@RunsOnEspresso Your dog is adorable. I love that she knew those things were for her.

WTG @Elise4270 with the calories and turning down Mexican food! That's a weakness of mine, but haven't had it in a while - except for some homemade items. Glad you had a good session on your trainer. Hope the steroid shot kicks in and you get some relief.

Scale was down today. Almost back to my lowest weight this go around. Only 0.2 pounds higher. So, I'm happy to be back in the 130's. Plan an 8 mile run today. It's sunny and warm, so will probably do some of it as a "trail" run back in the pasture field where I take my dog for walks and the rest driveway laps. That way it will be shady, cooler, and I can stop at the house for hydration and nutrition. Don't really feel like running out the rural road in the sun.

@elise4270 Shadow does not know the definition of patience. LOL

Headed out for a run today. I was going to do 12k but it was not my day. Shadow didn't want to go so I dropped her off after a mile rather than force her to go. She mostly wanted to go home because dad was still there. I almost didn't go back out but did. I ended up doing a very slow 5k and calling it. My body had no energy. I walked quite a bit. It took me over 50 minutes. So I'll try the 12k tomorrow. TMI WARNING! I had my period this week and kept trying to walk, run and do some strength training so I think my body is just fatigued. If I get 12k tomorrow, awesome. If I go out and only get 5k? Awesome.

I think I should have eaten more yesterday. I did my 8 miles today, but it was really, really hard. Food probably had something to do with that.

@elise4270 yay for being a bit more active, and well done on the food. I also love Mexican, so definitely hard to turn down.

@quilteryoyo those days are hard, hugs.

@RunsOnEspresso go you listing to your body. Very hard to do that, and love your perspective.

Well i actually ended yesterday in a deficit. Not sure how much but tracker said 800 calories. Thing is strava gave me 200 extra calories for my run than I think i burned, and it's hard tracking restaurant food.

I estimated 1500 calories for lunch which sounds like a lot, but 2 eggs, 2 potato rosti cakes, a piece of fried chicken, 1/4 donut with icecream, chocolate sauce and a chocolate milkshake? Probably fairly accurate! Lol.

So because this week is a Cutback week, I'm going hard on the deficit. Hope to get under 64.5kg. Still got a couple of days for the water weight to fully come off. So goal thus week is deficit every day.

@RunsOnEspresso - such a cute dog! And usually I can never get good pictures of black dogs, but that one is great! (One of my son's dogs is a black lab mix).
@avidkeo - love that you have a great attitude about you need to eat more for your long runs! I need some of that mindset!
@quilteryoyo - yep, that will do it! Agree on Mexican food!
@elise4270 - the scale will move, you will flatten the curve!
@shanaber- hope you and Hobbes are recovering after your hot run! I hope the doctor has some good news for you next week.

The wind was going to be really strong today so DH and I decided to not ride and go tomorrow. Peloton arrives Wednesday, so I figure I'll be spinning then anyway! So we went to grocery store early and I bought some ingredients for Gazpacho from the Vitamix recipe book that came with it. Weird thing one there was a step missing. It says to put half the tomatoes, cucumber, etc. in and blend a certain time. Then it has other steps. But it never says when to put in the other half of what was used in step one. Weird. I studied it for ten minutes. I looked online thinking I'd find it with the correction, but there were many other versions. Anyway DH said it was really good! I don't actually like that type of soup but he loves it and it looked fun to make so I did. I made myself a smoothie that was SO good. He always scowls at my green smoothies and I had him try it and he admitted it was delish!

So then I lifted w/FitBod, did a core workout with Peloton, and then a 45 minute "NYC training run" with Peloton on the treadmill. That was really fun. Of course you know I'm addicted to Robin Arzon on Peloton anyway. I don't plan on running a marathon but it was fun to pretend!

Yeah for the food and workout @ddmom0811 ! You are doing great.

@Avidkeo You're doing great with the food. I'm sure you'll lose some weight this week.

