@GingerPwr nice loss. you are doing awesome. fantastic way to start the month. and good job on being mindful when you eat.
@gottagetthisdown you can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect a different result. try something different. show up for you. I believe in you, you can do this, but it is going to take work and commitment on your part. change is hard but your tough. you will figure this out.

@cyndiesstuff my positive self talk for the day is:
Im proud of how hard I’ve worked over the last year to get rid of unhealthy habits, and know I can work a bit harder on the ones I’m still stuck on.
I have a creative mind and I’m an asset to my team at work.

Had a great 55 minute workout today (split between treadmill and elliptical). Food/calories were a little under today, which is fine since I work off of my weekly average. Tomorrow will be my first official weigh in for the team!4
-
Daily check in for Tuesday
Food - logged & on target (no chips)
Water - 800 ml
Exercise - physio and 7199 steps
Had a very intense physio appointment today with some acupuncture added. The treatments and exercises continue to get more intense as I heal. It always feels so much better the day after, but I am very sore today.
Here is my positive self talk: Physically and mentally, in work and in life, I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone. It gets uncomfortable and sometimes stressful, but this means I am moving forward and not staying stagnant.
@cyndiesstuff - Thanks for your advice about my chips incident. This is an ancient bad habit that dates back to when I was a (skinny) teen. I thought I had kicked it, but not yet apparently. You are right that stress is going to happen and believe me, I am still feeling it. Pre-injury, I would have gone for a run. So yesterday, I had an afternoon green tea in my lovely Japanese tea set and that is going to be my new habit.
@sleepymom5 - I am very sorry about your daughter and I hope that she is feeling better. So good that you were able to look after her and support her. You are a great mom!
@eyesopennow - I really like the stuff that you are giving up for Lent, especially impatience! I have decided to do a daily five minute meditation this year and had a really nice first meditation today. In terms of giving something up, I guess it is chips!2 -
@sleepymom5 how terrifying Pam! My heart goes out to you and your family. Hope you find some answers.
@cyndiesstuff your support and encouragement are so appreciated! You put so much energy into being team captain. You do a great job! Thank you!
@GingerPwr I kept checking my phone to see if you had posted yet. Great job! I’m looking forward to moving down to the 140’s with you!
@Cafelelia I’m glad your treatments are so beneficial.
Ok sorry that’s all I can muster up. I’m pooped.
I really enjoyed all the bra size dialogue. Nice to know I’m not alone.
I got my rewards for the last 3 pounds. Will post pics later.

@cyndiesstuff i have some positive self talk for today!
I’m proud of how hard i’ve worked to break some bad habits over the last year (for years i used to stop for a morning latte or hot chocolate and a bakery item on my way to work every morning, now i make a tea or a coffee when i get to the office and skip the bakery treats all together!)
and
I have a creative mind and i’m an asset to my team at work. My different way of thinking often opens up new ways of doing things!5 -
@eyesopennow I should work on my paitence too. I am not sure where to start.
@sleepymom5 I hope that your daughter is ok.
@cyndiesstuff I think I am starting to practive more positive self talk. Instead of saying to myself you are rubbish and am now saying to myself. This isn't working what do I need to change.
Gotta go and do some work. More later.3 -

