@shanaber My weight is at the OMG stage too - the number I never wanted to be over again. I always seem to gain weight in the summer, when I'm more active. It really makes no sense. Maybe the rheumatologist will have some answers or maybe you are just at a really big plateau and you haven't gotten to the edge yet.

    Good morning!

It is nice be back in and able to brain dump everyday LOL Sorry!

@quilteryoyo I think I need to do 13 to get the minimum. I used to be able to max them out at 42 (in 1 min) but after I broke my arm, they got really really hard.

@shanaber I put my tenant up in a hotel for the move. All she had to do was take her stuff off of shelves and cupboards. And yeah, I think she does not tell me things because she is afraid I will decide to get rid of the mobile. She is only paying $900 a month which is probably half of what I should be charging. She is probably the last tenant in there, it is old. I want her to stay since her rent covers all the property taxes and repairs and I don't have to budget for that.

Yesterday went pretty well. I think the new property line is marked, I have not checked and never heard back (typical). I left another message for the mobile repair company and no return call. I am not in a huge rush so I will give it a few days since they are a family business. Work is slow. I need to work on a resume. DH and I agreed that no matter what, I will take 6 months off after I retire.

I had a decent run yesterday. I really didn't want to and it was hot (80). I brought my new Saucony Pros, I had never run in a carbon plate before because they have always been so expensive, and honestly I was not impressed. I felt pretty much no rebound and I felt like I had a lump under my toes. They weren't bad, they just felt basic. Tomorrow I am going to run in my tried and true Endorphin Speeds with a nylon plate and see if it is me or them. I have been running with the nylon plate for over a year so maybe I am used to the rebound (aka I've gotten lazy). I did 6x400's for a total of 3.5 miles. My avg was 9:20 on the 400's but there were a few too many outlier splits for my liking. Also did my Peloton 10 min shoulders and ouch.

Nothing planned for the day. Going to enjoy the lull, both kitties are doing well. After an $80 visit the Vet admitted grey cat had a full allergic reaction to the amoxycillin.

Weight came in at 172 so not terrible, at least I did not gain last week.

@CMorning99 Thirteen pushups would be a lot for me, regardless of the time limit. I think it is because of my scoliosis that it is so hard for me to do them....plus I'm just lazy and don't try. I've always had awful upper body strength. That run sounds pretty speedy to me. I hope your old shoes feel better. Taking 6 months off after you retire is a great idea. Yeah for not gaining weight last week!

    Good morning!

Today is my friday and we have a 4 day weekend! So happy! But we are going to be busy though.

The mobile repair company called me back finally. Now they are going to call me back and let me know when they can come out and look at the trailer. So we wait again. Today I meet with the fencing guy and see what we can do for how cheap.

Tomorrow and this weekend (DH is thrilled) I am picking up the materials to do the skirting on the trailer. Then we have to paint it all (DH and I both "thrilled"). But it is for the best we preserve it. Then next week the handyman and I are going to put it up (big hopes and plans there). I don't think we have anything else planned, DH has 3 days off.

Wrapped up another month of reselling. Sold 88 items for a grand total of $950 after taxes and expenses. That was 22 more items than last month and only $20 more profit. Although in July was when I found those lenses and that really helped, with out them, July would have been dismal. Still dumbfounded on what is going on, why this is not taking off (comparing myself to other resellers). This weekend I am running a 40% off sale on my eBay store to move some old inventory. I almost bought a liquidation pallet yesterday of nordstroms rack stuff, but decided not too, that stuff is usually oversaturated and on liquidation for a reason and after COVID prices went up. I think avg price was $9.64 an item.

DH and I talked this AM about what we would do if we didn't get this rental. I suggested maybe looking into buying a house near base...we would know we would always have renters. The only set back we could come up with was I would need to get a job so we could then get a second mortgage when our house was built. Not the end of the world but not what I had hoped for. It would be temporary and I could quit once we get the loan but that doesn't seem nice. I am sure people do it all the time though. Oh and housing prices are cray cray around base...a 3 bed / 2 bath avg price is $800K and go fast.

Went for a run yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I did a "strength" run where I set a working pace and held it for 1.75 miles after 1 mile warm up. When I did it 2 weeks ago I was pretty comfortable but was done at the end at a 11:14 mile. Yesterday I kept trying to slow down and finally gave up and said "you did this to yourself, now you gotta hold it" and I came in at a 10:42 mile. I was def a bit more tired than before but was not dying. I probably should find a new running path that does not have a net downhill though LOL. I suspect I will probably be able to get down to a 9:30 pace by mid/late Oct for my test. After that I might try to chip away at the 5K time again...I have always wanted to run a sub 24 min 5K...I came close once at 26 min.

