Feeling great with a wonderful loss this week. My husband is also working hard and is losing each week too. It's great working on this as a team.8 -
Happy Monday! Wasn't the best weekend but wasn't the worst either. After weight dropping down its back up this morning. I often avoid weighing myself on Monday morning but I needed a reality check. Its not enough to want to lost 8 pounds by Thanksgiving... I need to put together a plan and COMMIT to the plan... its the 2nd part I have trouble with. I consumed more sodium than usual so hoping some of the gain is due to water retention. Another snow day and single digit temps on tap for us. I'm not ready for winter LOL. Heading out to my yoga class as I feel its important to keep moving especially in the cold and not just hibernate which is what I really want to do! Stopping by the grocery store for a couple of essentials and hope to be back home before the worst of the storm hits. Oh and we're upgrading a 500 gallon above ground propane tank to a 1000 gallon underground tank. Guess the guys will be having fun working in the snow.
Love both those pics @sleepymom5! Thanks for posting them!!
Welcome to onderland @jedaschultz!
Gotta run. Have a great day everyone!!3 -
I have a doctor's appointment at 2 today. Hooray!
@jedaschultz Awesome! Not only are you in Onderland, you are over a pound into it! I can't welcome you as I am not quite there but hopefully this Friday. I am glad you are doing so well and your husband is too!
@nstephenson01 You really are in the home stretch. We all need to be committed or we are not going to see the results we want. You can do it! You have come so far and are so close! I agree with the moving especially in the weather you are having. I also seem to want to hibernate when it gets cold Lol! Hope you are back home safely from yoga and your errands before the storm is too bad.2 -
Sunday check in
Good day yesterday, and was on track with everything. My younger son is sick today, so I do not have a lot of time to get through posts. I see right above that @jedaschultz is in onederland! Congratulations!! I will try to check in again tonight or tomorrow morning.2 -
@nstephenson01 thanks for the link - those sound awesome. I understand how nuts can have a hold over you - obviously if you've read about my "nutty" struggles! Its funny but its not! I just ran to the grocery store at my lunch break to get bananas and I almost went down the nut aisle! I know better than to shop hungry - I didn't give in but it was a battle of the mind. It's kind of like I have a "good" Sheryl sitting on one of my shoulders that encourages my battle to eat good and on the other shoulder is the "bad" Sheryl that tries to convince me to eat bad foods!! Today the "good" Sheryl won!!1

@sleepymom5
Thanks! I'm trying to work hard on getting in the fruit, veggies and water. Some day it will be less of a struggle.1 -
Monday 10/28 check in
Food: logged and under
Water:32 oz
Exercise: 20 minutes total at home( 2-10 minute sessions) I didn't get to the gym today.
Had to get up early and go to work to get some help with signing up for medical insurance and then stopped at furniture store to change something on my mattress order.
After that I needed to get some more sleep. I'm going into work early tonight. 10 hour shift instead of my normal 8 hour.
Back is feeling ok right now. I go back to the chiropractor tomorrow afternoon.3 -
@sleepymom5
I hope you got some answers at the doctor's appointment.
Sorry about your daughter's anxiety issues. I don't have that so I can't relate either but I work with people who do have some of that.
Since she somewhat knows what can bring it on I hope your daughter can try to avoid those situations if possible.
Hugs!

@lennoncpa
Great job on not giving in! Keep up the good work!0 -
Will be home late afternoon tomorrow and start tracking food on Wednesday. Have been eating good mostly this trip as my Mom and sisters are healthy eaters. Curious to see how the scale will react to this trip. It was a great trip until early this morning when I was sick so today I mostly slept on the drive.2

@nstephenson01
You're right, the commitment part is hard! People seem to do well at the beginning and then kind of fizzle out.
It's like at the gym, people sign up in January and by the end of February it's only the regulars and the newbies who really want to make a change who are still there.
I know it's hard, I have the same struggles. Keep at it! Even(especially)when you don't want to! You can do it!3 -
@jedaschultz
Great job! Keep up the good work!0 -
The doctor thinks the ligament and miniscus in my right knee are inflamed. I need to get it xrayed. She is happy I have been resting and icing it. She want's me to take tylenol as well as ibuprofen. She also wants me to wear a knee brace. She thinks my left knee is just bothering me because it is picking up the slack for the right knee. We will see. I am hoping to get in for the xray tomorrow.
@Cafelelia Hope your son is feeling better soon. You have had a tough start to the colder weather. I hope you and the rest of the family stays well.
@lennoncpa I am glad the good Cheryl won against the nuts today! Keep up the good work!
@tryingagain5 Looks like another good day! I don't know how you do it with the night shifts. Hope you had a good night. Thanks for the kind words about my daughter. It has been a long haul with her.
@pacsnc6 I am glad the trip went well. Was your brother expecting you all to be there or was it a surprise. Hope you are feeling better, that isn't a good way to end the trip. I am happy to hear it was good otherwise.3 -
Monday Weigh In still due
@amsandos
Tuesday Weigh In

