    @taniaolter Here we are!

I am in need desperately of a break. I farted off yesterday and didn't study/review anything. I was so tired. The shoulder is just not letting m sleep. I abandoned the 4.5 year old progesterone, thinking eh... might have medical endorsement and not self medicate with old rx. I did see something on the internet about progesterone helping with appetite control. I noticed a difference, but figure there is a fair chance the info is exaggerated since it was tied to "diets". I did go get the blood work for the hormone replacements yesterday, be the 14th before I can get them. Think I see the shoulder doc again about then, so I'm hoping I can sleep without pain in 10 days.
Today the twins turn 25. I left DD 100 in her door with a sticky on it. I did get her paint stuff and the Taber's. And sir trump sent her 1200.. so.. he ain't her daddy but it spends the same! haha!

    food/school/stress
gah. I am, well honestly I think with the shoulder, I am just feeling beat and don't wanna do a dang thing. I should cook some acorn squash that I have. DH is getting tired of me not fixing food. My last final is Thursday, maybe I'll be ready to put that back on the to do list when the semester is wrapped up. Today I take the "B" class final... the anxiety, I'm stalling and will have to wait til the 11th to see if its a surprise A. I should not set myself up to be upset if its a B. B is good, *sigh*. 88-89 B which is so hard to take... but, its fine... (not really), I don't want a B. I've made all A's since I went back... B is fine... it's fine.
Cheating was suspected in another class and we had to take our final exam at the same time instead of a 14 hour window. So I woke up this morning thinking "what if this B class is doing the same thing? what if I missed an 8AM final?" see B is good. otherwise it'd be an F. Any day now the surgeon's office will phone with a surgery date. I am kinda hoping they'll forget about me and push the surgery to early july... It was not a fun surgery.

    @shanaber How are you doing?

Whats for breakfast? (not that I need to eat... I need to study)... fine. I'm going. be back friday...

@elise4270 - sorry about the sleep and studying! Happy birthday to the twins! My daughter was Saturday the 2nd. 27! B is fine!!!

@Avidkeo - I do the same thing with making smaller cookies, no bake energy bites, etc. But I sometimes think I end up eating too many thinking "they are really not as much!" The no bake energy bites are too hard to make into the number of portions they say and I feel like a complete OCD nut counting out 35 balls.

@bearly63 - Another Peloton challenge! Fun! I know I'll be doing one of these days.

@quilteryoyo - Strange on the puffiness and weight, but we all know it's a rollercoaster! Mine was exactly the same again today. I thought it would be down the 2 that shot up on Sunday morning. We had to deliver some prescriptions to MIL and her BF yesterday ($900 for a 3 month supply for just one medicine!!! Outrageous! I don't know what it was.) Anyway we were both hungry (or thought we were) after dinner and decided to go Andy's Frozen Custard. OMG - so good. It's relatively new and we went a few times at Christmas when my daughter was here and haven't been in a long time. They posted the calories -800! So I ended up way over, but it's a rare thing for me.

My dentist said I can go in for the Invisalign this afternoon. It is now considered a "private office". When I get there, I am to call. When the prior patient leaves, I enter. They take temp, etc. Sounds like my dermatologist appt a couple weeks ago. I don't know how long these dentists/docs can make it like this. They will give me the 3 sets of trays after they drill down between some teeth. After 3 sets of trays I can see a difference. I may have straight teeth by the time I see my students next fall!

By the way, can't remember if I shared this and don't see it, we runners and cyclists apparently have extra protection against COVID-19 per this article:

    https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-04-covid-deadly-complication.html?fbclid=IwAR1nd10eSGvAK2VO-nnaDHNbiKXcUV8eD0HnA4_kIQgt9LQt1QzfFGiou1k

    Yay, us!

Food the same breakfast and lunch.
Dinner will be a Hello Fresh meal.
    No Andy's tonight!
Ran 4 miles outside. Crossed the street several times to not pass people. At one point there was a walker on both sides of street so I ran down the middle! I had on my fancy flashing lights.