That sleepiness at work is really tough. In response to the tiredness, my body sends urges to eat for energy. Then my go to thought process is, it is time to eat. what can i eat. i want to eat. oh that sounds good. i sat with it yesterday. i felt the urge get stronger when i ignored it. i acknowledged it many times and changed my focus. only to have my mind go right back to that old familiar path. it's like when you are first learning to meditate. it is refocusing the mind on something else. it is taming the primal urges that tell your brain there is a squirrel over there lets think about that and then it says to think about something else. i did sit with it yesterday, it was very hard. but i did it and i didn't die or get pregnant! one day soon this habit will be broken and i will not quit on myself any more. as for being up a pound. not worried about it. losing weight is not linear. i am ovulating and hormonal. i have a dental cleaning this morning at 7:30, so i have to get moving but i dont want to. lol. squirrel!!
positive self talk:
I am learning to sit with my urges.
I am a success and I am strong.
@twyla77 i love your self talk girl. and i concur with you. i am proud of all the hard work you have put into this. this is a journey that is not for the faint of heart. it takes a strong fierce woman, to continue to fight for what she believes in. and that is you.
@hkfleming good job on meeting your daily goals. make sure to give yourself big credit for all the things you are doing. credit worthy acts, no matter how small, need to be recognized!!
@Cafelelia love love your your self talk! ohhhh girl. you are learning new ways to deal with stress besides food. what a great redirection of your energy!
@Mrsbell8well i always love kudos from you! i love my team. i am so invested in everyones journey. and you are my motivation today, when faced with challenges today, i will ask myself, what would angelina do. sometimes when i have a hard time visualizing my new self i pick someone i look up to to model after. thanks for sharing your journey with me.
@amsandos ohhhh girl. that is a great positive self talk. i love the way you did that. because you are not rubbish, that is just a lie you have told yourself in the past! you smile today and stand tall and say out loud, i am a success. my tenacity is perfect for any situation.
ok. i have to run. but what is your positive self talk today? pick one lie you tell yourself and turn it into a positive statement and then let me know what it is.

Positive self talk...
I look in the mirror and say “damn, you look great!” I did this even when I weighed 200 pounds. And I always feel it and believe it.
Also...”breathe, your doing great!”
I use it daily for all situations.

Good morning,
I have to travel early tomorrow morning, which is my weigh in day. So to our lovely captains, I am giving you my numbers a day early! It is March break next week and my husband is taking the kids to his parents, so I am going on a girls getaway to Phoenix, the Grand Canyon and San Francisco! I have a travel scale, so will continue with my weigh in. The white wine will be flowing, but I will do my best to stay on track! Have a great week everyone!

Here are my before and after photos so far. This is the “midsection” edition. I am tracking the midsection because after 50, this is where I started to carry the weight. As I said before, I am petite, so 16 lbs gone is a lot on my frame. I am not great with photos and tech, but here it is:

Positive self talk ...
I can do this, I know I can
I have tried a few things lately that I had convinced myself long ago I couldn't do mostly because of balance issues. I have been working on the balance doing water aerobics and it has paid off. The instructor has told me several times my balance has improved 100% but it has taken me a while to believe it.
During Lent I am working on my response to negative talk from someone. I usually respond with anger and attack. I want to take a moment, take a deep breath, and respond in a normal tone.5 -
Good morning everyone!
Wednesday Check In:
Food - good day! Stayed Whole30 except for communion at church last night. Gosh my sip of wine was SOOOO good
Water - great day
Exercise - got in 12,000+ steps again. No yoga due to our long Ash Wednesday service, but I'm planning to do yoga tonight!
I have the Whole30 daily journal and yesterday was supposed to be a super hungry day and boy she was right. But I ate good healthy foods and I need to trust the process. I am healing my body.
I'm not very good at positive self talk, but I'm starting a program on Sunday through my work called Omada. Has anyone heard of it? I'm still trying to understand what it's all about, but it's about changing our thoughts and lifestyle for the long run as well as clean eating. Ultimate goal is reducing our risk of type 2 diabetes. We'll have a personal coach and a small group of like minded people. And 2 -3 hours per week of lessons and quizzes. I'm interested to see how this works out.6 -

My weight is up 0.4 pounds on the scale, but based on calories for the week, I should’ve lost a pound. I did eat over calories one day this week, but was under enough other days to balance it out. I’m pretty sure it’s due to having a cold and retaining water. Immediately after getting the cold, the scale jumped up a couple pounds and stuck there a few days and is now slowly returning to where I was. Hopefully next week will be better!
Positive self-talk: “I am worth the effort!”

I was so tired yesterday I drifted off to sleep when I put my daughter to bed. My husband woke me up to go swim training but I had been tired and grumpy all day so I said to myself. Look I obviously need this sleep so as long as I go for a run in the morning I am not quitting on myself. so I want to bed at 9pm. Then I got up early for my run. It did unleash some demons in me. I got a bit upset becuase I am trying to do so much and failing. Instead of beating myself I have decided to rework my training schedule so that I go to bed earlier. I need to do less weights, swimming and cycling so I can prioritise my running and get to bed by 10 rather than 10:30. I am only going to get tireder as the miles build. I said to my husband that I feel guity because he and the LO are my no 1 priority yet if you look at my day I spend the least amount of waking hours spending time with them. So I am figuring out how to make this work at the moment OH doesn't get any time with me at all and that is just not on.

