@Mrsbell8well I love the concept of the yearly word! I've never done it before, but I think that this year, my word might have to be two words: "conscientious control." I've embraced the existential idea that the only thing we can truly control is our own actions / reactions, but I really haven't put it into practice as fully as I could.
Today, for example, was one of those days that challenges my ability to control myself. There were schedule changes, surprise expectations, parent phone calls, running all over the world to gather information, feeling irritable, blah blah blah blah. This is the type of day where, no matter how "good" I was, I'd come home, have a drink, and dive into a bag of chips. This is my lack of conscientious control. This is where I have to remind myself that my short term choices affect my long term goals.6 -

Anyone else want to play?
I would pick “consistent” for myself.
Consistent with eating healthy and building/keeping healthy lifestyle
@Mrsbell8well also congrats on your interview! And 40 pounds loss! Way to go!!!
I’m a pound shy from 20 pounds loss in 90 days (it’s gonna be 90days on Thursday I believe) so here’s to hoping I will get there by end of this week or beg of next week.

I will play 😁 I have never heard of picking a word of the year but for me it would definitely be JOY. I have always tried to surround myself with peace and happiness but after watching a few episodes of Marie Kondo I definitely love the idea of surrounding myself with joy! Surrounding yourself with joy also brings peace and happiness that I strive for!5 -
@Mrsbell8well reading all your positive posts just now made me so happy! i’m so happy your interviews are going well! and i love your ‘wish list’ idea!4

Busy but a good day. I haven't heard back about the x ray but the PT doesn't think that it will show anything. She seems to know what is up. I actually felt a difference in one session. I have another Thursday. I will catch up with you all in the morning. It is just easier to check in quick at night to see what has been going on! Good night everyone!
@carlsoda I so want an air fryer! I know several people who have them and love them. Turnip fries sound yummy! Hope your shoulder starts to feel better soon.
@cafelelia glad you got antibiotics, hopefully everyone will be feeling better soon! Hugs!
@phoebe112476 how exciting that you are at your lowest in years! You have been doing fantastic! I am sure you are proud. Glad you are able to do the yoga at home when you can’t get to class. That meal planning sounds like something I may look into. It is easy to get into a rut with dinners. Can below average cooks do it? Some of your dinners sound fancy. Lol! Your evening sounds wonderful! Enjoy!
@twyla77 Thanks for the request, I got it! Enjoy the spa! That sounds amazing! Good plan with looking at the menu. What a nice thing for your company to do!
@mrsbell8well. How exciting! Good luck! So funny about your dream! I have no doubt you will be as successful in your budgeting plan as you were in your eating, exercising and overall health plan! Just keep that Molly from splurging on the Girl Scouts! Lol! Btw-is there any way you can sell back some of the clothes you grew out of to the thrift store? Maybe that way you can save a little money since your weight loss is causing you to have to get new clothes so often. What a terrible problem lol! I am too cranky to play your game now but I will think of a good word for tomorrow. Right now it would be Frustrated. Not the vibe for the year I want.
@czvanut. Those are great words! That is what I need to work on
@lenka1 love your word too! Another one I need to work on
@carlsoda love that one too!
I definitely have to make my cranky self wait until the morning to think of my word! Lol!4 -
@cyndiesstuff yes, i love my coworkers, we work well together! Certain times of the year are crazy busy and we don’t get to have much time to hang out & relax, so that’s why we’re being treated to the spa!

I think I gained back from "sneak peek Sunday" for a couple of reasons - one is that I felt a little out of control with not being able to measure my food as much. The other is because of where I am in my cycle.
This is the point where I usually get discouraged. I need to be extra diligent right now to get through the next week.6 -

@sleepymom5 thanks for all your support Pam. Your so sweet and always have something nice to say. Sorry your feeling so cranky and frustrated. Life cycles. You will get through to the other side. You have had a lot going on. And the annoying shoulder pain doesn’t help.
@twyla77 awww thanks for your sweet words as well!
Well team I did it!!! Accomplished my first major January goal of losing 40 pounds. 40.8 to be exact. 19.2 left to go. My second goal for January was to see 159.8 or lower on that scale. It’s still in sight.
And all day and all morning I have been stewing on my word. This morning I thought “I wish it would just come to me”. I opened my eating well magazine. They are merging with cooking light. On the editorial page her first sentence was “this is about transformation!”
That’s it!!! My word for 2019. Transformation
@czvanut ready to see the 150’s this month? Let’s both do it. Hang in there.