@ddmom0811 Yea. I know my weight is a mini roller coaster ride, so I try to not sweat the small rises. I did look back and was barely over my sodium goal for yesterday. It is probably just normal fluctuations. Having the puffy feeling does let me know what to expect before stepping on the scale. It helps lessen the shock. LOL The frozen custard sounds really good and worth every calorie. WOW on the price of the medicine. It's ridiculous. Glad you are going to get the invisalign. Good luck with them. The article was interesting. We rock!

I had normal breakfast, at 10 am. I'm awful about waiting to eat until later when I'm home all day. Then I snack for lunch - today was a banana and some homemade granola. I'm thinking for dinner I am going to have tilapia with brown rice and not sure what else.

    Morning all

@elise4270 big hugs. First good luck on the exam. I get it, I was a mostly A student and had to swallow one or 2 Bs. It's damned hard, definitely. On Progesterone, I found it INCREASED my appetite. When I had the implant, I was getting my period every 2 weeks, and my appetite was insane. I was HUNGRY all the time. When I got it removed, my need to eat definitely decreased, but I find even now my will power to control my appetite definitely has peaks and dips. I'm in a peak atm, but I'm due to ovulate next week, and I know that's going to cause a struggle. I'm determined this month to not let the surges control me. Will see.

@quilteryoyo I find on rest days I'll sort of IF, so hold off breakfast until lunch time. On days I run though ill have breakfast after my run because otherwise I'm too hungry come lunch. I do this because I like to snack in the evening and skipping breakfast means I have more room to snack when I want to. Also I'm not usually that hungry in the morning either.

Something else I'm doing atm is being a bit more mindful when I eat. So I'll take a bite, put my fork/spoon down and actually enjoy the bite. Makes my meal last longer and I actually feel fuller after. I've been having this weird thing where ill eat, and about 30 mins later I'm starving again. This was a technique I used way back in 2017 when I lost all the initial weight, and have forgotten about. It's nice to take the time to savour my food, rather than just scoff it down. No idea if it's helping lol

Today the scale is the same as yesterday, yay. @bearly63 I've heard that scales have a memory, so if the weight difference is within a certain range of the previous weigh in, it just displays the same weight, not the new one. Maybe your scale does that? A lot of people say if your scale does that, weigh yourself with something heavy first it resets?

Oh meals today, I have a 24k run on Saturday so increasing the carbs a little. So muesli with yoghurt for breakfast, pasta for lunch and a Thai coconut curry with rice for dinner.

@Elise4270 As they say at UT, "B's and C's lead to degrees at least in engineering" so B is perfect. Just my 2 cents. I am doing HRT so hit me up if you have any questions.

@Avidkeo That is a great trick on the baking.

@ddmom0811 These challenges get addicting. Some of these people are downright crazy. I cannot keep up but I do enjoy challenging myself. Maybe once a week. I just read an article on the P blog how cycling is really good for runners for cross-training with good cardio and less weight-bearing stress. I did invisalign several years ago. I was pleased with outcome and I swear I lost weight because taking them out was a pain in the butt.

@shanaber Hope all is well....those crazy numnuts in HB are making news with the protesting.

I made the mistake of buying a local restaurants home made whole grain sourdough bread since they are now selling it at our grocery store. It is addicting. Seems to be showing up in all of my meals lately.

So breakfast - bread with butter
    Lunch - bread with BLT
Dinner - Tacos and maybe a slice of bread.

Exercise - Did a ride and tried a beginner full body strength class. I know how to weight lift but just haven't been consistent so I am trying to start slow and do T, TH and Sat.

