take older folks to non-emergent appointments, I cant argue. but i cant help but think this is all over blown. *cough cough*

i ate a bbq sandwich today for lunch. DH made a frozen pizza and Ill have some... better get it while i'm still alive.

My poor mom is freaking the kitten out over the virus. She’s 84 and had a couple of plain old colds this winter which hit her really hard - as in, confusion due to low oxygen levels and trouble breathing. In the past she has always been the one with the cast-iron immune system, but not so much recently. It doesn’t help that she is very extroverted and president of everything. I lose track but I think she’s currently running two different writer’s groups, for mystery writers and romance writers, up for a SF short story award at a convention in two weeks, goes to church, tai chi, ballroom dancing, and is a member of the carriage driver’s association. So isolating is hard on her. And since my dad died she is all alone in the house, which is another reason associating with friends is important to her.

My husband and I are both in high risk categories due to age (51 - 1.5% or thereabouts), his asthma, and my lupus and diabetes. So we’re not delighted with the thought of getting it either. So far we are going about life as usual, including planning our annual meet up with my high school friends later this month, but it’s getting on my nerves a trifle.

Food wise I am happy to report that despite not changing a dang thing my weight is now trending downwards since upping my thyroid meds. So that’s good at least.

My daughter texted me today as she put, it from the 'COVID-19 ground zero'. She basically told me we need to stay home. No gym, workout at home, etc.. go for runs outside but otherwise stay home. She is mostly worried about her dad. He has asthma, diabetes and other various problems and falls into the high risk age category too. Her words from what she has seen in Seattle were - 'you don't want to get this'.

So far no one has said to our friend Hilde not to go for her hearing aids or to her PT appointment next week and we are tied with NY for the 2nd most cases. They are closing college campuses and doing virtual classes and things like that. I am wondering if Coachella will be canceled like SxSW. They also canceled a big tennis tournament.

I will likely still go to my gym sessions at least for the foreseeable future, but on the other hand I don't want to do anything that would put my dh at risk. I am not in the panicked group that is making runs on Costco for toilet paper, bottled water and hand sanitizer, but I do want to be cautious.

My ashtma puts me at slightly higher risk. I told work that they may want to get me a tablet because if people come to work sick I will be self quarantining at home.

Hopefully my age and overall general health will help counteract the asthma risk. I just keep washing my hands, working out, getting sleep, and trying not to touch my face or things in public (I take the bus to work and I touch nothing unless I have to)

I'm not concerned for me or my kids, but I am for my mom. She's 86 and in memory care nearby. I've heard they're going to end social visits soon. I'm actually more concerned about the hysteria than the actual virus. The media is not doing us any favors with the gloom and doom.

I was reading an article this morning comparing mortality rates to testing rates.

South Korea has administered 1100 tests per million residents and has a mortality rate of just 0.6%.

The US has administered a mere 7 tests per million residents and has a mortality rate of 5%.

A case can be made that the US is missing many mild cases due to their testing protocols and therefore the mortality rate is higher.

    Here's the article:
    https://time.com/5798168/coronavirus-mortality-rate/
    and another
    https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-03-07/why-the-coronavirus-fatality-rate-keeps-changing

Italy has higher testing rates but still has 5% mortality. One thing to consider there is that Italy is also Europe's oldest average population.

    https://www.livescience.com/why-italy-coronavirus-deaths-so-high.html

To make this post on topic, I had my usual carrots & hummus, two hard boiled eggs, a cheese stick and a honeycrisp apple for lunch.

@7lenny7 - I read a similar article on the statistics that was really interesting. The So Koreans not only have the most testing but it is felt they have done the best job with overall tracking as well. So their numbers, based on their population mix, are probably the most accurate. The article went on to say though, if as many Americans catch Covid-19 as caught swine flu, the death toll could exceed 440,000 using the 0.68% mortality rate. It was an interesting article about the impact of our current social networks (interconnectedness), ease of travel and transportation networks and applying the work done by network engineers/scientists. They found that standard epidemiological models tend to understate the threat posed by a virus such as 2019-nCoV, because they don’t take account of the topology of the social networks that transmit it.

@ddmom0811 - wondering you are still going to Portland?

For the on topic bit... I was way low on protein yesterday, trying to do better today but I am not very hungry. Had a bowl of chicken noodle soup for lunch, yogurt, granola and berries for breakfast. Dinner tonite is leftover ribs - yum!

