My husband had tickets to see Wilco last night, so we had a very rare night out in the middle of the week. I budgeted for our meal out and some wine, but still went over by about 100 calories, even with all of my exercise. It was such a fun night, so no regrets! I got my husband up dancing, which was quite the accomplishment! The concert was at the city’s outdoor amphitheatre on the lake. It has been such a mild October here, so it was not cold at all. A colleague gave my husband the tickets because he was observing Yom Kippur. It was a big surprise for me, because the seats were front & centre. I am a bit tired today, but still plan to do some fasting & get in a workout.5 -

Fat grams are way too high. That has been a consistent theme over the past week or so.
I have increased my daily exercise to 30 minutes per day. I plan to eat oatmeal every morning and hope that sets the tone for a healthy food day. My trainer thought that 1.5 miles with hills in 30 minutes was a good pace for me.
I met my friend for dinner and asked for a box as soon as the meal arrived. It was horseradish crusted halibut and I included some mayonnaise in my food journal. There were red potatoes and peppers and onions. I am proud of my new resolve that stopped me from heating my leftovers and devouring them throughout the night. I had one drink, a large glass of club soda with one shot of orange vodka and an orange slice. I need to stop alcohol because it reduces my resolve to eat only healthy. It is always a fight for me.
@lennoncpa how do you make your oatmeal and do you eat the entire amount if you start with 1/2 cup dry oatmeal.

Well yesterday I joined Weight Watchers. I seem to need more guidance and structure so I just joined the digital program. None of the meetings would work for me and I have never been a meeting type person anyway. So far so good and I have changed my meals and food so we will see on Monday when I weigh in how this program works for me. A friend of mine has now lost over 100 pounds over 14 months so I am motivated to also give it a try.6

Sorry Team... I've been totally MIA. Life has been very busy lately... I recall a PNP podcast where Corrine banned the B word but I can't think of another adjective at the moment. Been trying to keep up on posts but haven't had time to comment. Health and wellness has taken a back seat and I'm up 3 pounds. Its funny... at my hair appt yesterday the ladies commented how great I looked. I told hubby maybe this is the weight my body wants to be. But I refuse to be at this weight.
Woke to 4 inches of snow and its a whopping 15 degrees! My dad arrives this afternoon... he's not a fan of snow and I worry about him driving through this storm. Nevertheless it will be wonderful to see him. Hubby called this morning... job in SD is shut down and he's heading home Saturday (waiting out the storm as multiple passes are closed). Super excited that my two favorite guys will be here at the same time but right now I'm just really grumpy. I have to dig out just to get to my dentist appointment this morning. Roads are a mess. Fortunately its a short storm and weather will be better this weekend.
It will be good to have hubby home to help with some chores LOL. I will get back on track soon but tomorrow's weigh in won't be pretty. ) Keep up the good work ladies!!5 -

@barbb1557 - You are doing great!! Alcohol is a tough one for many of us. I love wine, but limit it usually to once per week. Just too many calories & adverse effects to deal with otherwise.

@Barbb1557 I buy the Red Mills Oatmeal and on the package is a recipe for the slow cooker with one cup oatmeal and four cups of water on low in the slow cooker for 7-8 hours or overnight. It makes 4 servings and it reheats really well! Plus it tastes awesome! I had been doing the instant oatmeal until a friend of mine made the real stuff! So now I’m spoiled!! Instant just isn’t the same anymore. Lol4

Exercise: 30 minute session at gym with the trainer and 30 minute walk with a community walking group (this is a weekly group that meets on Wednesday evenings)
Gained .8 pounds this week. Even though I was eating more fruits and vegetables and getting in my water, I still went over my calorie limit for several days. Sometimes 100-200 over. I know that adds up. Need to keep that in check.
I did measure myself over the weekend and was pleased to see I was down 1/2 inch or 1 inch in a couple of places.
I tried on a couple pairs of smaller jeans today and found they fit now. Yay!!😁
I'm going to take my 2 non scale victories and not even think about what the scale says.5 -
I did better today at weighing/measuring my portions. Hopefully that helps. I don’t have much time to comment but just posting helps keep me on track.3

Today is my annual physical. I am down a couple pounds from last year and I think in better shape. We'll see what the doctor says. About three years ago she told me to lose 20 pounds, I'm at 15 and feeling good about that.
I was doing good yesterday with calories until I ate an extra dessert at church supper last night. Couldn't leave the last piece to get trashed! And it was good.
Not sure my step counts for the last few days are correct. I am crocheting a blanket for my grandson's graduation and I think the watch is counting the movements of my hands somehow. I expected the "move" counts to be up but not the steps.3 -
@pacsnc6 - Good luck at your physical today! I am sure it will go very well! An extra dessert here and there is not a plan breaker. We need to enjoy life too! Yes, hand motions do get picked up by fitness trackers. Post a photo fo the blanket when you have a chance! I still have a crochet blanket that my mother made for me when I went to university years ago. It is the best!

Yesterday was the first day that fasting made me cranky. I had richer food and wine the day before, so I wonder if that was why. Otherwise, it was a good day. I am getting into fully Thanksgiving prep mode and I cannot believe how quickly the holiday arrive this year!2 -
For this month’s topic on overeating, today I am posting about the new Canada food guide (no joke). I just had to do a deep dive into it with my 13 year old for his school health project. The Canada food guide has been around forever, and was similar to those in many other countries. It used to be very complicated with charts for servings and long explanations. Also many countries, the number of people with weight/fitness related health issues is increasing, and with a public health care system, the government has to try to address the issue. The new guide is very simple with one main photo (what your plate should look like) and a few short guidance points. Unless a person is doing a specialized diet like Keto, I think that the new guide is bang on. Here is the main photo:
The guidance points are pretty simple:
Eat whole foods.
Eat lean proteins
Eat whole grains
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
Avoid processed foods
Make water your drink of choice
Cook most of your food (eat out less)
Teach your kids/family to cook
Eat at home most of the time
Have meals with family and friends
Learn to read all food labels
That’s it.

Checking in
I learned yesterday that the best time to get in my 30 minute walk is early in the day after my coffee. It's much harder for me to get motivated and moving briskly earlier in the day.
My food was good yesterday, but I need to keep an eye on my fat grams.
I am a little nervous about my appointment today with my orthopedic doctor. I am getting x-rays of my spine and will find out how compromised L4 is.3 -
I was in and out of the doctor's office in less than 45 minutes - must be a record!
My BP is up a couple of points and my A1c is down a couple of points. I asked her what is going on with the BP and she said "you're getting older!" I have been taking one Aleve every morning and she thinks that may be the culprit too. So I guess I need to switch to Tylenol. Just wish it worked for me. My weight is about the same as last year but down 15 from three years ago. I feel good and that is the main thing.4 -

Exercise: quick 20 minutes low intensity workout at home.
Worked until 8:30 this morning, usually get out at 6:30. Didn't get to bed until after 10. Slept maybe 4ish hours. I volunteer on Thursdays evening before work so no time to get to the gym today but a quick 20 minute low intensity workout is better then nothing. Normally when I'm not working with my trainer I will do a 30 to 40 minutes high intensity workout on my own.4
