    Hi folks! Happy monday!

And so begins the 15 days of obnoxious work LOL

The week was pretty good last week. I got in 2 jog/walk 20 min runs with Peloton app and did 2 20 min Pilates beginners workouts too. I didn't track food and I def did not get all my walk in. I did manage to order the cat's meds so I think that was my 1 to do for the week LOL. I was tired though. On Tuesday night we had a family of racoons start a wrestling match in our back yard around 2am. They were screeching, scrapping, and climbing up and down the wood fence making so much noise. I finally got up and opened the sliding door to the patio from our bedroom and big daddy raccoon stood up (he probably reached my hip) and started growling at me...I went back in and proceeded to yell at them. They meandered off eventually. I was so tired when my alarm went off though. Then on Wed night one of our smoker alarms malfunctioned at midnight. It is the kind that is wired in so if 1 goes off they all do. It would go off for 20 seconds (not the low battery chirp, but the wake the dead screech) and then turn off, then on, then off, then on, then off...finally DH just unplugged it entirely.

This week I am going to try and do better. (I already missed 1 walk this AM). I have interviews all week for my investigation. @quilteryoyo It is for a harassment claim, we seem to have a civilian who is a bit grabby with the females and can pop off his mouth. Next we have the BIG inspectors coming to look at programs and of course my civilian won't be here. Then we have a 2 day big base exercise which I have to head up for the squadron. Oof. But once that is done, I think it is smooth sailing to next year

Oh and it is DH and my 23rd anniversary this week, well I guess it is next week Monday. He bought me an iRoomba and I got him an fancy air fryer. Guess we are past diamonds and flowers LOL. Oh and this week is Mom's birthday. It was hitting me pretty hard last week but I think I am ok this week. It was the last week I spent with her when we celebrated her 77th birthday. OMG, I can't believe next year she would have been 80!

It is cooling off a bit, last week though we had some pretty hot days (90) but now it is dry with the fog gone and I am coughing like crazy. I need to drink more water. Today I have my phone consult about my shoulder. I am really trying to think about what to complain about next LOL I still need to get my rheum appt, they never got my referral last week.

Last week reselling was ok. I have been doing better tracking number of items I am listing a day, relisting a day and what is selling (if it is new or a relist) and then also the amount made that day. Sales are really tapering off. I know part of my problem is storage...I just don't have anywhere to put stuff. I was having a minor panic attack last night ... my latest big stressor is where we will live while we wait for the house. Hope it sorts out.

    Have a great week!

Hey all. Finally got out for a run today. I have had absolutely no mojonin the last couple of weeks. I set my alarm, and decided I'd do whatever I wanted when I woke up. And I felt like a run so off I went. Watch suggested 50 min slow so that's basically what I did. Ran 30 min before taking a few walk breaks. Felt good.

Student day today. The lady at work is still harassing me. So I've made a formal complaint at work. I think what will happen is we will have a formal sit down with my manager and our team leader. That will be interesting.

Other than that, nothing interesting is happening. Just living life really

@CMorning99 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Hope you are able to get some good celebrating in, even without diamond and flowers. Glad other things are working out. Those harassment complaints can be hard if it is a matter of he said, she said, but sounds like more than one female has complained. Hope next week goes well and then you can relax. Hugs regarding your mom's birthday. Those days are hard after a loved one is gone.

@Avidkeo Did you have the meeting? If so, how did it go? I would think that would be a little awkward, but hope it works and she stops harassing you!

Sorry I've been MIA. I miss you all. Just been really, really busy and haven't even opened up the computer a couple of evenings when I get home late and have to be up early the next day. I'm trying to prioritize sleep, but it isn't working, yet. It is better most night. At least I'm getting almost 6 hours. Working on 7.

I haven't been running much either, but am keeping up with my streak of at least a mile fast walk every day. Some days I know that isn't a lot and seems sort of not worth the effort, but I know it is a big deal for me in the grand scheme of things. If I allow myself to get in the habit of "it's too late" or "I'm too tired" or any of the other myriad of excuses I have stored up in my head, I'd soon be making those excuses most days and not getting much exercise at all. So, the streak at least helps me get intentional exercise every day.

    Good morning folks!

@avidkeo Good job on reporting it. In my case I am investigating right now, most of my eye witnesses are all clammed up. How do they expect us to do anything if they won't tell us?