Wow! Y’all have been busy here. I cancelled my trip yesterday. I didn’t want to and was very sad about not going to see my daughter but we take care of MIL and he BF (they are five miles away). But we bring them food every week. Besides that the conf I was supposed to attend kept having people and companies back out. College Board couldn’t go and I was going to several of their sessions. So I had a good cry last night after cancelling everything. Next week is spring break and I will be home!

Sorry no time to reply to all those interesting comments but I am also not worried for me.

Wow, lots of typos in my last post which I did quickly from my phone on the way home from a restaurant (I wasn't the driver!) Since I thought we were going to be gone all week I have no food at home (other than canned and frozen stuff, but not my usual fresh stuff). So I purchased ready-made salads from Fresh Market that are quite different from the salads I make every week. My salad is mainly veggies and then either edamame and/or egg. These have various cheeses, nuts and different fruits. So yay, some variety in my lunch for once!

@shanaber, wow, that's scary that your daughter is right there in the thick of ground zero. Hopefully she doesn't get it. know she's young and healthy, but still, we don't want her to get it!

@7lenny7 - yes the testing is definitely a problem here. I heard a NYTimes podcast this morning on Why the US Wasn't Ready for Coronavirus. Bottom line - bureaucracy. But they need to get those tests rolling. Hope no one in the memory care facility gets it.

@rheddmobile - Yes, it doesn't sound like it would be good for any of you to catch it.

My mom is 76 and lives in a retirement neighborhood. She is healthy but her husband is not. If they were to get it, it could be very bad. She reminded me that she has nodules in her lungs from taking Phen-Phen (sp?) many years ago. You may recall it was a diet pill. So she said it could be very bad if she got it too. She said her card clubs have cancelled the rest of their meetings for March (they don't know how to sterilize their playing card!) Not sure about her quilting bees. I'm supposed to see her Easter but I may have to cancel if there is a lot of virus around because I don't want to risk bringing it to them.

We have a small task force at my school that I am on to plan for how we will do virtual learning if we have to close. Next week is spring break, and it will be getting hot here very soon, so that will help alleviate some spreading of the disease. (I think anyway, @elise4270 can correct me).

On Monday I fell while at the programming competition (was walking down to the front row of a big auditorium and I thought it was just a ramp, but alas, there was a step). Anyway, I was very worried about my ankle! It was tender and turned blue but I was able to run and walk fine on it Tuesday. So thankful it wasn't worse! I lifted this morning and will run tomorrow.

Stay healthy everyone! And go for a run! (Except @elise4270 - you practice violin and study! )

Ya @ddmom0811 I heard through April for the most of us. But dh just showed me that the who just declared it a pandemic. I think it's supposed to be like the flu and less of an issue with warmer weather.

Anyway horrible situation for everyone. We found a hopefully solution to dh's gm'a hearing. I have poison Iivy the worst ever. We just stopped in a Walmart in Denton for topical Benadryl and I turned around and there's one hearing aid on the shelf. Took that as a sign and grabbed it. 59$.

I'm still working on dh for those ear phones ... I had a steroid shot yesterday for the ivy... It's barely helped and it's from back of my hand to elbow and forearm and a patch in my hip larger than my hand. And patched on the another arm. And a swath on my inner thigh.

    Doc update.
No new news really. I'm to see the trauma surgeon next week and see if he agrees redoing the rod (derotation) is an acceptable option. If so, then I schedule it. Then in 6 months we redo the labral tear . If the trauma surgeon disagrees that the derotation is the next step, then I'll visit with specialist no3 for a total hip replacement.

And we were rear-ended on the highway. No casualties. Luckily my number... ?no auto correct... Bumper is just rubbed. But the impact broke the air vent cover. Nothin oem parts can fix. My first accident. Glad it was no biggie.

    Food
Panera soup and salad. DH tried to get me to a get a pastry, but I played the lent card. It worked magically.

@ddmom0811 Sorry you had to cancel your trip. It was probably for the best, though. Also glad your fall wasn't worse. Not knowing a step is there is one of the worst feelings and there is nothing you can do, but fall.

@Elise4270 Sorry your poison ivy is so bad. Hope the steroid shot helps. Hope you figure out the best option for your hip. And, glad your accident wasn't too bad.