Well, that is about it I reckin' . Have a great weekend and stay cool!

@CMorning99 I hope you get the things done that you are planning to do over the weekend. Sorry your reselling business isn't picking up. Maybe the closer it gets to Christmas you'll see an increase. I guess getting a job temporarily wouldn't be the end of the world, but lets keep our fingers crossed that you will get the rental. When will you know for sure? Sounds like you are doing great with your running. You are going to kill that fitness test!

    Hi all!

I've been busy with school, chores, animals, music... hmmm. The psychiatrist I saw a year ago-ish said I used distraction as a coping mechanism. I kinda see that now.

    Aches and pains
The lyrica helps. It's made me so tired, I'm here but just not engaged fully. I think it is suppose to get better though. OMG. My hip doc retired... and I finally found my new docs profile online, cuz I need another steroid shot.... ya'll... he's beautiful.

I'm not sure I can go see him without turning into a teenage girl or desperate old lady.

    Animals
All doing well. Kevin is pushing it since I've been in class a few days away from him. He is just going to have to go to daycare whether Eric likes it or not. @shanaber Baby cat is little still, she is just too big for her britches big. She's a sweet thing though. I think she has a chicken intolerance/allergy. She has an addiction to "crunches" (treats) and has learned to knock them over to get them. This morning she, or someone tore a hole in the new cat food bag, duck & pea. She is the pickiest cat I have ever seen.

Just popping into say "hi". Hope everyone is well.

@CMorning99 - hope things went well for you over the long weekend and you were able to get lots done.

Hi @swenson19d! Your new doctor is a cutie and looks SO young!! Hope he has a great personality and patient rapport!
Could Kevin go to school with your as your service animal? I am sure he would love the attention but he would have to sit still during class. I think one of the big differences between cats and dogs is that cats are generally picky and dogs will eat just about anything.

We handed Beaux off on Friday to another friend of his parents. Hobbes seemed generally sad to see him go and was looking for him around the house. Hobbes was also exhausted and I don't think he cloud have handled much more. I also find it a bit exhausting because I have forgotten how much work puppies are and he is so busy and in to everything.
Friday night we went to the Hollywood Bowl. It wasn't supposed to rain there until early Sat morning, even though it had already started raining at our house. DH wasn't thrilled to be going but we were bringing the main course for dinner for our friends and I wasn't about to bail out on them. When we got to the parking there (took 2 hours!) we weren't early enough to be on the outside of the stacked parking. We headed up to the entrance in the rain and I remembered that I had towels in the car so I ran back and got them. We used them to wipe down the table and chairs for dinner. The rain was so heavy that there were rivers of water running down the tablecloth but we still had fun. The rain stopped for the most part when we headed up to our seats and for the opening group. By the time Duran Duran came on though it was pouring. We stayed for about half of their set before deciding we were just too wet to sit there any longer so we all headed back down to the cars. Our friends were there early and parked on the outside lane of the stacked parking so they were able to leave. We unfortunately were stuck but were able to dry off a little in the car. Our friends made it home and we were still sitting in the parking lot but were able to watch the fireworks from the car in the pouring rain. I had wondered if they would be able to set them off with it so wet out. Oh also it was hot - in the 90's for the most part. This was also the first time in all the years we have been going that we have had rain and they don't allow umbrellas. I weighed in today and am finally down a little. Trying just to be as consistent as possible. Maybe all those walks while Beaux was here helped too even though it was too hot to actually run much.

@shanaber I took Kevin once as a therapy dog... he loved it, BUT scared one who apparently is afraid of dogs. She squealed in class and interrupted class, er Kev did. Then he got tired and wanted to leave, kept being a pest. then half fell asleep and heard people outside the door and BARKED! scared the ***** out of everyone. so... nah. he aint going and getting me in trouble with a program that I just got back in LOL! I might take him to day care near the school though. Eric won't take him... I'm working on correcting that. 4 hours of class was too long for him. The other day is 8-330, even longer. But I can do day care. it's just an hours drive with him. He is good in the car, sometimes gets TMI... some rear issues. toots and an excess of mucous that doesnt smell nice.

must go outside with Sandy. She has to have an escort. she has been peeing on the rug cuz she won't go alone... day care.

    Good morning folks!

    Been quiet on here.

@Shanaber I am so jealous you got to see Duran Duran! And jealous about the rain!