Last week went well enough. I made my 2 peloton 20 min runs and 2 20 min beginner pilates. I didn't track calories. Did have a thrifting day and my apple watch said I walked 3.5 miles. I bought a pair of jeans for myself that I liked but alas, I was deluded to think I was still a size 10.

No updates on the property. I am going to email the architect this week and see if he has any questions. As far as I can tell, the carpenters still have not gone out to finish the stairs on the moved mobile home. Freaking seriously. I can't wait till I can be done with people. Still no luck on finding a maintenance company either.

Last day of the month for reselling and me putting a bit more effort into it. Although the last 5 days have been pretty low effort. Mainly because I ran out of listings on my eBay store and FB suspended my account until they can verify my identity for tax reasons. It was very sus. No other platform asks for anything other than your SSN and they take your word for it. FB wanted a picture of my drivers license AND SSN card. I went back and forth a long time with that and finally went with it, it is a another income stream, albeit small one. I don't know what is going on with Poshmark, I started off the month strong with 3-6 sales a day when they announced they were reversing their search function changes (which broke the platform) but something happened about 7 days ago where it went back to the way it was before and now I am getting 1 sale maybe a day or every other day. I am $300 from making my monthly retirement minimum goal. Not likely I will make it, but with a bit more effort and upgrading my eBay store I should make it in the coming months.

This week I need to wrap up my investigations. I have an inspection tomorrow. I also have meetings for the upcoming exercise next week, of course they told last week half my team is getting replaced and hasn't even been through the training. 304 days to retirement.

Today is our anniversary. DH is cooking his "famous" stuffed meatballs and we are watching The Crow. No other plans.

Maybe I will do a November reset...I now have 2 pairs of jeans I like that I can't wear.

Have a great week and stay warm!

@CMorning99 Dealing with people who won't do what they say is so frustrating. Hang in there. Hope you reselling picks up and the exercise goes well next week. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Enjoy your dinner and movie.

I didn't have to work today and had no appointments. It sort of felt weird to have no commitments.

    @CMorning99 - Happy Anniversary!
I have to say I am amazed at how difficult the resale business seems to be. Not the actual selling part but all the hoops to go thru with the different platforms.

@Avidkeo - How did your student day go? I hope you can get the harassment resolved. It makes the work environment so miserable.
A while back you were making snacks/meals to take with you when you were on call I think. Would it help to do that again so you don't get so hungry?

@quilteryoyo - you have been so busy lately not having any commitments must have felt amazing but also so weird. I always worry I forgot something that I was supposed to do and may or may not have had on my calendar!

I have been busy with family and friends who came to visit and then we decided to take a trip to OR and drive the Fall Foliage loop. We also decided to take a day along the way to visit Lassen Volcanic National Park.
The park was so interesting and not one that I had ever heard of. There are 5 volcanos there and last erupted in the mid-1920's. There are also geothermal mud pits similar to Yellowstone.
The Fall Foliage loop was a bit of a disappointment. Mostly there were brown leaves. I think because it has been so warm and dry. It did rain really hard when we were heading into Hillsboro and there was winter storm warnings along a portion of the loop we had planned to drive. They got about 10 inches of snow and we decided not to complete the loop and just headed back towards Portland and down to Salem. We did see some pretty trees once we got to Salem on our way back.

I got on the scale Monday and was not surprised to see it up nearly 5 lbs... today it was back down 3 (yay!) but I need to get back on track. With that 5 lbs I am up 10 total for the year. So while I am down a little I too need to lose about 7-8 lbs.
I am also having another autoimmune flare. I am sure it is a result of not eating or sleeping well on the trip. My DH likes to eat the breakfast at the hotels and they don't have much that I would eat. We never seemed to eat lunch so I would snack on popcorn or whatever was handy. Dinner seemed to be pretty heavy most nights - BBQ one night, burgers another, etc. The last night we landed at our friend's house and grilled steaks. It was a great evening but we ate so much! This week my focus has been to get in some gentle workouts and get back to our normal eating patterns and foods. I'm feeling a bit better, not quite so achy and I am sleeping like a rock (9 hours solid last night).

Good morning and Aloha Friday! Oof, what a week and 1 more to go.

@Shanaber I love how you guys just took off to travel! I can't wait till we can do that, although DH is not a huge traveler. I think I can only get him off base maybe 2-3x a month LOL.

