Working from home day #1: I have to go into the office this afternoon 🤣🤣
It might be the last chance to go in for a while though, we are expecting NZ to lock down with tighter restrictions in the next few days. So I'm going to go get everything I might need and transfer it to my home office. Luckily I worked from home for years so it's not a big deal for me, although I haven't often worked out of the office with this job. I generally prefer to annoy people in person lol.6 -
The Week 3 Step Challenge Winners are:
1. @Timibotkin - 70,587 steps
2. @hope002 - 66,616 steps
3. @Gingerpwr - 61977 steps
Congratulations!!
Together we walked 484,132 steps this week!
At the end of week 4, we will also post the winners for the month & our grand total of steps. Remember to post your steps Sunday to Saturday!6 -
@sleepymom5
Hope you and Jim will feel better soon.
@Cafelelia
Hope you and your boys will do ok with homeschool this week.
I purchased 1G extra data but have almost blown through that already. Apparently watching videos takes a lot more data than just surfing the web. I think I may have to change my plan to unlimited for a couple of months.3 -
Sunday 3/23
Food: good
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minute fitness on demand video
I woke up at 2:15 this morning and then couldn't get back to sleep so I decided that would be a good time to pray for the everything going on in the world.
I got up shortly after 3, did a load of laundry and did the workout video while that was going. It was really hard and I had to modify the exercises but I did it. I think it was an advanced workout, even though it didn't say it was.
I listened to my church's service online. It's really strange not being with everyone.
After lunch, I napped for the afternoon since I'm going to work tonight.
It seems videos take more data than doing other things online. Yesterday I bought 1G extra data but it seems I've gone through most of that already.🙁 I still have 16 days in the billing cycle and not much data left. I've been toying with the idea of changing my plan to unlimited data for a couple of months to stay connected. It will cost me more but I want to be able to still do the fitness on demand videos. Just found out the gym now has to stay closed until the middle of April. The governor changed the mandate and added other non-essential businesses to it. I have a few questions about the unlimited plan so I'm planning on going to the phone store tomorrow for some help.5 -
Check-In: Friday (last)
CW: Exactly the same
I'm hoping everyone is well & keeping calm if they can help it. I have not been able to catch up, sorry - but I think of you all regularly!
I think while it's good to keep up to date, over watching the news causes me unnecessary anxiety so I'm trying to avoid it when I don't need it. I've got a normal bad flu at the moment, so I'm not worried about weight loss etc at the moment.
Actually, I've decided to maintain my weight for now. Even though I'm 8 Kg /17.6lbs over weight, I think I need it as buffer as stress melts it away - so now I view my little bit of fat as my funny little treasure stash - interesting how perspective changes like looking into a different mirror! I'd like to loose maybe 2 Kg / but it'll happen naturally, I want to gradually use it building up muscle strength.
May I please be put on the bench for now? I just want to focus building up muscle once I recover.
Take really good care of yourselves & keep smiling, there's so much we can enjoy, relax with & keep busy with despite the stresses surrounding us all. Hang in there!
Virtual Hugs To All!!7 -
So New Zealand is going into lockdown for at least 4 weeks, full country on self-isolation, everything shut apart from essential services. All schools now closed, so all 4 of my kids are home. Our Covid 19 cases have jumped to 102 total. 36 in the past day.
Our CEO for work has called a (virtual) meeting for 8am tomorrow, I am nervous at the effect on the company. I can work from home but this has such a drastic effect on our global business, I don't know how we will weather it.
So here's a picture of my completely relaxed cat, Drax, to encourage happy thoughts.

Sunday 3/23
Food: still not feeling well
Water: Way over n64 oz
Exercise: 25 minute stationary bike, PT and stretching
Feeling better but not back to normal yet. I am sure my calories were under. I did try to exercise. I just did an easy 25 min on the bike. I was going to do 15 but was watching a show and didn't realize how long I was on. Hope tomorrow I am back to normal. Jim is still not feeling well but hopefully he will turn the corner soon. I will check back in tomorrow.
@GingerPwr I am glad you had a couple of days of fun but it is good that you are back on the wagon and have a good plan for the week.
@Cafelelia Looks like you are set up for a good week with the boys between school and extra activities. It is nice that you can help a small business out at the same time.
@CassieGetsFit2013 Nice loss for this week and the month! Next weeks weigh in will count toward the first week of April.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Are you going to still be able to get to the office this afternoon. They are still saying ours is 15 days which I think we are on day 7. I have a feeling that will change. Hopefully you have your supplies ready for at home or have time to get them. What a cute cat!
I tell you these pets have the life!
@tryingagain5 That data does go quickly for some reason. I think it is a good idea to do the unlimited while this is going on. I hope you have a good night and can get to the phone store tomorrow.
@rosieposiesri Hope you feel better soon. Soundly like you have changed your goals for now. Would you like to go to the cheer squad and still check in or would you prefer to leave the challenge? Hopefully you stay with us.