@Mrsbell8well nice self talk. you are wonder woman!
@Cafelelia wow amazing transformation. I am a shorty too! I've got you beat tho, I am only 5 foot. so your right, 16.6 lbs is a huge loss. you look amazing girl. you keep that up!!
@pacsnc6 love your self improvement strategy. and also your improved balance. wow. that is great. I love water aerobics. such great exercise and the water washes away your sweat!!
@carlsoda I have never heard of omada. but is sounds interesting and healthy for the mind and body. I hope it helps you. good job at sticking to the whole 30 too. that's a tough but very healthy program.
@Shirin_K that's nothing. it's probably just water weight. you just keep up with what your doing. and you are worth it for sure. great self talk.4 -

Weigh in Day - Thursday
Previous weight: 192
Current weight: 188.6
Pounds down - 3.4
* I am logging last Thursday's weight as my Previous Weight, I believe that is what I listed as my starting weight in the initial thread. If that's not right, let me know. I had been holding a lot of water (I think) and had not shown a loss in quite a while, so I think I hit a big whoosh, hence the dramatic drop. My calorie intake doesn't support a 3.5 lb loss in 7 days - just in case anyone saw such a big drop and was concerned for health reasons!6 -
@hkfleming well that is a nice woosh!! and your weights are correct on the spreadsheet. and your right you would have eaten 12250 less calories than your body needed. not likely. but, it is an indicator that you are working and being a success. that is why I don't put a lot of stock in the scale. it can move for so many reasons. to me it is just another tool. that's why this morning I was not worried about the pound gain. I know I have been doing what I need to do to lose weight and I know that I have not eaten to maintenance and ate an extra 3500 calories. but it does tell me how my body reacts to hormone fluctuations. either way. I am dancing all around my office at work. the passers by think I am a little touched in the head. but what they don't know it that you lost 3.4 pounds! keep up the tought work!!4