This week was so hectic! We had a no notice OSHA inspection and I can 100% check off that I will never work with, for, or around them again. I know they are helping but we got the psycho inspector who likes to remind us the 2-3 times a day she calls to ask for so some document that this is a "federal inspection". That has sucked away at least half my week. We also had our scheduled Air Force inspection on other programs, my stuff was fine and they actually asked me for advice on how to do things better LOL. I finally got my interviews done, I spoke with the gentleman who is the one who is allegedly harassing, prior Army tough guy...he worked for the Sheriff for a bit but now is a box kicker (aka supply). He puffed on about his law enforcement days and how he "knew things" and once I put him under oath, he clammed up. He did vehemently deny the allegations though. Whatever, I am just taking their statements. I was asked my initial impression and I said the guy was an alpha *kitten* with a huge ego that lets him think he is important enough, smart enough, and bad *kitten* enough to get away with things...and fully believes in "tough leadership". Snort, don't impress me much

But I haven't had a chance to run. I have been eating complete crap and fast food. Bugger. I ordered new jeans a 12 and a 14. I can now feel my stomach when I slouch and it drives me nuts. Fingers crossed I can find the desire to fix this.

Cold weekend with rain scheduled, Black Cat needs B-12 shot and a weigh (he has lost a lot of weight). Grey cat had 2 cases of the zoomies in the middle of the night and then proceeded to barf everywhere this AM...he is such a tough old bird.

I need to go the ranch and drive the truck around and check on the horses. I should cover the travel trailer too but holy cow that is a PITA. 3 weeks and nothing from the new architect.

@shanaber I saw your pictures in the other thread. Such a pretty trip and I forgot to comment on that boulder being thrown 5 miles. The power of nature is amazing! I'm sure you will be able to lose the weight you gained this year. I need to do the same. You were right about the day off, it's like I felt like there was something that I should be doing, but couldn't quite put my finger on it. LOL Sorry your autoimmune has flared up again. Hopefully getting back into your normal routine with exercise, sleep, and eating will help calm it down again.

@CMorning99 Sounds like a tough week with the OSHA inspection. Also, just from what you said, it sounds like the harassment allegations are probably well founded. Some people need to bully to feel important. I hope your cats start feeling better again. It's so hard when they are sick. I'm surprised you haven't heard from the architect, but maybe he is working on it and just waiting until he has something to show it. Seems like I recall not hearing from ours until he had it drawn up and then we had him completely change the outside 3 times before he hit upon our vision - which we really weren't sure what it was. We just knew it when we saw it. LOL Fortunately, he was very patient with us.

    Good morning everyone!

Last week for the big push before the holiday period starts!

The weekend was ok. Nothing exciting. Black cat had his appt and he has lost 4 oz in the last month. We also went up to the ranch and the guys never came back to finish the stairs, it has been 3 weeks. I messaged my builder who hired them for me and said they don't need to come back, my handyman will finish it for me (in like a year LOL). The first set of stairs look good, the second set they totally sucked. I looked at them and they even used termite eaten wood! Well, at least I know now we have termites on the land. All else was fine up there, it was so pretty and perfectly clear and you could see the 120 degree view of the ocean.

After that it was chores and reselling. It was dead all weekend and I only made $28 per day...ouch. I also have a couple returns coming back...boo. I got my new jeans, they are Eddie Bauer. The 14s were tight in the hips and 8 inches of extra fabric in the waist...DH was so confused why they would cut jeans that way LOL. I got the 12s in and they were relaxed fit and they fit PERFECTLY! DH actually got mad for a minute he was so confused on what was going on LOL Welcome to the world of women's fashion.

I am in a quandary for sure. I need to have a heart to heart with the builder and the architect on how long this house is going to take. DH and I need to be out of base housing in approximately 7 months. If the current trend is going to continue and it could be 2+ years to build I mentioned to DH we might as well buy a house near base. With housing shortages it will always have a renter once we are done and it could become an investment property. The concerns: interest rates suck! The cheapest houses here are about $650K. I would have to get a W2 job probably when the time came to get a construction loan. Also the issue of what would we qualify for if we already had a mortgage? Would having a mortgage make getting a construction load even harder? Who do I talk to about these things?

It is supposed to rain all week and with as busy as I am at work, I didn't pack workout clothes. I did tell myself I would count calories at least. Maybe try to lose 5 lbs by 1 Jan? I wish I wanted it more instead of just dreaming about it.