With my run today, I still have 1640 calories to eat. I haven't had dinner yet. Planning on chicken, baked potatoes, and a salad. Will need to snack later.

I've been trying to work with Shadow a little bit at a time on the agility. She can focus and do well for a few minutes but then she gets hyper focused on treats and can't do anything.

I did get her to go through the tunnel several times. I practiced walking in circles and got her to do a couple figure 8s with 2 poles.

Food for today? Meh. Waiting for the leftover homemade pizza to have for dinner. I'm pretty sure I'm blowing calorie goals yesterday and today but I did really well this week considering it was my period. Usually I eat everything haha

@avidkeo - You are doing great both running and eating! I am sure your weight will be dropping with all your running.
@quilteryoyo - you had a great run too and that is a lot of calories leftover!
@RunsOnEspresso - I would keep your sessions with Shadow really short at first. Note that pups get 'tunnel suction', find it so fun and only want to go in the tunnel 😊 Even in class we do a single run and then take a break while other dogs do their turn.
@ddmom0811 - I know when I make peanut butter the recipe has you add some peanuts, grind them then add more. Maybe with the gazpacho that is what they wanted you to do?

Last night we ended up going out for Mediterranean food. It was so good. I had a chicken kebob with pilaf and pita chips and fresh hummus. We will definitely be going back.
Tonight I made Chinese from TJs. It is simple and easy and sometimes that is the best.

Saw the echocardiogram report but have no clue what it means. Will have to wait to talk to the cardiologist and have him decipher it for me.

Tomorrow is a class and strength day and I think we will bbq some chicken for dinner.

Just about 6pm here. Had yoghurt and peaches for breakfast, chicken salad sandwich for lunch, and a chicken pita melt for dinner. I still have about 200 calories before I hit goal. I want to leave about 100 as my exercise calories is a bit odd atm, though I know from previous experience I should earn an extra 100 - 150 or so on top of any tracked exercise with my current settings, but given I had 2 big blow out days last week, ita nice to balance a little. Sigh have I mentioned I miss my watch!

I'll see how I feel later. I stop eating at 7pm, so ill see if I fancy a small snack once the kids are in bed.

@RunsOnEspresso Sounds like you are doing great with Shadow.

The Mediterranean food sounds delicious @shanaber . Hope you get answers soon.

@Avidkeo Do you know how long it will take to get your watch back?
  • RunsOnEspresso
    RunsOnEspresso Posts: 3,218 Member
@shanaber We did about 5-10 minutes at a time. That's about alll she has attention for now.

Weighed in this morning but only remembered after I drank half a cup of coffee. Same exact weight as last Sunday. I also took some measurements and compared to January. Lost 2.5 inches (.5 from waist and 2 from hips)

@Avidkeo - a chicken pita melt sounds so good! What do you put in yours? I want to make pitas. I found a recipe but it has been too hot to want the oven on. Maybe to day or tomorrow since it is supposed to cool off and potentially rain.
I have the same question as @quilteryoyo. Did they give you any idea of how long it will be before they send your watch back? Have you heard anything from them?

@RunsOnEspresso - that is a great NSV with the loss of inches even if the scale hasn't moved clearly something is working there!

I couldn't sleep last night... was still wide awake at 2am after rolling around this way and that for 3.5 hours. I know a nap is in my future this afternoon. I will do my class and strength workout later but I may need to nap first.

No idea on food yet other than dinner will be grilled chicken.

I allowed myself to sleep in (as much as Shadow would allow), had coffee and oatmeal then headed out for my run.

I'm definitely feeling better today. I think my body was rundown a bit yesterday. I took Shadow out around the block, not quite a mile then went on my own. I took it slow but managed to do my 12k (rounded to 7.5 miles). When I started it was 79° and 90° when I was done! Took walk breaks as needed.

Now I think I'll finish my book while my body cools down.

