Daily Check In for Friday
Food - Logged and on target
Water - 800 ml (and I had a much needed glass of wine on Friday night!)
Exercise - Physio and 10,032 steps
Spending much of my weekend in cold hockey arenas as I am the mom of 2 goalies!
What am I aiming for in 2019?
Health - recovering from my injury, get back to running, achieving my goal weight & stopping the weight fluctuations once and for all.
Balance and family - Started this one in 2018. After over 23 years in the corporate world, I left my busy job in 2018 (am a lawyer) and started my own part time legal practice. The goal was and is to have more time for family and to do the things that I love in work and life. I am loving it so far and my family is happier too!
Joy - Also from 2018. Obviously, a goal from my Marie Kondo focus! Tidying my house is the starting point for focusing on the things that bring me joy in life. My husband and I used to travel a lot prior to having kids. Now that the kids are older, we have started to travel more again. We have a Florida trip planned in early spring, then we are taking the kids to Europe this summer and I plan on visiting a dear friend in Arizona at some point this year.
@carlsoda - Congratulations on the new grand baby!!
@sleepymom5 and @phoebe112476 - Hope the tidying is going well! The kids and I are finishing up their clothes and rooms this weekend. Marie is such a sweetheart on the show, very kind and gentle. Even though she speaks mostly Japanese, I hear her voice in my head encouraging me as I am tidying!

Water: lost track but it was a lot
Exercise & Steps: 30 minute dog walk; 12,502 steps
Exercise and water wise I've been exceeding my goals but ever since my disappointing weigh in on Thursday my eating has been off track. I've been helping hubby with physically demanding outside projects and I'm just exhausted, cold and hungry at day's end. Thankfully he cooked one of his stir fry concoctions last night using the last of our fresh veggies but its impossible to log. I was so grateful to not have to figure out dinner and was in bed before 8:30! My weight just continues to go up each day. The other thing is that we're having a really weird winter here in Montana and have a ton of ice which is unusual. I am such a baby when it comes to driving on ice so I haven't been to town in days. I hate the feeling of being trapped at home. But the new me is eating healthy so I put on my big girl panties and drove to town to stock up on fresh fruit and veggies. Fingers crossed the weight starts coming off. My app hasn't been working so I'm way behind on posts. Will catch up on how everyone's doing.cyndiesstuff wrote: »End of the Week Challenge:
Zig Ziglar once said, “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.”
What are you aiming at? Is it written down? Will what you’re aiming at change your life? Start a new direction? Help build your legacy? Create health and happiness?
I am aiming to be within a healthy weight range by the end of June when I turn 50. I intend to be healthier in my 50's than in my 40's and probably even 30's. Healthy living will be the norm, not the exception. I will be a strong, fit, sexy and healthy 50 year old!! At the end of 2019 I will have successfully navigated several months in maintenance stage, including the six weeks in late summer/early fall we have house guests!! That's what I'm aiming for!!
Wishing everyone a great weekend!!

It’s beautiful and snowy out.
Lula Mae is snug and comfy.
I’m worn out but off to do yoga.

