don't forget Team. we are now able to track your steps. every week when you weigh in, include your weekly step count and we will add it to the spreadsheet.

    not to be confused with:

the 10 of us who volunteered for the step challenge. those of you go to the December step challenge thread and check in with your steps daily ( you can do it here weekly as well)

I will exercise for at least 45 min and reach my 10k steps.

These are the small steps I have taken to make the day successful:

I will go to the trainer today(don't always get steps here)
I will make sure I get at least 1,000K an hour today.

Today, every act matters. Every small step I take to reach my goal is a step towards a healthier body. My goal for today is to:

Prepare for step 2 of cleanse. Days 3-6

These are the small steps I have taken to make the day successful:

Tonight I will plan my meals for days 3-6.
I will write out my grocery list.
I will plan my morning tomorrow to allow for a walk, yoga and grocery store before I go into work. (work at 12:45). This will be interesting since I also have to drop off Skylynn at school and snow is in the forecast. Which is exactly why I am committing to have a plan today.

Exercise: Yoga Day 3 and 55 min cardio

I'm really enjoying the yoga...thanks @Mrsbell8well for the challenge suggestion. Cardio yesterday was a mix of jogging while watching TV and jumping/dancing/being silly with my kids for 20 minutes! So fun! I feel like I've got my routine/momentum back with eating and exercise and it feels good!

    Great pledges today, Team!

Water: lots but forgot to login the afternoon
Exercise: 4 mile hike with dogs; 17,369 steps

Yesterday got really busy and I didn't get a chance to do yoga. It may be 30 days of Yoga in 60 days. I know that's not the intent but it may be the best I can do. Took the dogs for a hike. Soon there will be too much snow and I'l be confined to the roads so I'm trying to get in as many hikes while we still can. Most of the decorating is done. I actually went through everything and set aside a box to donate and a box for the garbage can. Felt good to downsize the Christmas decorations a bit to the stuff that's most meaningful.

    Tipsy Tuesday:
Schedule your exercise in your calendar. Make an appointment with yourself.

Yeah "Portion Control" isn't very catchy and sounds too negative LOL. How 'bout make it a "Just Enough December", I don't know... I got nothing I guess.

I missed lunch yesterday, had only had a slice of bacon for breakfast, and was starving when I got home. My darling Wyfe told me she'd had a day from hell and she was not cooking and this was what we were having for dinner:

    urugcg4spnts.jpg

Not a veg, not a meat, not a dinner roll. Just soup. I whimpered about being hungry. "You're trying to lose weight anyway" she growled, daring me to open my mouth again. I ate my soup and shut up.

Sometimes I wish she wasn't quite so, um, supportive. :p

@carlsoda Nice loss! We are also keeping track of the steps for the week if you have them handy

I totally forgot to post my steps! I'm still trying to figure out what I'm suppose to post daily, so I need a little hand holding at the moment:

Thank goodness for Fitbit...here's my steps so far for December...

    12/01: 10,314
    12/02: 11,621
    12/03: 10,314

I have also done yoga for the last 3 days! My body is feeling much better with the daily stretches!!

OK...lunch time so off to get some steps at the mall :)

@lenka1 - I sure can relate to the treats your mom sent you! I'm originally from Canada and live in the U.S. now. You'd think to yourself...basically the same country right...but everything is so different including the food. All my food growing up is very English and I miss a lot of them including Timbits (from the hugely popular donut store in Canada) I go home one a year or so and try to keep it all under control. It's hard :) Putting your treats in the freezer does help! Good luck!!

Happy Tuesday everyone. I am happy to report that I don't have any parties or restaurants to attend today! That was getting a bit crazy and I really don't do well in those situations. When I go to restaurants I always try to look up the menu ahead of time and make a plan - but restaurant food is just not the same as the food I cook at home. Plus it is too tempting to order more than my original plan. Today I get to cook and use my new scale! I'm actually excited about using it since I love new toys - and hey - its a positive thing in my life!!

@nstephenson01 The great thing about the yoga is that you can customize it. There was a time that I did all 30 but did it every other day. You can start anytime of the month. In October I got to day 15 and had to stop because of migraine. In the past I have probably done all 30 days in 1 months time about 3 times. This month I am going for it again. But it totally needs to be what works for you! Great job with the decorating. I am in the midst of same such projects. Always love hearing about the hikes. I agree on the tip. If it goes on my calendar it becomes a "given" instead of a decision. Thanks for sharing!
@carlsoda yeah mall walking! You doing great getting in your steps! Good job on yoga too!
@eyesopennow poor Mike. I always carry almonds, pumpkin seeds, cuties and oranges with me. I hate being hungry.
@pacsnc6 Hey your scale went down! That's always encouraging. Great job with your exercise and rolling that dice!
@Shirin_K I am so glad you are enjoying the yoga. Your active time with your kids sounds like a lot of fun. Good for you. It is so nice to have physical activities as part of our Holiday joy...not just cookies and candy canes!
@phoebe112476 making a pledge and commitment gets you 1/2 way there! good job!