I am marching a long. Submitted my retirement papers last week so now I am just waiting for them to be approved. I asked for 1 Sep 23 as my official retirement date so that will give me 24 years 20 days. I tried to ask for the 5th so I could have 24 years 24 days but they said no, I was already 20 days over.

So ranch. Moved mobile seems to be holding up still. DH and I took 2 days off work last week (we both had time off we had to use anyway) and the plan was to go up and help build the skirting around the deck. Our bestie handyman was going to do it so we were on his time...slow living time LOL. I think we got the framing done and just need to cut and put up the lattice. We also replaced some exterior plugs and we still need to do the bathtub drain. The mobile home repair company called me back and let me know they would call me a gain to schedule an appt, they never did. I love using small companies but damn! I look back now on the mobile movers (who I like as people) and they really didn't do a great job...and I still don't have a bill. Handyman said mover guy was venting the other day when he came up to see his daughter about how he hated the job and was in a "mountain of money". IDK what that means, I am paying for it. I got the quote for the fencing and it was $12K for just under 1K ft of fencing...and that is with using my own wire! I asked about just doing the tenants yard and they still wanted $6K for 415 ft with using my own wire and half my own t-posts. Buggers. I didn't do it.

We got another hearing scheduled for the property split so hopefully we will have all the formalities done by Jan and maybe sell in Feb/Mar. No movement from the draftsman. So freaking mad. An odd thing happened. Mom's old boyfriend (they dated for like 15 years long distance) called out of the blue yesterday...I think he is like 94. He and Mom had not talked for probably 18 years? He left her for his aerobics instructor. He did call about 3 months after mom died, not sure how he found out, and said he was sorry but then almost gleefully? asked what I was going to do with all the land...it was really weird how he asked. Now he and mom bought that land together back in the late 80's but when mom started to figure out he was cheating, she asked him to do a quit claim on his half and he did (he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box). I know for years after he tried to recoup some money from Mom but she just blocked his number. He has called 3x now and it is weird, I am 100% sure I am on speaker and he only talks for about 4 min and then ends the convo. He asks about the trial and the land. So he called again, same routine he asks if I have started building yet, if I am still in the service, and the trial. So what is weird, about 2 hours after that call I get a 1 ring and hanging up (like someone accidently called me) from his daughter. His daughter was nice to me when I was a kid, I remember her taking me back to school shopping and I think I stayed with her once in HS. But honestly have not talked to her in 25 years. What sort of worries me is she is a lawyer, I may just be paranoid, but I just wonder if they are trying to do something to get some money out of the land. I have never told him I was selling some of it so IDK. We shall see.

Black cat and grey cat are hanging in there. Grey cat is slowing down a lot faster lately but still has a good appetite and happy to sleep 23hrs out of the day near us.

I haven't run in over a week. I am now 35 days out from PT test and 10% more fit LOL. I bought some recovery protein shakes at Costco, they are pre-made, going to start drinking one for bfast...no excuses. It was blazing hot all weekend and none of my shorts fit...I resorted to wearing my PJ shorts that are extra stretchy.

@CMorning99 - Duran Duran were great but it would have been better w/o the rain!
Congratulations on filing your retirement papers! Whoohoo the end is in sight! 😁

Sounds like you are making progress on the mobile home. I agree about using small, owner/family owned, businesses but they do tend to be flaky. We have tried to get a few contractors who are highly recommended but never call back. I figure if they don't call back after repeated attempts then they must not need/want the business.

I would worry about your mom's boyfriend and his daughter too - definitely sounds like they are up too something. Maybe you should block them too?

I get protein shakes at Costco too - the Premier Protein ones. They are the best tasting in my opinion. I also have a protein powder (Tera's Bourbon Vanilla) that I like to add to smoothies and the like.

Hope you are able to get it together for the PT test. What happens if you don't make whatever criteria they have?

I am finally losing a little, and I mean a little. Down from nearly 155 to 150. Been trying to keep my protein levels up and am looking again for high protein snacks and easy lunch entrees (not grilled chicken breast). Something I have been looking for/working on for a few years now 😂

    Good morning and happy Monday!

Sure is quiet on here! But here is my weekly update.

Still NO CONTACT from the draftsman. I have sent him 2 texts and 2 emails in 2 weeks nearly begging him to give me an update. On Wednesday I am going to call (I hate having to call) and if I get nothing by the end of the month, I am going to tell him contract is over...and we are back at square one after 1 year...again. I missed a call from the mobile home repair folks, I called back but they have yet to return. le sigh...glad this is not an emergency...I hope (It is raining today). I got the bill from the mobile movers and it was the exact form they sent me for the quote, even with my "nice to haves" which didn't happen (but wasn't charged for, invoice just says it would be extra). I suspect they have a sus record keeping policy.

