I just got back from seeing my endocrinologist (her PA, actually) and got a good report. My bone density in my right hip has improved by 11% and other areas are also improved.

I stopped at the pharmacy on my way home to get some Coricidin HBP but while there spoke with the pharmacist about what is safe to take and what is not with hypertension. He said as long as there is no diabetes or heart disease and the hypertension is controlled with medication, he was comfortable recommending any of the regular cold medications. He chose a medication for me and said it was also safe for me to use a nasal spray, which is really helpful for me at night. I’m so glad I asked him for assistance!

DH has heart disease so I guess that’s why he can’t use decongestants. In your place, I would feel safe taking the pharmacist’s advice.

To be honest, I haven’t felt like going to the store to buy cold medicine, so I’ve been taking the regular stuff we already had on hand anyway. I have been checking my blood pressure and it was staying in my normal range, so I wasn’t too worried. I figured that breathing was more important than keeping my blood pressure low, lol! It was nice to get the reassurance from the pharmacist, however.

Yeah, breathing is good!! I know in the past when I had a cold I relied on Afrin big time!

Afrin is a trusted companion heart issue or not. I'm also not supposed to use Advil or related products but pain is pain, and I don't use it on a daily basis.

My cardioversion is tentatively scheduled for October 1. We will be going over the details, etc. during my Sept. 26 appointment. In the meantime, the ECG taken at the clinic at the last appointment has posted to the health portal, along with the two taken at the hospital. Needless to say, I have questions so I have a call in to the practice.

Jean, I hope you’re able to get all your questions answered. Will this be a day procedure?

Not much to report here. Still coughing, sneezing and sniffling a lot. I find the coughing really tires me out, while at the same time making it very difficult to sleep.

I've been trying to decide if I can risk some pain meds at least for the cat shows. Maybe I'm being too cautious.

Here's hoping you get the information you need and that the procedure goes perfectly!

Sounds miserable! A friend of mine has been sick for weeks with some kind of "bug". I'm hoping not to get it from her at the next cat show.

DH had a bad cough this summer. With his cardiac condition and a history of pneumonia, the PA was concerned about stopping the cough. It was a pill that he took a couple of times a day. It stopped the cough so he could sleep. It’s called Benzonatate. It made a big difference and he was able to sleep.

Helene--It was good that DH could find a solution to keep him from coughing so he could sleep.

I'm making a note. So far I've been good with Robitussin cough gels and cough drops but you never know!

I've suddenly got two urgent work projects. Spending the weekend working as a result. People are weird these days; everything has to be ASAP!!! Whether it really needs to be or not.

Glad y’all enjoyed them. They all made me laugh.

I’m feeling better today, finally. My coughing and nasal congestion are much better, but I still have no voice at all. DH is enjoying that a little too much, IMO!

Pam - glad you're feeling better but commiserating on the laryngitis. When I taught school I lost my voice at last once a year. I'd have to go to school to "call in sick". The principal always tried to guilt me into working. I told him you need a voice to keep 30+ seventh graders in line. DH liked it though.

We saw the Downton Abbey movie last night. I thought it was very good, though it got fairly bland reviews.

I felt pretty good yesterday but not as good today. Coughing more and my head is more congested. I tried doing without some of the nighttime medication I had been using last night, so that’s probably why. I am more than ready to be done with this and get my voice back. I’ve stored up a lot of stuff I need to get off my chest, lol!

The fall TV seasons starts tonight and Survivor starts Wednesday!!!

The new show I've probably read the most about is bizarrely titled Stumptown, starring Robin from How I Met Your Mother.

Of course I'll have to at least check out Bluff City Law and All Rise!

I hate that we're almost at the end of Criminal Minds. I think a short final season and that's it.