@Barbb1557
@GingerPwr
@tryingagain50 -
I just finished reading 48 posts. Geez it’s easy to fall behind. @Cafelelia congrats on breaking that plateau. @amytriesww great loss this week! @jedaschultz onderland! You did it great job!!!
@sleepymom5 have you tried acupuncture?3 -
@Zumba_Luvah you are on a roll!!! Isn’t this your lowest weight in quite awhile? You have had a great month.
@nstephenson01 I understand your struggles. It’s crazy that we can’t always follow through with our plans and goals. But I know you can do it. Keep feeding yourself nutritious healthy foods and doing your yoga etc. we can do this.
We had a really fun weekend with friends. Took the old folks with us. Spent one day thrift shopping. I adore ivory clothes. Bought Talbots beautiful ivory slacks with tags brand new $99 for $3.99 😁. Other nice things too.
Thursday morning woke with a small spider bite on my arm. Each day getting worse. Had to go to doctors yesterday for steroid cream. Turned into a massive softball size red angry mess. October has just been crazy for me. First week kidney stone second week had to get ears irrigated (2 weeks I couldn’t hear), and now spidey bite. I have actually had a brown recluse bite before. Not fun.
So it was a bit of a challenge with food this weekend. Finding vegan friendly restaurants that had token food that wasn’t very good. I woke up early Saturday and made a nutritious plum apple crisp to take with us. Saturday night we bought vegan vanilla ice cream and all 6 of us ate it in our hotel room. After everyone left I ate 2 more servings. It was so good but I think I felt food sorry for myself and indulged in something safe. But I rarely overeat like that.
I’m up early today. Work is very stressful right now. One of my employees just got promoted. Another maybe quitting or terminated. I’m now down 3 and after this week maybe 4. I have work quotas I have to maintain. Even though I was out sick 1 day and on vacation...my numbers have to stay the same. Sigh...looking forward to retirement.
Ran 3 miles on Sunday but having a tough time getting back into routine.
I need to do a weigh in this morning too Nancy for a “reality” check.
Counting down to November. I hope I survive October.3 -
I was much better with food yesterday. Need to work on more regular exercise. I think November might be a yoga month.5
-
Happy Tuesday everyone. I’m struggling with the constant hunger that I just can’t seem to satisfy. Yesterday I ate strictly healthy foods, just more of it than normal. And I made up a crockpot full of oatmeal last night so I will have it available for me me today and tomorrow. I’m trying to eat filling food that isn’t crazy high in calories.4
-
@sleepymom5 wishing you luck with the knees. I’ve had 3 knee surgeries over the years. The arthroscopic type so they just go in and clean it up for me then I’m good as new! Hope you don’t need surgery but it is nice to know there are options!2

Monday 10/28 check in
Food: logged and over
Water:72 oz
Exercise: 20 minute walk and 5040 steps
Actually did well until dinner. We ended up going to the bar for dinner before I dropped off Will at the airport. The problem I think is I was starving when I got there so I ate more than I should have. The dinner wasn't the problem it was the appetizers. This isn't the first time and won't be the last time that we will be going to the bar unexpectedly. I am going to have to make a plan for those occasions. I am not going to beat myself up. I am really feeling so much better then I did last week so I am not going to have this send me back. Today will be a good day. I can tell
It's never too early to head to the November thread and introduce yourself

@mrsbell8well Sorry to hear about the spider bite and I am glad that you got treatment right away. You have had a tough October! I am glad that you had such a nice weekend otherwise. It must have been beautiful too. It seems like the leaves are really pretty this year. At least by me. And no, I have never tried acupuncture. The way things are going that may be down the line. Good luck with your busy week at work. Hugs my friend.
@GingerPwr In my opinion, for what it is worth(lol), you seem to kick butt with those monthly challenges. Maybe you should start one of those. The yoga sounds great too. I need to either find a yoga routine or some stretching routine myself.
@lennoncpa The oatmeal has worked in the past for you. This week I have been super hungry. I am actually hungry too, I made sure. I don't know if it is because I just ate so bad last week my body wants it again? Who knows but it is a pain. I think it is great that you have a plan with the oatmeal to satisfy it. It is also nice for you to tell me about your knee surgeries, I can't believe you ever had any problems with all the dancing you do! That makes me feel so much better. I just have been down in the dumps about it. Thanks for sharing.

In keeping with our mindful eating theme heres some mindless eating. This chart is focused on eating off our children's plates but the idea behind it is why I posted it. I was listening to a podcast yesterday that was talking about how little bites add up. We don't think that crust of pizza, a few bites from a cupcake or a few bites of mac and cheese are going to make a difference. Surprisingly when you add the calories up, they can either add pounds or stall our losses. I used to eat off my kid's plates. I wouldn't have mac and cheese or fries with my meal, I would have veggies or a salad. However, when I would clean up, I would eat the few bites that was left on their plates. I don't have this problem anymore because they are grown now-Lol! I do have the problem of thinking I can have little bites though. When cooking, samples at the grocery store, just a few of the hubs chips...Let's start making a conscious effort to be mindful of everything we put in our mouths.