@sleepymom5 It's 5pm here now, I've been into the office, got most of the stuff I need and realised that I might need to go back. We've been given 48 hours at Level 3 alert before we move to level 4 (complete lockdown) which means that we can still move around if it's essential, and some shops are still open for 2 days.
We have plenty of supplies, food etc and are well prepared for isolation. We can apparently still go for walks etc, just keep at least 2 meters from anyone else we aren't in isolation with.
I hope you start feeling better soon.6 -
Steps & daily check in
Sunday: 8594 tracked. My watch died on me about 5pm so sadness of missing hours and steps. Remembering to charge it is such a small thing right now.
Monday (today): 10191.
Both days tracked and calories good. Exercise yesterday was a half hour in the gym and then a half hour walk on the beach later in the day. This morning with working from home I got a sleep in (yay!) and got up at 6 instead of 5.30 😂 Did 40 mins on the elliptical with 20 on the bike, and later on when I went into work about 6 round trips from inside work out to the car lugging heavy equipment, up and down 2 flights of stairs... sure felt like a workout to me! And I'm also pretty sure that inside work now looks like it's been robbed with the amount of stuff we all had to take home to sustain at least 4 weeks in isolation.
I am going to have to brace the shops tomorrow - the worst thing is that from Thursday only supermarkets and pharmacies will be open, and that really limits what we can buy for 4 weeks. Supermarkets here are not like supermarkets overseas. They don't wander off into the realm of department store. It's food and basic household essentials. And I realised today that Easter is during the lockdown, so I had better go get Easter stuff for my kids tomorrow or they'll be stuck with a crappy supermarket egg. I prefer to buy them PJs and non food items, with a chocolate bunny each. The country went mad today and I really don't want to go out into that! But needs must.
Hope you all have a good day.

Hi all,
Weigh in day
username - podperson1
Week - 4
Previous Weight - 192.4
Current Weight - 191.2
Will take that. Would have liked a bit more but not exactly been 'on plan'.
@timibotkin - sorry your biopsy was a bit of an ordeal, hope the results go ok. I've seen a few people mentioning doing up the house/garden while they're at home. I guess maybe that's your extra customers?
@1theresamcvean - lovely photos of your mum. I have seen such great stories lately about nursing home staff going the extra mile for their patients who are currently unable to have visitors etc and they really don't get the recognition they deserve
@nstephenson01 - your pups are just adorable
@KUMEcyclingteam - your photo just cracked me up! Sounds like your mum is in very good hands - hope she recovers soon x
@Mrsbell8well - your food photos always look so yummy! Hope you're feeling a little better today. It is just so stressful and the uncertainty is def a cause of anxiety. We can only do our own little bit and sounds like you're helping out all you can x
@sleepymom5 - hope you and the hubby are both feeling a bit better today x
Congrats to our weight loss and step challenge winners - very impressive
Been a quiet weekend. Went for a walk yesterday just to get out of the house - it did seem like everyone had the same idea though. The normal paths/parks etc which are pretty quiet were full of people. Some keeping to social distancing rules better than others
Work are apparently sorting me a laptop out so I might be able to start working from home later in the week. Not sure how it's going to work yet as unfortunately it's a very 'paper-based' office but even if I can cut my days in the office down then it's probably a good thing.
Since a lot of people are sharing pics of their fur babies, these are my two (don't think they're too stressed out by everything lol)