    @Lyssysho26 Hooray! Nice loss!!

@phoebe112476 Nice loss! Love your exercise pledge!

    @Mrsbell8well Great pledge!

@Shirin_K It is amazing how much simpler it is when you are in a routine. Great job! Love your pledge too!

@pacsnc6 Looks like you had a great day!! Keep it going!

@eyesopennow Sorry but I had to laugh...sorry about your skimpy meal. I like how you knew not to argue.

@nstephenson01 Another great day! I say every year that I am going to get rid of some of the decorations I am not using and never do. I need to do that this year too!

@Carlsoda I don't think I can log it for you. Go to the following link and add them.

@lennoncpa Good for you! I love new kitchen toys too. So I am curious...are you back to eating sweets? I know you gave that up for November. How is the portion control going? Have you learned anything that will work for you next time your in the party/restaurant situation? I have a Christmas party in a few weeks. I looked at the menu and didn't think I could have anything but I did find a lovely spinach salad that I can adapt. I love your can do attitude!
@lenka1 Good will power. I had to laugh that you licked the chocolate and smelled the mint bar. I inhale the coffee scent in my car and thoroughly enjoy it without the caffeine. I am with you though...1 bite would just have me wanting more. It makes my life easier knowing that I am not eating that stuff rather than scheduling it in as a treat. But I have been successful both ways. Depends on where you are at on your plan for sure. I am no longer eating sugar...but if I were I would devour all those pretty cookies you posted!
@Lyssysho26 You got your loss girl. How are you feeling? Are you eating? I know you were going through a rough patch.

@cyndiesstuff I think you should post a pic of you in your pretty new hat. Thanks for the tipsy Tuesday tip!
@sleepymom5 I have been wondering how the vertigo is going with you? I really enjoyed hearing about the time you to spend with your son. Any updates on Mom? I would love to see pics of your holiday décor. Nice tip today. I am going to see how often I stand when I eat.

And speaking of pics...I would like to declare this Friday...Foto Friday...Let's post a pic of something to do with the Holidays, winter or something festive. We are supposed to dress up as santas helpers on Friday. I will post a pic of that but still have no idea what to wear.

@Ashleigh1178 Hey welcome back! A fresh start is a wonderful thing!!! I was doing good but hit a weird funk in October. It turned out to be a "reboot" for me. This whole journey is about learning and tweaking and finding out what is right for us. And we have the freedom to change that plan anytime we need to. Our attitude is often the biggest thing that can help us on this journey. As @cyndiesstuff said...keep smiling. But it is work. It takes a lot of energy to figure out what we need to figure out. Hang in there it is so worth it!!!

@jedaschultz You are off to a great start in December. It is fascinating to see that we can still focus on health and lose those pounds even when we see a different story all around us. That is why I love this group. Like minded individuals encouraging and motivating each other.
@twyla77 It may sound counter intuitive but eating more can actually help you budge that scale. I noticed when I make an effort to eat more salads and vegetables the scale seems to reward my efforts. But everyone is right...you keep it up and you will see a big loss next week more in likely.
@Mandi5512 so sorry to hear about the sick kiddos. That makes life hard for everyone. Make sure you are taking care of your health as well!
@code4food welcome to the loser circle. Many are off to a great start this December. My weigh in is tomorrow. Hoping to join you in the celebrations!
@jbfitnss67 appreciate your great positive attitude! Welcome to our winning team!

@gottagetthisdown I am not worried about you one bit. I have seen what you can do. You just keep doing what you know to do. Next week you will be back on the losing side.
@amsandos I love to cook and bake. When I was young I had 5 kids at home. I always used to taste my cooking. I would sit down to family meals and already be stuffed from all the tasting. At one point I stopped and for the last 30 years I never taste my cooking lol. I know how tasty those kiddie leftover morsels can be. But your right they do add up all those calories. It feels good to make a plan and stay with it. If you eat it...you log it.

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well as we start December.

Got lots done over the weekend. Our house is decorated for Christmas, cleaned, food shopped, laundry etc. It feels so good when the house is in order and I can enjoy the tree.

I headed to the gym on Sunday morning, they have been renovating it for a few months, but still remained open. I guess they decided they needed to close for over a week and just get everything done. They are re-opening on Monday, 12-10. I drove there to find it under construction, so that puts a damper on my workouts for the week. I will still do my DVD's every day to make up for the missed gym days, but I will not get my high step counts in during the week. I do not think I will have as big of a loss this week either. I burn a lot of calories on the elliptical. Regardless, I will workout every day and stay on track with my eating. I am interested to see how my weight-loss plays out this week. It is a good experiment to see if it makes a difference.

    Have a wonderful day!

@ihp2015 yes you me, and @jbfitnss67. I am hoping for a loss for all 3 of us!
@kirsten11872 Oh that's a bummer! I am always in awe of the huge amounts of calories you burn. I have never tried an elliptical but it definitely works for you. Maybe a little break will help your muscles to come back stronger next week.
@bmaison2014 Wow look at you sliding down the 190's scale. You will be in the 180's before you know it.