Awesome! I do see some people hit the Canada shop in the Bay! I'm an expat living in the US but born and raised in Ontario. We go up once a year and I always look for something Canadian to bring back home.3 -
Morning all!
Yesterday was a decent day. Lots of water, lots of meetings at work, lots of steps, did minimal yoga (watching my shoulder so it continues to heal) and just went 96 calories over. I call that victory!
Today I'm planning to repeat yesterday - and yes I do have more meetings today How does anyone get regular work done when you need to spend 1.5 hours talking??!!
Anyhoo...going to hit it hard today and get lots done!
Have a wonderful day!6 -

16 day string on new plan
Yesterday was another good day in my string of days. We had left overs for dinner and while I was cleaning up the kitchen the ole boy was fixing the stove. one of the burners would only work on high. So kitchen got cleaned and the stove got fixed ( I hope). Was hungry last night, I had a junk food craving. I decided to just go to bed instead. Not a very eventful night in the Cyndie household. and I will play. my word for the year is perseverance. In spite of everything going on in my life, I will persevere.
@Mrsbell8well I am so happy your moving on to the second interview. Now that is some good progress. And has it been 3 months already? wow time sure does fly by. It seems like I just met you a short time ago. Great job on you continued successful journey. Dreams can be so funny. I have crazy dreams most times because of the medicine I take. omgosh!~ another 2 pounds down. I am so proud of you. you have really found your grove! love your word. I think tenacity also fits! you are more than half way to your weight loss goal. how wonderful.
@czvanut yes! love your words. I am a firm believer that you can be happy anywhere in your life. it is you choice. for instance, lets say the dishwasher breaks, you can be sad or happy. its your choice. the dishwasher will still be broken no mater what you chose. you don't have any choice in the dishwasher be broken but you have all the choice in the world how you respond.
@lenka1 consistency is a great word. when you are consistent, the actions you take become habit. and once they become habit, it is easier to be consistent.
@carlsoda Yes joy! good word. it sounds like you have a very busy day. thanks for checking in. it's important in your success!!
@sleepymom5 you take care of yourself. I am glad you are getting the help you need.
@twyla77 I love that picture. you girl have an amazing smile. look how cute you are!! great job. boy you have been being really consistent. you are building up some great momentum.
@czvanut you are not allowed to give up. We won't let you. Weight loss is not easy. It is not for the faint of heart. It takes strength and courage. And if you are feeling low, come here. We have all had that cycle you speak of. but remember, it will always be something. you just carry on and we will be here to support you.4 -

Sorry for the late weigh in. Life is crazy right now and my head is not right right now. I’m not getting the help or support I need in real life and don’t want to come on here and be a downer. I really didn’t want to post this weigh in.

@bmaison2014 There is no need to be embarrassed on this thread. We have ALL been there. Sometimes life just gets in the way. I get it. And we want you to come here and share. We are all in this together. Don't you worry about being a downer. This weight loss journey isn't always smiles and giggles. Just for example, take what I did. I was at goal and in maintenance for one month and gained 10 pounds. It is all part of the learning cycle. If you don't make mistakes you will never learn. So don't beat yourself up, I am taking your stick away. Its not allowed. How can we help?6