My retirement papers are at the last stop before approval. I also learned that when I have approved retirement orders, I am exempt from my fitness test! Best news ever LOL.

Still looking at options for after retirement. I have friends who are currently retiring and they are going full corporate. IDK, I am just not that excited to jump right in. Big difference is that they have kids and bills. They keep sending me reading material on resumes and interviews...it all sounds so dreary.

Reselling is average. Still no growth in my sales and sitting at 1/2 of my needed income. Been working hard on getting all the pallets I bought in February done. The company I bought them from is now out of business, I bought used clothes pallets and I finally went through it and ended up putting about half on the curb for free. I really hate un-manifested cargo, but it is so much cheaper.

Kitties are still doing well. Grey cat even had the old man zoomies this morning, it was adorable. Black cat is pre-diabetic from his steroids so we are cutting him back so we can hopefully reverse it and increasing his chemo since he has gained so much weight (he was previously on 10lb cat dose, he is now nearly 12lbs).

Weight is holding steady at 172. I am not making much effort. Finally drinking my protein shakes in the AM, I am starving. Maybe with the stress of taking a fitness test gone, I will be more willing to workout with what I want to do. I really think when I retire I will lose weight, I am so active on my days off vs sitting at my desk all day.

    Have a great RAINY week!

    Good morning!

    Quiet out there!

Just an update from last week. It was a good week but took a toll on me...so some highlights.

1)I ate pizza 4 days out of 7
    2) I ate Burger King 3 days out of 7
    3) I sat 4 hours in the sun an burned my knees
    4) I did NOT drink enough water

All this led to me going home at 1:30pm on Friday feeling like $h1t. The head spinning, nauseous, can't stop yawning ick. A bunch of water and a nap helped but I was tired all weekend.

It was a week of No's for sure: No word from landlord on rental, No word from draftsman, No word from mobile home repair guys. I really want to just throw it all up and say F it all!

It wasn't all bad - gotta keep perspective. Reselling did well and sourcing was pretty good too. My shoulder "cooperated" when I went to the clinic to ask for an MRI and it was extra grindy. My retirement was approved! I don't have to take my final fitness test because I am retiring!!!!

This week I have a lot of little stuff I need to do. Pick up refills, find my referrals and make appts, pay the electric bill. Work is picking up, we have 3 major inspections in the next 2 months. I feel like since we are a small base, they happen a lot more frequently.

Best get to it! Have a great first week of Fall!

@CMorning99 - It is quiet here. Seems like we lost @rheddmobile and @Avidkeo and then everyone else kind of dropped off other than the occasional check in.
I'm sorry things aren't going well with all the 'No's'. I know it is frustrating but hopefully things will start moving in the right direction.
Glad all the other things are going well and that your retirement was approved! Did you get results from the MRI and a plan for getting your shoulder fixed?

Not sure how it is where you are but it is so hot here again. I have been getting out to run if I can early in the morning. I was so enjoying the few cool days we were having. Now when it is over 80 by 8am I just want to stay inside. I ran in the heat on Saturday and planned to go out on Sunday but when my alarm went off I turned it off and went back to sleep for another 2 hours! Today I got up and out the door early so for the most part it was pretty pleasant although I was drenched when I got home. Went to agility class tonight and it was 87 me at 8pm when we were heading home - yuck!

I have been reading about fueling for endurance 'older' women athletes and essentially it is the same information that the nutritionist told me a few years ago... eat more to fuel and recover from workouts, more protein, more natural foods and more calories - minimum 1900 calories for me. I did lose weight when I was eating that way and that many calories and lately I barely hit 1400 most days. I need to do better. I see my PCP in a couple of weeks. Not likely I will have lost much by then but it is what I need to do regardless.

My DD is coming this weekend - gets here Thursday evening. She will be busy with friends but I am excited to see her for as much as we can.

Wish it actually felt like Fall! I am longing to need to wear sweaters and sweatshirts again!

    Hey Folks!

    How is everyone! Happy FALL!!!

Things are moving along...sorta. Slowly checking things off my to do list. Officially fired my draftsman last week, he didn't even acknowledge. Signed a contract with an architect firm yesterday, they seem way more professional...and expensive. But they understand my timelines and are up for the challenge.