    Well, best get to it.

@CMorning99 Kind of funny about your DH and women's clothes. I love relaxed fit jeans. My "behind" has always been "too big" for normal jeans. If they fit there, they are way too big around the waist. My proportions are just off from what the manufacturer thinks is "normal" I guess. If I were you, I would speak to a loan officer at the bank you plan to use and just be frank and ask about the loans. I'm sure they would be honest, or at least I would hope they would, since they know they will be getting your business soon. Did you pay for the stairs to be done ahead of time? I hate that they didn't do what you wanted and did such a horrible job. What is it with people and integrity these days?

Thank you so much @shanaber. I had a great Veteran's day. I worked at the daycare all day. The two older classes sang me their rendition of "Thank you soldiers," then the older class made me a poster with their hand prints thanking me for their service, the next youngest class made me bald eagles made with their hand and feet prints, I got group hugs, the daycare gave me a bouquet of flowers, and I had a free Calabash Chicken Basket from Fatz and my Aunt joined me for dinner. Pictures, in the spoiler, if you are interested.
    hcxtfr8nx6wh.jpg
The eagles. I'm not posting a picture of the poster because I can't figure out a way to hide the kids names and not sure I should post that.

    rmmrf4j576cm.jpg
    I love my flowers.

    db5qjahq971j.jpg
Me and my Aunt Helen. Mom didn't get to join us because I would have had to drive all the way home to pick her up after work. Aunt Helen was so glad I had her join me.

I just love that you got such special treatment yesterday! The eagles are so coo;! I have never seen that done before and it is so imaginative! I bet the kids had a blast making them too!

I have the opposite problem with Jeans and many other pants in that I don't have much of a butt and my waist size doesn't correlate to what designers think it should for my size. Maybe if I was 25 it would be small enough but not now... I have found some jeans and other pants that fit pretty well though - Loft and Ann Taylor and some Calvin Klein. I bought a few pairs years ago on sale and have just kept wearing them. I also have to have them pretty much all hemmed (unless I buy the 'ankle' pants and then they are the right length ๐Ÿ˜). I also am having and interesting issue with some of the narrow leg pants win that they are now tight on my calves. I guess it is a runners issue.

@CMorning99 - I would also recommend talking to a loan officer or even a financial advisor who may have other ideas about the best way to handle to investments needed to do both to have a place to live and get the home built. I would also ask the architect and builder if there are concerns for shortages of materials or workers. If you bump into those it could really get drawn out. Is there any possibility of using any prefab parts? Could they build out an area initially for you to live in while they complete the bulk of the house? Part of me that thinks being there/nearby would be a good thing even though it could also suck from having all the workers around.

    Good morning!

Busy weekend for sure! The leadership changed our days off around and it was Friday and Monday but then they changed it to Thurs and Friday. Thankfully all my appts were able to swap around.

@shanaber Thank you for the Vet's day wishes...I don't think I am quite vet yet...291 days LOL

Thursday black cat had oncology which is an hour drive away. I love his (real) oncologist, she is so meticulous and obviously loves her job. She is finally back from maternity leave. Black cat had lost weight but we don't know why as there were so many factors changing when he started losing. We started with a $500 blood panel (insert crying face LOL). But thankfully we ruled out thyroid, we reversed his pre-diabetes, and his kidney levels are slightly elevated but stable. So next step is a new ultrasound to see if the cancer is changing...but that isn't till Jan so we just gotta keep him eating. Black cat also decided he really like grey cat's bed and heated blanket, so we bought him one. Happy kitty.

Friday I was able to get the blacksmith out to do the horses feet. I also groomed them and spent sometime with them. I feel terrible for them, no human interaction beyond the tenant tossing them food. But they are so old and one has medical issues so they need to stay. Oh and I saw the most BEAUTFUL and big fox at the ranch, I googled it and it says seeing a fox cross your path just a past loved one saying hi. So HI MOM! I was also able to make it up to the Goodwill outlet and it was PACKED! I still found some good stuff surprisingly. I also stopped by other Goodwills. Found good stuff, not great but good. The second Goodwill is up by Cal Poly and the checkout people are always annoyed and tired kids...I put my stack on the counter with all the tags lined up so she could just go through quickly, and she scanned 9 items and then under her breath said (*kitten* it) and just through everything in a bag...I had 17 items LOL. That has happened to me twice up there!