@bearly63 HRT through your PCP or self-sought like the pellets? I haven't brought it up to my PCP recently. I believe he'd feel that it's a normal part of aging, I understand that it is, and I'd like to just embrace the change, but if it helps my shoulder? ya, count me in! and I don't get sweats, but I get hot. If it helps my skin too? yup, doin' it! I have done the pellets a few times before. They get expensive and inconvenient, my symptoms get better and I don't keep up with it.

There is one girl in my class that says "B's/C's get degrees" after every test! We were told that our grade are not a reflection of how well we will do, or IF we'll pass the NCLEX-RN, licensing exam, so not to get hung-up on on A's. But, we already know; it my personal interpretation of self worth. I think I'm type A.

@ddmom0811 I talked to one of my instructors today and she apologized for the lateness in grading. She said going online "With 11 lab submissions each for my 37 lab students, that makes 406 assignments. 148 assignments of those are videos to view with my slow internet." I can not fathom this amount of work. Each video is 10-15 minutes long (30 hours of videos? I hope they are entertaining!) and she's given feedback and notes my/everyone's deficiencies to remediate this summer or fall (not that I'm a doodoo- circumstance and making sure I know what I need to know- gave an orange an injection... catheterized modeling clay, gave a stuffed animal 0900 meds). I really feel for the teachers. I hear that OU is canceling fall classes. Not sure if that's on the ground courses, or all. yikes.

My violin teacher mentioned I should apply to PA school. Which I did and was not accepted, GRE poop. But that program is/was suppose to start this summer (at OU health science center). Kinda really glad I didn't get in. I stress enough in this program. I think I'd have a full on mental episode in PA school. (I'm just saying that ya know. I'd love PA school). But, I have faith this is the right path.

@elise4270 - oh my gosh that poor professor!!! That's awful!!! How will she ever finish. Oh no on cancelling school in the fall. But, I thought OK was opening up?

@bearly63 - oh brother, I better not look at the Peloton blog, I'll be addicted to it. I look so forward to my runs with it! The one today was SO good.

    @shanaber - how are you?

Hi guys - sorry I have been so quiet. I just decided to stay mostly away from the computer for a few days. I found I was researching all the possible medical issues and just overwhelming myself so better not to even give myself the opportunity.
I went for a run on Saturday with no expectations. I ran when I could and walked or stopped when I needed to.
On Sunday after our discussion here and looking at my previous measurements, I decided I needed to get serious and be consistent with my workouts. So I put together 3 days of strength workouts based on what I was doing with the trainer before everything got shut down. That is my week 1 set of workouts for T-TH-Su. Those are also the days I can take the Stretch and Roll online class so I will be dressed appropriately and warmed up already. I did that Sunday and again today! Yay - I figure a few more times and I will be getting into a habit again.
Yesterday I went out for a run that quickly ended up being a walk. I used a Peloton 45 min speed walk and ended up doing it twice (well more like 1.5) to get all the way home.

I was going to try to get out early to run before it gets hot tomorrow (it is supposed to be record breaking again here - 90's today and tomorrow then over 100 on Thursday) but now I have an appointment to get the 24 hour HR monitor at the cardiologist's. I go back next Wednesday for the other test. Maybe I can at least get a walk in after the sun starts to set tomorrow.
Food has been good - We are eating a lot of leftovers and soup so we don't need to turn on the oven for anything. Although I need to make some granola... and brownies, I really want to make brownies.

@elise4270 - I really hope your finals are going well! I am a type A too and never really had anything other than A's until advanced physics... I hated that class and barely managed to escape with a C (ugh!). I can't imagine being in the pain you are in, not sleeping well and still managing to get A's and even get through all the schoolwork and tests!
@bearly63 - great job on the Peloton challenge! How did you like their strength workout? I have not tried any of them yet. Huntington Beach is just crazy. Their city attorney made a statement that the governor was picking on OC and on them specifically. They are sueing the state along with Newport Beach. Interestingly Laguna and San Clemente sent plans over the weekend to the governor and worked out a step by step process to reopen the beaches with limited hours and use (no picnicking, sunbathing, etc.).
@ddmom0811 - I told DH I wanted a Withings Body+ scale for Mother's Day and he ordered it for me. I don't think it will be more accurate than my scale for weight but maybe for body fat and muscle.
@avidkeo - that is interesting about the scale memory. Mine will do that for several days in a row so maybe that is a thing.
I also do the same thing with making more servings when I bake. I also try weighing things more now lately so I know what a serving should be in grams rather than just saying 2 cookies...

