That’s pretty inconsiderate of the company. You should ask them to sweep the debris off your driveway. There could be nails mixed in with the shingles. The last thing you need is a flat tire.

Pam, I wear Clark shoes but I buy them at the outlet store. There, they average 50-60 dollars a pair. I pretty much just wear their sandals. I get emails from Clark’s and most have sales. You could check the website to see if they carry your size. What size do you wear? I’ll be shopping at the outlet store in Myrtle Beach on my drive home. I could look and see if they carry your size. If they do, you could check to see there’s an outlet store near you.

Helene, I wear size 5 shoes in ladies sizes, and a size 3 in children’s. I shop the outlet stores often, but they almost never have any in my size, except the occasional pair in children’s sizes that I can sometimes wear. I appreciate the offer to shop for me, though! I’m actually pretty well fixed for shoes at the moment. I found two pair of sandals in children’s size 3 when I was at the beach in February with SIL. They should take me through the summer for most activities. I also recently found a pair of casual walking sneakers at the local Skechers outlet and I ordered a pair of Clark’s canvas slip ons that will hopefully work well for me on my NYC trip next month. So I think I’m all set for awhile.

Jean, count me in! Speaking of days of the week, every time I turn around, it’s Friday already. That never happened when I was working. Retirement is great.

I’m off in a few minutes to have the contrast CT scan of my heart to check for any blockages. I won’t have the results until next Wednesday, but I’ll be glad to have this done. I’ve been chugging water since I got up to make the IV easier. I had to take a pill last night at 10:00 and another at 8:00 this morning to slow my heart rate to below 60 beats per minute and can’t eat until after the test, but that’s the only prep required so that’s not too bad. The drug must be working because I checked my BP this morning and my heart rate was at 49 then.

My test went well and the doc had time to see me today so I didn’t have to wait a week for the results. He said my arteries are completely clear with no evidence of any plaque buildup anywhere. I can discontinue several of the supplements I’ve been taking for years (baby aspirin, fish oil, CoQ10, and Red Yeast Rice), and unless a new problem develops I don’t need to see him again. What a relief!

Pam--I do hope the contrast CT scan of your heart goes well.

Regarding the diet cartoon and day of the week, since I didn't bite immediately on the Noon offer, I got an email offering it to me for half price. I'm interested but I'm not in the right mindset yet.

Our weather has been great today. It is sunny and currently 87 degrees. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain and be in the high 50s if the front moves in as predicted.

This has been a good eating day. Perhaps I'll get back in the mood.

I SO need to get in the mood or start anyway even if I'm not.

I have a conference call this morning, then I go to the printer to pick up the spring newsletter and hope to get home before the heavy rain starts. Actually I don't care much about the rain part but DH has become SUCH a worry wart. Sounds just like his mother. LOL!

Mark Twain said if you don’t like New England weather, wait a minute. His house was about 5 miles away from where we lived in CT, yet I never went there. Harriet Beecher Stowe lived next door to Twain. I’ll have to visit the houses someday when I’m in town.

QVC's TSV today is shoes (no clue why I still check - it's been years and years since I bought anything). I had to chuckle and look at the sizes available. Pam's yes. Mine no. LOL!

I got to the printer this morning before it started to rain. We're supposed to get really heavy rain through tomorrow morning. That means when I go to feed tomorrow I'll get to dry out all the bowls. Have to give myself a little extra time.

I'm working on printing out labels. Tomorrow I'll count everything out into boxes. Monday I'll drop at the vets where volunteers will pick them up to assemble.

My baby brother and his wife and I (probably sans DH) are taking our dad to Easter brunch in Gettysburg on Sunday. Very strange menu. Of course I'm partly comparing it to the fairly simple, mostly PA Dutch food I grew up with and there's no resemblance. I did recognize lobster crab mac n cheese. Not exactly diet fare but at least I know what it is. LOL!

I ventured to the city today to use my 30% off Kohs certificate as they were having a sale on things I needed. I also did grocery shopping. Yesterday, it reached a high of 90 but today it was rainy and in the high 60s. Tomorrow, I have to go to Charleston to the airport to pick up someone whose family car is in the garage.

I wrote a post yesterday that disappeared when I submitted it. Yesterday was my last PT session. My leg is about 50% better. If it was earlier in our stay, I’d do a couple more weeks. We have about 2 weeks left and I want to spend time with friends and family instead of spending time in therapy. My therapist was in Italy on vacation so I had one of his colleagues this week. Her approach was a bit different from Dan’s but she made a couple of suggestions that might help me when I work on my own. My shoulder was a 100% success. I’m completely pain free and have better range of motion.

We had torrential showers twice yesterday. I managed to time my errands between showers. The temperature dropped from mid 80s to mid 70s. And the weekend weather will be beautiful.

Well, I fed the colonies, counted out the mailing into boxes for volunteers, opened the CROM mail, got the deposit ready to mail, made meat loaf for dinner/DH meal tomorrow/freezer.

    Can I rest now?????

My cats always managed to puke in the most inconvenient places so this gave me a laugh. We drove 2 hours north to have lunch with a friend. We had planned the lunch a couple of months ago but she got in a serious auto accident. She was hospitalized a few days and had double vision for weeks. Her vision is better but not back to normal yet. We just have the truck in FL and it’s too high for her to step in. Her son drove her to the restaurant and came back later to pick her up. He had a break in his work day so he could spend a little time visiting with us.

The restaurant had a gorgeous ocean view. I had a fabulous crab cake sandwich that must have been 2 inches thick. Yum. DH had shrimp and grits. It was a great day.

    Pam--The puking instruction is hilarious.

Helene--Glad you had a good outing with a view. Oh, it has been so long since I have had crab cakes.

This line of food is excellent; I've had two varieties and both were winners. Reasonable calories (tonight's was 390) and nice portion size.

We stopped at Ollie’s on the way home last night. They had an air fryer on sale and I had a25% coupon. I tried it tonight. I love it.

I posted this on the NS board:

This is a "does anyone happen to know" question.

For years, my "go to" dinner has been a diet meal (NS, JC, LC, whatever) and a huge plate of steamed vegetables.

For the longest time I could get fresh vegetables in a bag to steam in the microwave in lots of varieties: broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli/cauliflower, broccoli/cauliflower/carrots, green beans, wax beans, green beans/carrots, green beans/carrots/wax beans (and probably some I'm forgetting). In other words, it could be different every day.

Gradually the options have dwindled down - in every grocery store in my area - to broccoli and green beans (and the green beans are store brand).

Before I get in my vehicle and spend time driving around looking for other stores (which I've been contemplating), does anyone know if other varieties of steam in bag fresh vegetables like this are still in your stores? (If they don't exist anywhere, it's probably not worth my time to search.)

I've tried googling the one brand I remember but since I never paid much attention to the brand names, there's only that one stuck in my memory banks.

    Thanks!

Someone suggested these Ziploc zip n steam bags which have great reviews on amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UEKBKC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1

One thing our stores DO have is prepped vegetables. Seems like I could buy those and use these bags. One more step but still a LONG way from actually prepping and cooking vegetables.

Helene - sorry about your friend!

Jean - that's hilarious! My new motto - I'm flooded!