In case you have forgotten, I go to a local nursing home on Sunday mornings and have a gospel sing-a-long with the residents. I got a call today that they are cancelling all activities through March due to the COVID-19. I understand it, but it makes me sad. They really enjoy coming down and it gives them something to look forward to.

Also, I took my dad to the VA hospital for an appointment today. We had to go into 2 different buildings, which is usually very easy. Today, we had to drive around because they had all but the main doors closed and you had to answer questions about your travel and health and reason for being there before they would let you in.

And there is no toilet paper at Walmart! LOL

Anyway, I hope everyone stays healthy, safe, and get some runs in - or practicing the violin.

To stay on topic, my food choices were HORRIBLE today. They always are when we go to the VA because we stop for lunch on the way home. Mom and dad like Wendy's, so that is where we stopped. I got a single with cheese, fries, and a small frosty. Then, at the daycare, I ate the pudding they had for snack. I never do that. What's up with that? Cravings from poor choices earlier in the day is my guess. AND I was hungry when I got home, so had Kashi cereal with strawberries. Can you say WAY OVER CALORIE COUNT today?

Ha! DH said the same thing about the toilet paper! Wth? Really? Guess the rest of us stock up on wash cloths and laundry soap.

The nursing home where his gma is asked that they not come see her so often. That's not gonna happen. His cousin told them no way. DH will probably cut back, but he does have that hearing aid to give her.

I can't figure out the toilet paper and paper towels either. Maybe people figure they are going to be locked in their houses and unable to go out and want to make sure they have enough? Who knows?
@ddmom0811 - oh no on the fall! I am so glad it wasn't worse and hope you aren't too sore! don't know about the heat stopping the virus, I hope so but we were still getting cases here and it was on the 90s. Who knows though maybe there would have been more if it were cooler.
I feel sad for the people in nursing homes who now can't have visitors. I understand they want to control it but I think they also need to see their families.

We decided to get out of the house for a bit today. There is a winery about an hour south of us that we really like and have a wine club with and they were having a case sale on a wine dh especially likes. It was a gorgeous day for a drive and we were the only ones at the winery. Got our wine and came home. We have been trying really hard to stay home as dd has told us but seriously... we need to to get out and about a little.

@Elise4270 - I guess either way you have more surgery ahead of you. Honestly the THR sounds easier at this point. Will the insurance pay to get the minor damage fixed on the car?

I made chicken and rice in the IP that was pretty good, with broccoli for dinner. Lunch was snacking on a protein box dh got at Starbucks. Tomorrow I will get out for a run, hopefully before the rain and then strength training at the gym. I suspect this will be my last session for a while. Dd keeps telling me it just isn't worth the risk but I will miss going. Maybe though it will get me doing the workouts on my own like @ddmom0811 and not need to workout with a trainer any longer. I certainly know how/what I need to do.

    The poisoned arm
    5uu4pvepg4nw.jpg

man i am miserable. I gained 5 pounds in the last few days. I am sure it's not fat, least fairly sure. I had the steroid shot in my shoulder then my hip and another for poison ivy. Wonder if its related. I went back to urgent care today because i have even more poison ivy now. Its on my face and the patch on the side of my hip has doubled and my hand and arm are so swollen that the creases on the back of my wrist have cause bleeding from just flexing my wrist. I hate bad health care workers. er I hate uninformed cocky health care workers. They tried to tell me i just reinfected myself. I disagree politely, " no its just still cropping up. its only 3 full days since the initial outbreak". well, lets just let it go there. I did get some prednisone, so ya more immune suppressants. so, I'm hoping no one in 100 miles of me has this virus that I mock because its not super virulent, but now have a gnats fart of immune function against it. My hand looks like a bumpy blistery lobster. Any way, seems the first dose of prednisone is starting to help and I'm less itchy or it's the half bottle of benadryl, 2 doses of pseudoephedrine, topical triam, topical benadryl, 2 doses of chewable benadryl, and and hours worth of what the heck have I done to deserve this prayers (not really, but its funny). I told my class mates it was leprosy. might as well be.

    Car
nah, Eric ordered a salvaged part for 45 bucks (vent replacement). no reason to involve insurance. Maybe the swelling will be down in my hand by time it arrives so i can put it in.

    food
I went to chickfila for a wrap. ordered the wrap and a larger diet lemonade, dang if they didn't call it a meal and and added fries, you know i ate them, but only half the wrap.