Paid $2K for the new stairs for the old mobile home...my tenant had LOTS of opinions. Now I just need to sort out the fence. I told her she could have control over that one (me hoping she would just do it and send me the bill LOL)...but all she did was send me a list of handymen she found on FB. Got ghosted by the mobile repair folks...need to find a new one of them. I keep telling myself to just get it done...the sooner I do the sooner I can forget about it.

Lots of new admin systems rolling out in the Air Force...my patience is thin with them as they have all the same issues as before and very little guidance on what to do with them was released. Lots of hype, but lack functionality.

    Still waiting on med appointments.

I haven't exercised in 2 weeks and not really cared about what I am eating...I am not out of control, but not thinking. I should get on the scale.

Reselling is picking up. So much drama on the platforms. But so far I have met my goal for the first 4 days of Oct

Stressing a bit about post retirement. Really struggling with what others think I should want to do with what I want to do. It doesn't help that reselling is a very volatile market an I am not making a whole lot yet...definitely have some confidence issues. Then when people ask me what job I am going to take or what I am going to do, I start to second guess myself and think well, maybe I should just take the job even though I don't like it. DH is completely neutral. Humph.

Grey cat is hanging in there LOL. He is declining but he is still very busy and happy. Black cat got some blood work showing he was pre-diabetic. The vet thinks his blood sugar is due to the prednisone. So we cut the steroids way back and upped his chemo (still a very low dose) but now he has stopped eating and lost quite a bit of weight. Waiting to hear back on what we should do.

    Well, Tally Ho!

@CMorning99 - I have been thinking about you and wondering how things were going. Happy to see your update.
You have so much on your plate right now! Between work and all the planning for the house and work on the mobile home on top of your reselling, I am amazed you aren't exhausted every night. At this point I think maybe you shouldn't be worrying so much about what you are going to do once you retire. Maybe just focus on what you need to do now and get some of that out of the way and see where things are once retirement is closer.

So glad the kitties are doing ok and hanging in there! I hope the adjustment in meds gets worked out for Black kitty

I have been able to run a bit more the last couple of weeks as it is a little cooler here. Hobbes is getting older though and not wanting to go with me as much any more. I am taking him in next week for titers and a check up. He is starting to stumble a little and missing when he jumps up at home. He still does fine at agility. My weight is down a little too which is good cause I see my PCP next Monday for my annual check up.

I'm not sure who all is still following along here but thought I would post that Handful it having a big sale on their bras, some tops and bottoms. Not all colors though are included. You can find the sale items here
The discount code is GETIT40 - essentially everything at the link (those colors) are 40% off. Its a pretty good deal if you need bras and I also ordered a long sleeve top.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I've just been super duper busy. Not a great excuse, but it's the only one I have.

@CMorning99 Glad your retirement was approved and you don't have to worry about your fitness test. I think you should do what you want to do after retirement and ignore what "everyone else thinks you should do." It's your life and your retirement. Since your husband is okay with you taking some time to get things sorted out and then decide what you want to do when you grow up, that's the only other person that matters at all. You may decide to do some part time work that has nothing to do with your AF career. I'm pretty happy doing what I am now - subbing at daycare. It's never something I would have thought I would do, but it sort of fell into my lap several years ago and now I'm not sure I ever want to quit. I do need to cut back a little, but I love it - even if some days I want to scream and quit...if that makes sense.

Sorry you are having so much trouble getting things done at your mom's place. I hope the new architect gets your plans done quickly.

@shanaber I need to check out that link. I don't think I need any bras right now, but realized the other day that I really don't have many long sleeved running shirts.

I haven't been eating well lately. Long hours and then trips with mom and my neighbor lead to eating out more than I would like. I really need to get back to cooking and eating less processed foods. Wednesday we went to an apple orchard and on the way back stopped at an interesting road side café for lunch. Everything they serve is either smoked or grilled and you eat inside a converted school bus. There are pictures under the spoiler, but realize it's hard to see the bus for all the things they have in the "yard." I had a sandwich and then just couldn't resist trying the pecan pie that had been smoked. It was pretty darn good. LOL
    7jqv2exco9r9.jpg
    xbake2m2i8q0.jpg

I'm not sure how, but I have lost a couple of pounds. I was 150 at my highest last month. Today I was 147.4. I'm trying to run more, but am having some issues where I may have rubbed my private parts and there is a sore area...so am going to take it easy this weekend. At least I think that is what may have happened. I am going to try to see my gynecologist next week, just to make sure. I have been having some minor issues with cracks in that area being post-menopausal, low estrogen. Cream seems to help that, but this is different. Just want to get it checked to make sure it isn't anything to worry about.

I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend.

    Good morning folks!