Saturday I got the builder and the architect up to the ranch. The architect is so professional! He had the big plans all laid out and we made changes here and there and talked timelines. Both agreed that a good estimate is to break ground in June. The builder said he could build the house in 6 months and then 3-4 months depending how much leg work we do before hand to put in all the fixtures, floors, etc. He recommended getting a place for 1 year starting 1 May so the lease would end 30 Apr 24. We might have 2 house payments for a month or two but we will save up just in case. He also did recommend talking to the bank about the construction loan to build that relationship...but we can't apply until we have plans. DH tried to bring up his observatory and separate man cave. We had a bit of a tiff as he really wants to have that included but I told him I am more worried about just getting a roof over our head and if he wants he can do the planning after. Also he has ideas but I don't think he really grasps how this works, he was trying to ask the builder about running fiber to his mancave...I pointed out we don't have fiber and the builder won't do that

Sunday was more shopping and listing. Facebook still won't let me sell...oh well.

This week is slow. It is the squadron TDay potluck and not much else with a deadline.

@CMorning99 Glad that black cat is hanging in there. Also sounds like the house is coming along. Glad you found a good, professional architect and builder. As for you DH, after we built out house, I said if you can stay married through a new house build you are meant to be together. It's hard and all those little decisions that you both have to agree on. I had to laugh at the way the kid acted/did at the Goodwill. Good for you. Not so much for the store. Foxes are beautiful. I have never heard that if you see one it's a loved one saying hello. Have fun at the potluck. What are you taking?

@CMorning99 - We definitely have so much to be thankful for! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Did you get the really bad winds? I could not believe how bad they were!

We had dinner with dh's brother and sil. He wanted to have them come here and I said no. They have been back in the states almost 4 years and we have never been invited over to their house. Their mail still comes to our house and dh drives it over to them once a week. He said he could make sure they invited us and I told him no way, he was not to ask to be invited to their dinner. Well of course he did. I had our dinner all planned out and all the ingredients purchased and was pretty upset when he said we were now 'invited'... It was fine and we enjoyed ourselves but I am pretty sure they didn't want the extra work any more than I wanted to have a forced invitation.
The good news my weight was actually down today! Yay! It is still higher than I want it to be but at least it is now heading in the right direction.

I took advantage of the Black Friday sales and got some Christmas shopping done as well as a few things for myself (new running clothes) and some daycare passes for Hobbes.

I am trying to eat well lots of fresh fruit and veggies and especially getting in some ground flax seed every day. It really seems to help with the inflammation.

Sorry I've been absent for a few days. Just a lot going on. I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving. Mom and I had two Thanksgiving meals. The first was with our neighbor who loves to entertain the neighborhood. He had people over who either didn't have anyone or was having family get togethers later in the week. We all brought part of the meal. As always, way too much food. Then, on Friday, we went to my nephew's house for our family get together. He and his wife moved this year and that was the first time we had been to their house. Again, way too much food, but it was nice to get together with family and to spend some time with the littles.
    hu5vajzcwdoa.jpg

I have gained a little weight, but hope to get it off before the Christmas rush. LOL

I am going to FL next week for the T-Minus 10 mile race I signed up for on Cape Canaveral AFS. It's on the 10th. I'm probably going to wind up walking a lot of it since I haven't been able to find the time to run as much as I should. But, I have done some trials and am pretty confident I can beat the 3 hour cutoff, even with a ton of walking.

I won't have a lot of extra time, but hope to see at least some of the family while I am in the area - they all live about an hour south of where I will be staying.

@shanaber Sounds like your BIL and his wife are a bit irresponsible, still having their mail sent to your house. I'm glad you had a nice visit, even if it wasn't what you really wanted. Sometimes people really don't think about anyone but themselves. Yeah for your weight being down and the flax seed helping with your inflammation! AND for new running clothes and daycare passes for Hobbes!

    Good morning!

@shanaber No winds here, it was warm (low 70's) and beautiful. We do have a small system moving in this weekend though.