@gingerpwr I will definitely join you in the November yoga challenge! @sleepymom5 I completely agree with you that our desire for foods is fed by our intake of those foods. One not so good week makes it really hard to get back in the groove. I am finding that now myself. I am planning to do really well today and skip dinner to help me make my goal tomorrow. I can usually do that with out too much of a problem but I haven't had to do that since I hit goal. Now I can feel my resistance. I already told Molly no dinner for me. I am going to get my fall/winter wardrobe organized tonight to help distract me. I was feeling bad about my weight this morning and then realized I am still within 5 pounds of my goal. It's not where I want to be but geez that is still such a glorious weight from where I used to be. But we all know how fast we gain it back and I refuse to let that happen. I am looking forward to posting a lower weight tomorrow. brought my running clothes to run after work and will also do yoga when I get home.3

Daily Check In: Monday
Food: pre-logged, ate as planned except for an extra small snack in the afternoon
Water: OK but could be better
Exercise & steps: 90 minute yoga class, short dog walk; 7,574 steps
Made it home from my yoga class before the storm hit. We didn't get a lot of snow but it was windy. 5 degrees this morning and roads are covered with ice but fortunately I don't have to be anywhere. Scale was very kind this morning... now I just have to keep doing the right things. First time in a few weeks doing IF again and sitting here counting the minutes I can have breakfast. LOL Began a jigsaw puzzle this weekend... it keeps my hands and mind busy. Not snacking is a challenge when the weather is bad and I'm cooped up inside. May do a Leslie Sansone video today.
@sleepymom5 One of my biggest challenges is keeping to plan when I let myself get overly hungry. You're right... don't beat yourself. Move on. I'm building healthy snacks into my day to hopefully stave off cravings and hunger. Hope your knee feels better soon.
@mrsbell8well I have been so impressed and inspired by your ability to navigate adversity throughout your journey but it seems this October has been your greatest challenge. Bring on November!
@lennoncpa Yay the "good" Sheryl won! One day at a time!!
@tryingagain5 thanks for your supportive words. We can do this together (even when we don't want to!)2 -
Saw this on the Facebook site "Quitting the Sitting". It stated "Finland released new guidelines on physical activity that recognize the importance of light activities (like housework) and sleep. Their activity pyramid is superb!"

Feeling better today, I got a good night of sleep and didn't doze off in the truck today. Got some reading done instead. Called Mom to let her know we made it home and one of my sisters has a fever today, not feeling well, and Mom has a sore throat. I wonder of one of the three little kids were sick. And hope everyone feels better soon.
Here's a picture of the family, yes we all were aware who was coming! We had a stand in for the one who was not there.

Monday check in
Food - logged & on track (rushed meals though).
Exercise - had to cancel trainer because of sick child
Water - 1.5l
It has been a busy few days. I have not been able to do IF as I have had to go to all of these hockey practices scheduled at the supper hour, so I have to eat later at home (am at a hockey arena now!). Will see if it makes a difference at my weekly weigh in. I am off to the tournament on Thursday, but will continue to check in. My younger son is better now. I am loving my new Apple Watch & the challenge of closing my three rings everyday. I am getting about 8300 steps a day which are pain free. This is more than I expected and I was at half those steps this time last year when I was first injured. I cannot wait to get to 10k.
I am still catching up on posts and sorry for not responding to everyone.
As noted by Pam, our team November thread is up and we will switch over to that thread officially on Sunday. Feel free to go over an introduce yourself. I will be doing that shortly.
@pacsnc6 - What a lovely family photo! Thanks for sharing with us! Hope that you don’t catch whatever was going around.
@nstephenson01 - So sorry that you are experiencing bad weather. I totally understand the temptation to snack in the bad weather. I love that Finnish “Quit the sitting graphic!”
@sleepymom5 - Sorry about your knee, but at least you understand what is going on. Keep us posted on how you are doing. That graphic on cleaning your kid’s plates is spot on! Omg, I have been there with every single food item on there. I broke that habit about 2 years ago, although am still tempted from time to time, particularly with pancakes.

Tuesday 10/29 check in
Food: logged and on track
Water: 32 oz
Exercise: quick 10 minutes at home
Slept about 4 hours then got up to go to my haircut appointment and then to the chiropractor.
He showed me the xrays and apparently I am out of alignment. He doesn't push care on the patient. He let's the person decide what they want to do. He said we could do what would in effect be a band aid or we could do a treatment plan. I decided to go with the plan. 3 times per week for 3 weeks, then 2 times per week for weeks, and I forgot how he said it would work after that. But after the 12 weeks he will take xrays again and see how things look, then will go from there.
I'm going to take a nap before work. 😴4 hours of sleep isn't quite enough.😉Hope everyone has a great night!