I was really proud of myself yesterday. I knew it was going to snow this weekend so I took my running shoes and ran at lunch. I wanted to make sure I was well nourished so I took my rice cooker to work w me. Enjoyed basmati rice and leftover red curry sweet potato soup with lots of fresh cilantro and green onion.
Molly spending weekend at her moms. MIL still struggling.9 -
Today was a great day, but it was also a little scary food wise. Went to a friend's house to play with her 2yo while she did hair and makeup for another friend. We had chicken tacos from a kit from Costco. Hostess had already thrown the packaging away, so I had to guess on the calorie count. I have come to really hate guessing so I (I think) overestimated.
Now I'm not sure how much I ate or how many calories I burned chasing the kid around (but chasing game, picking up and putting down squirmy toddler, going up and down stairs... I'd say maybe 150, maybe more?... but don't want to put that in b/c what if I'm wrong?
It's hard to be accurate and on track in social situations, and you don't want to be the obnoxious "I'm on a diet" person either.
I did notice during the toddler chasing that I had a lot more energy, so I'm excited for that. Got a brunch with some other girlfriends tomorrow. Hope my guestimations are good ones!
Food: Maybe on track? Not sure.
Water, about 50 oz
Exercise: Yoga and toddler chasing6 -
@amsandos spin class will burn alot of calories. good job at keeping active. sounds like a win win pizza, fun, exercise. what a great day you had.
@lenka1 woooooo whooooo now thats the way you do it. good job. your goal is totally doable.
@phoebe112476 tidying must be in the air. it is contagious like yoga! i got yoga in twice today. once this morning before my morning walk and then once in the evening to stretch the muscles in my neck back and shoulders. i am so proud of you! you keep this up.
nope @nstephenson01 you have just been added to the spread sheet, at some point the powers that be changed it from a 10 member team to 12 and forgot to tell people. thanks for stepping up (see what i did there?) do you have your steps from the beginning of january? go to the thread, the link is in my last post and post as many of the days that you have a record for. welcome aboard!! i love you aim!! you are dead on girl. now get that food back under control and lets get this done. 2019 is going to be our year!!
@Zumba_Luvah thats just a small gain. what are you going to differently this week? what plans have you made to help you be successful? thanks for checking in. we would really like to hear more from you. it would really help you with motivation. you need to make yourself a priority. you are the care taker. don't forget to take care of yourself.
@Shirin_K i agree going to my folks house is hard. they always want to feed me. and its usually not the best food. I finally decided to tell my folks that i couldnt eat there and why. they really didn't care they were just happy i came to visit.
@FieryVixsin hey there you go. the scale moved in the right direction. good job.
@sleepymom5 boy sometimes life is crazy isn't it? whats going on with your shoulder? did you hurt it? and you are right, is is hard getting old. but its gonna happen whether we want it to or not so might as well enjoy the ride. and i love the new glasses i picked out they are very dark purple with light purple flexs in them. i will take a picture when i get them. she said probably two weeks. and these ones are a little bigger than my previous ones. but thats the new style.
@kirsten11872 ohh kirsten. pick up the pieces girl. maybe start recording your food for the day when you get up in the morning. many times if you right it down you stick to it. and have you made an advantages list and put it on your frig and on the bathroom mirror? write down all the reasons you need to lose this weight for good this time and read it every time you go to the frig or the bathroom. keep your reasons top in mind.
@Cafelelia Yahhhh, enough calories left over for a glass of wine. good job. your being a good mom. and i bet you look cute in a sweater!! and i love what your aiming at. good job at having that plan.
@lovemickeymouse ayayayayay. good job. l love it when the scale goes down. you keep up the hard work.
@Mrsbell8well you kitchen looks amazing. good job. so pretty. and lula mae is loving her blankie! lol. i will say a pray for mollys mom. i hope she finds her answer soon.
@czvanut Well chicken tacos are better than beef, calorie wise. so you were probably safe there. and you know i have gotten to the point where i do my diet stuff every where. if people find it offensive they can walk away till im done. i have to track. and more energy is a great sign of your health improving. good job. that is another nsv for you.
just thought i would catch up tonite. big day tomorrow. kitchen is cleaned. laundry is done, grocery list is made. i am ready to go grocery shopping and do the prep for the week tomorrow. i am thinking sweet and sour chicken, chili, and chicken teriyaki stir fry and beef bone broth soup.

13 day string on new plan
Good day yesterday. Did my walk and yoga for 20 minutes in the morning. I did yoga that was targeted for the neck, shoulders and spine. Then got my eyes check. I picked out some really nice new glasses. I love them. Then I took my oldest son grocery shopping and to do his running around. We had a very tender moment on the way back to his apartment. I held his hand and told him that I will alway love him. Hes my favorite. He said i love you to mom. Your the best mom ever even tho you can be a little crazy! lol we laughed and i kiss his hand. awhhh. just thinking about it makes my heart sing. Then I came home and Jim (aka the ole boy) had been google searching. Not for the part for the stove. not for car parts but for a pizza place that has a gluten, sugar, and dairy free pizza. He found a place about a half hour from home and said do you want to go? Do I? heck yes. First of all how sweet can my day be? two of my most favorite men love me! second of all, pizza that fits my plan? i am in heaven. so we went to the restaraunt. They quit making that pizza last year. i asked if they could make me one and they said no, that chef is gone and it was his recipe. so i had a salad with no cheese and no bread and no dressing and the ole boy had pasta. thats ok tho. because if there was one place that does it there has to be more i just have to find it. maybe @Mrsbell8well and I should open up our own restaraunt where we use only fresh whole foods and we cater to people with food issues.
@twyla77 uhhh ohhh! sounds like you have build up some momentum! going to the gym on a rest day? you go girl! oh yea and i added all your numbers into the spreadsheet. your all set there thanks for Stepping up.
@Mrsbell8well and i know i already commented on your puppy pic but now i am on my desktop computer and i see her picture big instead of small on my phone. look at the way she is looking at you. i think she looks slightly annoyed you interrupted her nap. you know, it is hard being a cute black doggie. it takes alot of energy. she needs her beauty rest!!!!
Lets have the best Sunday ever!!