    Happy fake Monday :)

So great to see everyone! Thanks for the link @Shanaber I will look them, I just ordered a new bra on Amazon the other day, with my weight gain my cup spillith over LOL I actually just found a Handful bra at the goodwill the other day, too bad not my size.

@quilteryoyo I am really trying to stick to my guns about what I am going to do. I highly suspect we will be mid house build and that will be a full time job. I have looked at some part time jobs but dang they pay so little LOL My handyman works at Homedepot part time (mainly for the discount) and he said he works sometimes 30hrs a week and brings home $500 after taxes.

We had a 4 day weekend, the start of holiday season and long weekends for the next 5 months. Friday I went to the ranch to see how the steps were, they were missing a banister on one side...how do you forget that? So they have to come back out and the bill will probably be closer to $3600 now. Handyman finally also got the bathtub p-trap replaced. I am giving up on the mobile home repair folks and need to find a new one. My other to-do this week is look at fencing options. We had to pay the property tax and so I feel a little light in the wallet. Thankfully we are under an old law where we only have to pay taxes on the appraised value of when mom bought the land in 1989 so my taxes are about half of what everyone else's is. I hope I don't lose that when I build :(

Sales are going really well this month so far! I am hitting my goal (well right now $145 behind) for "full time" status benchmark. I hope it stays that way. I did lots of sourcing this weekend and did pretty well there. I have so much stuff to list! I am thinking I may have to upgrade my eBay store.

Today I have my MRI for my shoulder and I am going to call the rheumatologist. DH has a referral as well for his hands...he has aqua dermatitis? Pretty much he gets blisters when his hands sweat and his PCM thinks it could be autoimmune related.

Got on the scale today and surprised I have not gained in the last 3 months. I must be at maintenance! According to my apple watch (for what it is worth) that must mean I am eating around 2000-2300 a day. Feels like I am constantly eating junk. Was trying to think of 1 small thing I could do to/cut out to get a tiny deficit b/c I am NOT happy with how I look. I don't really snack. My sweets are moderate already. Maybe no seconds (although that is rare too). I am going to start doing my 2 -15 min walks a day at work consistently and see what happens.

    Have a great week!

@CMorning99 - it is crazy how little part time employees get paid but I know many whoo take those jobs for the same reason as your handyman... the discount. I always said if I decided to get a job in retirement it would be at Starbucks (coffee!!) or REI (amazing discount and free stuff from various vendors).
I hope the people that put the steps in aren't charging you to come back and install the railing since it was their mistake.
Could your handyman do the work needed for the mobile home repair and maybe even the fencing?
I don't know the rules on the property taxes when you build something new. For sure if you sold it the buyer would pay much higher taxes.
Glad the resale is picking up. Do you have to pay for your bay store?
Hope the results of the MRI lead to you getting some direction to get it resolved - hopefully not surgery! What did the rheumatologist say about DH's hands? I have never heard of that before but it does sound like what an autoimmune would be...

Speaking of autoimmune I think the vaccinations I had earlier this week caused mine to flair up again today. I went out for a run and I hurt all over again and for several hours after.

I did get some good news though. Had my yearly blood tests (Lipid panel and Thyroid) and I was pretty excited at the results
    jx8nej29yhmw.jpeg
It is the lowest/best I have had in almost 10 years. Note I don't take any medications other than the thyroid and for my autoimmune.

    Hey guys.

I really miss you and want to come back.

2022 has just been one struggle after another. I finally got to the point I could run again after covid and I got a cold. It was nasty and hit me hard. Then I recovered from that and had built up running again and got the flu. And it hit HARD! I was in bed for 4 days, literally barely could walk to and from the bathroom. I then got an ear infection that progressed to labyrinthitis. So for the last 3 weeks I've had awful vertigo and nausea. It took a few days to get it under control and has finally eased and I no longer seem to need the medication. Then last week I was on holiday with my family.

Sadly my appetite was never affected and I gained weight. I'm back at my red light flash, must do something about it weight.

I feel awful. Very few items of my clothing fit. I'm on the edge of needing to buy new stuff but I refuse.

And I just can't get my eating under control.

I was doing really well the 2 weeks prior to getting the flu. I was eating well and on track, but the illness really took its toll.

I've also been incredibly stressed at work. I've had a colleague who has been awful to me. Verging on bullying. Fortunately my managers were totally supportive of me, and always had my back. In the process of dealing with it we realised I've been doing the lions share of the crap shifts at work, and missing out on call, which also means my pay has taken a hit. For a few weeks I felt very jaded, pissed off and just generally under it. Honestly I think the flu was my body telling me to take a break.

