Pam--It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Helene--Sorry that you had the water heater to delay yiour drive,

Maryanne--Congrats upon the 2 pound loss. Weight loss isn't always predictable.

I called Jenny. Let me tell you; NS could take lessons from them on information given, etc. I may give it a try. I told them to hold off and call me when I got home from work. I didn't want to feel rushed as I want to think about it. Right now, they have a program that costs $10 to join for 3 months as a trial program plus cost of food. Then you get $100 back after 28 days. Now, is that completion of goal of days?

Jean - can you completely customize on that offer or is it a pre-selected package?

Maryanne--The answers to that are part of what I want to find in the phone call. If you click on "select menu" it takes you to a week's choice of food based upon your goals or "Chef's Choice."

    and then https://www.jennycraig.com/select-menu

But the fine print at the bottom of the second link takes you to a page that describes the food:

The first week actually doesn't look bad.

Several years ago I missed a golden opportunity to sign up to essentially be an a la carte purchaser. That program had a fairly limited timeframe and I missed it (of course for all I know being on that didn't mean you got to stay on that.) I occasionally read some postings on their bulletin board and I remember reading at one point some discontent with the fact that they'd gone to pre-set menus. That's why I asked.

LOVE the cheese curls and the S'mores bars (I bet I have several dozen S'mores bars here - an ebay find). LOL!

    The lunch kits are handy.

Does Jenny do frozen or shelf stable? Or perhaps it’s a combination of both? That menu list sounded pretty much like NS when you include their frozen selections.

They have both. I've mostly gotten the shelf stable (since I've primarily been buying on ebay).

They used to have a 3-day kit that was a mixture but it's gone.

Well, Jenny didn't call. I was actually considering paying their big price for a 3 month trial but I guess they decided that for me. The carrot was a $100 Visa card at the end of one month and $100 off of the food.

I could put up with $600 a month for 3 months if the food was that good, but I still think that is an excessive amount for Jenny.

That does seem pretty high for 1 month of food. The NS program is about half that, even if you went all frozen. I actually liked most of the frozen NS foods I tried.

Pam--I didn't realize Jenny was that expensive until I started checking it out. I was reading reviews and many said they liked the food but had to quit the program because of the cost. Those who complained about NS being too expensive should check Jenny out. It could be that the cost is helping to subsidize the cost of operating centers in cities where people go to weigh in and purchase their food. There are three in Columbus, Ohio which is the closest to me. When you go to the site, if you don't qualify for a center then you get the home delivery program...and it might be the home delivery is higher than the other. You don't see the costs of the Center program.

I joined this weight loss group on Facebook. The postings are very good but how is this for motivation? He lost his weight with no surgery but with lifestyle changes over a period of 18 months:

All of our cats drank from the faucet. They’d sit on the bathroom vanity waiting for the water to magically turn on. Lucky for us, they never figured out their was a faucet in the kitchen too.

That’s very inspiring l I need to do something to jump start my efforts when I get home. I did a lot of stress eating in the months following DH’s heart attack and then surgery a year later. I took great care of him and not good care of myself. I need to get my motivation back.

Helene--In a post down from that pic, he said he had lost 300 pounds. I would like to have his motivation also. It isn't easy when dealing with stress and family concerns.

I just watched Doug's episode of My-600 lb life and am reading the comments on Previously.tv. Loved this comment:

I love how Doug was like "if Dr. Now knew I was still snacking, he wouldn't be happy with me." "I have to hide my snacking from Dr. Now so he won't find out." THE SCALE TOLD HIM YOU SNACK, MORON. You are not fooling anybody. I swear, some of these folks think they are so clever, but they're like a toddler who says he didn't eat the chocolate when his face and mouth are smeared with it.

I had lunch with a friend at Applebee's yesterday. Boy, the calorie counts on the menu are a real eye opener!

I ended up putting together a meal of house salad, 6 oz top sirloin and steamed broccoli.

    I made two mistakes:

I should have asked for no cheese on the house salad.

I didn't have a packet of dressing with me. (Obviously I'm not totally back "in the groove" again.) But I did use the "dip the fork in the dressing" technique.

Maryanne--Those restaurant menu calorie counts are real eye openers, and then those are estimates.

Pam--Love the "trim." I got one of those once but not that severe. Didn't go back!! There is a reason they keep your chair turned away from the mirror.

Speaking of restaurants, I plan to eat at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday when I go to Columbus. There is nothing low caloried there, even the salads.

I haven’t eaten at The Cheesecake Factory recently, but they used to have a lighter fare menu with quite a few choices between 500-700 calories. Have they discontinued that?

Maryanne, there couldn’t have been that much cheese on your salad! I sure you didn’t do that badly. Your menu is pretty close to what I order at a lot of restaurants, and I calculated it at around 500 calories.

Heard of the Egg Diet? It supposedly is a way to break a plateau, etc. I ran across this when doing some researh on benefits of eggs:

I was scanning the egg diet and thought wow that’s a lot of eggs. Then I read people without gallbladders can’t do it. So that let’s me out.