Hi everyone,
Taking a break from homeschooling to check in. My sons start with a virtual trainer today for dry land hockey training. My younger son had his first session this morning, and it was great. I was worried about how to keep them active and fit, so this is a wonderful solution and he is giving us a great bulk price as well. Yesterday went well. I followed my food plan, drank 2 l of water and worked out on the indoor cycle for 42 minutes. We are not in a complete lock down yet here, but I think that will be coming this week. I asked my mom today for coping strategies as she is from a generation that faced a lot of deprivation and adversity. She told me that we cannot control the circumstances, so we have to control what we can which is ourselves. She said that we have to keep going, even in tough times, and stay determined.
@jedashultz - Nice loss! It is cold & gloomy here too today. Maybe put on some music to help you getting those indoor steps!
@podperson1 - Great loss! Your fur babies are adorable! Working from home is an adjustment, but it gets easier over time.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - You are doing great and you must be really pleased to have that home gym set up! How are your kids doing? The supermarkets are no fun right now and working from home takes some time to get used to. I know that the business and economic worries are very concerning, and I find that part of things so stressful. Fantastic idea about preparing for Easter now. I am going to get on that and thanks for the tip! Your fur baby is adorable!
@sleepymom5 - Sorry that you and Jim are still under the weather. Lot’s of rest and fluids! Take care!
@tryingagain5 - Praying is a nice thing to do when you can’t sleep and thank you for your prayers. I think that getting unlimited data for a few months is the way to go, as you can keep your fitness up and stay connected with everyone.
@Cassiegetsfit2013 - That’s a great loss and you should be proud! Keep it going and take care of yourself!

In the March challenge, today is Motivation Monday and we are posting about gratitude or acts of kindness. Here is my post
My priorities and focus have completely changed through this month. While I have felt a good deal of stress and anxiety, I have also shifted my world view to feeling incredibly grateful for everything that I have. I have also tried in whatever ways that I can to be more kind and supportive to everyone. I am very grateful for my boys. Their love, positivity and reslience inspire me more than anything.

Daily Check In: Sunday
Food: 16 hr IF
Water: not as good as I can be. Focusing on more water today
Exercise & Steps: 20 mins on the Bowflex, 30 min dog walk; 13,588 steps
Spent Sunday running some errands for my neighbor and grocery shopped for her and us.
Some items are well stocked but other shelves are bare... paper products, soap, flour, etc are nowhere to be found. Its a challenge to shop for one much less two households but I was able to get her everything on her list by shopping at two different grocery stores. I hadn't really considered the limiting of products such as milk, etc. and I had to buy her milk at one store and my milk at another. Hopefully she is set for a while. With the snow melting, the bus service is able to get to her house and take her to her physical therapy appointments. Its some measure of independence for her I suppose.
Hubby got home safely yesterday afternoon. Crazy man did the drive in 2 days... its takes me 3! My anxiety seem to have lessened somewhat with him being home. Also limiting how much news I watch.
Managed over 10,000 steps the last two days and it feels great!! Trying to refocus on my eating and exercise as I can't control much else these days.
@tryingagain5 Thanks!! And I think an unlimited plan is a good idea to stay connected during this time. It would be nice if the phone companies offered some sort of discount but that's probably hoping for too much.
@podperson1 Your fur babies are adorable! I'm trying to be more like my dogs by living in the moment and worrying less
@cafelelia Your sons are so cute... but don't tell them I said that LOL Good luck with the home schooling. I'll weigh myself on Thursday and provide it to you.
@sleepymom5 Hope you and Jim feel better soon!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Good luck with the total lockdown. I wonder if we're headed in the same direction... Your cat looks quite relaxed!
Sending everyone a virtual hug!!2 -
I am just checking in quick. I am feeling better but still not back to normal. Jim is still pretty sick. Hopefully he turns the corner soon. Don't worry, I am a nurse and I don't think he has more than influenza. He has a bad case but no signs that are concerning. No fever. He does have a cough that seemed worse last night and this am but has settled down with the humidifier. I forced him to get out of bed this morning for a bit. I am going to do that again this afternoon. If I was concerned I would run his symptoms by the doctor.
I am trying to get my CPR up to date so doing the online course so I can sign up to help. I have a friend who gives the practical so I can just run over and do the test when I am ready.
I will check in later. Hope all is doing ok.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Sounds like you are as prepared as you can be. Good luck with finishing up getting everything ready. Hugs!
@podperson1 Nice loss! I love the cat pics! They are so cute! Hope you are able to get some of your work done from home. Hugs!
@jedaschultz Nice loss! Especially with all that is going on. Hope you are hanging in there with all that is going on.
@Cafelelia I love your motivation Monday post! I love that picture of you handsome boys!
@nstephenson01 I am so happy your husband is home safely! I can't believe he made it in 2 days. I can understand that he probably wanted to get home before any lockdowns began. Your neighbor is lucky to have you. It is so awesome in times like these to see people like you reaching out and helping others. Your neighbor is going through such a hard time with her husband and then all this starts happening. You are probably the one of the only people she can count on in her life right now. That being said, I am glad you are still taking care of yourself too. Hopefully with having the hubs home, things will get a little better and you can get into a little quarantine routine.