DH told me that the ground crews with his employer have poison ivy bad already too. So I feel less like a dumb bunny for getting it so bad.

Thanks @quilteryoyo . Your thoughts of well wishes seems to be working. I’ve already peed a pound out and the rash is setting down. I took a mobic (nsaid) last night and think the weight is the result, it’s happened with other rx nsaids. I’m hoping just 1-2 more days of this and back to normal.

We get an extra week off to catch this virus. I think we’re goin to online classes after that. Meh, ok by me as long as they are not live, I can drink coffee and teach beary to walk on a leash, maybe.

At least with the added steroids, my hip and shoulder are in less pain.

Wow @Elise4270!! That is something. I have never, thankfully, encountered poison ivy or poison oak. Honestly it is pretty amazing with all the hiking and backwoods camping my family did when I was a kid. I hope you get some relief from something in that list and can get some sleep!

I haven't run in 3 days... I'm not sure why I didn't run on Tuesday, maybe it was raining 🤷🏻‍♀️, Wednesday is my normal rest day and we decided to drive to Temecula but I really should have run first. It was so pretty out. Yesterday it never stopped pouring. I don't mind running in the rain but not so much when there is thunder and flash flood warnings and it is raining really hard before I ever step out the door. I kept waiting for it to have a little break and then I had to get ready to go to strength training. So today I will run, rain or no rain. and it is supposed to be beautiful this weekend with even more rain and much colder all next week. I will take this any day over the 90F we were having a couple of weeks ago.
I think yesterday was my last strength training group session until after the virus passes. They have called for no groups over 250 here and higher risk individuals to avoid groups larger than 10. I will still do a workout on T-Th here at home. I don't have all the equipment but I have enough weights and things to make it work. Just need to keep to my schedule.

I do seem to be getting my calories in check and my macros are looking so much better. We'll see if it helps any.
I have been chatting with another lady from the challenge group about osteoporosis. She was just diagnosed with a femur stress fracture and is researching diet and other things she can do to improve her bone density. I think I should probably be looking at that too although mine was ok the last test I had. I think the running and strength training made a big difference.

My two cents on the osteoporosis diet would be to avoid dairy. I know they push it as a source of calcium, but it's not really made for the human gut and I think the high phosphate levels interfere with absorption. I'd say otc supplements are better. Resistance exercise is the best way to preserve or build (if your younger). Of course, finding an educated person that specializes in that field is better than random spurts of internet knowledge (ie Mine). I think vitamin C is also critical in bone repair.

I realized I won't be running this year and if all goes well, with either option, I might be back at it 2022? Ugh. I told my doc I wanted ceramic if we do the THR and I'm gonna run on it. He didn't say no, but he didn't say anything. Kinda like a we'll see about that later. I suppose I might be able to bike before that.

    Foods today.
    Coffee.
I'm so drugged up! I have no appetite. Out of habit I want to eat, but food sounds horrible.

Thanks @elise4270 - I don't eat a lot of dairy, well I eat Greek yogurt pretty regularly, whey protein too and occasionally cheese. I love it but trying to get the fat down has got me limiting it. I do get lots of Vit C with the tangerines and oranges off our trees. Of course I also take the supplements with Vit D and calcium, etc..

@Elise4270 Yowtch, that looks painful. I bet it is the steroids and nsaids, I gained a pound a day for a week following my steroid shot last year when I was also taking naproxen.

My husband is one of those who is immune to poison ivy, so he is really careless about tracking it all over, and got it on our couch cushions last year and I ended up with it on my rear end. Fortunately I barely get it, just a few tiny bumps for about a day, but I was about to go mad from the itching. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe try ice?

Yes cold definitely helps. I dread taking a shower and cut back to every other day to avoid the misery. DH suggest I take a bleach bath. Lord. No way am I doing that. I know his intentions are good, but I got this. Haha!

The oral steroid seems to be just the extra kick I needed and I'm not as miserable. No more sitting in the woods cutting small stumps out with the bow saw. I'll let DH get then with the axe. Cuz I ain't swinging that thing. I'd cut a shin in half!

What about vinegar or baking soda in a cool bath? I don't know if it would help with poison ivy but that is what my dad used to do for me when I got sunburned and it was amazing.
