@tryingagain5 Hope you had a good night
@cyndiesstuff Wow! That is a lot of snow! We were supposed to get some but looks like just the mountains will. They have the reporters up in the Poconos running around looking for snowflakes Lol! You are doing great. I actually used to hate drinking water and now I get plenty in. The only time I have trouble is when I am out for the day or traveling because of the bathroom issue. This month I have been working on getting into a routine with stretching, strength training and doing my PT. I actually have an app called Habitshare which is helpful for me. I like checking things off Lol!
@Mrsbell8well Sounds like a great day! I love how you always find great deals at the thrift shop.3 -
Monday Check In
Food - Logged & under
Water - 1.8 l
Exercise - 10k steps (painfree, hurray!)
Like @cyndiestuff, we got a ton of snow, about 15 cm. The newspapers are saying it is the most snow this early in November in 70 years! It looks crazy because most of the leaves are still on the trees due to our warm October. I had to drive in peak storm to get my son to hockey after school. They rarely cancel hockey & it has to be about triple the snow the we got for them to do that. We are all shoveled out and now that I don’t have anywhere to drive, I can enjoy the pretty views!
I think that the new habit that I need to form is gaining more confidence with my leg and (slowly) trynew exercises with it. With having the injury almost a year and experiencing a reinjury, I have a lot of fear about what exercises I do. I have been trying different yoga poses and was able to do the pigeon pose recently, which would have been impossible 6 months ago. I need to keep this up, no matter how tiny the improvements are.
@Mrsbell8well - I love clothes & shopping for them. I have been very restraintful this fall because my sizes have been changing. When you have time, please post some of your outfits & the pretty colours! Also, love the retirement countdown!
@cyndiestuff - You go! That is the way to do it, with the incremental changes! I was not really good with water & it took me a long time to form the habits to increase my intake. Like @sleepymom5, I only cut back now when I know I will be driving for long stretches.
@sleepymom5 - Great day yesterday and hope that PT goes well this morning!
@ljdanny - Great food prep! Your post reminded me that I need to get my flu shot, I am going to book that today.
@jedaschultz - Amazing loss, congratulations! Online WW is so convenient and hope that it continues to go well!

A Four minute Four Circle goal setting tool
Adapted from Steve Chandler's book "100 ways to motivate yourself"
The Four Circle Method is a game changer if you suffer with the thought "I have so much weight to lose and it will TAKE FOREVER."
This is a great tool that helps you plan what you will do today to get you to that far away goal. You see, most of us are just disconnected from the smaller version of ourselves. We can't believe that the little things we do today MATTER. We think things like, "This bite won't hurt" or "I’m done… weighing 150lbs will take forever so give me a cookie."
The Four Circles basically trains your brain to believe how important today's tiny steps are. Yep...drinking the water matters versus our usual thought of drinking the water isn't enough.
Instruction: Start by drawing four circles on a piece of paper (see example below). The circles represent one year, one month, one week, and today. Inside each circle write down what you want. It can be anything. Start with the one year circle first.
The top left circle is the one year goal.
The top right breaks that goal down into a smaller piece, a monthly goal.
The bottom left is an even smaller piece, a weekly goal.
The bottom right is EVERYTHING you are going to do today that will help you reach your goal.
Without looking at our goals on a daily basis, we tend to lose sight of them and get caught up in reacting to people and circumstances, forgetting about our one year goal. If you hit your daily goal every day, your weekly goal is automatically hit. If your weekly goal every week is reached, the monthly goal has to happen If you hit your monthly goal every month, your yearly goal will be achieved.
Ultimately, success is dependent upon just one of the circles: the circle labeled "today". When you realize the irrefutable mathematical truth contained in this system, you have just proved on paper that your day and your life are the same thing. There is no future other than the future you are working on today. Your future is not stranded out there somewhere in space.
Now tell your team and share your goals. Every day matters. What will you do today?
4 -
Ok Team!! What are you doing today to make your week a success. just for today, make a commitment to our team.
today i will
walk 7k steps
drink 50 oz water
eat when hungry and stop when satisfied
tell myself 5 times i am a success
and this evening when i get snacky, i will journal about it instead of eating it.