Just a quick check in.
Weigh in isn't till Wednesday but I'm getting really frustrated with not being able to break this plateau. Y'all think light thoughts for the next 2 days!!! Lol.
Sunday steps 10,243
Way behind on steps today so I'm going to have to do some extra cardio or something.
@sleepymom5 glad you're on the mend and I hope your husband gets better too!4 -
Motivation Monday
Now more than ever, practicing kindness and gratitude can help us and others through this time. Post a photo or describe what you are thankful for or an act of kindness in your life (whether you gave or received that kindness).
I am thankful for my family. Although we aren't all together at this time at least we can stay in touch and are healthy. Well, except for Jim but he will be soon.

Monday 3/23
Food: good
Water: 56 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes low intensity bodyweight
Everyone at work last night was wondering if we would go back tonight. Well, after I got up and turned on the news...Michigan is now on a stay at home order for the next 3 weeks.
I've already made myself a general schedule for doing things so I don't sit around and do nothing. Figure it will be a good time to clean/organize closets, cupboards, drawers, etc since I have nowhere to go.3 -
@sleepymom5
@Cafelelia
@nstephenson01
I think I read my remaining data wrong. I still have a little of my original amount left and the 1G I purchased will be used next. Not sure what I'm going to do now. I may just wait on the unlimited for now and purchase another 1G when this one runs out. I would have gotten 2 but my choices were either 1 or change my plan. Lots to think about.1 -
@Cafelelia
You're right, praying when you can't sleep is a good thing to do. You're welcome and thanks for yours as well.1 -
@nstephenson01
Glad your husband made it home.
That's a good thought on the phone companies doing extra for people but probably not.0 -
@sleepymom5
Hugs to you and Jim. Hope you both get better soon!0 -
Monday 3/23
Food: not logged, under I am sure
Water: over 64 oz
Exercise: none
Today seemed to go by so quickly. I got Jim out of bed twice for a little over 30 min. The last time I tried to get him to eat with no luck, just a few bites. I also made him take a shower. He told me I was "brutal". While he was in the shower I changed his sheets and wiped down the room. He has been getting fluids in so I am not too worried about the food intake. I actually wanted him to take advil but it is not good to give on an empty stomach so it is back to tylenol.
We found out today that our county is one of the counties in Pennsylvania under a stay at home order for 2 weeks. I knew it was coming. I actually thought it would have started earlier. I was expecting it last week. I will have to go to the store again at some point but we are well stocked.
I got 1/2 way through my CPR online course. I was doing it when the news about the Stay at home order came down. Of course, I already knew everything they were talking about. I don't know what I am expecting them to say. I think I want answers to things they don't have answers to yet. I still haven't volunteered yet either. I want Jim to turn the corner before I sign up for anything.
@GingerPwr I love when your southern accent comes through lol! Thinking light thoughts for you!
@tryingagain5 We just got the same news today but they didn't do all of Pennsylvania. My county is one that got the stay at home order started tonight at 8. We were told two weeks but I am guessing that it is going to extend. I was hoping your work would take up some of the manufacturing of the medical equipment that is needed.3 -