@shanaber I got a D in modern physics. I took it as an elective, loved the material but did not commit the time to it. Eek. I thought you might be sorting through the health concerns. It’s understandable. Feel free to share as needed. It’d be nice to give back some of that support you’ve offered so freely. So, anything you need, just say the word. Ya know, careful with google info. It can be gloom and doom and not representative of your situation. I’d keep a running list of ailments, symptoms, pains, and questions on my phone between visits. Even made body maps and charts. Sure the doc though I was/am nuts.

@ddmom0811 I Googled fall closings for OU. I had a classmate mention that it was closed, so potentially unintentional misinformation... looks like the official word is closed through July 31. Perhaps summer canceled was mistaken for fall, which is still undecided. We are still having summer online offerings only. Nothing that was “on the ground” is being converted.

I ate too much today. Studied none. Exam tomorrow but think I can make a 63 and still get an A. Then I need to study for Thursday’s exam and done done done! Dd is already done, guess she had all week to get her classes done now she’s out roaming the world.

@Elise4270 I went to an ObGyn turned menopause/osteoporosis specialist the year I turned 50. I was on it since my mom was busting bones walking across the kitchen. I had started the symptoms of perimenopause - hot flashes every hour on the hour, 24-7, screwed up sleep, no menstral cycle, weight gain, no energy, yada yada....she recommended the patch with a pill, one was progestin and the other was estrogen...I held off for a year...but finally decided to go for it. I then switched back to a regular ObGyn and he convinced me that it was the right choice based on tons of studies and that they had fixed the issues that my mom experienced with the heart issues back in the day. I switched to a creme that I rub on my arm each night. Since then, I have lowered the doses of each female hormone and added a very small dose of testosterone to help with energy, muscle, etc. Now I have a full beard. JK

Your poor instructor! That is crazy.... Good luck on the tests...kick a......! I am an A type too....very competitive. Drove my college friends crazy....

@ddmom0811 You will love it....so much good info and tons of really high level athletes....I can't keep up but I am enjoying it all. We will need to do a challenge together....so I can chase you.

@shanaber Your workouts sound awesome. I need to really take that seriously. Where is the stretch and roll class?
Brownies are very healthy due to the dark chocolate being full of antioxidants.

Thanks @elise4270!! Good luck with your exams. Almost done!

@bearly63 - I like the way you think especially re: Brownies! 😁
The stretch and roll class is on Instagram Live. Search for goldsgymsocal. The class I 'attend' is with Roman Chavez at 9am T-Th and 10am Sunday. He also does one T-TH at 6pm (all Pacific time). Anyone can attend and I suspect they will only have it until the gyms reopen, probably/maybe in June. There is also an on demand version but I think there are only 2 up on Instagram. The live version is also available for 24 hours after he does it live.

@shanaber - good idea not researching too much. Definitely done too much of that myself!
@bearly63 - interesting on the meds. I've had hot flashes for many years, still do at 58. Definitely will see you on Peloton!

My son and DIL asked if we wanted to come over on mother's day. Of course I want to. But, I worry about DIL since she's pregnant (due end of Sept). They are both home and so is Ella, granddaughter (1.5). Still debating.

I just finished a book I couldn't put down, The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain. Really good, IMHO. I ordered a Vitamix 5200!

