Sunny is so adorable!0 -
@GingerPwr
It was really hard. I do have to rest a little as I go but that's ok. I'm not a runner so I wouldn't be able to do that.
I don't think it matters what we do as long as the exercise is something we enjoy. If it's not enjoyable, then it just becomes a chore.
Keep up the good work!2 -
Patsy (I'll kick myself if I have your name wrong)...You sound in good spirits considering what you're going through in the midst of this. Hats off to you!! Where do you live and how are things in your area hospitals while you attend your treatment? I have heard that some wards in the hospitals here are less busy. Big hug.
@1theresamcvean Thanks for the encouraging words
I'm in Durham North Carolina doing all my medical stuff at Duke. Since we are local it saves having to travel and all those expenses! Duke has restricted visitors and some elective surgeries. I worked at Duke many years ago and have NEVER seen the place so empty of people. We were asked before entering the parking deck yesterday what was the reason for being there. They were turning visitors away.
I told myself once I absorbed the diagnosis that it wouldn't get me down. With two teenage grandchildren I have lots to live for and I stay busy with volunteer activities several times a week (before the virus shut everything down!). And I really feel good - even the discomfort that prompted me to see the doctor is mostly gone. They tell me I am very healthy. So the prognosis is very good, it will just be a tough few months. Besides I have surprised the doctors several times in my life and will keep doing that.

Good morning everyone,
I had a sore throat yesterday and felt a bit under the weather. I went to bed earlier and slept later, and it is gone today. I normally would not have given something like that a second thought, but in these times, I was worried. Homeschooling went well today. The school board just sent an email that they will be releasing a plan after April 6th. I hope that it includes actual lessons for the kids. My older son is 13 and has some assignments, so he has been able to work on his own. My younger son is 9, so he needs more “teaching”. We work in short segments on math, writing and reading. It adds up to only an hour or so, but it keeps his brain active and gives the day a bit of structure. Life has moved online now with family & friends, piano lessons, my workouts and hockey workouts. I am having a drink tonight with one of my friends via FaceTime!
@pacsnc6 - That is excellent that your prognosis is very good and that you feel really good! I love your positive attitude and keep up that record of surprising your doctors!
@tryingagain5 - Amazing loss, congratulations! I was tired just reading that work out! Lucy is adorable!
@Freeglerock - Nice maintain! Being home with the kids is challenging and it is tough to get work done. The virtual piano lessons went better than expected, same with the virtual workouts for the kids. We are definitely going to keep it going for them. I just read in the UK news that working on allotments is permissible in your lock down because there is a natural distance between plots. So am hoping that you are still able to do that as it would be a nice way to get out and also have some fresh veggies.
@amsandos - Nice loss! It could very well be that you don’t have the temptations at work and that contributed. Sounds like a new routine is emerging and it is great that you are keeping the kids active.
@sleepymom5 - Great day all things considered! Hope that both you and Jim feel better today!
@GingerPwr - Sorry that your boobs messed up your workout tracking! Great that you completed a run though! Nice meal, looks yummy!
@KUMEcyclingteam - Yummy pie! Glad to see that you are cooking, and that you got out the spin bike. I challenge you to sit on it today and spin for 10 minutes!
@lennoncpa - Your grandpuppy is so cute!3 -
Did my second day of workouts. I was up early so I could file for unemployment because everyone has set times to apply and I think everyone had the same idea. The system kept crashing. I started at 630 took an hour to exercise finally finished the process at 1030. I was ready to say screw it but I can't do that. So everything else I planned for my day I now dont feel like doing but that's ok I guess, I have plenty of days off to get it done. I always say if I won the lottery I would quit my job but I think I would get bored quick.4

Some comic relief for today. Here is a montage of Italian mayors yelling at their citizens to observe the quarantine. It is really funny. Warning that there is some cussing, but it is in Italian. I cannot imagine the mayor of Toronto doing this, but then again, maybe he should!

Daily check in: Tuesday
Food: 16:8 IF
Water: Good
Exercise & steps: 30 minute dog walk; 11,870 steps
Yesterday was our 19th wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything but I did make corned beef and cabbage since we didn't celebrate St. Patty's day. Weight shot up this morning but I think/hope its due to the sodium. My neighbor called to ask if I could open her garage door (doesn't everyone have automatic garage door openers??) She had a hair appt and wanted to try to drive herself. Good grief... isn't she watching the news? Anyway, she made it to town and back safely.
@sleepymom5 That's pretty scary... hope Jim turns the corner soon. Thank goodness he has you looking after him.
@cafelelia glad you feel better. Yeah, there are lots of things that give us pause these days.
@tryingagain5 That workout is insane!!