The scale is still 6 pounds over my do something weight. Which is 10 pounds from acceptable, 13 pounds from where I wanna be... What the heck! Sure it’s gonna get moving, just being impatient. I did over eat yesterday but it was on dried cranberries. I wonder if the “added” carbs as opposed to the high fat diet I like so much, isn’t the best for me. Of course, the drop in weight I would be seeing on the high fat/low carb would likely be just water... so.. I keep telling myself “nothing wrong with veggies and the carbs as long as it’s not refined, (did eat a cauliflower pizza yesterday. Could argue that as refined).

    Today’s food?
I’m feeling the possibility of poor choices since the scale isn’t going my way. So I should throw some chicken in the IP and plan a chicken soup before I tell dh I want that Mexican food, or bbq, or tacos, or fried chicken...

    Hormonal changes
Face is still calmer. I have more energy, but felt depressed yesterday.. er a funk. Tired. The twice daily turmeric seems like it might be helping. My back is better, leg hurts a bit less. Shoulder is still being resistant to improvement.

The more I clean the dirtier the house is. Cat office improvement is in progress. Bear loves all the activity and has a kitten fort of styrofoam. He loves the noise and a hiding place. He’s helping dh but much like a 4 year old helps, in the way and in everything! He likes showing off by laying on his back and scooting along and under the futon, like running upside-down. Just silly.

    Exercise/ 100 days of adulting
Not sure. I took a break yesterday, other than chores. It’s windy and allergies will be horrible so perhaps the bike. Still haven’t missed violin, but did poopoo pt yesterday. The shoulder was extra angry. Studying? No... don’t think I did any. I though about it, but couldn’t find my head phones. Sometimes if I’m tired I just play picmonic’s and fall asleep.

@shanaber good luck with the cardiologist report. I hope the remedy is something that brings you comfort and not anxiety. I should get a surgery date tomorrow, I am anxious, I wanna get it done but just want it to go away and not deal with it. I feel like it’s about to get hard and I have to push through. I can imagine you might have similar feelings. I’m planning for next semester, books, space/supplies, habits and part of me wonders why am I bothering when I have this huge hurdle before me. Just keep looking through, not at this emotional blob of an obstacle.

@RunsOnEspresso I always wait until the morning bm until I weigh... after coffee. I think psychologically I think it’ll be less after I go! Sounds like the puppy dog training is fun for the both of you!

@elise4270 - I know what you mean about the more you clean... the dirtier it gets. Hope you are out of the funk today. It seems as though the whole world is in a funk.

Did a 3 hour bike ride, not particularly fast, but Garmin only said it was 780 calories. Weird, usually that's at least 1000. Then 1 mile on Treadmill. Had delicious Uber Eats delivery of a veggie burst bagel sandwich. So good! Read an article about how little restaurants make from Uber Eats and now I feel bad about using them. I didn't know they were taking a cut out of the price on the menu! Probably take away Indian tonight from the really good restaurant with the long wait. I decided I would call it in early and hopefully the wait won't be so long. But I shall just wait if I have to!

Such a relief my seniors are done! Now I only have 18 students left (but they are spread among 4 classes). 3 more weeks! Then I have to face working on the master schedule for the school, which is completely unpredictable, not knowing if we have to social distance, what enrollment will be, or what we have to do.

Doing well on food and weight was okay today. Down a little bit but still 2.5 to go to the preferred range.

    Morning guys.

@RunsOnEspresso and @shanaber they haven't even received it yet! I checked the tracking yesterday and it was waiting to be delivered!! I paid for overnight and its taken 3 days, damned covid causing so many delays. Sigh. But I'm getting used to strava I guess. Went out for 6.5k this morning, and pushed a little harder than usual cause I wanted a harder run. It was great. Still miss the watch but I'll survive.

The pita melt was pita bread stuffed with pesto, cheese (I used gouda) and roast chicken. I do the same using smoked chicken some times. Then pressed on the sandwich press. I assume that's what a melt is haha. Something I've only heard about in movies.

