Pam--Love it! I see things that need to be done but procrastination has set in. I'm a morning person so when I get home from work, my time to be energetic has passed. I could use all that professional help.

Four year old child calls 911 to report he and six other children had been left in a hot car:

Maryanne--I saw that on another news site. Someone has taught that child right.

I worked today with a possibility of my doing a full week in that class. It was 39 degrees when I went to work.

For contrast, it was 87 degrees in FL last night as we drove to my sister’s house. It took forever to get everything packed and loaded into the truck. The back of my knee was throbbing when I arrived. I have to say I could feel a difference in my knee going up and down stairs so many trips. Before therapy, I would have been in extreme pain after two trips. Instead, I managed without too much discomfort. Driving 2 hours added to the discomfort. I drove the whole way. DH was exhausted and his knee was killing him so I figured he’d earned a break.

We’re driving to Jacksonville today, 5-6 hours. We’ll be at my brother’s house in SC for a long weekend. We want to be home before the crazy Memorial weekend traffic so that’s dictating our driving schedule.

Helene--Stairs have a way of doing a number on knees, plus the driving. Have a safe trip.

DH greeted me with the Grumpy Cat news first thing this morning. I'm surprised that she died from a urinary tract infection.

I heard on the Today Show that Grumpy Cat was born with a form of dwarfism. Maybe something with her anatomy lead to complications with the UTI. She will be missed.

Two or three years ago, a friend got me one of those "Grumpy Cats" stuffed animals. I have had it sitting in my TV room. Each time I look at it I get sad and I also worry about Midnight as he is dealing with something that the prescribed wet food isn't helping. He hates the stuff and won't eat it.

Except that's not a grumpy cat response.

My vet knows any more to jump past the prescription food to the meds. My guys will not eat prescription canned food. They will eat dry though. Prescription Satiety is in the dry food bowls right now. Our Tuffy has the same weight problems I have. Satiety in the dry food bowls and reduced canned food is the best I'm doing for him.

If you don't mind my asking (and feel free not to answer) what is Midnight dealing with.

We sell those. They happened to be in one of the boxes we took to the flea market this weekend and I couldn't bring myself to put them out.

    What next?????????????

5/17/18 - visited urgent care with a broken wrist.

In the year since, surgery on the wrist and months of PT. Then 5 months working with the cardiologist to get my heart issues under control. Then finally got to the dermatologist to have a weird thing removed from my face (it was benign).

5/19/19 - visited urgent care again.

Guess what I have? Shingles! On my face. And here I was thinking bad thoughts about picking up something at the dermatologist. Daggone it anyway. We've been trying so hard to get the Shringrix shots. (Did have the Zoster.)

Maryanne, I’m so sorry about the shingles! I hope they gave you the antiviral meds and they work quickly.

I was hoping I'd be on the same antiviral as our cat Jack which would have made things easy but no such luck. I'm on acyclovir and pred.

They want me to go to the eye doctor. They asked if I had one. Actually, I have two - one for "suspicion of glaucoma" and one for retina. But neither one of them is going to want to see me for this so I assume I'll get the "general" guy. He's something like 83 and still going strong. Good to know you can be productive in later life if you're so inclined. Sort of encouraging to someone like me who isn't really looking forward to retirement.

The big fad around here now is moving to the Carolinas. We have SUCH good medical AND veterinary care here. I can't imagine why anyone would move to the Carolinas (whose health care rankings are low and I don't even want to think about vet care).

Here in Baltimore people talk about the 'Sunday morning church effect'. Basically don't schedule anything (like a cat show or yard sale) for Sunday morning because people will be in church. OTOH it's a great time to grocery shop. (and, it turns out, a great time for DH to get a Shingrix shot).

The reason I wasn't going to go to urgent care until tomorrow was I didn't think the Sunday morning church effect would apply. Didn't think anyone would think "well, I'll go to church, and then to urgent care". Well, fooled me, I was in and out in an hour.

This put a smile on my face:

Billionaire investor and philanthropist Robert F. Smith was giving the commencement speech at Morehouse College in Atlanta on Sunday, when he deviated from his prepared remarks to make an announcement: “My family is going to create a grant to eliminate your student loans!”

(Don't know if you can open the article without a subscription.)

Maryanne--Sorry about the Shingles. I do hope you have a quick recovery. I had them once around the rib area. Very painful!!

Midnight has stool that is verging on diarrhea. They thought perhaps the regular food he was eating or treats might be contributing to it. They had done tests but didn't think an x-ray was necessary.

Sunday can be boring, so this was done in 3 sessions of watching My 600Lb Life.

Interesting. Did they test his B-12 level?

Maryanne--I don't know if they tested the B-12 level. I have an appointment to take him back today. He got me up three times last night but he won't eat this morning and part was his favorite wet food. He is acting listlessly right now.

    I'd ask about B-12 for 2 reasons:

    1. B-12 insufficiency is very common and can cause intestinal issues

    2. It's part of a panel that includes other tests for intestinal issues

    I'd say it's a step before a full-fledged intestinal workup.

Good luck to the both of you!

    I'm off to the ophthalmologist.