Dentist was fine. Only annoying thing is they had said I couldn't pick up trays 4-6 because I needed some adjustments between teeth. Then when I got there the dentist looked and said that I don't need an adjustment until before tray 7. It was the asst's error but everyone is stressed out and she probably just looked at it wrong. So they looked in mouth, gave me trays and I left! Oh well, it was only a couple weeks delay. Doesn't really matter at this point.

Weight exactly the same again. This never happens to me, so it's weird that it was just mentioned in here that scales do that! Food was good yesterday. Nothing out of control anyway!

Been working, shopping and having cup of tea, now need to decide what exercise and run I will do before lunch!

@shanaber and @Elise4270 Hugs to both of you. You are doing amazing with everything you are having to deal with at the moment.

My scale is inching it's way up this week. I'm hoping I'll get over the "hump" today and it'll inch back down before Saturday.

@bearly63 I only get hot at 8pm and when I first wake up and the metabolism changes, my face gets itchy and if I touch it, it becomes whelts. I’ve only had a few nights where I am hot and freezing. Luckily I’ve not had and bone density issues, last dxa I was above the 95th %. But I was running then. I know sitting around isn’t helping any.

    Food.
*shrugs* think there are cans of Amy’s soup and fresh mozzarella. Dh bought naan bread and sourdough. Too much bread the last few days and butter. On to exam no.3.

I feel caged today. Be nice to get out for a walk bet I can make that happen if I get my stuff done.

I went out for a run this morning. Some speed work. 1 mile warm up (with Shadow) then:
    600m
    500m
    400m
    300m
    200m
    100m
    100m
    200m
    300m
    400m
    500m
    600m
    With 1:30 recovery between

My times were pretty spot on except my first 100m. Someone had their dogs off leash (illegal BTW) and I had to stop and pet them. These were friendly dogs & I'm glad Shadow was at home. If you want your dog to run in a park (not designated dog park) get a long lead so you can control them if someone comes along! Why is this so hard for people?!

Shocking how crooked my leg is. I hope I don't trip myself on my walk.

WARNING: Cooking can be hazardous to your health. Tonight I did something stupid. I baked some cubed potatoes in a little Corelle skillet. I took it out of the oven, set it on the stove top, and proceeded to pick it up to move it with my bare hand! I didn't hang on long and a cuss word may or may not have come out of my mouth. Funny thing is that it really doesn't hurt, but the places I burned feel swollen and numb. It's just weird. I put it under cool water right away and put vanilla flavoring on it (an old Southern cure). It doesn't look blistered. Guess I'll find out in the morning. I did the same thing with a metal skillet a couple of months ago. It didn't blister either, but a couple of weeks later I noticed the skin peeling and wondered why. I eventually realized it was where I had burned it. Hopefully that will be the case this time.

OUCH! @quilteryoyo!! When I have burned myself (usually taking things out of the oven it hurts immediately and ten about 30-60 minutes later. I think the Southern cure probably has to do with the alcohol that is in most vanilla flavoring. It can help to pull the heat away as it evaporates.
I think we are going to order takeaway from Panera tonight. It is 92F out still and I really don't feel like cooking.
I am still hoping to go for a walk with Hobbes... it may be 8 or 9pm though before it is cool enough (80F)

Skillets get HOT and numbness and lack of pain in a burn is a major worry for a deep burn. If it's not hurting and feels numb, and especially if the area is white, please please take yourself to urgent care. It may be nothing but I'd rather you got it checked out because you are at risk of infection.

And while I love the southern remedy, never ever put anything on a burn other than water. Vanilla flavour has alcohol and can actually make it worse!

    So medical hat off.
I lost 200g (half a pound) over night yay. Nice to have. Hard to stick to plan today, so many goodies around at work, but I am determined to do more than 2 weeks this time. Sick of bouncing. It's afternoon now so just got to get through dinner. Haha.

Long run tomorrow and Saturday so can have a bit of indulgence yay.

Wow. Can I say thank you for sharing! The medical person in me LOVES it, but then you know that.