Yesterday was good. The only thing that I am not happy with is that I over ate dinner.
I totally forgot it was lent when I was planning my dinner so we ordered out. I got a sandwich.
I didn't eat more than the sandwich but I continued to eat even though I was satisfied. Normally that wouldn't have even been enough, I would have had chips or something after too. Weird thing, I was very aware after how stuffed I was for the rest of the night. Otherwise, just plugging along here Lol! I have a few things to do for work and hopefully can put away and not think about until Monday. My daughter is improving a little bit each day. We went up to get her stuff from college as she has spring break next week. I hope the time on break helps her heal to the point she can return. She seems to think so. Today I am going to catch up with all the things that have been on the back burner. It always makes me feel better when I don't have things hanging over my head. I plan to do a walking video today but hoping I can do the bike tomorrow. I haven't done it in a while.
My positive self talk...I am really proud how I didn't turn to eating with all that is going on. That is a huge thing for me.
A little NSV I forgot to tell you all in NYC. Those of you who have been on this team may remember at one point I became aware how much more I eat than other people. I started noticing with all the eating out we do during the summer. In New York, I actually changed what I had planned to eat to one of the specials. I made a decision that I could have it although it had more carbs than I had planned to have. The tradeoff was that I only ate until I was satisfied and that would be all I had. I did do that and actually left almost 3/4 of my dinner on my plate. I ate most of the protein and left most of the rosotto . I was so focused on myself that I didn't notice until the table was being cleared off that I actually ate less than everyone else. That never happens! Lol! Maybe this eating until your are satisfied thing works
I am going to still get a before/after pic. Although I haven't had a lot of progress weight wise lately, I haven't gotten back to my heaviest. I am going to look through and see if I can find one. I hid from the camera as much as I could back then.
@carlsoda Thank you for the kind words. It is so scary and I feel helpless. Good luck with the whole food 30. I know people love it and are so successful. I am sure the first few days are the hardest. The Omanda thing(not sure what to call it) sounds interesting. You are really making great changes for your mind and body!
@kirsten11872 It was very scary, I thought she was about to have a seizure. Thanks for the kind words. I am glad that you are back to stringing good days together.
@GingerPwr Your dinners sound so good! I forgot all about lent when I was planning the week so we had to adjust. Lol! I still can't believe yesterday was Ash Wed.
@gottagetthisdown I think my daughter does the beach body. If it's the same thing she does, she likes it.
@eyesopennow I love how you gave up impatience for lent. That definitely will fit in with the self talk I think. You do have to be positive when your impatience starts rearing it's ugly head right? I love the step idea too. Those double flights can be tough(for me at least!) And diet soda too? You really take your lent seriously! I just gave up those flavored little quaker rice cakes. Lol! Good luck! You are going to do great!
@twyla77 I love your positive self talk! Sounds like you had a great day too!
@hkfleming I never got to really say hi except quick in the beginning. Looks like you are going to be a great addition to our team. I love how active you are already! What an amazing loss too!
@Cafelelia Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it. Sounds like you have been doing great! I am going to PT for my shoulder, not as intense as you I am sure. I was telling him how I could see a big improvement except for when I turn a certain way. Guess what my new exercise it? Totally mimicking the movement that hurts Lol! I should have known...I love your progress photos! Looking good girl!! Have fun on your girls get away!
@Mrsbell8well Thank you. It was very scary. I had to keep scrolling by your salad, now I want one. Wish I lived closer, I would pay you to make a little extra for me! Lol! I also didn't miss that you are almost at 50 lost! I am so excited for you! I also love your positive self talk. I do the breathe on too! Lol! I got to get better with the you look great one. The key is believing it. You have the best attitude! And you do look great xoxo
@amsandos . Thank you . She is the youngest of 5 and we have never had to worry about this type of thing so it is really scary. You aren't failing btw, you need to figure out a workout schedule that works for you. Sometimes you need to listen to your body, sounded like you needed sleep more than a swim. You will figure it out, hang in there. Most of all, don't quit!
@cyndiesstuff Thanks for jumping in I appreciate it. I would have had the additional stress of knowing I was falling behind here. You are the best! I also love how you are really practicing what you preach. You are an inspiration.
@pacsnc6 I love how you can see a difference with your balance with the water aerobics. It is nice to see that something you are doing really is making a change. I also have sort of the same issue with neg talk from other people. My problem is that it continues to bother me even when I know that it isn't true. Maybe I will work on that too!
@Shirin_K That is basically maintaining. There are so many reasons the scale shows a gain. Don't let it derail you, you are doing great and the scale will catch up I promise!
@hope002 Nice loss! Glad that you are back. Cyndie and I have no control over the missing 2 weigh in rule, they take you off without even telling us. Just let us know ahead of time when you go away and it will be excused. I also have you as a Friday weigh in. Do you want Thursday?5 -

Weigh in Day: Thursday

After the sh** show that was February its very gratifying to see a loss this first week. I couldn’t put my finger on what I was doing wrong to gain so much weight and really felt like it had to be water retention. This week I went back to basics… track my food, up my water, pre-plan dinners. I started grading my hunger on a scale of 1 – 3 with 1 being you can live with the feeling, 2 time to eat, and avoid getting to 3. I also scheduled my exercise in my calendar and did it whether I felt like it or not. I’m viewing food as nourishment, not gratification. I returned to an early self talk I used to do when I first began this journey which was “ don’t be a glutton… enjoy and be thankful for this food you are blessed with". The old Nancy would have told herself this loss isn’t going to stick but the new Nancy says good job. Let’s do it again this week.
For this month I'd like to make note of my weekly Fitbit stats:
Total Steps: 85,199
Total Active Minutes: 279
Weekly Exercise: 7 days out of 7
250+ steps per hour: 8 of 8 for all 7 days
Its still snowing each day but only inches, not feet... hope Spring brings better weather soon!!
Amazing transformation @Cafelelia! How fun to see how your hard work is paying off.
@Shirin_K you've been doing so great and I'm trying to follow in your footsteps. I know you'll get right back on track. Colds really through us off.
I'm way behind on reading posts. Wishing everyone a good finish to the week.

