Hey all! I'm enjoying Mother's Day activities but wanted to swing by and say hello, and Happy Mother's Day. My weigh-in reflects the fun I've been having since Friday. My NSV is, I don't really care! LOL
I'll be back tomorrow with those details.

Another busy weekend for me. I walked all day Saturday at the zoo with 3 of my grandsons! Sunday was spent weeding my flowerbeds and working in my yard!
I love catching up on all the posts and NSV's in this group - you all are doing amazing!
I'm wanting to try IF, but am having a tough time of it....not because I cant fast, but because of trying to fast while keeping such a hectic schedule! But I'm going to try again this week...
I would like to ask advice from some of you who have lost alot of weight on keto, or who have been on keto for awhile now - do you count just straight carbs or net carbs? Ive been counting just straight carbs and trying to stay in the 20-25g per day range.

I did pretty good this week until I splurged this weekend during a friends graduation lunch and again at Mother’s day brunch at one of my favorite restaurants.... Goal this week is to avoid eating out to better manage staying on track. I still had a loss so I’m excited and will keep moving forward!

Intermittent Fasting (IF) is where the magic happened for me on keto. Because I’m usually not hungry when I wake up I could easily push off breaking my fast (breakfast) until later and later each day. After about one month of keto I had settled into a schedule of starting my eating window at 10:30-11:00am and ending it about 5:00-6:00pm. I’ve also cut down to only two meals a day during my 7-8 hour eating window. That gives me 16-17 hours of fasting a day.
This worked for me because I live a charmed life far better than I deserve. I do 95% of all the cooking, shopping and prep, because I enjoy doing those things. In addition, I’m a happily retired empty nester with only my wife and myself to worry about. My wife loves me to cook for her but she can’t understand why I’ve lost 45 pounds and she’s lost only 5 over the last four months. (She won’t give up beer).
I’m still losing weight on keto. I expect to reach my goals sometime soon and I honestly think I can maintain this lifestyle after attaining my ideal weight. Bottom line is, this lifestyle fits well with my circumstances. It has actually freed up time and effort for me. And above all I eating fat and I keto.
By the way, you are doing great! Thirteen pounds in only 2 months. I'm not sure I could juggle all the things you do and keep up. Hang in there!

My NSV today is quite simple: I feel great! I posted my Before and After pics because it is said, a picture is worth a thousand words, or in my case at least 45 pounds. The 2017 side of my picture shows an obese prediabetic low energy guy with high BP and cholesterol. Knee and shoulder surgeries, arthritis and other obesity related ailments relegated me to sitting on the bench keeping score for my over 65 softball team last season. I was too fat and sick to play in 2017.
The 2018 side of the picture shows me literally back in the game. In four months I’ve reversed or eliminated most of my health issues. I feel better than I have in at least ten years. I honestly believe keto has given me my life back. Put me in coach, I’m ready to play!
Can I just say how amazing this transformation is in such a short period of time?! WOW!!
We have several over 65 softball teams in this area. We go sit in the park and watch. It's great to see the older generation staying young, fit & healthy. Way to go!!2 -
Hey people!
What a WEEK I had! No logging, no measuring, just eating what I felt I needed and wanted. All was fine until Mother's Day happened. I even forgot to weigh myself BEFORE eating all the things. Geez! Had a gain, planned and expected it. All is good!
NSV: Yesterday I was washing my hair, and realized my hair is shiny, stronger and falls out less than before. I can attribute that to how I've been eating in the past 2 months (lots of protein!) I've never dieted and lost weight before without my hair thinning. This is AWESOME!!! Seriously!!

Hi, everyone! A bit late signing in this week, but I have another NSV this week. We went to visit my mom over the weekend and I knew that I was going to have to be somewhat lax in controlling the carbs. I wasn't going to panic if I stepped on the scales this morning and found a few extra pounds attached. Normally after over-indulging in carbs the water just hangs around. I was only up half a pound, and I know that will drop off soon! This week wil also be a challenge because we are attending a conference from Wed thru Sun with two days of travel on both ends. I plan to take my keto food, but some meals are provided and won't be keto-friendly.
Might not reach the 150s this month after all, but there is always another chance next month. This group has given me the inspiration to just keep plodding along, knowing that if I do the right thing consistently, results will follow eventually!

1. I am now in the 150s, weighing in at 159.4 this morning. The goal weight I set here on MFP back in January of 2018 is 154.4. Reaching that would put me at 50 pounds lost for 2018. So, today I’m under 160 and within 5 pounds of that 50 lb benchmark.
2. And most significant to me, I’ve lost 45 pounds. It is a special number for me because that is the weight of 3 bowling balls of the weight I use (3x15=45).
My NSV today is quite simple: I feel great! I posted my Before and After pics because it is said, a picture is worth a thousand words, or in my case at least 45 pounds. Congrats stormywxs288!! What an achievement of not only losing 45lbs since January, but having eliminated all your health issues and getting back in the game! Looking good!
Amazing!!! @Stormy, you truly inspire me.