Love to hear that folks had a warm and cozy Tday - What is the holidays with out some family "drama" LOL

I had 4 days off and DH had to work on Friday. He is as bad as I am when it comes to taking vacation LOL. Tday was low key. The DoD announced you get a free day off if you get your covid booster. I got mine on Wednesday just in case I felt ick and could laze around on Thursday (and save my day off). I felt off, I was so damn tired and had a low key headache off and on for 2 days, but nothing like my second shot. DH and I made a small feast and we binge watched Hemsworth's Limitless and a modern Sherlock Holmes called Elementary. Friday the Goodwills were having 50% off the whole store so I made my rounds, the first one I got there right when they opened and so it was not crowded at all. I didn't quite get the the haul I thought I would but a good amount. I then decided to try more and still found decent stuff but the lines were horrendous. DH and I also bought our annual supply of Zero water filters LOL.

Saturday and Sunday were normal days with normal shopping. I did get some updates to my shop done and was rewarded with sales. I am doing better this month than last. My goal is to make $100 a day net profit, last month I managed that 4x...this month I am at 12x. As long as my supply holds out, and with a dedicated effort towards it and not an hour here or there after work, I think I might make this work. Sunday I kept busy, it was the anniversary of Mom's death and I seemed fine, but like I said, I stayed very busy. Thrifting puts me in a zone, using all my senses and I guess I blocked out everything else.

My weight is up, not shocking. I brought workout clothes and I will see if I make it. Seems we have to meet at the flag pole for retreat (5pm) 2x this week...bugger, but it is supposed to rain on Friday so maybe they will cancel  . Not much else going on, hopefully I get my report back from the lawyers, the Commander wants it MEOW! Next week I have Transition Assistance class all week to work on resumes and such. I have been toying with the idea to going back to therapy, we are now 60 days out from the trial and wondering if I am going to have issues, it will be graphic I know. Also looking into retirement savings options since I can't contribute to the DoD one anymore after I retire. I am thinking of going with Vanguard target date funds, not ideal I know but for a investing idiot like myself who doesn't want to pay crazy fees with conflicts of interest...it seems to be safe until something better comes around.

Well, best get to it. Have a great week!

@CMorning99 Glad you had a nice weekend. If I remember correctly, I sort of enjoyed my Transition Assistance classes. I wasn't planning to get a job after I got out, but it was nice to know what to do in case I needed to....and what is available "out there." I'm sure things have changed since 1997 though. I'm glad you got through the anniversary of your mom's death okay. If you are feeling anxious about the trial, I think going back to therapy is a good idea. It can't hurt.

@CMorning99 - glad the resale is starting to. do better. I really need to get my Princess House crystal posted. I think someone might want/need it for the holidays and I really should have posted it before Thanksgiving. That implies though that we would actually be home to deal with people wanting to buy and pickup things.
I think you should connect with a therapist now and for the duration of the trial at least. It would be good just to know the resource is there if you need to talk it out. I cannot fathom the stress and emotions you will be dealing with or even how to process it all.
We have four retirement accounts with Vanguard and have been pretty happy with them.

    We are in Boise...
The first couple of days here were really nice but cold. I got Hobbes out for a short run or walk every day in the big park that I love behind our hotel. We also went to a local run store so I could get a logo hat and to a candy store that has been here forever. They make all their own candy and there aren't many places outside of Idaho that you can find the candy (Idaho Spud Bars!)
The football game we came for was SO cold that we ended up leaving before it was over and watching the end from the warm hotel room. My husband is in love now with DuraFlame logs and has been buying them from the hotel office. We could have bought cases of them for what he has spent but it is making him happy and we haven't had to drive anywhere since the weather has turned.
We decided to stay an extra day because a winter storm was forecast and we didn't really want to be driving on icy roads. It snowed this morning so I took Hobbes to the park to play in the snow. At first he looked a bit confused by the snow but quickly seemed to decide he liked it especially when he realized he could eat it. When we got to the park there were so many pups out and he really wanted to go and play. We stuck to the paths and grass since they weren't slippery. The roads were very packed with snow and extremely slick. Made me want to try sliding on them like we did when I was a kid ๐Ÿ˜Š
I eventually did let Hobbes off leash and he ran and ran like a crazy boy. So fun to watch him. I wish I had taken some pictures of him playing. I did think it was interesting that there was so much more snow on the roads and paths than on the grass.
Now wee have a fire in the fireplace, it is starting to snow again and Hobbes is curled up next to me snoozing away.

@shanaber So glad you had such a nice visit to Boise! It's so fun watching dogs eat the snow. Tippy runs with her mouth down and open...reminds me of a bulldozer or something.