So I'm coming back. I'm just feeling so awful and down. I have to start tracking again. That's number 1.

Geting back to exercise hasn't been hard. But I'm eating more than enough to compensate.

    One day at a time
So tomorrow I'm just going to track.

PS I've missed you all. I'll have to go back and read to catch up

@avidkeo Just wanted to jump on here and say hi. You have had a really tough go of it lately, so annoying when life does that do you for sure.

I think you are in the right place here, we all know how it feels to lose momentum. We are here to listen to you successes and oopsies and cheer you on!

Oh @Avidkeo!! Welcome back and sending you so many hugs!! We have missed you too!
I have heard that the flu was really bad in AU and NZ and they are calling for everyone here to get the flu shot. You have really been through the ringer and then all the issues at work on top! I hope things get straightened out there and the bully gets taken care of by management. Will you be able to get back into more of the on call shifts now? Any chance the schedulers did that because you have been sick?
I don't know if you follow the running challenge at all but @polskagirl01 also had covid and is dealing with long covid issues now. ☹️

Remember all the things that worked for you before... make a plan, plan your food and start back exercising/running slowly. You'll get there - like you said one day at a time, one step at a time!

This thread has gotten pretty quiet... @quilteryoyo pops in once in a while. @CMorning99 is here pretty consistently and I try to check in too. @swenson19d hasn't been in for a while and last she checked in was pretty busy with school. @rheddmobile has dropped off the face of the earth and no one has heard from her.. I haven't even see a run from her in Strava for a while.
So maybe we can get it rejuvenated! I miss having a place where we all can just talk....

@shanaber the scheduling happened because I ended up picking up lots of weekends and evening shifts because no one else would, and they would get the calls because I was already on shift.

The schedulers have been nice and given me 2 call weekends in a row, and have made an effort to spread things around a bit more. I've also stopped picking up shifts. I admit that's on me, but I was trying to help the team. To realise that no one else was doing it really hurt.

So today is day 1. My plan today is just track what I eat. I'm not worried about goal or anything. I'm just tracking. I also am going for a gentle run, I did weights yesterday so needs to be gentle.

@CMorning99 I'm glad you are going to stick to your guns about your retirement plans. And, you are right. If you are in the middle of building the house, that will be a full time job until it is done. Glad your reselling business is picking up. Yeah for not gaining weight. I'm sure the walking will help. Even if you don't lose any weight, I'll be you'll feel better and your clothes will fit better.

Great bloodwork results @shanaber . I am going to try to interact with you guys more. I miss it. I was just super busy last month and tried to not be on the computer too late at night. Didn't really help me get to be any earlier, but at least I felt like it was a positive step. Maybe not. LOL

@Avidkeo I'm glad you are finally feeling better. You have been through a LOT! Glad it sounds like things are going a little better for you at work. It's so frustrating when things like that happen. I find when I track my food, even if I am not trying to meet any specific goal, I'll eat less because it makes me more mindful of what I am putting in my mouth. I need to start doing that again too.

Ladies, I know that I told you all that I was having issues in my private area. Monday, I tried to see the gynecologist, but it was going to be Monday before she is back in the office and they couldn't work me in this week with the other doctor's in the office. They suggested I try to see my PCP and see if he could help. I was able to get an appointment Monday afternoon. He diagnosed me with vulvar lichen sclerosis. Basically a skin disease where the skin in the pelvic region becomes thin, whitened, and causes itching and pain (especially if you scratch it accidently or get a crack). Anyway, they recommend getting a biopsy to make sure that is the correct diagnosis, as it can be a squamous cell cancer. So, he wound up taking two biopsies that day. I'll get the results in a week or so. Since he took the biopsy, he could start treatment, so I am using a steroidal cream every night. Haven't had enough time to see if it is helping yet, but I am hopeful it will and feel so much better that I know it isn't something horrible.

I haven't been running much, but need to get with it since I have a 10 mile race in early Dec. I'm try not to stress about it. I just haven't had enough hours in the day to get it in. I have kept up my walking streak at least.

Hang in there and I will try to check in more often. I do count you all as friends.

@quilteryoyo that sounds awful! Hope it clears up fast.

Day 1 went well. I was alone in the house and just logged etc. Felt good.

Today I'm mixing things up and getting out of my exercise rut. I'm starting an 8 week programme. Fortunately that means today is a rest day as I'm on call this weekend.

    Good morning!

@quilteryoyo I hope your issue clears up!

@avidkeo Glad day 1 went well!