@nstephenson01
Happy Anniversary a little late! It doesn't matter if you did anything or not, just nice that you are together.
Yes, it is! I do it because it's challenging. Since I can't go to gym and get "beat up" by my trainer. I have to find other forms of "torture" for myself.🤣
I've done a few of the fitness on demand videos also. The ones I've tried have to be advanced even though they don't say so. I had to modify a lot of the exercises.
Next time I might try one that actually says beginner on it to see if it's actually easier or not.😁3 -
@Cafelelia
Thanks!
That was a tiring workout but it actually only took about 20 or 21 minutes going 1 time through.1 -
Just checking in quick. I feel ok but just tired. I want to try to get a little exercise or at least some steps in. Hope you are doing well.
@amsandos Nice loss. It is challenging to get into a new routine although temporary. It is good you are still staying in contact with people via all the apps that are out there. I hear people are still going out by me too. I don't understand it. Glad you checked in with us
@Freeglerock I am glad that you made some goals and have something to work towards. This is going to be our new norm for a bit so we need to get into a good routine with everything, including our health.
@tryingagain5 Very nice loss this week! Keep up the good work! I am going to share that workout with my daughter. She is always looking for something new to try. Thank you for sharing.
@pacsnc6 I loved reading what you wrote to Theresa. You sound like you have a great attitude and that you are in very good hands. Hugs!
@Cafelelia It sounds like with all your planning, you have fallen into a good routine. Glad you are feeling better today. That video is awesome! I am sure they are all beyond frustrated at this point.
@ljdanny. I never thought of that but I guess the system would be very stressed right now with all the people applying for it. Good job getting your workouts in. And lets not give up on the lottery, you wouldn't be stuck at home if you won right Lol!
@nstephenson01 Happy Anniversary! I am sure just being together was a great anniversary gift this year. I am sure that weight is from the corned beef. I haven't had that in a while. I am glad your neighbor is back. The older people don't listen either lol!4 -
I am an accountant and my sister is my business partner.
We have two offices and the other office is run by my sister and she is working only from home. She has several health issues, the major causes being the result of obesity. She is in her 70’s and has been obese since the 1980’s. She even had gastric bypass surgery many years ago and it worked temporarily, but she has figured out how much and when she can eat and has gained back all of the weight and much more. She has such bad knees that it is very painful for her to walk, and no doctor will do knee surgery on her. I’m very worried about her - as I always feel. But I’m more worried with the current situation. Her husband is basically ignoring all warnings about staying home and he goes shopping every day. He says that he is healthy and doesn’t have to be concerned. His sons have all tried to explain that he could unknowingly bring the virus home, but it does no good. He makes his own rules. It’s very frustrating and I’ve tried to encourage my sister to make him stay away, but she loves him and I understand she doesn’t want to be alone.
Sorry to dump on you guys but I’m very frustrated by anyone who doesn’t take this situation seriously. Especially my brother-in-law.7 -
@tryingagain5 that is a very intense workout! I’ve still been doing YouTube video workouts and I don’t think any of them are as tough as yours!! I try to keep my workouts low impact since I had hip replacement surgery, but I’m sure I could modify where necessary. Thanks for coming up with that routine!1
-
@lennoncpa
I hope your brother in law will stay home to protect your sister. You're right, just because he feels healthy doesn't mean he couldn't bring it home to her. I hope he doesn't.
I'm not thrilled with having to stay home and not go to work or to my social activities but I'm going to do it to protect others.2 -
@lennoncpa
Yes, that was a tough workout. I'm not going to do it every day. I understand you wanting to keep low impact exercise because of the hip replacement.
I do some modifications with this workout. For example, I can't do 60 jumping jacks all at once, I've been able to do 30, then rest, then finish the other 30 and sometimes less and then keep going.
You're welcome but I didn't come up with it. I would credit the person who did but I found it online a long time ago and don't remember what website I found it on.2 -
@sleepymom5
Thanks! Not sure how I had such a nice loss this week but it was nice. I'm going to keep doing my best. It's going to look different since I'm now home all the time.
I hope your daughter enjoys the workout I shared.1 -
Wednesday 3/25
Food: over
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minute fitness on demand video, 15 minute low intensity bodyweight exercise, 40 minute walk
I was very unproductive today. The only things I accomplished were my workouts and a load of laundry.
I read my book for book club that is supposed to be April 7th but with Michigan on shelter in place that isn't going to happen but I'm reading it anyway.
I took a nap, watched the Facebook livestream video my Pastor did and spent a couple hours outside with my neighbors and their dogs. We practiced social distancing along with everyone else who was at the park. There is a soccer field, baseball fields and walking trail near the condo complex. It just takes us a couple of minutes to walk over.
Tomorrow I plan to be more productive.4 -
Day 2 of cleanse going well. Did not want to walk tonight. Came home from work and Molly said let’s go! So we did. Glad I went.
@Cafelelia loved the Italians!3 -
Wednesday 3/25
Food: logged and under
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: Nothing
Sorry, I just have been dragging the last few days. Hope everyone is doing well.
@lennoncpa How frustrating! I hope he starts to understand what a risk he is putting your sister at. I can see why you would be upset. Hugs!
@tryingagain5 It sounded like you had a pretty productive day to me! Hope you are getting on a good sleep schedule too.