Hello and happy Tuesday everyone. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Boy did we get hammered. Nothing like easing us into the winter mentality! My poor little foster dog Jimmy is having a hard time with this. He is from Texas. Not that a Michigan chihuahua would like it any better!!
I’ve still got the non stop hunger going on. I really don’t think it’s my exercise or dancing because I’ve done pretty much the same routine for many years. But I think I will load up on vegetables and try eating a huge salad for dinner!! The problem is, I need to shrink my stomach and I’m not sure if that will help or hurt the situation. Plus I seem to be craving carbs!! The bad kind of carbs!5 -
This is my birthday present. I love that it counts me down by the hour. Chug a lugging twinie!5 -
@Cafelelia I will post my new clothes and colors today or tomorrow. I love new clothes too. I’m building a “capsule wardrobe” using a skirt I bought on my birthday. Yes I got it from thrift store and love it.
My inspiration. Trying for a 33 piece wardrobe.3 -
This one is for you @mrsbell8well. My new 1 litre plastic bottle. Love it! Kids broke my glass one! Btw, I love capsule wardrobes!

sleepymom5 wrote: »@CassieGetsFit2013 You can do it Cassie! Starting back is always hard. You will get back into the swing of things. I am sorry to hear about your grandfather. I hope his injury isn't too serious. Is he close enough for you to visit him?
So far I tried counting my calories for the last 2 days, this will be my 3rd. The last 2 days weren't total failures, but I did go over my limit. On day 3 and starting off good, let's see if ai can finish strong. Still on my period AND I'm sick now...My Grandfather isn't far ao I can visit him, was going to yesterday, but the day got way too busy so some family saw him, some didn't get to. Now I'm sick and don't want to bring the germs around him. His ankle popped out of socket when he fell and he has two fractures in his foot, and a kidney infection. Ither than those things I think he is okay, but not sure how long they will want to keep him, he's been really weak latwly, my Grandmother says. He just hasn't been himself thia past year and it's really sad. I miss him.6 -
Daily Check In: Monday
Food: Ate as planned during the day but ate too much at dinner
Water: OK, lost track; somewhere between 60 & 70 oz
Exercise & Steps: 30 minute dog walk, 90 minute yoga class; 9037 steps
Saw a nice small loss on the scale but blew it last night by eating too much. I made beef stroganoff for dinner, the ultimate comfort food. I would like to get to the point where I can enjoy a small serving of one of my favorite, comfort type meals, realize when I am satisfied and be fine with that but I'm not there yet... some day. I like to make a large amount of vegetables to fill my plate but I guess I forgot how much my husband eats! I had to serve him most of the carrots I had roasted. You'd think he was a growing boy, not a middle aged man with a beer belly LOL!!
@mrsbell8well Really good tips! I always enjoy when you reflect on your journey and have time to recap it for us.
@ljdanny I'm a long time GH fan too.
@sleepymom5 I've spent 2 winters in Pennsylvania and they were terrible... don't discount your winters LOL. I'll take a Montana winter over PA's wind and ice!! Brrrrrr
@cafelelia & @cyndiesstuff Wow, you got a lot of snow! Shoveling burns tons of calories LOL. Stay safe!!
@lennoncpa I crave carbs when the weather is bad and cold. Poor Jimmy!! He must be wondering what happened LOL
We've only had little bits of snow so far but our temperatures are way below normal. I'm not ready for winter yet.
3 -
this one is empty now, I am working on my second bottle. each bottle contains 25 ounces.1 -
@Cafelelia is that your turquoise fridge? I love it! Have you followed Courtney the originator of the 333? And I also follow Vivienne files for inspiration.
@cyndiesstuff hah loved your water bottle that is funny. I am almost done with my 64 ounces. First time in weeks that I have gotten all my water in. thanks for the motivation.0 -
@CassieGetsFit2013 I feel you, I was 20 lbs less last December. I am so aggravated! I am really trying to get back on track! We can do it!3
-
Hello all! I am posting this from my work PC, so it should not disappear, lol! I had a loss on Saturday, I was happy with my weigh-in! I am up since the weekend, yesterday was not good, but I am back on track today. I am determined to get this weight off!
I packed my breakfast and got soup for lunch. It is very cold here today, the temps dropped drastically since this morning. They are talking about snow, I am not in the mood! I do not know if the puppy is going to like being out in the cold.