PT went well. Sounds like I have a textbook case of shoulder impingement. Basically when I move my left arm, there is impingement(narrowing) of tendons or bursa in the shoulder from bones of the shoulder which cases pain. Good news is that I got in while I can still move everything. Apparently people wait and then PT has to work at getting the motion back. We can work now on strengthening the muscles in my upper back and stretching the muscles in my chest and shoulders. Very happy, I am hoping the xrays don't show anything since this is something that can be fixed. Good day yesterday, had a little issue with cereal later in the day which I ate because I was hungry, tired and cranky with all that is going on with my Mother. I was in the parking lot of Giant and her caregiver called me from the doctor's office. They didn't know they needed to fill out a paper for my Mom to go into assisted living. Not only did I state that when I made the appointment, I spoke to scheduler about the facility faxing the paper over, how my mother would probably not be truthful with her answers and for them to call me if there were any issues. Then I called to be sure they got the paper. No one ever answers, you always have to leave a message, never heard back, did this TWICE left numbers, explained the situation entirely and then the PA who is doing the assessment doesn't know why my Mom is there, doesn't have the paperwork, finally finds it and wants me on the phone, with my Mom in the room to say how she doesn't shower and is incontinent. Lovely. I am still annoyed. I spent so much time trying to avoid that situation. I also would have rather not been in the car and at home. Which I would have been if I knew they were going to include me in the visit. Instead I am going through a car and my Mom's caregivers flip phone. Ugh! Ok, new day, it is over..Lol! Today, exercise, get a little more done in the basement, mammogram and then taking two of my kids to the outlets. I am going to do my hunger exercise from The Becks diet solution book. For some reason, I am having trouble getting through this section so the outlets will be perfect. I know we will be a little late having dinner because you truly aren't in Philly if you don't sit in traffic from 3-7 somewhere...OK...onward and upward! Have a great day everyone. I will be in a better mood when my Mom is settled I promise! Just working on not letting this derail me.

For my word for the year-I am going to piggy back on Mrs B and say Phoenix. Which doesn’t quite fit as it is a noun but I am hoping this year I will rise from the ashes and be better than ever! And by ashes, I mean where I am now lol! I don’t want to spiral downward and start over. Sadly for 2018 I would say my word was regret, I actually watched myself gain 15lbs and just couldn't get back on track. I actually think I may have had to experience that to be where I am mentally now with this whole lifestyle. I do feel like I really get it now. Doesn't mean I don't struggle but I understand this is for life, this isn't something I will every be off of. I will just be tweeking a bit when I get to my goal. (You always make me think Mrs B! Even when I don't want to! xoxo)
@twyla77 You really are stringing along a lot of good days! Give yourself a pat on the back! Hope you are having a relaxing spa day!
@Czanut maintain isn’t bad. Your right, it is important to keep it going and not get discouraged! Your cycle has a lot to do with it too so no worries! You got this!!
@Mrsbell8well. Whoo hoo!!!! Amazing loss! You are an inspiration!
@carlsoda I am a nurse and when I was doing homecare we had so many meetings. It actually took away from the patients. Then when the mandatory meeting was over, it was always something that could have easily been sent in an email. Ugh! Glad you are keeping up with everything with your busy work schedule.
@cyndiesstuff Great job going to bed instead of caving. I guess you are really in a tough spot that you can’t or you’ll undo all you have done. Love your word. I will be happier when my Mom is settled. I want to just go now but the apartment isn’t ready. They actually redo the flooring and paint before new tenants come in. I was impressed.
@phoebe112476. Omg! You are the cutest! I guess you had game night and not movies? Or maybe I have that mixed up which isn’t a surprise You really are an inspiration. You have done so well! You went sailing right by me. I can’t even imagine the 180s. I love to see it CAN be done. Hugs!
@bmaison2014 Don’t feel that way! We are here to support you when you are down and celebrate when you are doing well. Don’t ever feel like you can not share with us. If you are not getting support at home, why don’t you try checking in here daily (or more). It really helps me stay focused. I know you can do this. Why don’t you just make mini goals to get back on track. Hitting your water, logging your food, hitting your step goal anything to start getting you back into a routine. I know you can do this! We are close in weight, maybe we can say goodbye to the 200s once and for all together!

@nstephenson01 OMG! We are going to get snow! I just thought of you when the news was on today. Lol! What shuts us down is probably nothing to you! It will probably end up being rain, seems like when it is predicted it doesn't come and when we get snow, they didn't think it was going to be bad or didn't predict it. Lol! I am not going to lie, we are going to the outlets today because I don't want to wait because of the storms.2

Ok, so a slight gain this week, but not surprising! Translating those CV's means a lot of sitting down. Right now my focus is to try to maintain as much as I can, until I can focus on exercise again.
My deadline is the 25th, so I hope you guys will bear with me until then. I promise to be more active after I'm done with them.5 -