I am going to need some accountability with my food..starting after my race in FL this week. I have to be reasonable and not set myself up for failure. But, I got a shock yesterday when I started to get dressed for work. I was going to wear a fairly new pair of pants that I had bought and they wouldn't zip! I knew that the scale was inching it's way up, but kept telling myself it was water weight, since I have been eating waaayyyyyy too much salty foods. Now, I think part of it is water, but not all. Geeze. As of this morning, I am 20 pounds higher than my stretch goal and 15 pounds higher than my "like to stay at" goal. I noticed in my journal that I started inching up about a year ago, when I was having back issues. I should have dropped some after I started running more, but that didn't happen. I just haven't been paying enough attention to what is going in my mouth. I am going to try to start eating less processed foods again. That really helped me before. Anyway, just thought I would put that out there so you know and I have made the commitment. Hope you all are doing well - better than me on the food front.

@quilteryoyo - isn't it crazy how the weight can sneak up on you? I know I have gained from where I was 'ok' with it but it was still higher than it should be so I am back to needing to lose 15-20lbs too. What I find most interesting though is how my body seems to be changing again. My pants (jeans) still fit fine. Some of my running leggings are a little tighter in the butt and waist but mostly I notice it now in my tops! I have been a S-M for years now and I refuse to go to a L... That means I need to fix it or go topless ๐Ÿ˜‚

To that end, we are home now so I need to get back on my workout/running schedule and back to better regular eating.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to FL and an awesome, fun race! It will be so cool to run at Canaveral! Take lots of pictures afterwards!

Thanks @shanaber . Sounds like we're pretty much in the same boat. We can cheer each other on.

I got to FL yesterday afternoon. Just mostly been chillin with Tippy. We did do bib pick up this morning. I think I'm ready for tomorrow.... not the early rise though
I hope I can get to sleep early. If not, it'll be a sleepy run and naps tomorrow afternoon.

    Good morning!

@shanaber Your experience of Boise was 180 from mine LOL. I went there twice, both in the summer, and it was SO hot! I am glad you guys had fun and enjoyed some cozy winter time. I have outgrown all my bras and if I take too deep of a breath I feel like a rib is going to crack LOL

I was out all last week in Transition Assistance Class. It is 3 days mandatory class and then 2 days optional employment class. The first day was all about VA benefits which is after listening to it all was good info but not fully helpful. It was mainly talking about life insurance, medical, and crisis support. I learned that based on my status I am the lowest priority so I probably won't be able to use much. But I did learn that I need to get my medical records in between 1 Mar- 30 May to get benefits upon separation vs waiting for the paperwork to go though after I retire. I guess that should light a fire under me. I think I am going to make an appt for my bunions and I am out if ideas after that LOL. i was surprised how many people didn't stay for the employment portion. it was 2.5 days on how to use LinkedIn and write a resume. I am so lost on resumes, I would rather have to rewrite my master thesis LOL. But I got something started, a 10% solution perhaps LOL.

So my drama, ugh I hate it. Last Monday was our public hearing and my Agent sent me an email that said the only people to show up was him and PD and his wife. PD got 3 minutes to state his grievances which he said was "my driveway is so steep that it causes storm-water runoff damage". I guess that was the only thing he had on me (and it is false), which is good I guess. My Agent said he was super rude to the board members and interrupted them several times, probably when they were explaining his issue was not part of the permit I am asking for. Afterward the wife approached my Agent (she is evidently nice, my mom had nothing bad to say about her other than she does what PD says). She told my Agent that they were just trying to be neighborly and work out their differences and I refused to listen and passed her contact info to give to me to please work together, they will even compensate me. My Agent said when the PD was talking his hackles went up in some caveman response to danger. He said when his wife was talking, he stood in the back, arms crossed and stared at the Agent. So when PD was taking he made a veiled threat that "he had read the appeal form and was taking the first steps". It would cost him $850 to file an appeal (which I am sure he would justify). The appeal would delay me 3-4 months but as mentioned, has nothing to do with my permit so would be thrown out. So the question at hand was, do we call his bluff? Or do I send an email reiterating my stance that I will not make a decision for 5 years. I messaged a friend of my mom's and got a name of a lawyer she recommends in case it comes to me having to send a cease and desist letter.