Work has been busy and my girls and I have started Zelda playing marathons taking up my extra free time. So I have been reading these posts each and every night but not posting as much. Sorry for the time away. Quick check in.
I have not found any unexpected love for the strength training. I committed to 6 weeks and have one week left. Unless something changes I will not be continuing. I still love yoga and go 2-3 times a week. I find that as I spend less time trying to figure out how to get in the poses (lol) I am getting a better work out. Will have to be sufficient for now. And I do think this is good enough. I am not settling; I am just figuring out what fits well in my life.
I have been losing weight at an average of 1.5 pounds per week for 6 months (excluding February when I took the 2 weeks off deficit). I felt this was too fast and decided to reduce my deficit for the final portion of my weight loss. Hoping for 0.5 to 1 pound a week. I have been mostly maintaining on the scales since that time. This is a change for me and I have been sitting with some anxiety about the scales for a few days. I am recognizing it. Sitting in it. And not changing anything. I know I am still eating on plan and I will lose. I know this is part of the process and does not effect my success. I am finding it a good lesson to learn.
Healthy routines continue. Chai tea with high protein milk for my 160cal per day breakfast. Lunch at work as a Health Choice Power Bowl or Kashi frozen meal (these are higher in protein and fiber and I love them) plus added serving of frozen peas (and this week I added some edamame in the mix in place of peas occasionally - love it!). Dinners are emeals quick and health plan and we love these. I have added two smores Girl Scout cookies to each night snack the last few nights (but I have the calories) and they are so yummy. They smell so good! Yoga M/T/R has been going well. Eating to calorie each day, but enjoying the journey and not feeling deprived.
I need to get some new bras. The chatter on here has motivated me and it is way past time. Hoping to find time this weekend since I am off work for the weekend. Thanks for the reminder ladies. I do love this team. Have a great day!6 -
@nstephenson01 Nice loss! I like your hunger scale, nice and simple to use. I am glad the weather is settling down, I am still waiting for my big snow storm, guess I will have to wait until next season. I am ready for spring now.
@phoebe112476 It is amazing how much progress you have made. I am glad you tried out the strength training. If you didn't, you would always be thinking you should. Doesn't yoga tone as well? I don't do it but just thinking you may be getting what you need with that. Bonus is that you love it too!1 -
@sleepymom5 WTG with your great NSV Pam. You’re doing such a great job developing healthy habits that will be routine come summer despite everything you have going on. I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter. What a scary time for you all. Hoping spring break gives her the rest, peace and recovery she needs. Hugs.
@phoebe112476 I so enjoy your posts and your philosophy on things. Your writing is so fun! I feel we have to do what works for us to be successful and you’re doing just that with great success. Strength training isnt for everyone just like yoga isn’t. This is YOUR journey!!
So tonight is hubby and FIL’s catfish and hushpuppy fry. I’ve prelogged what I plan to eat... I like knowing ahead of time what destruction I’m capable of doing if I stray from my plan. Its all about the plan, isn’t it @cyndiesstuff? Its a southern thing with them... I’m not that big of a fan of catfish so I think I’ll be OK.1 -
Hello & Happy Thursday!
I have continued my streak, I am on day 5! I got home from work yesterday, did my workout, ate a healthy dinner and started my fast at 7:00. Took the leftovers from last night's dinner, for today's lunch - baked shrimp with grape tomatoes, fresh string beans and roasted baby carrots, it was so good I couldn't wait to eat it today. My mom cooks on Wednesday nights, we live in a 2 family house, mom lives on the 2nd floor and my family on the 1st. She cooks on Sunday and Wednesday nights which is nice. She is Italian, so we have pasta and Sunday gravy every Sunday, lol.
I prepped my food again for today and I am hitting the gym after work. I am hoping to see a nice loss on Saturday. I am down 3 pounds so far, I am thinking I may be able to drop another pound or 2 by Saturday. My body reacts fairly quickly when I get back on track.
3/6 Step count: 11,682
I should hit over 20K with my elliptical workout tonight!
@sleepymom5 glad your daughter is feeling better! It takes time.
@nstephenson01 nice loss!
@phoebe112476 great job! I love Chai tea, so good! I get a Chai Tea latte for the Keurig machine, it is delicious and only 60 calories. You do not need to add milk or sugar. It is from Cafe Escapes.
@hkfleming great loss!
Have a great day! It is almost TGIF time again!3