@CassieGetsFit2013 so sorry about your grandfather, hope he feels better soon!
@Mrsbell8well maintenance is hard! A lot of people have a hard time with maintenance, including me! You are so dedicated, you will figure it out if you haven't already! Thanks for sharing your list of maintenance tips!
@jedaschultz I do WW. I am a lifretime member, I go to meetings every Saturday. The plan changed as of yesterday. The Freestyle plan is Blue, I am doing Green, that is what the plan was before freestyle and I liked it. I am going to see how I do after a few weeks and if I am not happy, I will change to Blue or Purple.
I think I am going to the gym to do the elliptical after work or I will do my workout DVD, but I am planning to exercise.
Have a wonderful evening!3 -
I have to tell all you ladies who really got snow. You would crack up about the news coverage of the flurries we had today. They are chasing the snow flakes around, interviewing people...Then I think of all of you with significant snow. You probably wouldn't have even noticed the flurries out here Lol! I do have to say it is freezing out. I was happy Charlie cut our walk short today.
@Cafelelia I can see why you would be nervous, especially after the re injury. I have heard about that pigeon pose-that is a tough one! It must be nice to see how far you have come. If that picture of your water bottle is in your kitchen, you have to post what the rest of your kitchen looks like! Just the small area you showed looks so cool and unique!
@Cyndiesstuff Thanks for posting. We discussed the four circles and goal setting a month or so ago but that graphic and explanation are so helpful.
@lennoncpa Tell Jimmy is is cold in Texas too Lol! My son lives in Houston and said it was 43 degrees today. Not as cold as by you but cold for Texas. The large volume, low calorie suggestion @mrsbell8well is worth a try. If you end up eating junk, you will end up expanding your stomach and going over on calories. At least this way you will be good on the calorie part. How about drinking? Have you been getting your water in? Hang in there. It is frustrating! You will figure it out. xo
@Mrsbell8well I like your water bottle. What a good idea with the times marked off.
@phoebe112476 You really have got this down girl! I love your attitude. You are absolutely right, if you are doing everything you should be, nothing to be worried about!
@CassieGetsFit2013 You are right, they weren't failures. You are doing a more than you had been so that is good. Keep it going and you will start getting it into your calorie range. You have to get back into a good routine again. I am sorry about your grandfather. I hope he is out of the hospital soon and recovers quickly. It is so hard getting old. Smart idea not to go while you are sick. Hugs to you and your grandpop!
@nstephenson01 I want to get to the point that I can eat the meals I enjoy and stop when satisfied too. I think while we are figuring it out, we have to just stick to portion control. Any big projects on the horizon while your husband is home?
@kirsten11872 It's cold here too. I left to go out around 8 and you could feel the temp just drop as the day went on. Soup sounds like the perfect lunch. No worries about yesterday, sounds like you are back on track today so that is what matters!3 -
@sleepymom5
For my treat meal I used to just have the salad and cake but not the soup. I hadn't thought about eating less of it. I may have to try that or the "earn your reward" from @Mrsbell8well 's list.
@Cafelelia
I hadn't planned on eating anything at book club that night. If I don't start, then I don't have an issue. Once I start is where my problem comes in, especially with chocolate. I can't eat just one piece.
@Mrsbell8well
I really like your list, especially the one about earning your treat. I need to use that!3 -
Monday 11/11 check in
Food: logged but over
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: none
My day was off yesterday. Took a long time to get the snow and ice off my car after work. Went to the chiropractor at 2pm and then gave blood at a blood drive at 4. Food was over because of the blood drive. They want you to have food before you give and then want you to eat salty and sugary foods after. Then I went home and napped before work.