It's only my second week of doing this, but Sunday is "sneak peek" day. My official weigh in day is Wednesday, but on Sundays I check in to see progress.
This morning I was 158 for the first time in over a year! Let's hope I maintain that till Wednesday! Happy dance!!!!9 -
I seem to have a hard time at night with snacking. Any tips on how I can get better control of that?2

Still working on getting my eating under control. I think the cold weather and increased activity has a lot to do with my poor decisions and lack of willpower. Picked up my shattered pieces of motivation and glued them back together. As they say... today's a great day for a great day.
What a wonderful day you had yesterday @cyndiesstuff!! Thanks for sharing. Big hugs to you. I added my steps to the challenge link.
Whoo hoo @czvanut!! Keep dancing... it burns calories!!

Try brushing your teeth and switching to water to drink. Most of the time it’s just a habit and after a few days it will start to get better!5 -
Morning all!
Yesterday was a mixed day, not enough water, calories really low but carbs too high. Today is a new day 😁
I did get all my grocery shopping and today I am going to make unstuffed cabbage rolls low carb version for my lunches. Yum I love regular cabbage rolls so we will see how this turns out! I need to get more stricter with my carbs weight is creeping up...need to catch it now! We are also going to go see baby today! He is doing so well and has already changed...he has cute pink cheeks now 😁 I know he is calling for grandma and grandpa to visit,
@cyndiesstuff - amazing day yesterday! What a wonderful son and husband 😁3 -
Dining room done. And gorgeous snow out!
4 -
@cyndiesstuff yes let’s open that restaurant! Really proud of your choices.
@czvanut I did a sneak peak too. I’m also down. Hoping too that Wednesday is good for both of us. It’s encouraging.
Our health is so important. I now make sure I am prepared anywhere I go. Sometimes you have to bring your own food or bring a dish to contribute so you always have something tasty to eat.
My mom was chatting at me yesterday that I’m no longer eating “fun” food. She would truly rather die than give up fried foods, sweets and fast food. (She is on dialysis).
I thought about this. That is why you see so many of my delicious food pics. My goodness...my food is sooooo fun!!!! And beautiful and delicious and nutritious. I made a promise to myself when I started this journey that I would not feel deprived or left out. I eat better than anyone around me. Mrs. Bell does eat well!
Staying well stocked and pampering yourself with delicious food and beverages goes a long way to keeping us on track. It’s terrible to feel hungry and deprived. I’m living proof that you can eat lots of wonderful food and lose weight.3 -

Can anyone here recommend a good yoga mat? I can't find the one my Uncle let me have a long time ago and I'm impatient so I'd rather order another. There's one I want. But it's around $60-70 which is really out of my budget so cheaper would be better, as long as it's still a good mat. I found a plain one that I can get in purple, for $15. Almost 5 stars with over 9,000 reviews. It's hard when there are negative reviews, but then so many good reviews, hard to know what to do then. Get it or not...I'm an Amazon addict so I'd prefer to get it from there if I can, plus 2 day free shipping, can't beat that. 😋1

Water: 64 oz
Exercise & Steps: 30 min on stationary bike and 30 min on elliptical and only 7,438 steps
I was so bummed my steps were under yesterday. I guess my two exercises yesterday just didn't add up to a lot of steps. I didn't do well with the dinner party with the drinking. My glass was always full without me even noticing so it was hard to keep track and I drank way too much. Dinner wasn't too bad, a bowl of butternut squash soup and a pork sandwich. I only had a half and then a small amount of ice cream for dessert. I would have done well except for the alcohol. Then, to top it off, I feel awful today. It took me a while to get going today but it won't ruin my day. I still plan to exercise and get right back on track. That is all for today. I am going to bunco at a friend's house Friday and she is another one who fills up the glasses and you don't realize it. I am going to have to ask her not to do it. She won't care, she is a sweetie. Let's end the weekend right everyone! Have a great day!
I don’t know how I missed so many posts yesterday! I guess I didn’t refresh after I posted.
@zumba_luvah Thanks for checking in. Don’t let the scale frustrate you. I have a problem with snacking later too. I am working on resisting. The more you resist, the easier it becomes. Just follow your plan and don’t give up! You got this!
@shirin_k I have had one meal throw me off. Get yourself back on track ASAP. Glad you got your exercise in before you left for your parents!
@fieryVixsin Nice loss! Hope things are going well!
@cafelelia I love your goals for 2019! I am still in the reading and watching the show phase but I am hoping I can start today or tomorrow. I love how she is sweet and positive. No tough love or tearing people down like some of those reality shows do.
@lovemickeymouse. Nice loss!
@mrsbell8well your kitchen is pretty! Always love to see Lula Mae! Glad that you were able to get your running in before the snow. You completed week 1 of the C25K I believe! Great job! Love all your pics too! Hope Molly’s moms condition starts to improve. She’s has a rough time.
@czvanut when I don’t know I try to overestimate too. When those occasions come up I just do the best I can. It is nice when you can see you have more endurance. That’s shows how hard you have been working! Glad your “sneak peek” was good! Hope you enjoy brunch with your friends.
@twyla77 great day and amazing steps! And nice loss!
@cyndiesstuff you are so productive! What wonderful stories yesterday with your son and fiancé. So sweet! Maybe you can find out where that chef went to. It would be nice for you to be able to enjoy a meal without having to make it for a change
@nstephenson01 I actually have a little sign at the shore that says “today is a great day for a great day”! I know you have been having a hard time but it seems like you are turning things around. You can do it!
@carlsoda those cabbage rolls sound yummy! Enjoy seeing the little one!! So exciting!
@cassiegetsfit2013. Amazing loss! I know you were struggling this week too. Hope this week is better. Just make small increases in your steps and water so you aren’t overwhelmed. You can do this! I can’t help with the yoga mat. I will let all the yoga people help you with that. I love Amazon too! Lol!