@RunsOnEspresso yay for the inches lost! That's awesome!

@ddmom0811 there was a huge outcry when we started doing takeaways/delivery again about how much uber charges, and a group of locals got together to start their own delivery service. But it's been 2 weeks now and I suspect peop have gone back to their old habits.

I ended up doing well yesterday, and had a drop of 1lb this morning! Given how much I was peeing yesterday I'm not surprised. If I follow my usual trend I'll have another drop today, then Will stall for a couple of days, then hopefully have another small loss. Will see.

Have already planned and logged my food for the day, banana pre run, coffee and muesli with yoghurt for breakfast. Another chicken pita melt for lunch. We are having fish for dinner so tracked something to cover that. Got fruit for snacks - a kiwifruit and a pear. And some chocolate yoghurt I may or may not eat (stollen from the kids).

Whew that sounds like a lot of food haha.
Going to be busy today, my students are back in the department today. First time for them in about 8 months. Looking forward to having them but oi. Lots of work.

@RunsOnEspresso Yeah for the inches lost! Who cares about the number on the scale? Oh, we all do, but still, the inches lost is amazing. Great run. What are you reading?

@shanaber I hope you get in a good nap this afternoon. I didn't sleep as well as usual either. Must be something in the air.

@Elise4270 Keep adulting. The weight will eventually go down. I often have months of plateau, then drop 5 - 10 pounds in one month. I know how you feel though. Hope you get your surgery scheduled soon so you can begin the healing process.

Yeah on the weight loss @Avidkeo .

I was down almost a pound today. I'm sure that won't last. Sunday's are always poor (delicious) food days since my mom cooks and I go eat with them. Today we had fish, hush puppies, corn, mashed potatoes, and cherry yum yum. Good luck to @Avidkeo and @ddmom0811 with the new school situations.

Hello Peeps. I have been out of pocket. Decided to do a Peloton challenge yesterday with a group of people (I have so many new virtual friends.....which is weird lol!) Rode for 2 hours and burned like 900 calories. I am getting better at the endurance thing.

We had the house to ourselves this weekend - first time since March. We hung out last night, made pizza and watch ed The Blues Brothers. Never gets old.

We got up and ran today....I did a Peloton Run/Walk 5K training class....it was fun. Very easy - my cardio fitness has really improved with the bike. I went easy to test the hip. It felt fine until the last few minutes....a little sore. No idea what that means. Will see how it feels tomorrow.

Today is my birthday. I feel 47. I am ten years older than that according to the calendar. My bones are probably 67. My attitude is 27. or 17 depending on the day and time of the week. A great place to be....younger every year is the goal.

Food: I am a good MFP soldier and I am sure I ate back all of my calories for the last 2 days exercise. Tacos, pizza, breakfast tacos. My birthday cake will be brownies with ice cream. Preceded by a cocktail or wine, and some grilled chicken.

Hope everyone has a good week, gets good news from appts, finds some great recipes to cook, has great runs and walks and enjoys their fur babies.

Don't know if yall are on twitter. I am addicted. I laugh a lot and get mad a lot so it balances out. This made me laugh. Hopefully you can see it. If not I will explain it.

I finished Library of Souls which was supposed to be the final book in Miss Peregrines Peculiar Children. There's now 2 more books! It's a good series. YA so easy to read but still interesting enough to keep attention.

Next up How Bad Do You Want It by Matt Fitzgerald. Trying to get my headon straight for all the miles I want to run but can't seem to get past 18-20 mile long runs.

I read that one a while back & followed the plan for a while. I struggled with it because I prefer my plan in miles over minutes. But it was a good plan/book!