Tuesday 11/12 check in
Food: logged and on track
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes with my trainer
We got more snow last night so I had to scrape my car off again but at least the roads were a little better this morning but they're talking about more snow coming
I heard on the news that the average temperature in West Michigan is supposed to be around 50 degrees right now. It was about 18 when I got out of work and maybe 25 for our high today. The town I live in didn't get a lot of snow, maybe 3 inches but a town closer to Lake Michigan got about 15 inches in the last 24 hours. (they definitely got the lake effect snow)
I'm about 30 minutes away from the lake.4 -
Tuesday 11/12 check in
Food: logged and under
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: PT and hopefully 6K before I go to bed
Good day today. Only thing I could improve was to exercise. I did have a great session at PT. He is doing a lot more hands on things than just me doing the exercises. I am hoping that helps move things along. The day did not go as planned, I ended up running errands and not getting home till later in the afternoon. I am actually going to get to bed early today. I am exhausted for some reason. I really have to catch up with cleaning. Tomorrow is my MK day so I really won't get too much accomplished tomorrow either. I plan to workout before I go and walk Charlie. Hopefully when I get home I can get a little cleaning done at least. Hope everyone is staying warm!
@tryingagain5 It is a good idea to try earning your treat. You have to figure out what you will really do. I would ultimately like to eat what I would like but I have to learn to stop when I am satisfied. It is a learning process. Stay warm in the snow my friend.5 -

You're right, it is hard to stop when satisfied, especially if what you're eating tastes really good. Something I definitely need to work on.
I've already thought about what I need to do to earn my treat. I have another book club I attend that is meeting next Tuesday. This book has about 500 pages and I'm only on page 50. I sure have a long way to go. It is good, I've just been napping before work instead of reading.
I'm also not very good about cleaning. I live alone and with working 3rd shift, most of the time I'm too tired to care about it.
I really need to get started on that so the way I'm going to earn my treat this weekend is to clean up my 1/2 bathroom, kitchen and dining area and read as much as I can before book club.
Now that I've written this down, I'm going to have to do it.
It is cold here. Driving in to work they said it's going to be only 10 or 11 degrees tomorrow morning. Brrr!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday Ladies! xo (I think It should say no one will EVER replace you but the message is nice right?! )6 -
@Cafelelia this oversized taupe sweater was one of my purchases. It’s not in my new capsule colors but I love how teddy bear warm and snuggly it is.2 -
Tuesday Check In
Food - at goal
Water- 50 oz
Exercise - 40 minute walk
Steps- 7173 steps
Yes!! I got my water in yesterday. Lets do it again today @Mrsbell8well !! I have been in so much pain lately. I just want it to stop. But I carry on. Nother day.4 -
daily check in:Tuesday
Water over 64 oz
Food-on track
exercise-40 minutes at gym with a 30 minute run at a faster pace than usual.
Yoga-20 minutes
I didn't get to eat dinner till about 7:30pm. Did my workouts after work. had leftover cauliflower soup and a huge beet salad with bitter greens and radicchio topped with espresso balsamic vinegar. I also had some raw walnuts and a few pieces of vegan cheese thrown in my salad.
Thanks everyone for all the nice comments about my top 20 tips. Those tips were how I lost the weight. I hope someday to post my top 20 on how to keep the weight off. I am getting there.
We have a big birthday bash and company this weekend. I am already planning and thinking about how to navigate that. We plan to eat a huge lunch and I may eat super light for dinner or skip dinner depending on how I feel. There will be wine, pasta and I am making that awesome raspberry cake I made a few months back. I am targeting 142.6 by Saturday morning. Then only one more pound to be under my original goal by Thanksgiving. I am so close and extra determined. I had on black panties and a black camisole this morning when I was getting dressed. looking in the mirror I thought "geez my body looks better than it did in my 20's". I love being so lean and toned.

@cyndiesstuff sorry your in pain. I am with you on the water. first bottle already done!0

Hello and Happy Wednesday everybody! It's pretty cold outside here and poor little Jimmy is not dealing with it well. Yesterday I couldn't get him to poop and he was stinking up my office! I just walked him in circles in my parking lot (the only place that didn't have snow!) to get his system going and them I found a pile of leaves that I dug out of the snow for him and finally yesterday afternoon he went in the leaves! @sleepymom5 I can't believe its that cold in Texas too! Very strange weather!
So yesterday I started thinking about what I have changed in my life recently that might be causing the hunger - and the only thing I can think of is that I am eating more oatmeal than I normally do. You don't think that could cause me to be hungry - do you?4 -
@kirsten11872 I am doing the Purple plan. I'll give it two weeks and then reassess. It may be too much freedom with the carbs. We will soon see. Right now I need to get back to going to the gym. We have taken off two days because it's been so cold, at least that is the excuse we have been using.2