I am trying to take time during Sunday to plan for the upcoming week. I plan my meals, make my shopping list and plan when I am going to workout. It is not set in stone, it needs to be tweeked as the week goes by. I know that a lot of you shop and food prep on Sunday for the week ahead. I would eventually like to do that as well. If you have anything to share or any tips please let us know!

@cyndiesstuff that is the sweetest story ever about Jim and Josh. How blessed you are. Thanks for sharing.
@CassieGetsFit2013 Great job on your loss.
Buy the $15 yoga mat. Sounds like good reviews. Some people like to use tea tree oil to clean them. I’m wanting to get some. I bought my mat at Ross. Time for a new one but I’m happy I got a year from it. Hmmmm I may have to ck out the one your getting.
@sleepymom5 sorry to hear about the alcohol situation. I know people are trying to be generous and your s kind hearted person. Maybe you can bring Perrier one night and skip the drink just to see what that’s like. I was a big whiskey girl along w beer and wine. I don’t miss it all as much as I thought I would. Especially nice to be peppy the next day when everyone has hangovers.
@nstephen01 I’m sending you some of my motivation. You can do this!!!3 -
So excited to be using my menu board again.
I didn’t have GF Panko bread crumbs. Used ground almonds instead o cauliflower . Oh my tasty. Drizzled on tasty sauce instead of glazing it.
Diet food lol7 -
@sleepymom5 Thanks, I'm glad I had a good loss, just shows TOM was probably cause for last weeks small gain, but was on TOM most of this week so good that I didn't see another gain! Will try to increase steps, & water, thinking I really need to do some of those walking videos you do since I know I'm not going outside. To wimpy for the cold! Yes, Amazon is great! Hehe.
@Mrsbell8well That food looks really good and I love your menu board! I think I will purchase the $15 yoga mat, they have a lot of nice colors, I'll probably get the purple. With so many reviews at over 9k and with half a star away from 5 it makes the negative reviews count less so just gotta hope when mine gets here that it will fall under a good review and be a good one! (:3 -
Daily Check in for Saturday
Food - Logged and under
Water - 1 litre
Exercise - Physio & 5,240 steps
@CassieGetsFit2013 - $15 is a good deal for a yoga mat, so go with that one. Walmart often has good yoga supplies at various price points too.
@Zumba_Luvah - Re the snacks, I find it helpful to keep them out of sight and if needed, go to another room to hang out. Also, substituting a cup of tea, flavoured water, a hot bath or anything else that you like to do.
@Mrsbell8well - What an inspiration! Love the tidy rooms, the doggie, the meal, the view and the menu board! Really love the red accents everywhere!
Do not have a tidying photo as my donation truck guys came by early. Had about a dozen boxes and bags of kids clothes, books, toys and some linens. Clothes & books are done & moving on to "kimono", which is miscellaneous items in kitchens, bathrooms etc. I am doing some meal prep today as well. My younger son and I made overnight oats (from the Skinnytaste website). Here is a photo of my little guy and our work together:

Yesterday I did 5 mile Leslie sansone walking video and then probably ruined it last night by going out. We got home really late and of course my internal clock had me up really early. So I barely had any sleep. I did get up and head to my Zumba class. Now I have done nothing all day and it's almost 5. I wish my body would say of you go to bed late you sleep late.
My plan for this week is...
get up and get my workout in
Drink plenty of water
Have all my meals ready to go the night before