NSV: I have been disappointed that my schedule has not allowed me to get to the gym. The fact that I WANT to go to the gym again is a victory! I have seen the pattern that my anxiety is up and I don't deal with stress as well when I am not working out. Walks help, but I have found that harder, sweaty exercise works wonders!5 -
Hello everyone! I'm new to keto, today is day one. Although it's going to be a soft start today because I have to go grocery shopping after work to get ready for full start tomorrow! I've never done any low carb diets but am looking forward to the results!5

Hey everybody. I'm new here (just joined the group today).

I needed to post my starting weight, because sometimes I forget how far I've come. In less than three months, I've stopped all insulin and diabetes medications, increased insulin sensitivity, fit back into my favorite jeans from three years ago, and now said jeans are becoming too big on me!
I've lost 26 lbs, which is a huge accomplishement for me, BUT is not the ONLY achievement I have made. I am happier, healthier, more energetic, and winning at life! Keep calm and keto on, everyone!!
Confession time: I ate some fries on Sunday. OMG they were goooood! I MISS FRIES!! But I had like 5 instead of a whole handful. I don't think it affected me too much, ketosis-wise. I also drank a couple of dirty martinis and a glass of sauvignon blanc (two different meals, haha!), so I'll probaby be up next Sunday, but it was worth it!
My NSV: I won the Workweek Hustle (Fitbit challenge) last week among my nail polish buddies! It was awesome! I haven't pushed myself that hard in a long time. I'm a bit behind on this week's challenge, but I plan on getting more steps each day this week so I can catch up and hopefully take the lead! ^_^5 -
I just added to the spreadsheet. Just started keto three days ago and am down 4 lbs.

WARNING: This is not an NSV it is a TMI observation.
One thing I don’t like about social media is I think people share Too Much Information (TMI). However, today I’m going to be a hypocrite and do exactly what I say I don’t like about the internet. I’m going to share some very personal Keto TMI.
When I used to eat a lot of carbs (Before Keto) I pooped at least once a day. Now that I’m on keto, I only poop once every 3-4 days. I don’t feel constipated or have any uncomfortable feelings. I think I’m just literally NOT full of “__it” on keto.
I had a dog who used to take off running in circles whenever she finished her business. I never could understand where her sudden burst of energy came from after a bowel movement. Now that I’m on keto and have infrequent sit down bathroom visitations, I can totally relate to my dog’s enthusiasm of relieving herself of unneeded weight of waste material.
Even though I don’t get up and run in circles after I poop, I have to admit I do have a surge of energy and evidently an urge to share TMI.

This made me truly laugh out loud. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning, even if it was with a post about poop.3 -

I agree with @skctilidie This made me laugh out loud, because I think a lot of us can relate. Sometimes TMIs can be appropriate.2 -
I cracked up when I read @stormywxs288 post about his B.M's !! I needed a laugh today!
Seriously tho, Im relatively new to keto (almost 2 months now) and have been taking fiber most days because I'm not getting enough fiber in my diet and I was concerned! Should I NOT worry about the fiber? If I'm trying to keep my carbs between 20-25g per day, how many grams of fiber should I be shooting for?
TIA for any insight or wisdom you can give!0 -
I was logged on yesterday and had this whole reply typed out the...BLANK...power outage.
@xDaniDragonflyx awesome job on your Workweek Hustle win. I haven't done that myself in a bit.
@stormywxs288 This is EXACTLY Mr Nikki! I wonder if I can convince him to weigh himself pre & post poop...you know, for data (laughs).
welcome @db19732018 You joined us JUST in time for poop talk. Fun times!!
Here are recent NSVs!!! WOOO HOOO
I can run DOWN the stairs. For years I had to be very careful just walking down because sometimes my knees would lock and I didn't want to fall face first down or to my death (am I being dramatic?! ) Seriously though, I run up and down and my joints just cooperate.
I am currently wearing a pair of boots that wouldn't zip past my calves. My calves were 3 inches too wide when I bought them in the fall. Today they fit perfectly WITH my jeans tucked inside. AWESOME!
Lastly, I realized that for the first time in many years, I am healthy enough to be an organ donor. I've always checked the organ donor box on my driver's license, but from my understanding, organs from obese donors can be excluded. I'm not sure if that only applies to living donors, but it's not even an issue anymore. I am grateful for this. I always talk to Mr Nikki about donating, and for the first time it doesn't seem like an empty gesture.
Anyway, here is a picture of how my week is going. Positivity doesn't end at my keyboard folks. When life happens, or in this case a massive oak, you face it head on and GET IT DONE!
Bonus NSV:
I haven't eaten all the ice cream in the freezer!

@Mrs_Hoffer Unless I'm eating nuts or lots of veggies I get no fiber in my diet. I'm more regular now than before keto. If you really feel like you need it, you can try ground chia seeds and high fiber veggies. I'm sure it's different for everyone but I find I do better when I don't get much fiber.2