@RunsOnEspresso I usually wind up adding some easy minutes onto his runs to get to an "even" mileage stopping point. For the long runs, he does specify mileage. I'm a lot slower than he is expecting people to be though. Yesterday's run called for 8 miles that should take between 56 - 96 minutes, depending on your pace. Me. I took 117 minutes! LOL I do like the plan a lot better than Jeff Galloway's, simply because Jeff's is run between 35 - 45 minutes 3 days a week and then do a long run. At least Matt changes things up a bit with fast finish, intervals, hill repeats, etc.

    Happy Birthday @bearly63!!
Love the video! Made me laugh - that is like the tunnel I have for agility for Hobbes at home. I lost the things to tether it in the ground and when the wind would blow it Hobbes would attack it like that 😂
My stress fracture in my foot aches still sometimes (it has been over a year ago that I was released to run again). I am not sure if that would be the same for the one in your femur but it was kind of scary. The ortho nurse said it was normal as long as it didn't swell and/or continue to hurt.

@avidkeo - it seems like you sent it back weeks ago! I hope they get it today and you hear back from them on what the issue is.
@elise4270 - I think knowing what you know about your surgery and the recovery makes the waiting and scheduling all the worse. Hopefully this time it will fix it for good! I don't think we can make comparisons though. Yes, mine is scary at times, usually because of my own brain weasels, but I am not in pain or unable to do so many of the things I love to do. You continue to amaze me with your strength and attitude and just getting things done everyday!
@ddmom0811 - we don't use UberEats either - it is already so tough for the restaurants to make a go of it and almost all are offering free delivery to try and drive up business. We would rather just go and have them put it in the back of the car so they can keep all the 'profit' such as it is.
    @quilteryoyo - mmmm hushpuppies!

I took my class this morning, then a nap and never did my strength straining workout. I think my body needed a break or at least that is my excuse. I am hoping I have chased the weasels out of my brain so I can sleep tonight.

It is supposed to be cool and drizzly, maybe even rainy, tomorrow and I am looking forward to a run. I am also making banana bread tomorrow because our neighbor (Hilde) was given a huge number of too ripe bananas. Maybe I will get the pitas made too...

@shanaber it was just over a week ago it was having issues, I decided to keep it for the weekend, and it started working fine, then suddenly on Tuesday it went back to having issues, so sent it away that day. Took nearly a week to get to them, it's there now.

I did well. Was still hungry after dinner so had some yoghurt and banana, so tasty. It's a protein yoghurt with manuka honey. I technically ended about 100 calories over goal but I know that I would have burned that in addition normally so either I'm bang on goal, or up to 100 over, so still about 400 in deficit. So yay.

    Happy belated birthday @bearly63!

I’m too tired today. Dd and I have an early eye appointment. Then hopefully some breakfast, maybe drive thru chick fil a. I am going to pitch the idea of her living on campus in the fall (covid willing) to transition her into adulting more. Planting seeds.

I never found the energy yesterday to get violin practice in. I did do my shoulder pt and was encouraged. I did a few muddy chores, nothing significant; moved some clippings I had in water to the dirt of a silvery bush thing that takes over the walk. I sat with beary a bit outside till he bit the underside of my upper arm and ran. Lil fart. It was an invite to play, not being a bad cat. Er I don’t think, I was talking to the diet cat, beanie... he might have been jealous. No deliberate exercise either yesterday. I did study-ish yesterday, various medical cases on figure 1.

    Yesterday’s food
I cooked a ricotta stuffed French toast with banana and blueberry. It was fine. Dinner was homemade stir fry with ginger rice. Was good.

    Weight.
Still haven’t braved the scale, but I feel like perhaps the belly is softening some. The weather is better today, no rain or wind perhaps a walk. Although, my hips are still uneven and is contributing to back pain. So... I may not. I can’t seem to get it back where it needs to go and it’s been out of place for sometime now. I find myself walking crooked, at an angle. So, if I get a call to schedule surgery today, I might take ASAP depending on how I feel in the moment.

    Today’s food?
    Coffee...
left over chicken and something to put with it.

    Do good today.