I do my weights workout 3 times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday - haven't skipped any since I came back from vacation.
Tuesday and Thursday are my cardio days - haven't been consistent with this....
I still do IF 18-20 hours fasting every day. But I eat more than I used to, so the weight loss stopped.
I try to go for a walk in the park every day. Here are some pictures from my walk

@nstephenson01 Happy late anniversary! A great meal is a wonderful way to celebrate. Shows your love.
@lennoncpa I'm so sorry about your sister's situation. I hope your BIL will realize the danger he's creating for her.

@Cafelelia I think I should move to the cheer squad this weekend. Have not been eating very much, nerves play havoc with my appetite and I have not been tracking good at all. I have lost about half a pound, I will weigh in tomorrow. One more test tomorrow then should start chemo next week. I will come back here as I can, they tell me I should have no trouble with nausea - I hope they are right!8

Daily Check in for Wednesday
Food: 16:8 IF
Water: Great
Exercise: 20 minutes Bowflex intervals, 45 minute dog walk; 12,118 steps
Slowly building up to longer walks to see how my dog Gauge's leg holds up as I don't want him to re-injure himself. Looking forward to hiking again once the weather warms up but it still feels like winter here. Didn't sleep well and felt off all day yesterday. Planned a 14 hour fast but was exceptionally hungry so I kept busy. Managed to eek out a 16 hour fast... did well during the day but hubby made Doritos casserole and all best intentions fell apart. I can't be trusted around a bag of chips. Have to remind myself that IF is not an excuse to eat like an *kitten*. The scale admonished me this morning. Today is a good day to be better LOL
@cafelelia & @sleepymom5 my starting weight for April will be 170. Weigh in day - Thursday still.
Thanks @GingerPwr. Nice loss... I truly believe smaller losses are more maintainable in the long run.
Beautiful pictures @hope002. You have a lot of snow... most has melted here but ice is still a problem. I like your exercise plan... mine is similar strength training 2x/week, cardio 2x/week and walking every day, if possible. I put it on my calendar as an appt.
@pacsnc6 hugs and well wishes on your wellness journey3 -
IDEA SEARCH!The four moderators have been running the full group challenges since the new year. We had the photo challenge this month with a different theme for each day of the week, last month we had the 29 questions of leaping groundhogs, and in January we had 20/20 vision to work on our goals.
I think the April challenge should come from team members. I'm asking all the teams to come up with some ideas. Or revive a previous challenge we had that you liked. What would be fun, useful, and get people from all the teams participating? In the past we have had all kinds of things: points-based games (minutes of exercise, sticking to plan, etc. earning baseball runs or just points), thoughtful questions, photo challenges, daily "pile up" (check this for example), goal setting, daily fitness from darebee or other easy to use sites, recipes, etc. etc.
Bring 'em on!2 -
I wanted to get on and write a little since I didn't really last night. I think I am trying to fight off something. I just haven't had the energy to do much. I don't even feel like writing in my journal which is strange. Today I am feeling good so far so I am going to take advantage of it and get outside for a walk. It is a beautiful, sunny day. Jim is still pretty sick but I am seeing an improvement the past two days. He is waking up a little more, he is on his phone a little and he said he put the TV on last night. I am hoping I can get some food into him later, he still hasn't been eating. He is doing really well with fluids though. I feel bad for him, yesterday was a week.
How is everyone coping? Is anyone struggling? Does anyone have any good ideas to share with the rest of us? This is such a strange time for all of us, it doesn't matter where we live. It hit me last night when Mary Kate and I brought the trash cans down. It was so quiet. I live on a main road and you can see that there is a slow down but there are still cars. Last night there was nothing.
Hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected. I will be checking in this evening with a good report on my day!! Have a good one my friends!
@hope002 Thanks for posting pics! It is so nice to see snow, we had such a mild winter. Sounds like you are in a pretty good routine with your weights. I think getting out for a walk every day is good even if you aren't getting your cardio in. Hope all is going well otherwise.
@pacsnc6 I hope you can check in every so ofter or more if you need. Sending prayers and hugs.