My other bit of drama was I was notified the report I drafted for the commander on the mean supervisor seems to have been escalated and he was put on admin leave for a week while they sort out if they will fire him. Knowing the guy, he will probably resign first, looks better since he may go for another GS position.

The rest of life is going on. Retirement looms, I have a lot planning to do and my annual vacay is right in the middle of it and making things interesting. I did also learn that when we get our construction loan, we have to pay on it right away...so that means when I retire, we will have $3000 in rent plus about $3000 in loan payment (it is essentially an interest only mortgage). DH and I really need to look at our finances to see if I can still do my business with the extra payment and with the delays, if I will need some sort of income to qualify now.

Weight is is still going up, heaviest I have been in my life. Trying to think about what food goes in my mouth.

Best get to writing my to do list.

@CMorning99 Big hugs to you. There is a lot going on in your life right now. One thing and one day at a time is my moto at times like that.

hi all. I'm on a break between semesters. Lots of catching up on missed appointments and house cleaning.

Mallory went AWOL back in September-october. I guess a coyote got her. I feel horrible about it. I think I let her out one wednesday and didn't see her again. I hope someone just took her.

So I got Beary a "new" lil sister. Hayami Mochi. Hayami means "rare and unusual beauty" in Japanese. Mochi is the rice gluten treat found in a few ice creams here. It's a textural treat. She had her first check up yeasterday at the vet and has a grade II heart murmur. In cats, it's rarely benign. No vaccinations and we will return in March to get her an EKG. It may resolve. If not, the vet can safely spay her with alternate anaesthesia. Really glad I didn't take her back to the pound to be spayed, I think they might be prone to miss/not look for it. She is a Caliby or a tabico (tabby/calico).

    Mochi and Kevin

The vet wanted a pic of Mochi but she wouldn't coorporate so I got a nice one of her yesterday.
Kev stole Sandy's chewy boney. He's still a goon. At 16 months old Kev is 100lbs, Sandy 95.5. Please excues my half dead plant behind Kev. I repotted it and thought it loved being outside. It can't tolerate direct sun apparently...

@swenson19d Sorry to hear about Mallory. Your new kitty is really cute and Kev is an adorable goofball. As for your plant - I have a corn plant too that I can't seem to find a happy place in the my house. I keep moving it around. It's pretty happy where it is now, but not sure it is going to make it.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates.

    Hi @swenson19d!! Merry Christmas!
I am so sorry about Mallory. The coyotes here have really been on the prowl and many people have lost pets. We have block walls around most yards here and they do nothing to keep the critters out especially if there is any kind of cat/dog food left out. It is much easier for the coyotes to catch a pet than have to chase after a rabbit or squirrel.
Mochi is beautiful. I look forward to seeing pictures of her as she matures, her marking are really lovely. Kevin and Sandy are so big now! I always figured they were going to be big puppies but wow! and they still have some growing to do and then filling out some more. Kevin does look like a goofball but I just want to snuggle up to him.
Hope your classes are going well and you are enjoying them.
Other than a money tree my housekeeper gave me I only have succulents and one big pothos I have had forever. When Hobbes was a puppy I had the pothos up on a shelf and he managed to jump up and pull it down shattering the pot and breaking to plant into pieces. Surprisingly, I replanted it and it has done well and just grown and grown. I figure I would really have to do a lot to kill it. The succulents do ok but I have managed to kill several along the way.

@CMorning99 - hope you are doing well and enjoying the holiday!
I don't understand all the issues with PD but I would call his bluff and let him spend the money to appeal. He sounds to me like one of those who just wants to be the center of attention and create drama. What is the decision you wouldn't make for 5 years - not the decision to build?

I have been baking and baking... gave most all of the cookies away and we had a Christmas party at agility class when it had rained so much that we couldn't run. We all decided to come anyway and just have some fun and share cookies. One of the ladies made chocolate dipped pretzels that were amazing. Today I baked my sourdough bread (for everyday bread) and I used some of the starter for sourdough rolls. They look kind of like crescent rolls as you roll and slice the dough. The recipe makes 16 rolls and since there is just my dh and me we didn't need that many dinner rolls. I split the dough in half instead and made 8 dinner rolls and put a cinnamon filling in the other half and made sourdough cinnamon rolls for breakfast in the morning. I hope they taste as good as they look! I will definitely need to get some running and workouts in to burn off all of those calories. I am also going to make bacon wrapped roasted green bean bundles for our Christmas dinner, with ham.