And hugs. I hope you don't trip.

Guys I made it to the end of the day without going over! I realise I'm aiming for around a 300 calorie deficit now, and that's working well for me. I've tweaked my dairy settings, changed to sedentary because I've become fairly sedentary even at work and the negative adjustments was annoying me haha. So my base calories have dropped down to 1200 again lol but I can now eat back all my exercise calories, whereas before I'd lose about 200 or so with adjustments.

    Long run tomorrow. Can't wait.

Thanks for the input on my burns. @Avidkeo , I didn't see your comment until this morning. The fingers seem to be okay. They didn't hurt at all last night and I can barely tell a difference when they are in hot water. The one area still feels a little numb, but it isn't white. I think I'm okay. Just a stupid thing to do. I don't know where my mind was.

@Avidkeo Great job on staying below your calorie goal. You're doing great. Especially resisting the work goodies!

@Elise4270 Wow! No wonder it is hard for you to exercise. I hope the doc can correct it!

    Hey all:

@shanaber thanks for the info....I will check out that class.

@Elise4270 Wow....your doc is going to be busy! Hope your tests went/are going well.

@quilteryoyo I have done that too....it smarts. Glad its ok.

@ddmom0811 Glad you got your trays. I have heard that scales sometimes remember the last weight and you need to help it unremember by picking up a weight or something. Then reweigh. Who knows. Mine must be menopausal cuz it def has memory issues.

@Avidkeo Good for you....you have it under control.

@RunsOnEspresso Nice run! Absolutely agree....I get freaked out when approaching a big dog not on leash....you never know when they might decide to freak. I have to walk past a beautiful, big german shepard on my street everyday. He is kept in his yard with the "invisible fence" which gives me no sense of peace. He is so chill. Yesterday, however, he decided to sit up and bark at me for no reason. Scared the bejeezus out of me....

Food: No idea yet....besides 2 cups of coffee. Think I will make a recipe I saved years ago. Mahi Mahi Pineapple skewers. It's frozen mahi mahi.

I bought some Italian pizza flour online to perfect my pizza crust. Going to make more on Friday. My scale will have the last laugh.

Beef is starting to run low here. We eat it about once a week because I cannot eat chicken every night and I try to do fish twice a week. I found a few steaks at the store but not grass fed. Threw them in the freezer. I also tried to go online to local ranches with organic, grass feed beef. Not much left.

Exercise: today will be day 2 of some form of strength work. I will go walk soon and then also do a short bike ride.

@Avidkeo right? I told DH, "betcha can't do this". Thanks all for letting me "wah wah" bout it. I didn't go walk. I asked dh to go and he was busy spraying the yard, so I just cut some more tree stick-branches and frumped over it.

My weight is still on an upwards trend of an added pound a month. I told DH that perhaps I needed to go to the doc and figure out why I'm so fat and gaining. He pointed to my spot on the couch and said that's why, I sit there all day. ya... probably. my thighs rub now and its horrrible.

Exam today and study for tomorrows violin final, which she's allowed book work since I am struggling with this shoulder. I am so lucky to have this instructor. She's been so patient with me.

I came across the best nerd word ever yesterday and forgot what it was... oh google, thanks, sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. AKA "brain freeze". It wasn't even on the exam.

    food.
dun know. I hope someone gets a big A pizza and a bucket of fried chicken.

@Elise4270 I believe there is a direct correlation between, age, number of glasses of wine and sphenopalatine ganglion neuralgia. Or maybe its the size of the spoonful of Ben and Jerry's - that causes brain freeze too. Or the size of the gulp of the margarita....

Haha! I have my margarita on the rocks 😅 just to avoid sphenopalatine gangloneuralgia!

Eta. DH entered me in a drawing for some running shoes. Surprise! I won the opportunity to buy a pair, haha! So I can now retire my 3 year old On's with doggie poop on them