@nstephenson01 Although I really want to know what a Doritos casserole is, I think it is better if I don't know. Lol! I am sure it is something I would like! How about going for 16 hours fasting when you actually were hungry. That is awesome! Hope you were able to get a good nights sleep last night. I swear if you don't get a good nights sleep, your entire day is off. Hope you have a good day today!
@Cafelelia Not the baseball challenge Lol! JK, I think our team liked it, it was just hard to keep up with. I love the idea to get the teams involved in the challenge for April. Remember at one point I had a loose idea for a challenge, for the life of me I can't remember what that was! Lol!3 -
@sleepymom5 thanks for your words of wisdom. I have been worried about you and Jim. Is he feeling better? I can understand your concern about going to the hospital right now. Both Molly and I still have to work. My attitude has changed so I am actually feeling more empowered and less fearful.
@GingerPwr great job on your weight loss! I love seeing it. During my year of losing weight I would pick team members to try to get lower than them. You were on my target list. And now your actually thinner than me but I am quickly catching up.
As far as my cleanse...Thanks for the supportive words teammates and words of advice. I take it all into consideration. My cleanse is an act of self love for me. I need this time to feel at peace with food and concentrate on tender self care. I love the health benefits and now that I am so thin I have also become vain. I am back down to 146.2 this morning. I am surprised but not too surprised. Those recent pounds came on very quickly and I was just as determined to get rid of them just as quickly. I woke up feeling so much healthier and feeling so skinny. I look sooooo much better. I just do. My skin looks better from all the fluids the last few days. It would probably be more accurate to say how terrible I looked with those few extra pounds. My waistline expanded into fat rolls, my face was puffy, my belly was bloated and my intestines were a mess again. And we all know how easy it is to be defeated and keep on doing those bad habits. uh uh not me! My next goal is 145 by April 1st then a pound a week until April 23rd. Totally doable. So for me a cleanse is not punishment, its the best way I know of to increase my well being, build my immune system, get rid of salty junky bloat, take a spiritual break away from food to focus on peace and mindfulness and to remind myself how empowered I am to take my health into my own hands.
for those of you that aren't familiar with my cleanses, I do them several times a year, especially around seasonal changes. Day 1-I do a lemonade fast, filtered water with lemon, raw honey and cayenne. Day 2-purple and green fluids, pomegranate juice, acai (my fav), green detox juice basically more clear juices, Day 3-orange fluids, carrot juice, mango juice, leftover juices from yesterday, and lots of herbal detox teas on all days. And plenty of filtered water. Day 4-fresh fruit Day 5-raw veg and salads with avocado etc Day 6-I add cooked vegetable (sweet potatoes) with the raw fruits and veg Day-7 grains Quinoa, brown rice etc. And that's it. My Day 8-I add nuts, hemp seeds and flax seeds then proceed to transition to my usual healthy menus. It's not really that hard and I look forward to each day. I created it and have been doing this cleanse for years and years.
Peace everyone! One day at a time!4 -
I am so far behind with this-
Transformation Tuesday
A lot of the places that we go to for self care are closed. It could be your place of worship, support group, salon, spa, gym, local pool, or neighbourhood cafe. All kinds of diy ideas and videos have popped up on how to do things for ourselves at home. Show or tell us about one way that you have transformed your self care while staying at home.
Mine is to get out and take a walk. This picture is of Charlie who I haven't seen but my computer won't let me post the one of Daisy. I really think getting outside and getting exercise are important forms of self care.
Workout Wednesday
Whether we feel like it or not, we need to keep moving during this difficult time. Post a selfie from or tell us about one aspect your home workout routine.
This is our not so pretty home gym but we are lucky to have it especially in times like this.
In the box is an ab machine. I get dizzy laying on my back so this looked like I could do things sitting up so I wanted to give it a try. I just haven't gotten around to putting it together.
Thirsty Thursday
Seems like I am making way more soup lately. Post your recipe or a photo of for your favorite soup. I know that soup is a food, but it is liquid too!
This is a picture from our bar's website since I don't have any pics handy. I love French onion soup! I know a lot of cheese and sodium but I do love it