    319 days to retirement :)

Last week went pretty well, it was nice that it was a short week so that made it better LOL

The weekend was standard. Saturday I had a hair cut and I liked the stylist. He was fun but lawdy he likes to talk about himself LOL He did a really good job on my hair. I asked for 6 inches off but I feel it was closer to 8-9 inches...DH just says I just don't know how to measure. I like it so much, perfect length to pull back but also wear down and not have it everywhere. I go back in 2 weeks for a dye job.

I did my usual thrifting and it was a pretty good weekend quantity wise, no real gems though. I am really trying to branch out in to plus sizes and it has opened up a lot of doors. It wasn't I wouldn't pick it up before, but a lot of expensive brands don't have a plus line so I am having to learn how to shop for plus size. Sales were good but I have dropped $200 behind my goal for where I want to be by this time for "full time" income. I am hoping a couple of mom's really nice suede jackets sell.

I got all the paperwork from legal for an investigation I need to do for the Commander. I was reading it and it is a lot. The things we do in the military LOL You never know what you are going to have to learn to do, I told DH I should get an honorary Juris doctorate after this cluster cluck. The fact I have an attorney walking me through this, makes me wonder if I am the right man for the job.

Peloton app sent me a message they have a new program called "you can run" and so I packed up my gym clothes and we will see how that goes. I might log some things in MFP too. DH has been on a cooking kick and so I am not sure on the calories at dinner. They aren't bad things, but I just don't know 100% what he dumped in there.

We had a long talk with the architect on Friday as well. Day and night difference. So many hard questions...like do you want heating in the floor or ceiling? Floor works better but is more expensive b/c you have to have a raised floor then. DH wants photochromatic window too (eyeroll). The carpenter has not finished the stairs and we went to look at them on Friday and the work is meh, not what I would expect for $85 an hour. No nibbles on a mobile home repair company. Still too lazy to call fencing people. We did get the truck smogged and oil change so I can at least checking something of my list.

Clinic called to schedule an appt for my shoulder results...in 2 WEEKS!. I sent a message back asking if I could see the results. They have a whole portal where you are supposed to be able to "manage your healthcare" but nothing loads to it. I haven't heard back and of course the portal is down today.

Well, here's to progress this week!

Well my weekend went to pot. I was on call and basically worked a night shift Saturday night. I was so tired and therefore hungry. Sigh. I'm giving myself a few more days cause I'm on call again tonight. And again the coming weekend.

    Oh well that's life.

@avidkeo Night shifts are the worst. It takes me days to transition and to recover. Thankfully I don't do them anymore (knock on wood).

Got my MRI results. No tear but there is degeneration of the AC joint with fluid in the bursa. Glad no surgery in my future and get validation it is allowed to ache.

I did do the Peloton program. Only thing about their programs I don't like is that you can't pre-download the class (only on individual classes) and I hit dead zones all over with no service.

@CMorning99 I was lucky and got Monday off work. Haha.

Yay for no tear! The lack of being able to download is silly and annoying!

I kinda fell off the rails again cause I did call again on Tuesday night, ended up with Wednesday off. Been so tired this week. I got up this morning and did a HIIT run, walk/run intervals. It felt great being out there and I definitely noticed I felt much better for doing the exercise.

I'm on call again this weekend, and because it's a holiday weekend, I'm on for 4 nights. I'm going to make a point of getting out for at least a walk each day...

No weight lost yes, and nothing gained. I realised today I've been the same pretty much since April. I'd like to get back to my usual end of year weight, that means losing about 4kg (8lb) by end of Dec. I'm not confident.

@CMorning99 Sounds like things are getting done. What are you investigating? Sounds interesting. Glad this architect seems to be a lot better. I think I would go with the floor heat since heat rises. If it is in the ceiling your feet are going to freeze and your head will be sweating. Just my two cents worth there. It is annoying that you can't download the workout. Glad your don't have to have surgery on your shoulder and can totally relate to at least knowing it is okay that it aches. Sometimes you just feel like it's all in your head - at least I do.

@Avidkeo Those night shifts have to be hard on your body overall and really mess with any kind of schedule you may have. Good luck with the weight loss. We're pulling for you.

I have been eating out a whole lot more than I should, but have no time to cook at the moment. Still, I seem to be staying close to the same weight and even lose a couple of pounds when I eat less salt, but of course it comes right back on a salty day. I'm just happy that I'm not gaining. I'm hoping some things will settle down and I'll have more time for exercise and cooking, but every time I think it is going to, something else happens. So, I'm doing what I can and not stressing over it any more.
