I think the 142 number still reflected some nervousness. I recently gave blood and my BP was in the 130s. Besides white coat syndrome, the nervousness comes from fearing they’ll insist on giving me a drug I don’ need. DH is struggling with a drug situation now. His cardiologist prescribed a diuretic which gave him horrible dizzy spells. He called and she cut it in half and told him to stay well hydrated. He followed her instructions and the dizzy spells were less frequent. He’s fallen twice on the half dose. The first time he was walking through a parking lot and fell to the ground. He banged his knee but was okay. Tuesday, we went to vote. He got dizzy as we walked into the building. He stopped to let it pass and then crumpled to the ground. He ended up with a sprained wrist that time. He has a call in to the doctor. Whatever is in that medication doesn’t agree with him. So that’s part of my fear of taking a drug l don’t need.

The procedure went well and all is good so far. Helene--Congrats upon the ten pound loss but my doctors would consider 140 still too high for the top number. I don't have the white coat syndrome so my readings at the doctor is close to what I get at home.

Jean, that’s great news that things went well. I was wondering how it went and checked a couple times to see if you’d posted yet. It was a relief to see you checked in today.

Maryanne, those are the numbers my doc wants to see as well.

I’m at the beach and having a wonderful time, so far. Half of the group arrived yesterday and the other half will be arriving in a few hours. The 4 of us stayed in a 1 bedroom condo last night but are moving to a spacious house later today.

Yeah, sometimes they don't take our concerns very seriously. Two people can have completely different responses to a drug which I'm sure is a PITA for the docs but something they have to deal with.

Doctor told DH to stop medication. We go to her office today for his pacemaker check. I don’t think we’ll see her today. He has an appointment with her end of the month.

Good morning. I have the textbook readings of 118/78 and pulse rate of 72. Everything has been in sync since the cardioversion. I go back on Oct, 18 for a checkup I work Monday through Wednesday of next week.

The past 10 days have been a whirlwind. No time to think. Culminating with a full day company meeting yesterday. I'm hoping I can take a day or two to get reorganized. I need to plot everything out to get back on track diet wise. I'm not very good at doing that on the fly.

I went to see Judy last night at the movies. They do flashbacks of Judy’s life as a teen movie star. She was bullied for her weight (which was normal) and basically starved. They got her hooked on uppers so she could work long days and downers so she old sleep. I wondered if there was sexual abuse as well. They didn’t address that but Louis B Meyer seemed like a Harvey Weinstein type personality bullying a young teenager. Zellwagger does an amazing job portraying Judy in her last yer of life. She does her own singing as well. It’s well worth seeing it.

I’m back from my getaway with girlfriends in Rosemary Beach, FL. It’s a lovely little town and area, but very upscale and expensive. It’s part of an area called 30A (the highway that runs through several of these small planned communities). It’s very walkable and bicycles are everywhere. In fact, the “cottage” where we stayed had 4 of them that were available for our use. The cottage we stayed in was a tri-level house with three bedrooms on the first floor, living area, kitchen and dining area on the second, and a bunk room and small den on the top floor. It could easily sleep 10 or more people. There also is a separate carriage house that we did not rent, but I believe it could accommodate an additional 4 people. The beach was an easy 5 minute or less walk away from the house, and the beach was beautiful. The water was blue and the sand was almost like talcum powder. Very fine and white. We were up late every night talking and laughing, telling stories, etc. We ate most of our meals out and everything was delicious, but rather expensive. I came home 4 pounds heavier than when I left, but I’m hoping some of that goes away quickly. I enjoyed my trip immensely, but was glad to get home. I knew I was tired, and went to sleep around 11:00. I woke at 8:45 this morning! I never sleep that long, normally.

Sounds like a wonderful time with your friends. The west coast of FL tends to have the soft, powdery sand. That’s one of the reasons we prefer it. Did anyone use the bikes?

Yes, some of the women rode bikes one morning. We were only a block from the center of town, so I walked to the restaurants, etc. I’m not too fond of bikes, so I was happy to leave them for the others.

There was one weird thing about the house. In the kitchen the microwave was located above the double ovens. It was so high that we had to use a stepladder to use it! Two of the ladies were over 5’8” and even they needed the stepladder to reach it. Definitely unsafe and really inconvenient.

Pam - sounds like a great trip but I agree about the microwave. Wow!

My sister and her husband ride a tandem but I haven't been on a bike for decades.

I got my second shingrix shot today. It had been 60 days and I figured I'd better do it before I have to feed every day (the original caretaker goes back to chemo tomorrow). Just in case I get symptoms. I specifically told DH not to tell me the symptoms - because studies show that people who know the symptoms get the symptoms - and he proceeded to tell me anyway.

Tomorrow will be the 27th anniversary of our Beethoven's death (first cat we ever lost) and the 9th anniversary of our Holly Berry's death. Two black girls. I miss them both! Maryanne

The microwave setup did lead to one of the funniest moments of the entire trip. One of my friends who doesn’t really cook much said she doesn’t even have a microwave in her house. Without missing a beat, one of the other ladies said “Have you looked up high by the ceiling?” We laughed for 5 minutes over that one!

That microwave set up sounds really weird. Maybe the owner is 6 foot 5. DH has been off that medication since Thursday. He hasn’t had a dizzy spell since Friday. That confirms for us that the spells were a drug side effect.

Going out to tea with friends this afternoon. I have no idea what’s on the menu. I’ve been carefully planning and logging my food for the last few weeks. I guess I’ll have to wing it and make up for any overage at dinner tonight.

Today is my birthday. DH offered to take me out for dinner tonight, but I think I’d rather wait a few days. We ate out for almost every meal while I was gone, and I came home 4 pounds heavier than when I left, so I need a few days to try to unload them before I go out to eat again. I know some of that is likely water weight, and I’m already down almost 1.5 pounds, but the rest won’t go away as quickly or easily.

Enjoy! Now that my best friend is retired I imagine we'll get together to eat more often. It occurred to me today as we planned our next outing that I maybe need to think a little more about where we go and what is available to eat. When it was a once every 3 month thing not a big deal.

DH got very sick after the second shingrix shot. I'm thrilled to report I did not. I'm now totally caught up on vaccinations and haven't fainted in a couple years.

    That is too funny!

For decades we kept the ancient stove that was in this house when we moved in (it was gold, if that gives you a clue to age). It had an attached microwave that I used and also I used the top of it for storage. When we finally had to replace the stove, I had to figure out how to keep having a microwave and storage. I found a shelf online that attaches to certain stoves and can hold a microwave. So yes we bought the shelf first and then a stove to fit. Looks something like this:

Late checking in as usual. I've worked the past 3 days which was a very good assignment, but left me tired. I didn't realize how tired I was until I decided to lie down to read and rest. I awakened almost 3 hours later. Needless to say, that ruined my sleep for the night.

Well, something didn't agree with Midnight. I hear him barfing. I need to check it out.

Not much going on today. I started PT for my leg yesterday. In fact, it’s about time to do the at home exercises. I’m approved for six sessions which will work in nicely with heading south. We plan to leave November 18th. The in laws are heading for CA for Thanksgiving so we’ll visit with them before they leave. We’ll celebrate the holiday with my family in SC. As it cools off here, I’m looking forward to some warmer temperatures.