From what I understand Michigan has a lot of cases now. Last I heard it was over 1,000 but I'm sure it's higher now. I'm making sure not to watch the news too much. I'm not surprised it happened, especially with Ohio and Illinois doing it earlier.
I'm surprised that PA only doing it by county and not the whole state. That's interesting and only 2 weeks instead of 3.
No, my work hasn't said anything about changing to help manufacture the medical items. I think one of GM plants or possibly Ford, can't remember which, has changed to help with it.
I understand about you not wanting to volunteer until Jim is better. I also understand about wanting answers that nobody can give. I was watching the President's briefing earlier and the reporters were asking questions that really don't have answers.2 -
Motivation Monday
I have been accidentally signed up to do Simon Says and other interactive games for 4 to 8-year-olds on Zoom. All I was trying to do was answer a technical question and whoosh I'm about to be the Mrs. Rogers of our neighbourhood in Toronto. I'll be starring on Wed and Fri afternoons at 2:30. LOL.
Who knows, when we finally get to go outside, I could have a fan club.
On another note, my international student Wendy is so so sad. She had booked a flight to go home to Vietnam and it was canceled. The only safe place to transfer flights was Taipei and they aren't allowing anyone foreign, and neither is Vietnam. All the quarantine centres are full and they are very nervous with their own sudden increase in cases. Her face was swollen from crying but we get along and I've told her we can think of fun things to do. I'm going to teach her to make a cake. Her college courses went online today for the next couple of weeks, so that will be a good distraction.
I'm thinking of you all. Stay safe and stay well.
@tryingagain5 Many Canadian wireless companies have waived data overages, long-distance charges, and roaming fees to help people dealing with COVID-19. I hope they do the same in Michigan so that you don't have to change your plan. I love all your feedback to the group...and your dog pics.
@sleepymom5 I'm so sorry to hear about Jim's flu. It sounds really bad and he must be very reassured with your nursing background. I hope he recovers soon.
@Cafelelia I'm sorry to hear about your mom trying to stay independent. I've heard a lot about this age group in the news too. Feisty bunch. There was an article in the Globe and Mail about seniors resisting social distancing. Makes for a strange dynamic in families. Where does your mom live? BTW, those hair touch up kits my salon is selling are $75! I picked up two Schwarzkopf colouring kits (full-sized) at Dollarama for $4 each and am rationing them out for my roots. I'm 90% grey.
@ljdanny I'd love to see your magenta hair. What a fun, bold colour. Can't wait for salons to open again. I saw a funny meme about what kids are going to look like when their parents resort to cutting their hair. Rather than trying to trim my own fringe, I'm going to try barrettes.
@KUMEcyclingteam I still cannot stop laughing and admiring that picture of you with your damsel in distress. I highly doubt a mother who could raise you is a damsel in distress at all. LOL.
@nstephenson01 I'm glad your husband made it home. I was thinking about his trip when everything was happening so fast. Gauge and Willow are beauties.
@podperson1 Your cats are beautiful. Like you, I went for a long walk on Sunday and it was like a slalom course keeping my 2 metres away from everyone on the path at the park.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx I got my Easter gifts too, but am not sure I'll be seeing my family. I'll show the treats to them on Facetime...hopefully not me eating their chocolate bunnies. I was lucky enough to get some marshmallow Peeps. If I give in to my urges, they'd be a lighter choice. LOL. Stay strong in your lockdown. Your cat is very relaxing to see relaxing.
@kirsten11872 I've been worried about you since the number of cases in your area shot up so fast and seem to be more serious than in other areas. Stay safe and healthy.
@lennoncpa Your grand-puppy is so cute. I can't even imagine how small he is. I was listening to our public radio today, CBC, and they were talking about accountants receiving paperwork from their clients and how to handle social distancing. It's best to have them put it down and stay two metres apart and wait up to 24 hours before picking up the paperwork from where they placed it. Hand-offs only until we're clear of all this.
@GingerPwr Sending light thoughts your way.

Pardon my French, but eff Covid 19. Today has not been a good day. I may be made redundant but won't know for a few weeks. At the very least I'm looking at a 20% pay cut, which is also the same for hubby.
No chance of getting another job in the current situation.
I keep getting overwhelming urges to binge eat, go for a run (which my body can't handle with my nerve problems), cry, or hide under a big blanket and pretend the world doesn't exist.
On the plus side my calories and water are fine, I recognise the compulsive thoughts, and I avoided the tray of cookies that my daughter baked because that would have been a disaster if I ate one. It wouldn't have been just the one, that's for sure.
Please share fur-baby photos and all manner of positive things, because the world is on fire and this sucks.3
